Wow! Today's show covered all the bases; shilling for No. 7, complete with "company beauty expert" and touting the accomplishments of his son. Since I missed most of it, did he also pat himself on the back for his: books, how long he's been doing this and that it is definitely NOT his first rodeo?

What a hack! What a joke. Springer 2.0.

Yeah. Imagine getting turned down for a show like THAT!

Really? This dude goes to all that trouble and time, and WORK and he does what? Just stuffs his face again?!! These people are hopeless pathetic messes. This is all of your own doing.

And that kid in tomorrow's show? Nico? Is he related to this guy because he sure looks like it!

That's actually going to be Monday's show*; tomorrow's show is about the girl who was held captive and her captor claims that it was consensual.

(I thought that was a girl at first until I saw the semi-topless shot.)

*another angry/violent video game-addicted son, the topic Dr. Phil just can't stop covering.

Now don't forget the ever popular Cat Fishing episodes spotlighting incredibly stupid people who handed over their life savings to some idiot they have never laid eyes on, a dead beat son/daughter who lives in a car, is addicted to meth/smack/crack/booze, is completely subsidized by very stupid parents, has never held a job and the sucker parents got stuck raising their grandchild/children, an out-of-control asshole teen but I guess that's been covered in the above quote or, last but not least, a husband/wife screwing around. That's pretty much Phil's playlist.

Have I left anything out?

Sorry, I can't watch shows where the topic involves people that have been tortured.  It's too upsetting. Where are the so-called teaching moments? Urgh.

I'm not fond of Phil arguing with delusional people either, while the audience laugh. Today's episode was a case in point. The guest had serious issues and was not treated with compassion. Her family, her niece excepted, were more concerned about themselves and her father was a bit of a clown. How do they know she wasn't raped? She was delusional so it's hard to tell.

Next week includes angry, violent son #666, mooching moms and exploiting covering the Doomsday Couple story:

Quote

2/24: Our Device-Addicted, Violent Teen Controls the House

Kathi says she lives in fear of her 14-year-old son, Nico, who refuses to attend school and has charged thousands of dollars to buy tokens for video games; when she tries to get him to put down the controls, he terrorizes the household.

2/25: My Mooching Mom Has 5 Months to Get a Life

Cindy's daughter, Cheyenne, is a 24-year-old college student, her primary caretaker and sole financial supporter; Cheyenne's boyfriend wants to propose but says he doesn't want Cindy ruling their future.

2/26: A Blown Inheritance and Threats With a Loaded Gun: Our Mother Is out of Control

Siblings say their mother, Sherry, has blown through a $250,000 inheritance in the past 11 months by running up bar tabs with her friends and strangers, buying lavish things, popping non-prescribed pills and washing them down with rum.

2/27: Doomsday Couple Flee to Hawaii: Family of Missing Children Speak Out

Lori Vallow appears not to care that two of her children have disappeared, and she is in Hawaii with her fifth husband, Chad Daybell; four untimely deaths surround Lori and Chad; family members speak to Dr. Phil.

2/28: Real Life Pretty Woman ... Not so Pretty Ending!

Jessica believed that once she married her Prince Charming, Jerry, she would never have to work as an escort again; 27 years later, she says he is a lying, uncaring psychopath, and she has been raped and abused multiple times by her clients.

Mooching Mom will only work out for the daughter if fiance sticks to his guns, and they move away from the mother, and they never let her in the door to their place.  Otherwise, the old bat will be parked in their home for life.

The one on Wednesday might be fun too, where the woman blew through $250k in less than a year.

"Device Addicted Teen" episode on Monday...,what is wrong with that kids speech?  It's almost like the way a 4 year old speaks. And he's really overweight for a 14 year old. What a mess. All 3 of them

Dr. Phil always says, "What's your payoff?" when people are doing really senseless things.  I wonder what is the payoff for that kid's behavior when he is dirty, foul-mouthed, etc., etc., etc.  And when they send him away to "detox" from his addiction to video games, the parents bring him home after 9 days because it's cold and it's like a boot camp.  (In other words, exactly what he needs.)

Dad is so dysfunctional he "passes out" whenever a hard decision needs to be made, and Mom thinks the answer to the son's threatening behavior is just to lock up all the knives.  I hope the older son stays away.  These folks have created this mess, and are not willing to proactively do anything to fix it.

Hmmm.....too late for that. Already done and probably in no small part to seeing totally bat shit crazy money-sucking brats on shows like this.

Anyone else not think that these segments taped "at home" are phony as hell?

Come on...there's a bloody CAMERA CREW there, in their home, and they're just supposed to be catching the person acting like a total unhinged asshole nutcase? Or how about those poignant really stupid shots of them looking off, wistfully in the distance.

Starting with the good "doctor" - who has questionable credentials to begin with - this show is so full of shit, it's ridiculous.

I wish a kid like this was "acting" for the cameras but I can say that all three of my kids have known kids like this when they were in elementary and middle school. Both of these parents are woefully dysfunctional as parents. Good grief...they have zero parenting strategy or skills with which to deal with their son. Not surprised they allowed him to leave this wilderness camp after nine days. I've seen this particular program showcased a few years back on TV. I forget the network, might have been MTV...anyway...it's located in the Northwest and the "hikes" are in the desert of Oregon and in the surrounding hills. They sleep in tents and the weather is brutal. Very rugged camping and conditions for kids like Nico. Most get through it but others cannot hack it.  Frankly, I think Nico would have been better served to be put in a therapeutic residential treatment program/school where he gets therapy, schooling and therapeutic activities like horseback riding and caring for a horse or another ranch type activity. Now he's back to square one with all the dysfunction and the physical abuse/anger that is raging around him and to him. And...he's getting older and bigger. It's scary to think that he could be one of these lone wolf "incel" guys in a few years using the internet to buy guns and using them...Dr.Phil goofed on this one. Wrong place for this particular child.

Does anyone else think the current episode about "My Mooching Mom has 5 Months" is fake? The daughter is so clueless, the boyfriend is a fool, and the whole thing is just bizarre.    The mother getting banned by QVC for using several accounts, in the daughter and other relatives' names is called identity theft, and since the accounts weren't paid, why isn't there anything on the show about collection agencies, or fraud charges?     Plus, if mommy dearest is told to leave, she's not going without an eviction notice.     The mother is a total fraud, and I'm wondering if everyone else involved is also.

I could have skipped  Dr. Phil's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, fortunately, I got to the mute button.

Something I don't recall their following up on . . . they said the kid had charged up thousands of dollars (on the parents' credit cards) to buy gaming tokens.  Why in Heaven's name did the parents not CANCEL those cards, or notify the credit card company to put restrictions on them?

They all apparently reveled in their mutual dysfunction.  Run, older son, RUN!!!!

I record it and thankfully fast forwarded it.  I wonder if anyone really watched it.  Crazy mooching mama has a problem for sure.  If that guy marries the caretaker daughter he may be in for a marriage of misery unless he has gonads the size of Texas.  Moocher is not going to let go without a fight.

It takes a lot of cajones to mooch off a kid who is still in college and just trying to get by. I asked Poetic Jr if he would mind if I moved into his off campus apartment with him and he would have to wait on me while I watched TV all day and shopped online using his credit and financial aid. His eyeroll was huge.

Clearly most of mom's problems were mental. Lots of people have arthritis and work and support themselves. I think she is just freaked by the possibility of not being cared for, like she has her whole life and has retreated into a faux reality of sickness. She doesn't need the PnP Center, she needs a life coach and a social worker.

My family has the condition that she claims she has.  Most of us are fine for the most part (I have to be careful while walking so I don't turn an ankle causing massive damage) but my brother has his aorta replaced at 45 due to the condition.  And he works everyday like the rest of us, so he using that as an excuse not to work is BS

Ever so humble, Dr. (?) P. must brag about his "star" on the Walk of Fame but as some of us already know, ANYONE can BUY a star on that street. Yep. You BUY IT....YOU DON'T EARN IT so just yet another thing he has to bluster about.

In keeping with my theory about the show being mostly fake, haven't you ever wondered why the same above-mentioned camera crew are always there to witness the screaming, shrieking and general bat shit crazy behavior of this person at home?!!!

I'll just let that sink in and mention that a friend of mine got banned/blocked from the Dr. P. Face Book page for expressing views that were "too honest" and questioned everything from Phil's credentials - still under scrutiny - to these phony "at home" sneak peeks into this idiot's life.

Maybe he's looking to claim the mantle from Jerry Springer or Maury Povich.....other purveyors of quality television shows.

You should be more careful about asking him questions like that.   He could have sprained a few eye muscles.

As for the Dr. Phil credentials, he hasn't been a licensed therapist in years, after his ethics issue where he used to practice.   During the Britney Spears hospitalization, when he made all kinds of statements about her, a complaint was filed with the California licensing board.   Their ruling was that Dr. Phil was an entertainer, and not bound by the confidentiality rules a real therapist must follow.  Here's an article from that time, and it discusses the licensing issue for Texas, and California:

YES! THIS! I know a family that has a son on the spectrum and this kid's behavior reminded me of him. He is definitely developmentally off and there were other things like the lack of eye contact, the obsession with gaming, no insight into his poor hygiene, no friends...he might have Aspergers. Sticking a kid like this in a wilderness boot camp would be catastrophic. From what I've read, the Sandy Hook shooter, Adam Lanza, was an Aspie, albeit on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the most dysfunctional, he was probably an eight...he had much the same life as this kid. Obsession with violent video games, dropped out of school, no friends, dysfunctional relationship with his mother that some said was abusive on his part, isolated and used the Internet to troll and convey violent thoughts to strangers in gaming rooms. If I can see this, why couldn't Dr. Phil? And again...shilling for the PNP Center and sending the Dad there. Dollars to donuts the father never went there...BTW...reviews for PNP Center are terrible!!!!

The PNP center isn’t going to do a thing for this woman. The reviews I’ve read about that place are all terrible. The moocher needs someone to help her find a low cost or senior apartment and then she can apply for welfare if she won’t work ( that might force her to work). My son is in college and he wouldn’t have the money to support me if he wanted to; it does make me wonder if she already is on food stamps or some kind of assistance.

Exactly! That's why I'm calling bullshit!! This show is so bloody fake. Do you honestly think that any parent would be this stupid because if they are, then not only do they deserve this ridiculous behavior but I hope this idiot kid never leaves home!!!!!

I can just imagine when the Dr. Phil crew arrives at the house. "Okay. Now in this shot, just scream and shout like a crazy person." "Look wistfully off in the distance" This is as phony as when an audience member is plucked out to participate in something and they're already miked.

There are often times when they are showing a graphic of something on that large screen (not where Dr. Phil and his guests are sitting).

I WISH they would STOP swaying the camera back and forth when they are using that screen.  When people are trying to read, they do NOT need motion.  It detracts from the purpose of the graphic - to provide written information clearly and easily read.  If they stopped with the movement, they could even enlarge the graphic a bit, as they wouldn't have to bother showing the large pedestals/supports on each side of the screen.

Next week: March is here, so we'll be getting three new episodes a week for the next few weeks; this is the first week.

Quote

3/2: Drunk and in Denial

3/3: Extreme Sentencing: Bail Reform

New bail reform takes away judges' power to set bail for misdemeanors and nonviolent felonies; an innocent man takes his own life because he can't afford bail; drunken driver who killed someone is released; Duane Chapman ("Dog the Bounty Hunter").

3/4: Young Parents at War: Baby at Risk?

Wade had a surprise baby with his ex-girlfriend, Margaret; his sister JenaLeigh and her mother, Jeanne, say they are now worried about the baby's safety because, they say, his parents have a physically and verbally abusive relationship.

Originally aired on November 8th, 2019

I think the two-parters and repeats are to protect Phil from overworking. He’s obviously in physical distress and is mentally confused. He repeats himself constantly, searches for his words and drags out his shows until I nearly fall asleep. He needs to quit. Now

Today's "Drunk and Denial" woman was clearly an alcoholic, and hopefully she will get straightened out, but I hope she isn't going to do it for her grown children because she could be sober for years and they still wont let her visit if she smells like smoke.

Most AA meetings are blue with smoke because many of those in recovery smoke like chimneys.  It helps them deal with things.  I lost sympathy with her son when he mentioned the no smelling like smoke rule.  No child was ever harmed by grandma's smell, not even the ones who spray themselves down with cheap perfume.

Saw the one today and the hopeless parents with the toddler that grandma carts between her house and his house.  And babysits endlessly (but vows not to rear the child) but will not let CPS get involved or quit enabling son and girlfriend.  I do feel for her.

Dr. P cut the episode short to talk about mysonjay's new meal plan for people that cannot cook.  Dorm student burns popcorn and cannot even boil water.  Mom seems proud of the fact daughter never learned kitchen skills (such as using a can opener).   Student get a year's supply of frozen meals and a free pressure cooker.  Just pour, add water and cook.

A pressure cooker for a girl that can do nothing in a kitchen.  Sounds like a good plan?

I was appalled at poorly he treated this dysfunctional mess of a “family”. No recommendations for family counseling or parenting coaching...just adopt the baby out or CPS will take over...now skedaddle and let me plug my kid’s new business venture. That poor little boy is going to grow up with two terrible parents and overworked grandmother. It might be better for him to be adopted out to a kind and loving couple but redneck loser daddy isn’t going to allow it even though he’s totally inept and has some very significant “adulting” issues and anger management problems. Very disappointed in Dr. Phil’s lethargic and ambivalent way of dealing with this.

3/10: 14 Years Old, Out of Control and Desperate for Love

Good representation today from Mr. Leonard's House of Wigs...as always.

"I'm not a drug addict! I'm addicted to pain pills." Um...so what do you think an "addict" is?

It would have been nice before Mizz Pill Popper slides off to rehab, for them to address her DRINKING. Why was that not even touched upon yet in practically every one of those "candid shots" she was guzzling from a hefty sized drink and I don't think it was Diet Coke! No mention of the dangers of mixing opiates with booze - a no-brainer that I'm surprised Dr. P didn't catch.

That one moment....."I've got some real mind-blowing, super-heavy duty shit to tell you......" but it's gotta come....AFTER THIS NEXT COMMERCIAL!!!!!! Doncha love how the Dr. P staff must know how to effectively use frequent annoying ads to build drama? So inspiring!

So what's with this different rehab? What happened to Coach Mike?

That sounds like an extremely good idea. I always assumed that the audiences for this show were mostly tourists. At the moment it doesn’t seem particularly responsible to put 300 people from all over the place in very close quarters for hours.

But they’ll have to change the set if it goes on too long. Because it will look weird.

I am always leery when they don't have an audience because it usually means it's another exploitive, exclusive interview session with someone or on something I just don't care about.

What they should really do is suspend taping of the show for a few weeks in its entirety.  They have enough programs available for re-runs to fill the time slot.  If it means they have an abbreviated season or it goes longer than normal, so be it.

It doesn't help the guests that have to fly there to be protected from exposure.

I usually have Dr. Phil on when I'm just putzing around the house.  Today's old rerun was the woman in Delaware who was charged with selling her baby.

I looked her up, just to see what happened afterwards.  Gee - did the good doctor mention that this baby was born ADDICTED to opiates?  But she was SUCH a good mother!!  "I only have this one job - to be a mother - and I'm GOOD at it."

The estranged daughter of the man who was charged and imprisoned for his wife's death and then exonerated and released when his friend confessed to the crime was horrible.

She accused her father of abusing the mother based on the words of her grandmother and other maternal relatives that did not like him...she made an accusation with no evidence. She mentioned nothing about the fact that her mother was having two affairs with two different men the time of the murder. I was appalled at her demeanor towards her father and the way she treated him. The guy was working three jobs at the time to support his family for heaven's sake. He was wrongly accused of a crime he did not commit and she's sitting there accusing him of physically abusing her mother with no first hand knowledge just the brainwashing of her grandmother and other relatives. I really feel badly for this guy...he's in a lot of pain. and his daughter is just an awful human being. I hope he can move on from this and find love and comfort elsewhere...his daughter is not a nice person.

I don't know if i agree.  I feel the daughter is as much a victim as her father and mother.  She's probably in a lot of pain herself.
