Fake birthday party.

Katherine has no couth.  None.  No manners.

What she does have is some spectacularly ugly fake eyelashes.  At the garden/birthday/Madison party, between the humidity and weight of those monstrosities , it looked like they were melting off and were just kinda hanging on.   Which makes her eyes look even more crazy as she tries to blink under the weight, while getting toasted and acting an ass.

I slept thru the whole show and woke up to “Watch What Crappens”.  Madison New Face and Venita were on.  Yikes, they were dressed to kill.  Guess they are the new stars of the show.  Then the show repeated.  Katherine and her boobs and eyelashes were on having lunch with the new girl, Austin’s new squeeze.  Also Miss Patricia was on with Whitney serving drinks on the veranda for Madison and Venita.  Guess there’s a party going on.  I’ll go look see.  Looks like there’s a new cast.  I see strangers.  Looks like I’ll be out soon, maybe.   I miss the old cast .. Chelsea and Cameron.  Oh, here come the other new faces .. Katherine and Naomi.  All in pink.  Seems Venita is having a moment with Katherine.

The green top Patricia wears in her talking heads, I like the concept, with the leaves and cut-outs, and I’m sure it’s like $5,000 but the fabric looks cheap-as-hell like polyester, like something from Walmart.  

I will say I did laugh at the Craig & Austen text composing scene.  I’m with Craig, no punctuation at the end.

eta Is Vernita not from Charleston?  I noticed she said “in the battery” when talking about the garden party!

The whole episode I’m thinking, “god I hate Kathryn, god I hate Patricia, god I hate so and so..” and I realize I don’t like one single person on this show.

Vernita is trying way too hard, I’m embarrassed for her, what is she even talking about?  Shut up Leva.  Let’s go around the table and bring up old grievances.  Why!????  Way to ruin a party.  

The party looks horrible, everyone is sweating.  
 

The editors must not have anything to work with, as they show the waiters pouring water at an empty table.  Good lord!!  This show sucks!

I do not understand why the girls did not opt for an indoor party, it is no secret that summers in Charleston are hot and humid, why make your guests uncomfortable, especially the pregnant one. I get it that Madison was using a friends house but if they weren't letting you inside then pick another venue that is in doors.

Venita is so performative & obnoxious, she makes Madison look positively sedate.

I seriously just can't with the dramatics. Venita met Olivia exactly once, so the amount of vitriol she was carrying for her made entirely no sense. Kathryn may have looked ridiculous but she was spot on about Venita's condescension. Oh, Leva can shut it too. Only saving grace to the party is that grey hair lady stayed wasn't there. 

Highlight of the episode was Craig & Austen crafting text messages at the driving range. That tells you all you need to know.

You read my mind.  The only things I’ll miss about this crapfest is the scenery, table settings and Patricia pushing Whitney around. I can’t look at Vernita anymore either.  I don’t want to hear history lessons.  This show used to be fun.

I guess if they are Libras the party was somewhere between late Sept and late Oct, so it shouldn't have been too hot, except it could be that hot in Philly still, let alone Charleston!

Wow, that table was crowded with plates.  I'd be afraid I'd trail my sleeve in the stickiest item.

 Whitney is soo irritated. It's delicious! He's going to smother Patricia with one of Craig's pillows if she keeps nitpicking and treating him like he's the staff! Can't you just picture him sobbing "Mottthher-her-herrr!" as he does it? 😀  I do feel for Patricia a bit. Michael ran her life for her flawlessly, and made sure she was taken care of, but he was also her friend.

 Taylor is as immature as Shep. Since she was upset that she wasn't pregnant, I believe she is actively trying to become so. If she has expectations of how she wants things to go if she gets pregnant, then she needs to take steps to prevent an unplanned pregnancy, since her partner is obviously nowhere near the same page. Shep is just as culpable and if he doesn't want a child, he needs to raincoat that puppy each and every time he decides to put it anywhere.

 Lmao that the only thing any female ever says they like about Austen is his height. Is he kind and honest? Is he funny? Is he a hard worker and dependable? What are his great qualities as a human? I don't know, but he's tall! The text thing with Craig was funny.

 Wth Venita? Bitching about "It's MY party!" It was a combined party! If she wanted her very own circle of attention, she shouldn't have agreed to sharing the day. She's thirsty.

 Waiting a year to confront Katherine was a choice. I get where she's coming from, and understand her wanting to have that conversation, but she came off as combative, and that will make someone dig their heels in, instead of changing their perspective. She already had the conversation, and then wanted to do it again at the table? Either she accepts what Katherine is saying about making changes and understanding what she did was horrible, or she should choose to not interact with her if she can't.

 Madison only wants to get to know Olivia because she's starting to date Austen, and Madison wants to poison that well.

Naomi, you are not the bigger person at all whatsoever. Girl. Another one that's parched.

I only have stray observations as this was a pretty dull episode:

Whitney is just the grossest, classless nobody imaginable.  FFS, I'm not any kind of dress code guy, but if you're getting out of the car and intend on being seen with your mother at an event, wear something at least APPROACHING nice instead of your hipster retro porn mag t-shirt.  You are pathetic.  (And I would like to be clear: this is on Patricia and her recently departed ex-husband.  I'm not on team Patricia at all, and a decent amount of that is from Whitney.)

Taylor - like most everyone in this cast - looks far better casual and not caked in makeup and decked out in a weird cotillion-wannabe dress.

The only thing I thought about the Venita's Kathryn/Olivia drama was that it wasn't Madison's problem to take care of you as far as this party.

Was that Leva or Venita doing the whole LET'S EVERYONE TALK ABOUT EVERYTHING RIGHT NOW thing at the end?  I've forgotten, but it was just far too try-hard.  (In their defense, however, it's such a weird required Reality Show reality that no adults actually participate in, but I guess it's part of the job.)

The producers are really trying to make Venita happen. I don't like her.

We had a discussion last episode about "in the battery" vs "on the battery," that's why I pointed that out.  I thought it was "in the battery," but it should be "on the battery," so I am thinking Vernita is not from the area.

The battery is in the historic part of Charleston. It's on the harbour and is beautiful. Patricia lives in that area. 

One thing I liked about Madison.  She told Venita off about interrupting Olivia defending Katherine.  She put her in her place.  That girl thinks she’s a fixer?  She’s a rude instigator know it all for a newbie.  Shut up and sit down.  You are not that important yet to be telling people off.  I like Olivia and think she’s too good for Austin.

I watched the Southern Charm show that aired the hour before the new episode last night.  There was a "never have I ever" game among the men and Shep admitted to having been arrested at least TEN TIMES.  He was laughing about it as if it were a badge of honor.  What a total loser.

It takes a lot for me to give up on a favorite show, but I'm about ready with this one.  It doesn't even have the same vibe it used to.

I did like "I feel like drapes."

Otherwise, I'm not feeling this season's new people AT ALL.  I like Taylor, and I used to love Shep, but Shep's pretty much run his course, and there's not much else to Taylor without him.  Craig actually seems well-adjusted for a change, so no drama there.  If I didn't know that was Naomie, I wouldn't recognize her.  Katherine is just a pitiful tragedy.  Austen appears to have nothing left to contribute, which is a shame, because he could really showcase himself trying to grow as a beer-preneur, but it looks like that won't happen.  And no one else is worth commenting on.

I miss Cameran, Chelsea, Danni, Shep when he was still somewhat endearing, even Thomas and Landon and Ashley - at least they kept it entertaining being people you loved to hate.

Used to like this show, but now, not sure why I watch.  What does Andy Cohen say/pay these folks to inflate their egos to such extent? You have egotistical immature men (Shep, Austin & Craig) surrounded by deluded & low expectation women (Taylor, Naomi, Olivia & Paige, etc.)  Craig & Shep cheat on Paige & Taylor - openly - no problem.  Taylor thinks a "scare" (what do these twits think will happen without birth control?) will make man-child Shep marry her? Would she want him if he didn't have a dime? Does she really want someone who will never think of her first (if at all.)  Shep never mentions love - he's happy (for now) because he can tolerate her.  Does she really want to raise the kid on her own if he aw shucks it out of there?  Does she think he won't ever blame her for roping him in - even tho he's equally to blame? Does she think he won't continue to cheat even if he does marry her. Do these people ever THINK a step ahead??

As for the others - Craig, the Pillow-meister of Charleston, had  chutzpah enough to play both Naomi & Paige - justified in the guise of being "honest" because he told Paige.  Austen is - well, tall - a big deal to Olivia, who ubers to dates.  Have you no higher standards or expectations?  Whitney is one step away from Norman Bates territory.  Patricia is an over-indulged ninny who plays queen bee with a cast decades her junior (though they are no kids at ages 30-40+) & she is too entitled (or too lazy) to even pour or make her own drinks.  Leva brings nothing - the kid's butterfly story was blah & she was very clumsy with that clearly producer-driven demand for drama at the luncheon table.  Venita couldn't "influence" me to buy a paperclip & Katherine's need for a guy with a 5 or 10-year plan (so off you go, Chleb) is ridiculous when she can't get herself to think ahead 5 or 10 hours (or control her temper for 5-10 minutes).

I guess I don't like these people much any more -- & don't much care what they do.  I'm out.

I will give Austen the benefit of the doubt (even though he is a total putz) and assume the main reason he is upset about losing his childhood home is all his memories of his deceased sister are centered there. That would be tough especially because she died so young and he only ever grew up with her there.

And Venita!  So horrible!  Who called her thirsty?  You were right.  The funny thing is she wasn’t as bad on WWHL.  I thing her SC persona is her idea of acting.  I tune in to watch drama of the Peter Pan set and their blonde debs.  Not the anger show of Leva and Venita.

This is supposed to be escapism.  But the producers were called out for having a lily-white cast (even though as a practical matter many white people don’t have non-white friends so the show was just reflecting society as it exists rather than the ideal).
