They look to me like the type of lesbians who refuse to wear dresses.  Which is fine if that's your style regularly, but I think it's rude if you're asked to be a bridesmaid.

What?  if they are your friends, you want them to be comfortable at your wedding, so, no, I disagree.

Oh - that type of lesbian...

I actually thought it was lovely of Olivia to have her wedding party in clothing that felt comfortable and attractive to them instead of forcing them to wear dresses if they didn't want to. I think it's rude when the bride imposes her personal style on the bridesmaids and makes them wear something clearly not their type.

I laughed when Christina's mom shut the door on her daughter's train and continued to walk ahead of her like she was the bride.  She acted like it was her day.

I kinda wondered how far down the aisle she would get before she noticed Christina was still stuck in the door.

I do like Miles, and I really hope that Karen relaxes and gives him a real chance. She is gorgeous and her wedding dress was one of the prettiest I have seen. On the other hand, I hope that Miles does not become a doormat trying to earn her affection and that there is a mutual attraction and respect between them.

Me too. I think that they could be a very successful match if Karen keeps an open mind and lets go of her idea of what her "type" should be.

Quote

I hope Woody is the guy who showed up at the wedding and not the player that was in the pre-wedding shows. I loved how easily the dad and stepdad got along. What a nice change to see compared to many situations. Maybe they can be a force of good in Woody’s life. He sounds like he would really like to have an older man’s influence in his life.

I hope so too. I think Woody is capable of being a good guy and a good husband if he decides he wants to be. Amani seems pretty awesome - I hope he sees that too. And those two dads were awesome!

I wonder if Henry thought doing this show might wake up whichever one of his honey bees he has buzzing around him that he desires and they’d suddenly realize he’s more than “just a friend”. Ain’t going to happen dude.

I had that thought too.  It's pretty obvious to me Henry is crazy about the brunette, Kristin, whether he admits it or not.  So why would someone so introverted and who secretly carries a huge torch for another woman sign up for Married at First Sight?  Dare I say it.....Kristin had a hand in this?  There's no way Henry thought it up on his own.  Just no way.

I can't think of any couples who stumbled this poorly out of the gate and end up righting the ship.

Jaime and Doug.  The woman practically said it to Doug's face on the altar that she thought he was an ugly troll.  I believe her exact words were "there's nothing there to work with".  The ship got righted because Doug had the patience of a saint and Jaime, who had a terrible upbringing replete with drug addicted mother and unknown father, wanted a family so bad.   After 10+ years and 2 kids, Doug has really changed a lot and even though he still gives in to Jaime too much, he isn't the lapdog seeking crumbs of attention from Jaime anymore.  And she has calmed down once she got those kids and I think realizes Doug is the best man for her since no one else would put up with her sh*t as much as he does.

I think they’ll be together during the experiment but in every scene, it was her asking him questions about himself & him answering but not asking him questions. She seems very eager to make this work and he seems less pressed. He took forever to even look at her at the altar.

If Henry & his brunette friend wanted to be together, it would have happened. He said he’s been single for a while (right?) and I’m sure they’ve been single at the same time at some point. She’s the “friend” who likes having him around for attention and now there’s another woman in the way and she’s pissed. I don’t like Christina for Henry but I do think she‘ll check Henry’s friends in a way that Olivia would not. Game recognize game, and I think Christina has a mean girl edge of her own.

My guess is because he has a ton of attractive female friends who use him as a purse holder, chauffeur, and wallet but has not gotten laid in years because he has let these very same friends cock block anyone who was remotely interested.

Beyond the "reserved gentleman" facade, there is something deeper going on with Henry. He claims he hasn't been in a relationship in 4-5 years (and, based on his so-called reserved nature, that also means he hasn't had sex in that same timeframe), which for a guy his age raises lots of questions. I've known a few guys like this. I certainly don't know Henry but I've seen this scenario play out more than a couple times.

There is no way that any of those women would ever date Henry. Trishelle even said it..."he's boring!" They are there for another reason and it is to do him a favor (probably regarding his family, particularly his father)...because they do care about him, just not in that way.

I don't think it's rude at all.  I mean in the 1980's there was a time bridesmaids were wearing black.  I don't see how pants are rude?

And who said they were lesbians?

Me too. Olivia seems like a genuinely nice person, which is why I think she'll give things with Brett the good old college try (though she appears to get mad at him in the previews).

My friend spent all of a wedding hitching up her strapless bridesmaid dress because she's very large-breasted and the dress fit her badly; she was physically uncomfortable in it, worried about having a "wardrobe malfunction." She asked the bride if she could wear something with straps and the bride said no, which to my mind is shitty. I like the tradition of brides asking bridesmaids to wear the same color, but in styles that flatter the individual. I don't think it's nice to ask your friends and family to spend hundreds of dollars on dresses they didn't pick out and that don't flatter them (so odds are even higher that they'll only get one wearing out of them).

(I would give Amelia's bridesmaid outfit to Goodwill immediately. I still can't believe they sat there with those fucking veils on during the reception.)

I think I read that they initially didn't tell people what the show is in the early seasons, and then when the applicants found out they actually have to marry someone, a huge proportion of the male applicants dropped out immediately.

We gotta stop with this Disney Princess Crap ladies. Christina’s relationship maturity level was shocking. She was just there for the wedding. To be a “princess”. To have her “day”. No thought to what comes after and even admitted she bases relationships after what she sees in movies. Hon... no. Just no. Treat yo’self Christina! Be a princess everyday! You don’t need “one” special day to shine! So over the Bridezilla/wedding porn fad. Henry is either intimidated by her or has zero interest. The saddest part was I think Christina genuinely believed this was a legit wedding and not a mockery of marriage made for our TV viewing pleasure.

I loved that when the three lampshade wearing bridesmaids asked Bennett their quirky questions, he neither gave them the satisfaction of focusing on their odd getup nor stumbled over answering. He acted like they were sitting around wearing jeggings asking what his fav color is. See ladies, Bennett is quirky, but he’s mature. (((Lesson))) No comment on his crotch itch confession.

I would like to have a question and answer forum with Bennett and his mom. I really want to explore the reasoning behind apologizing to inanimate objects. Why? Is it putting good vibes into the universe? Is it a self awareness exercise? Make it make sense O Wise Wierd Ones.

My fav couple by far is Henry and what’s her name. (See what I did there Xtina!?) People keep saying he should have been matched with Olivia, but absolutely not, no. He keeps value signaling what is important to him and it’s looks, appearance and perception. When the producers asked what he was hoping for in regards to his wife, he said, “I hope she has good hair and shoes.” Plus the fact that he totes around skanky ex-girlfriend and Trashelle is his way of letting the world know he can pull hot women. What other reason would a man put up with those shrews? Olivia would have been dismissed in his mind in seconds. This man is not looking for a nice girl.

I find his relationship with his Dad endearing. You can tell his Dad adores him and thinks he’s the jewel of his creation. I more felt bad for the other sibling when the Dad announced the other brother was a slob like him. There were only 2 times that Henry showed a genuine reaction without thinking first and that’s when he threw his napkin over his face as his Dad’s speech went off the rails and when the shrews told him to stop eating and listen to his wife and he said exasperatedly, “I am listening!” Other than that he held back his emotions and thoughts. I think he likes/needs people who challenge him. If Christina brings the diva to the fore, I think he would actually embrace it. Both of them are heavy image conscious too. She wants a marriage like on TV and he wants to look like a perfect normal couple. Ain’t gonna happen but they can try.

I also want to know just how tall Christina is. Trishelle is tall and, in her heels, Christina was taller than Trishelle. Basically Christina is the opposite of petite.

I thought his dad was hilarious. I got the sense that his dad adored him too, but because they are so different, Henry doesn't always feel like his dad adores him, if that makes sense. I got that vibe based on his response to his dad's toast. His dad seems like a "life of the party" kind of guy, and Henry ... does not.

5 minutes ago, Silver Bells said:

I assume she's not a vet because she says "med school," not "vet school." I know a few vets and they say "vet school." They haven't specified what kind of medicine she'll practice. They do show either her or Bennett's mother asking Bennett about whether or not he'll move for her residency if need be, which is a valid concern.

eta: per @humbleopinion she's going into family medicine. Not the most grueling of specialties, which  is good for a new marriage.

We don't know. It wasn't said one way or another and we didn't see them having sex so who knows? I don't think wearing pants as a bridesmaid makes them lesbians anymore than wearing veils made Amanda's bridesmaids nuns.

Christina was over Henry the second she saw his face give a nervous twitch. And unfortunately, undoubtedly because he was so nervous, it got worse as the ceremony went on. But - ugh! - his so-called friends are poisonous witches. I guarantee the producers will set up situations where they have to socialise with Christina.

Woody is ripped! Who knew! But of the two friends, I'd pick Miles. He seems like an actual grown-up man, something sadly lacking on this show. Two lucky women are Amani and Karen.

I adore Bennett and I'm really glad that he and Amelia have hit it off. But, gawd, woman, shut your mouth.

Olivia is a sweetie-pie, and I hope she doesn't get too hurt. She seems to have gone into this with the right motives, but I have no idea why Brett would want to marry a stranger when he likes to think he's some kind of dating playboy. In reality, of course, this means that after one date the woman never wants to see him again, but in his mind he's translated this into some kind of player lifestyle.

Why do I feel like Olivia just lost a lot of weight and that those 4 years where she didn't date, she was a lot bigger.  The way she started that conversation about not being in New Orleans long, I thought for sure she was going to say she moved under a year ago.  Four years is a lot of time -- you didn't just move there, you've been there almost a half a decade.

I think this season has some of the most mismatched couples yet. Henry is nice reminds me VERY much of my husbands friend with aspergers. He should have been paired with Olivia. His female friends (Trishelle from Real World what are the odds) do seem to treat him like their pet project.  I feel like one or two of them might have put him as her back up guy in case she never finds someone and are too quick to judge. They are going to be a problem. Christina is not interested in him. She seems very high maintenance but the "experts had no business putting them together. They should have paired her with Bret

Amelia seeks quirky after 5pm and Bennett is quirky 24/7. I think she would get tired of him but I hope I'm wrong they are cute together.

Bret and Olivia have zero chemistry he is not taking it seriously and I doubt he thinks she is hot enough for him.  She seems so sincere and very nice I hate they gave her Bret.

Woody and Imani I think they have potential

Karen and Miles I think if Karen tries they have a good shot. When Karen's mother said she didn't support this to Miles I kept waiting for the but "I like you or something like that but it didn't come.  I hope this won't cause Karen to shut down.

Agreed.

Henry is very particular and persnickety about how he expects things to be. His Pa alluded to his fussiness.

He wants a put together wife, who knows how to dress well, comport themselves well. Makeup done. Hair styled well.

Olivia is a terrifically sweet girl who is not concerned with designer labels and spending big bucks on shoes.
Christina Is that pulled together woman...elegant posture, poised smile, dressed impeccably...her wedding dress well appointed.
Henry needs to start impressing Christina when he has her alone before she has judged him a dud.

Henry gives off the impression that he is calm but he runs at a higher idle than Bennett.
