Culture Check: How can we discuss a character's or actor's appearance without objectifying them? How can we express likes or dislikes and still respect an individual's humanity or be mindful that a character represents a person someone else might relate to or identify with?

All of these key scenes being filmed without the regular actors are awful.

I think I'm done with the show finally.

Me too. Actually. I haven't watched all week. This was like the final straw for me. The show is bad. Nothing is going to change. I was done after they DESTROYED FINN!!! And Elizabeth and Finn in two weeks! Two freaking weeks!!! But then I heard JJ was coming back, so I stuck around.

I stuck around for him, and Elizabeth and Lucky. But the writing is so bad! And this? Their first kiss after over a decade?! The big rescue and climax of this story?! They can't make an adjustment?!

I just can't. I'm done. They take away everything you care about and want to enjoy and just ahit all over it.

I know! It's absurd. I mentioned upthread how weirdly aggressive, smug, and entitled this Emma is when she approaches people. Are we going to get someone else on the spectrum? NTTAWWT, of course, but GH goes about this sort of thing in the worst possible fashion. And really, Gio is the one who's her social instructor?

I'm so over Dante now (and he was one of the few left that I actually liked). Way to go, breaking the confidences of two of his best friends just to shut Lulu up.

In this particular case, I give Dante a pass given that (while Lulu was still in a coma/not long before the AH recast) BLQ told Chase all about Lulu getting pregnant by Dillon and having an abortion. As far as I know, Dante, nuLulu and Tracy still have no idea she shared Lulu's personal history with Chase.

So, if BLQ gets upset with Dante for sharing her and Chase's personal business with Lulu without their knowledge or consent, she's a hypocrite.

I’m really hating Emma’s over aggressiveness towards others, especially in regards to getting people to help with her charity (is that thing even real or is it a con?). She gave Joss a hard time about not wanting to volunteer her time even though Joss told her she was pretty busy. And I’m hating Gio trying to be her social handler/interpreter and making excuses. The Emma character is just too aggravating much of the time

Well, you know, The REAL Emma always won over child of the corn Joss when they were wee in that gross quadrangle. And I would like to point out-it was done UNDER Frank. So now that Mini-Cujo is the heroine of this Fakakta show, and the spawn of Cujo, of COURSE Robin and Patrick's child has to be the "bad" girl.

Hah! I feel validated in my hate for this recast. It's a horrible one.

They should have made her a new character-a classmate of Mini-Cujo's. I so don't believe the shit she's dishing out. SAAC? Really? Like it's so well known, people should know what it stands for right away? I've never heard of it, and I try to keep up on all charities for animals.

she was not shy at all about telling people about it, so I don't think this comparison quite works.

The general point about not sharing people's personal business is valid, though that would mean soaps wouldn't exist, heh.

She was a teenager at the time, which makes a big difference. Way too many teenagers/young adults overshare.

Now we've had adults BLQ and Chase making their own personal business very public knowledge, literally running off in front of the family to go upstairs to try to conceive and even bragging to Tracy about having a lot of sex for operation baby. They are certainly not a couple who have shown they highly value their privacy.

I thought that Emma created the club/organization. She might be the only member as no one else except Gio seems to be involved. She mentioned that she wanted to hold an event at the Metrocourt and I thought that was what Emma wanted Joss' help. To get Carly to donate the space.

She said something about wanting mini-Cujo to also make an appearance and speak or something, and she said she didn't have the time, but could donate or whatever.

Drew’s actor is 55 and Willow’s actress is 29. There’s 26 years between them.  He’s controlling and she’s a doormat with him.  It’s bad enough that she’s married to his nephew. The age difference adds another layer of ick.  I can get past an age difference but not when the dynamic has one partner so controlling of the other.  I think when Willow inevitably cheats on Drew with Chase Drew’s headed towards psycho stalker territory.  Drew’s house is going to be Willow’s prison instead of a home.

Maybe she's a recent convert? They can be the worst. 🙂 At least they can ship her off to join Serena when/if they get tired of her.

UO - I don't really mind her. Everyone goes on about her being Robin's daughter but Patrick was an arrogant @ss when he first came on. She's also made Gio bearable for some reason.

True, but Patrick had Daddy Issues--he was still bitter and pissed at Noah for cheating on his mother with Matt's mom, or was it that he went to another woman "too soon" after Patrick's mom/Noah's wife died?

With all we've seen and know, Emma can't say the same. The cheating Patrick did on Robin happened when she was less than a year old. Since they left the show, and even with original Emma's appearances, they were a happy family.

There is NOTHING about this recast that shows me that she is the child of Robin!Fucking!Scorpio! and Patrick Drake.

Not to mention the retcon about how she had puppies when she was wee.

I started to feel sick when Drew was telling Willow about how happy all the kids would be playing together and living there in his house. I doubt that Scout would prefer 6 year old Wylie and 2 year old Amanda to her brother Danny and Rocco. At least Willow maintained some semblance of common sense.

Anna: "We waited too long to arrest Cyrus Renault."  And whose fault is that, Anna?

Of course Joss is the one to take Cyrus down.  <eyeroll> She's a Carly spawn.

Why does Brennan think that recruiting Joss is a good idea? She goes rogue (something he just knocked down fake-accent Chloe for) and put herself in dangerous situations that she can't handle. And she doesn't know enough to wear plastic gloves doing it.

Curtis invites  his aunt over for a special Valentine's Day drink in order to get her to manipulate her friend into rejecting Drew.

I am past bored with the ending Chase/Brook Lynn "Woes, we can't have a baby" story.

Thank you to every who answered my question about Lulu. Good to know that it's consistent with how she was two Lulus ago but she's annoying and whiny and entitled and generally unpleasant. I'm rooting against her and Dante (Save Dante!) especially given what a supportive relationship Dante and Sam had.

"Tracy is incredibly close to Brook Lynn"  TRACY IS HER GRANDMOTHER, LULU.

Josslyn, who has never handled a gun before, kills Cyrus? Oh whatever Show!!!

Glad to see Elizabeth, Laura, Aiden and then nuLulu together.

Brennan's face was like "Oh, huh" upon seeing Cyrus's body on the floor? What?

BLQ finally confesses to the retconned pregnancy. Nice reaction face by JS.

I think that's JJ in the hospital bed for the "clear!" preview?

Chase going on about how invaluable an experience being pregnant is, made me want to vomit which considering he was doing it half-naked, was quite sad.

Meanwhile, Brooklyn keeps her coat on, in her bedroom, the entire time. She was already wearing a big blazer! Just have these scenes in another location, damn it.

I know I should be worried about Lucky, but I’m not. If he survives it would be a waste of time and if he doesn’t, and they only brought JJ back to kill him, I’ll have many other feelings.

I was thinking more about the arrogance of a hotshot surgeon than his personal issues. Though a lot of that could just be the actor. JT is insufferable on Y&R.

While he was in red boxer shorts at the beginning, he had changed into sweatpants and shirt during the commercial break. By the time, BLQ finally revealed that she had already experience childbirth, he was fully clothed.

Yes. While I would never wish that on a real person, and I know that I shouldn't wish it on Willow who grew up in a cult and was sexually abused by its head but she has reached the level of where there needs to be some consequences.

Lulu's face when Dante said the fertility issue was with Chase was UCG. Anyone can be infertile, you dolt.

Finally the dumb Gio secret is out—to Chase, at least

It's not as if there's anyone who's more qualified than Girl Detective. Come on!

Lulu needs to talk to Kevin—or someone professional—about her resentment toward everyone moving on with their lives while she was in a coma. It's really unhealthy, and it's not doing anyone any favors. Especially not BL. Lulu needs to back off not because BL is having fertility issues but because Lulu is being completely unreasonable.

So Joss has now killed someone. Have all of Carly's children killed someone?

The show was underwhelming. I liked KB, but I'm glad Cyrus is done. I was tired of watching him Bible thump his way through his scenes. And bitch, you weren't God's instrument. You were just a serial killer trying to justify your murder spree. And you couldn't even do it properly since Lulu is still shrewling around.

Hey, Lulu. Men also have fertility issues. Thanks.

And, honestly, it would be one thing if Emma was a little arrogant. But they're writing this shit like she legitimately does not know how to speak to people at all, so Gio has to keep stepping in and instructing her. I keep flashing back to this Parks & Rec scene:

After Jason promised Sam’s grave he wouldn’t kill Cyrus, I held my breath as Joss scrolled through his contacts, because Jason is already lying for one of Carly’s kids. He can’t take credit every time they fuck up.

It was kind of maddening to listen to the three city leaders think they had to choose among the underhanded to accomplish the new project.  And pretty strange that a city named Port Charles wouldn't have a municipal entity that owns and operates the waterfront.  Did they sell Sonny his piers as a fund-raiser?

I like that Lulu is finally acknowledging what she's lost in her life, and how it has affected her relationships.  I don't think she owes anybody any special consideration, and they don't necessarily owe her any, either, although it would be an empathetic thing to do.  But, really, it's just the circumstance, and she will be the one who has to work through it.  Hopefully some of her friends (and maybe a former husband) will help her.

I guess we're going full speed into the devolution of Drew into an unprincipled lothario.  He wants what he wants, and he's going to push for it, and take advantage of his superior age and status, even though Willow is making it clear that she's either not ready or not so sure.  Drew wants it to be a done deal before Michael makes it back.

Can't help but wonder if Anna's lack of authority and action is wearing on Finola.  I imagine one gets protective of one's character after so many years, and the writers are currently ruining Anna.

Can't help but wonder if the rest of PC (and we) will be subjected to an ongoing murder mystery, even though Joss and Jack know it's over.  Sigh.

Finally---thank you Jeff Kober.  You did everything you could with the dreck you were given.

Yikes, Drew was so creepy trying to sell Willow on moving in. Dude, she's still MARRIED.

When he walked over to the framed picture of the two of them, I have expected him to start monologuing about how happy they'd be, I was not expecting Jason to show up.

And after dragging on ( Sam died during November sweeps) this story certainly wrapped up in a hurry. Washington Kober's contract up or something?

If the stuff with Willow wasn't so disturbing, I'd enjoy watching Drew sleaze around town. But his manipulation of an obviously emotionally vulnerable woman pushes this into really gross territory.

He goes on and on about how great it will be for everyone to live together in the house he bought, and we saw neither hide nor hair of Scout.

I'm not sorry to see Cyrus go—he really overstayed his welcome, as GH villains always do—but I like that he got in one last dig to Joss: "Who's the murderer now?"

Anna sipping coffee at GH doesn't really say "I'm in charge of the PCPD." And way to totally fold and let Dante help find Cyrus. "We could use everyone we can get," she says, and shrugs.

I noticed there was no photos of Scout on the mantle next to his creepy pic of him and Willlow.

Drew is such a liar. He told Willow that he got the place for him and Scout and didn't realize how big it was and then came to the realization that it would be perfect for him, Scout and Willow and her kids. Again liar. He told Lucy to get him a place with 5 bedrooms because he already planned for Willow to move in.

He also better watch his back. Now that Cyrus is dead, he is now the person everyone in town is talking about in distaste.

I would say I don’t recognize Anna longer, but that isn’t true. That happened around the Heinrich is/isn’t/wasn’t her spawn with Faison. And typing that made me 🤢🤢🤢🤢.

Anna, please get over yourself. The Bald-Headed Booby was planning on killing Lucky FIRST. Had already tried and also sent a hitman after Isaiah, before he even KNEW about you and Jaysus. You ain’t that speshial.

If this were any other non-vigilante show, which I don’t think there are any-Mini-Cujo would have been hauled in for questioning because HER ASS was at the suspected killer’s place, and she had broken in there.

Will Not!Brennan hide the body, so the PCPD can run around in circles? No justice for Cyrus’ victims. But hey, this twaddletwat got “justice for Dex”!🙄🙄🙄🙄

I can’t help but 🙄🙄🙄🙄 so HARD at everyone thinking Drew has any influence or is a “powerful” Congressman. His ASS has been glued to Port Charles instead of being in DC. But, soaps!

The only enjoyable scenes were of Elizabeth, Laura, and Aiden. As Lulu showed up at the end.

That was TOTALLY JJ in the previews-I paused my dvr.

Is anyone else as bored with the "Esplanade" as I am?  And to make it worse, it involves three of the most boring males on the show: Sonny, Drew and Sidwell. Too bad Laura is involved in that snoozefest.

Was it weird that there was no background music at The Savoy when Auntie showed up?  Was it already closed down or what?

Poor Chase -- had to put his clothes back on after that sweet but cheesy romatic moment.  Brooklyn, you ungrateful sap.

Curtis, I think the dark energy is already in DC.  Drew can't make it any worse.  Is GH heating up stories with it's AA actors to compete with the upcoming Beyond the Gates? Fine -- I hope this Doug friend of Auntie's is as hot as Isaiah.

Oh, and Joss shot Cyrus. 😐

I thought it was silly that Liz had to wait until they got Lucky in a room at GH  before announcing that he'd been given digitalis.  Yes, for the drah-mah.  But I would suspect the paramedics have digoxin on hand to counteract.  Then we wouldn't get Isaiah saving the day.

I wonder which unfortunate intern gets handed the Dustbuster to clean up after rose petal romance.

Same! It’s just faux draaama at this point with Isaiah looking like he’s got bad news and with Lucky with that thing over his face tomorrow. Especially since Elizabeth told him it was digitalis and Isaiah was able to immediately save the SLS when Cyrus injected him.

If Amanda Setton is having body image issues, I truly feel for her; it happens a lot, particularly in Holly-weird. But if that's the case, the directors need to find a workaround; that scene was light-years beyond UCG. Plus, she had to be burning up under all those layers in combination with the studio lights.

It will be difficult for me to say anything negative about Carly Jr. going forward. In that moment, she acted like a REAL Spencer and finally rid the show of one of its biggest annoyances. My guess is that in exchange for Brennan's help, Joss will eagerly join the WSB. Besides watching Snarly Sr.'s head explode, that might be one of the most interesting things to happen on GH in ages.

Btw, I've been watching the previews and Jon Lindstrom has a significant role on Beyond the Gates, which I'm looking forward to. Hopefully, he'll still be able to keep appearing on GH; Kevin Collins is a personal fave.

I have feelings for Drew, too.  Mine involve a comfy chair, a box of wine and a woodchipper.

Brooklyn and Chase aren't exactly a compelling couple, are they?  Also, does he always present as dumb as a post?  He's pretty but I wouldn't want to try and read by the wattage powering that brain.

Any chance Lulu might relapse into the coma again?  It would be especially nice for her to do a Brigadoon and only wake up for a day every hundred years.
