Terry makes yet another stab at trying to explain his way out of the Reunion comments and I guess the finale comments:  http://www.allabouttrh.com/terry-dubrow-continues-defend-says-played/

Someone really needs to take the shovel out of this guy's hand.  It would help if Terry came out and said who "played him" and what exactly was said.  Vicki saying David flirted with her should not have caused his overreactions.  Terry needs to find a therapist and fast and work through his issues with others.

First looks are Friday night at 8:00 pm.

Thanks for the link ZM.  Terry and Heather didn't expect how huge the backlash was going to be.  So now he admits, after the reunion, that he should have said he was sorry at the reunion.  Up until the finale aired, they still thought they could win by playing the victims and justifying their actions plus continue to try and make David and Shanon look like 'bad' people.  Once again, it didn't work and I don't think we'll see those sardonic grins on their faces again for a long time.  If Terry was losing sleep over David's comments, I imagine he hasn't gotten any sleep at all lately.  It's ironic that in their effort to take down the Beadors,  they destroyed themselves instead.

Andy reps Andy, isn't it possible that he's simply not offended or indignant enough to make it an issue on anyone's behalf?

Please, he knew Vicks was saying stupid shit about what she thought gays looked like.  He made faces that clearly showed he didn't care for it.  But he said nothing.  Look, he's the one there to say something to counter it.  I'm not there, so I can't.  But he is.  He should have.  But I get he's more concerned with looking cutesy -- and maybe letting her continue to make herself look stupid cuz he thinks it'll be good for ratings.  No, he doesn't have to take a stand to defend against gay stereotypes, instead of letting Vicks go on to spread this dumb shit.  But it would have been commendable if Satan Andy countered Vicks' prejudiced bullshit.  But it's something good & he's the devil, so I shouldn't expect it from him.

I think that ALL people make stereotypical judgments. Some just try and hide it, and maybe they should but, everyone's a hypocrite and a liar. Let's be honest and not so righteously indignant because we all know, those are the worst offenders.

Yes, no one is perfect. However, as a society of imperfect people, we must decide what behavior is acceptable and what is not. Bigotry is unacceptable, period, end of story. Bigots should be called out for their ignorance. Otherwise they will continue to believe that it is acceptable.

What has she said that is homophobic, meaning afraid of homosexuals?

Homophobia is an aversion and dislike of gay people, not just a fear.

I think most people try to not to make stereotypical judgments. I should speak only for myself but it is something I try to not do.

I allow myself to get righteously indignant when I hear bigoted statements. I'm funny like that.

I know myself pretty well, and I can promise you, I am far from the worst offender.

Right on!

About a year ago my husband and I received an invitation to our dentist's wedding and to my ophthalmologist wedding.  The ophthalmologist first name is Tracy but goes by T.J..  One the invitation it was William and Tracy.  Tracy or TJ has an unusual last name.  So when he saw the invitation he asked if Tracy was an relation to TJ.  When I said Tracy is TJ, my husband realized it was two men getting married,  he knew  both men from the golf course.  His comment was they didn't look gay.  I groaned and he looked at me and said, "if I want to know what stupid looks like I guess I can go look in the mirror."  My husband isn't usually a jerk, isn't homophobic, continues to use the same dentist, I just don't think it ever dawned on him Bill and TJ are gay and stupid came out of his mouth.  I had known for ages from going to the dentist and I guess I had never brought it up to my husband.  When I asked him what he talked about at the dentist office he said, "golf."

Sometimes I think crap just comes out of Vicki's mouth.  I haven't seen her engage in homophobic behavior, I don't know if she follows the tenets of the church people here claims she attends.  Some of her race and national origin comments I find far more offensive.   I attribute Vicki's ignorance to lack of education.  I am still reminded of one of her funniest lines when she said people talk about Slade everywhere.  She went on to say she had just been to the Vatican and people were talking about Slade.

Toukie!! Hey the gang's all here. Well, almost. Okay, so I promise that I'm not trying to convince you, but about the bolded part, Terry was in the room just before Shannon and Heather start really talking. He goes to fix her a drink. When he comes back there's a little bit of small talk and then I don't remember if Shannon asks or he volunteers, but he makes it clear that they were about to get ready for some social thing they were on their way to that night. Heather didn't need to make up an excuse, she had a perfectly legitimate reason provided by Terry and which Shannon had already heard him say, at her disposal. I'd forgotten this but it was also mentioned upthread - when Heather subsequently relayed the story on camera, she herself used the words kicked her out. Tomato, tomahto, I don't even think the action is as irritating as Heather's insistence about the semantics of it. There's no substantive difference between the combination of (1) standing up (effectively ending the conversation); (2) pointing to the front door; and (3) "asking her to leave" - she's trying to hang her hat on the words being used as though they mitigate the spirit and intent of what she did. No sale.

N'uh uh, it makes us clothes minded. ::shannonvoice:: I'll see myself out.

Maybe Vicki should've Dubrow-style backpeddaled and said I didn't say gaydar, I said gator, you know like when you can sense the presence of a sharp toothed, stealthy muffucah that has a keen sense of night vision. {{looks at Tamara}}. Ok, for real, I'm going.

oh and p.s. ya'll on some bullshit about David, that man is as fine as frog hair. I'm 46 years old, do you know what most men my age look like? Peter damn Griffin. For him to be nearly 60 and still holding it down? /fin

Sing it, ZW! Right there with you. Man is hella fine!

Beautifully stated!

I also don't understand why Andy allows some behavior to continue while allowing others to manifest.  He'll come down on some for homophobic remarks but he'll allow this "gays as accessories" to continue and grow.  I don't understand how he doesn't state that it's offensive to treat people in such a fashion.

Andy is an ass.  This is the same idiot who thought George's "antics" on RHONY were hilarious. He doesn't represent anything, other than being a sleazeball.  If it puts money in his pocket, he's okay with it.

And, honestly, if Vicki were from a small, isolated area with little to know diversity, I may be willing to cut her some slack. But, she lives in Southern California.  There is just no excuse for her ignorance.

This is actually a pretty interesting point. Vicki IS from a fairly small and isolated area as far as diversity is concerned. And, then she picked up and moved to Orange County, which again, is not know for it's diversity or culture - no offense to current OC residents.

Vicki is what I call willfully ignorant. What I mean by that is that she went from one area with little to no diversity, and willfully moved to a much more affluent version of the same. Diversity is not on Vicki's radar because she simply isn't surrounded by it and because she is a total narcissist.

It doesn't excuse her behavior at all. But, it is what it is. As long as she chooses to be willfully ignorant, she will continue to have these gaffes.

Was that really Andy's place where they filmed? I couldn't tell if he was serious or not.

"There's the truth, then there's the goddamn truth." I'm not even sure what that meant exactly, but I loved it. And yes, Shannon, you are on top of the OC scoreboard right now. Nice game.

David is one fine man, but did he really need to lose that much weight?

Tamra was sporting more bunny whiskers than a Viagra-sponsored rabbit farm. A shame, because she was hot not that long ago.

That was a whole lotta tittage and lace on the right couch, wow.

Yes, Terry did a horrible job of trying to justify what he said, but at least he seemed to be concerned that he might have offended someone - even if it was completely self serving.

I didn't buy Miss T. being concerned about offending anyone, nor do I think there was any real way for him to justify his insults. Bottom line is, David's profession had nothing to do with his hoedown comments, just as whomever raised Terry is irrelevant (as we don't know if he respects them, either). The only reason Terry wove the construction business into the argument was so he could stroke his self-imagined superiority boner in front of all those he considers beneath him and his actress wife.

Why can't Shannon just say that she was ased to leave more than once?

Because she wasn't asked more than once, and left the moment she was told to leave.

I just looked at that. They built the home for like 13 million and sold it for 16.4. It has less square footage than the Beador home does. According to that Zillow listing the Beadors originally  listed their home in 2013 for 15,998,000.

It kills me how the rich just get richer. Who in hell makes a PROFIT of 3.4 million on the sale of a home? Oh, yeah, the undeserving Dubrow's, that's who.

I think I need to stop watching this franchise because it is screwing up my perception. I'm starting to view Vicki as poor, when her home is only selling for 2.4 million.  Dafuck?

Apparently shoving silicone into someone's chest is highly lucrative. I honestly had no idea.  13 freakin' million dollars?  Dayam! That's a lot of big boobs.

Actually they did much better:

"The Real Housewives of Orange County" star Heather Dubrow is no stranger to highbrow real estate, and her monster spread in Newport Beach, Calif., proves it. According to The Real Estalker, Dubrow has sold her Orange County mansion for $16.45 million -- but the home was never publicly listed. Well-connected sources pointed Estalker to public records of the sale of the home in the latter part of December. Dubrow and her husband, Terry, a (very rich) plastic surgeon, built the home in 2004, reportedly buying the lot in the Newport Coast development for $3.3 million and spending an extra $7 million on the construction of the home

Shannon's dress did not flatter her midsection. It appeared to be too tight.

I will thank my lucky stars if I look half as good as Shannon at her age.

Heather needs to stop interrupting whenever a question is directed at someone else.

Exactly!!! WTF, Heather? David was explaining his perfectly reasonable rationale for writing an email to Shannon and Heather butts in and starts talking about herself?

I wonder if they will address Heather telling the ride operator to turn up the speed while Tamra was on the bull?

Oh yeah! I forgot all about that. I'm sure Heather will have a perfectly ridiculous rationalization for that one.

Tamra pulled a Kristine Doute (Vanderpump Rules).  Kristen swore on her brothers' and sisters' lives (or her nieces' and nephews' lives - I don't remember which one, but either way it was gross) that she hadn't slept with Jax.  And then we find out she had in fact slept with Jax.  But, to Kristen's credit, at least she said at the reunion "yes, I'm a gross human being, I disgust myself."

Tamra?  She swears on her kids' lives that she didn't lie.  That right there should be a basis for Simon gaining custody over her.  That is just sick.  And when confronted about it, she didn't really have anything to say to Vicki so I do think she said it.

Just how disgusting and immoral do you have to be if Kristen Doute is morally superior to you?

Two thumbs up to your posts.

For someone who's been on every reality show he could find Dr. Penis is very naïve. Even if production lied to him you would think he would use his critical thinking skills. I would want to see  the footage myself or ask other people who were there what was said before I vented my outrage.

The Dubrows really missed the boat on this one. From my understanding, the cast members are allowed to watch all the episodes prior to taping the reunion. So Terry knew exactly what David said at the party. Yet he still came for him with an elitist attitude. They're completely deluded about their behavior trying to explain their perception and mindset. I would never want to be around these insufferable snobs.

I think it would be hilarious.  Of course, since I live in New York, a woman who hangs out with a gay man is assumed to be straight …

Andy is the host who used to have segments on WWHL called "Good for the Gays/Bad for the Gays?" and "Donkey Booty" in which he compared African American women's asses.  Of course, we know who the biggest ass was.

Personally, I think Andy has done just as much to negatively represent the LGBT community as any of the Housewives. In particular, I remember not that long after he used WWHL to passive aggressively needle Alexis and Jim, he encouraged Denise Richards and Tamra to perform a lap dance on him in a game he called, "Let's Turn Andy Straight." Flash forward to the season 3 reunion of Beverly Hills, and he's chastising Yolanda for describing her relative's sexuality as "a choice" . . . as if he's qualified to approve or disapprove of the sexual self-determination of a woman he never even met (like the actress Cynthia Nixon said, "my view of my sexuality has nothing to do with your view of your sexuality.")

As is the case with many of the cast members of this show, his selectivity and contradictions undermine any valid points he might have. Like, I never really found Alexis's remarks to constitute this grave, existentially troubling transgression; she espoused a theological point with which I disagree, but she apologized for them unequivocally and clarified she has never believed in illegalization of gay marriage. Lots of religious people don't subscribe wholesale to the tenets of their church, be the points of contention teachings on abortion, divorce, or whatever.

Meanwhile, Nene Leakes got a pass for years for all sorts of offensive comments like, "I love the gays; they're half man and half lady."

Ugh, no, that's not what's so awful about what Vicki said at all.  Vicki was spouting off ridiculous stereotypes of what she believes gay men look like.  Gay men can look like anyone, not the GQ types she was saying.  Andy should have countered that instead of making idiot faces.  Yeah, I get the theory he wants her to "sink" herself.  But I still think Satan Andy is much more concerned with looking cutesy.

Nope, not buying what you're saying.  Would I classify Vicks as homophobic?  She sure is really dumb -- oh, and very, very small-minded & prejudiced as hell.  Racist?  Maybe.  Homophobic?  Could be.  She's giving us a lot to think she is.

Yup, Vicks is a lovely straight up bigot, ain't she?  Guess her honesty in showing she's a bigot is quite admirable to some viewers out there, eh?

I don't think she is a bigot because she said she thinks most gay men are well groomed and fit. That doesn't make her a bigot. If she said I strongly dislike gay people, people of other races, republicans or any other group then she would be a bigot. That's my point. Stereotyping is not bigotry. They are different with different definitions.

You might have missed the posts - and the episodes - where Vicki said "chinka, chinka, chinamen," or "no scratchy the woody" to a Spanish-speaking man in her home." Yes, the Vickster is most definitely a bigot for just these examples alone. Furthermore, stereotyping of course has a different dictionary definition than bigotry, but it can be and often is a form of bigotry. Example: practically every "stereotype" that comes out of Vicki's mouth. If you need me to be more specific, I'll oblige.

I don't think she dislikes gay people, nor do I think she's homophobic (although I do think she's racist. And her offensive generalizations of gay people are ignorant). But my larger point is about subtle forms of racism and bigotry. In this day and age, rarely does someone come out and say - out loud, let alone in front of tv cameras - something blatantly racist like "I hate gay people." It's the more indirect and subtle forms of racism that need to be called out.

I do think that the original plan was for Vicki/Tamra to gang up against Heather.. but when Heather wasnt biting.. then Tamra decided to regroup.  I think when Vicki/Lizzie fizzled out, then Tamra decided to focus on Shannon while noticing Heather and Shannon didn't get along and decided to get to work.  Little did Miss Judge know but that Shannon wasn't as nuts nor as big of a pushover as thought.  Makes me wonder how Lydia would have factored in if she had stayed.

This culture of looking for offense in everything someone says is a real drag. There are plenty of real bigots that harm people...focus on them. But doesn't what you guys are saying put Andy in the position of being representative of an entire demographic of people?  This puts me in mind of the women of ATL when they were all pissed (mainly at Sweetie) at the way Kim talks to sweetie because, as black women, they were insulted by it, so they didn't get why Sweetie wasn't.    Andy reps Andy, isn't it possible that he's simply not offended or indignant enough to make it an issue on anyone's behalf?  <-- sorry, I'm not yelling, that's a sincere question, has he ever done that before?

Let me try a different analogy.

What if one of the white Real Housewives had a black friend and constantly introduced that friend as "My black friend" and trotted that friend as though that friend is an accessory piece?  Or a group of friends as "My blacks."

Do you think one of the Real Housewives of Atlanta would appreciate being treated as some sort of novelty act if someone white did that to them?

I would hope that one of them would speak up and out against this marginalizing of a person.

ETA:  Sorry, I think I misread what your quote referred to.  I thought you were talking about my comments on "my gay husband".

We are. On this forum. And her name is Vicki. Is she the most bigoted person in the world? Of course not, but not only is it bad in and of itself, but it's particularly bad because it's televised.

I can't imagine that Vicki saying that SHE, thinks that gay men are usually well groomed and fit, hurts anyone. Is she dumb? Yes, she says dumb things all the time, every episode almost without fail.

I think that her dumb statement has the potential to hurt people, but I think the more important point is how dangerous, and yes, hurtful it is to perpetuate stereotypes. There is nothing good that comes from stereotyping people, so why not try to eliminate it? So in this vein - yes, Vicki says dumb things all the time. And when she does, let's call her on it. Maybe someone with similar views will learn that it's not ok.

So what? Of course it is not correct. In fact if anything, it is a stereotype that Bravo is perpetuating.

It's a stereotype that Bravo AND Vicki are perpetuating.
