Fornell has gotten very annoying.

I guess I missed the end of last season if it was about his daughter becoming a drug addict.  She really gives him a run for his money though.

Ellie's eyebrows are way too heavy.

Sundance is going fishing.

Trying to kill Palmer is crossing so many lines and makes things personal.

I like GIbbs trying to sneak around with the “gone fishing” story but this is a guy who doesn’t take vacation days so no one actually buys the story.   I actually liked the Emily Fornell drug story last season so I am glad the show is continuing with it.   I am probably in the minority but I it’s a good story and having GIbbs deal with a drug issue so close to home is actually a good storyline.

I enjoyed it for the most part as it felt Old School NCIS...and I still say they can spin off Gibbs/Fornell and I'd be happy. The opening of Gibbs shooting McGee was odd but am looking forward to the follow through.

The new cast bores me to tears so to have an abundance of Gibbs/Fornell/Vance and Palmer made me like it.  I guess I'm easy to please because this episode wasn't as bad as some of the ones from the past few years. I do have one question, what the hell happened to Joe Spano? He looked like he aged 20 years.

Joe Spano

I've been a fan of Joe Spano since Hillstreet Blues. Putting him in a mullett and forgetting everything that was his FBI career and dealing with human beings was off putting at a minimum, and downright wrong.

I kept wondering when they'd fill out his daughter's story, but instead the new kids (well they haven't really earned the established agent labels) go running around, long hair flapping all over the place (she's never run through the woods, has she?), and they push the camper and leave it, having pushed it up hill. Guess they never learned to chock the wheels in CBS-001.  I was so irritated by that time that I was rooting for gravity to step in and the camper to roll back trapping four of them in the shelter.

Are they going to drag this out to three episodes (were these left over from the early termination of the spring 2020 season) after lady shrink rides off or is carried off into the sunset?

This!!!  He's become annoying and so has Emily.  And for that matter, so has Sloane.

Yea! Emily is terrible and now Fornell is going to track down the guy that made his bratty daughter a druggie. No thanks. I’m still pissed he pulled a gun in the doctor that was trying to save her life.
The main team doesn’t bother me as much as Fornell has. I like their banter and the humor is still there, but Sloane is starting to bug by being so flirty and creepy towards Gibbs. Please don’t go there show (so of course they will).

Several questions:

1) What was that airport scene all about???

2)Did it feel like the Gibbs/Fornell subplot was filmed pre-pandemic?

3) Is the agent (name??) whose daughter was kidnapped, a member of the team? I don't recall seeing her prior to this ep.

She's on the night shift.  I don't remember ever hearing about her before but everyone seemed to be very familiar with her.

Gad, I thought that this was a really painful episode to watch.  Fornell and his "My LITTLE GIRL!!!".  This guy was supposed to be an FBI agent???

I think the writers of this show have a daddy/daughter fixation or something.  Maybe just a daughter fixation (this episode it was a mother with a kidnapped daughter - and again, a supposed agent acting very stupidly).

As an aside - have you ever seen a show where either a mother or father is screaming about a late teenage or early 20s SON, as "My Little Boy"?  No, I haven't either.

As an former FBI agent, he should know people are responsible for making their own decisions.  I’m not a fan of Fornell. Or Sloan. Is she leaving? That would be awesome.

It seems like the show can’t come up with anything realistic anymore.

I agree!  Fornell used to be a favorite character and now I loathe him.  They ruined him.

Both my husband & I were wondering where the 'previouslies' were from as we don't remember them at all, other than the fact that the daughter OD'd.. but not Fornell pulling his weapon ( why was he not arrested???)  or anything else there.

Damn good question.  That was so confusing.

I think they are showing what will happen in March, with Gibbs and Fornell doing some sideshow with the drug pins and going undercover, then McGee is there so Gibbs shoots him (non fatal shot of course) to protect him and their covers. Just a hunch.

I remember clearly Fornell pulling his weapon on the doctor.  I, along with pretty much all the posters here, were not impressed at all by his actions.  He should have been arrested but Gibbs got him out of there.

That sounds likely.  In the show timeline we are still in 2019 aren't we?

Oh, I remember Fornell pulling his weapon. That's about all I remember from that storyline as it made me absolutely livid (as someone who works in healthcare). Fornell has been irredeemable since that moment in my eyes. I used to quite like him, but that was completely unforgivable. I also hate addictions storylines in general so between those two things, I really cannot wait for this entire plot to disappear.

It detracts so much from the show and the character to have Fornell somehow forget his whole career's worth of experience and just fall apart from seeing a young girl looking to buy drugs. He almost blew the whole case by indulging his emotions. And the pony tail? Just no.

It almost felt to me that Sloan was channeling the therapist with whom Gibbs is friends (Grace?) when she kept probing for information, but Grace has the standing to dig and Sloan was just being intrusive. I think she just doesn't fit in the show, although she's fine as an actress. I won't miss her when she's gone.

I felt like we were being set up for Tyler to join the show. She seems to have some strong tie to Vance, although I couldn't quite catch what. That she works at NCIS with people like Gibbs and Vance yet decides she's better off stealing a body and trying to get her daughter back on her own begs belief. I don't want to see more of her.

As always, it annoys me how the new kids slack off whenever Gibbs isn't around. The lack of urgency or professionalism galls me. Even Tony was often at his desk doing paperwork. And McGee is suffering from their influence. Gibbs tells him he's in charge as he's leaving, and McGee just looks confused? I know he was wondering where Gibbs was going, but he should be more able to take things in stride, with all his years on the job.

The airport scene was unnecessary.  It had NOTHING to do with this episode and would have been better to link to the episodes it was related to (in the future).  It made no sense and just pissed me off.

Also, Sloan is useless and I want her gone.

Wait!  There's a night shift?

How many times have we seen our intrepid crew working all hours of the day and NIGHT with never even one mention of "Let's go home and get some sleep.  The night crew will get this"  Or when have we ever seen agents from the night shift getting off work as McGee, Bishop and the rest show up in the morning?

It just feels like they are recycling the plot where Fornell's ex-wife was killed and Fornell went all rogue and Gibbs had to lecture him ad nauseam about not doing anything stupid and he went out and did stupid stuff anyways. Gibbs should be on to this idiocy by now and not letting him go off on his own. At least we can be thankful that Fornell's daughter didn't die or else we might have gotten a repeat of the ridiculous scene where Fornell had Gibbs channel the spirit of his dead ex-wife.

I'll second that - all of it! I, for one, was happy that they killed off Diane. What a vicious, nagging, shrew she was! And the daughter is turning out to be a lot like Mom. I don't know why television writers need to depict "strong women" as rude, demanding, insulting, tantrum-throwing fishwives (although that might be an insult to fishwives). And giant pains in the ass to boot. And yes, I agree that this recycled Fornell-on-a-tear nonsense has run its course. He needs an attitude adjustment and a fucking haircut, stat! Gibbs should haul his ass back up to the cabin, get him drunk until he pukes, then let him go shoot somebody. He'll feel better after that. And so will I. Cheers!

Yeah, I didn't see what Gibbs and Fornell saw in Diane, enough to marry her. I would expect Emily, as Diane's daughter, to be intelligent and outspoken, but I wish she had a little more Fornell in her and was a bit quirkier and more humorous, and less demanding.

It looked to me like the first scene in the office was filmed before the hiatus, because McGee looked like he did last season.  All the other scenes had him looking very thin, including the scene at the airport.  Several years ago, he got very thin as well...not sure what was behind it then, or now.

I hope not.  She, both the character and the actor, were awful
