Million Dollar Listing LA - General Discussion

So, Josh and Josh co-listing on the Barbie penthouse?   It will be an interesting pairing.

Please tell me that they won't show the Heather and Tracy music video.   That video was ridiculous.    It wouldn't sell me on looking at the house.  I didn't like the one potential buyer who complained about having to walk to the elevator.

I think Heather just has no muscle tone, she's skinny and always had been, but simply doesn't have any muscle tone.

I love the Barbie/Mattel penthouse, that is a fantastic view, and a lovely penthouse.   Did they say how much the maintenance fee/condo fee is?

So the Brits are gone in favour of the Tracy and Heather Show? Ugh. I'd rather have Fredrik back.

Many of the scenes are so fake, including the one where they just happen to come up with the video idea. How in the world is that supposed to sell a house when the house is barely featured? And Tracy looked more like Flagg than Altman.

I did like the penthouse because as the one prospective buyer said, it didn't look like the typical cookie cutter condos being built these days. I loved the fridge, and in general the space looked warm and inviting. What was up with Flagg continually saying "And it can be yours for 9 million"? That would turn me off and make me look elsewhere for that reason alone.

In any case they have ruined the show by adding too much Heather and Tracy.  They need more than 4 people to carry this show, or at least more than this particular combination of 4 people.

My theory on Heather is that she's not a classic beauty, and she comes from very humble beginnings.  She was Madison's assistant, and met Josh Altman at a broker's open (I think?) which pushed her into the competitive world that is L.A.

Competitive in terms of who has more money, more power, better car, and in terms of "beauty".  I put the word "beauty" in quotes because it's a different level in L.A. than anywhere else.

In  L.A., she's competing with literal movie stars.  Skinnier is seen as a bargaining chip:  if you're super skinny, come sit over here.  I mean, anyone can get extensions, eyelashes, nails.  But skinny, and super super duper skinny, is seen as a virtue.  So she takes it way too far, to the point that yes, it appears to be an issue.

Watch the Real Housewives shows.  In Beverly Hills, no one can ever be as skinny as Lisa Rinna.  Or Dorit.  The other women work out to within inches of their lives, have lipo, wear Spanx.  But the actual skinny is seen as a massive virtue.

My theory is that all of this stems from insecurity.  Humble beginnings + being thrown into the spotlight of extreme high-end real estate + 60" High Def TV = an issue.

Heather was a good looking girl when we first met her as Madison's assistant and when she first married Josh, not as skinny as now & certainly not overweight, just the right size for her height. Now she looks like a skeleton and it looks scary and unhealthy, hopefully Josh sees this and is able to talk to her about it before it's too late, there's a reason he liked her originally & it's probably because she was different to the usual skinny, overly made up, shallow LA women that he was meeting.

WHO is going to buy that house based on that video? If just an excuse for Tracy to impersonate Altman  - what serious buyer would know - or if they even knew, would care? How does THAT sell THAT HOUSE??

Maybe it was just an excuse for Heather to prance around in a bathing suit? At least it was a break from Tracy & Heather's ever-present stilettos, hanging jackets & cut-outs or abs-out whore-wear.  They think they're dressing "professionally" but clearly not thinking about WHICH profession! World's oldest?

This show is circling the drain. There's just so many ridiculously priced homes that supposedly yield millions in profit after 1-2 years to go around.  The sour looks on T & H's faces about that 2-year lease deal could be their new reality.

Yes! I miss the Brits and even Fredrik to some extent. Josh and Josh co-listing and Tracy and Heather is such BS. These people are all successful in their own right and don't need to co-list with anybody. They have enough connections they don't need to share commissions.

Heather seems to be trying too hard to fit in with the successful crowd. Way over board. She's now a partner with the Altman bros and head bitch in charge of the team but if not for Josh she would just be another one of a million agents in LA.

Does anybody care about seeing Tracy's kid venturing in to real estate? Is she trying to get her own Netflix show like Kyle Richards husband and their kids? Please.

“To Sell Or Not To Sell”:

I am so glad Altman reconsidered his executive decision to move. That is a something you always consult your spouse about, period. He did something similar when they were first married. Him always putting himself first will eventually erode that marriage.

Say what you will about Flagg, the man is shrewd and knows how to deal.

It was interesting in this episode to see the emotional attachments people form with their homes, both with Heather and Tracy’s friend. You need to respect that. Tracy did. Josh really didn’t.

This season is just not it.  I never had a problem with Tracy, per se, but teaming her up with Heather just doesn't serve either of them.  The constant need to look like models when doing showings, the silliness this week with the video, it's all so fake.

Heather’s stillettos at that open house made my feet hurt. Maybe the show is angling for another spinoff, or a catfight at some point between the two? (That would be so on brand for Bravo.)

EDIT — “Hazen” — If I were the seller, I would be damned pissed and embarassed at that video being used to market my  multimillion-dollar development. It is what it is with these houses: They are for a niche clientele, and they will just have to live with an unstable economy just like the rest of us. Those properties being built on a hill doesn’t look too smart to me right now, either.

So now Josh and Flagg are colisting. Reducing the cast to just four people (I’m including Heather here) was a mistake.

I'm still fine with just the Joshes, Tracy, and Heather. I don't miss the others. I don't miss the drama associated with the others. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I liked the Brits also but liked the one more who had the two girls. The other one seemed on hour away from spiraling down into his past partying days. Plus aren’t they with The Agency? I guess the show now is just the one brokerage and that’s why it is downsized.
I liked Feedrik in NY hated him in LA so glad he is gone.

I would like Traci more if she would stop messing up her face. I don’t mind her personality or that she is super wealthy I just find it hard to watch women with frozen faces. Including Heather in that also.

Random, Josh Flagg and Jeff Lewis walk the same.

Good. I must have deleted the last ep from my DVR too soon. That video is not worthy of a world-class real estate business. I can see it at a company party as a joke, but as a selling mechanism? Nope.

Him giving himself that award — and defending it — was the last straw for me. Just an obnoxious jerk.

Agreed.

Also the Brits were boring to me.

I used to like Fredrik, and then he became a bit too much, so I stopped watching MDLNY. Then he eventually wound up on the LA version. I'm glad that didn't last.

This is the same issue I had with the Brits and their Blowup Doll looking wives. 😵💫

I like the fact the Josh’s get along now, but I do kind of miss the Brit’s… the wearing the jacket on shoulder trend on the show ca go away anytime now! I wonder if the sellers who leased the house wanted to keep it long term or were hoping to sell in year or 2 as I don’t think the market will be back up by then…

Agree. And I have always disliked her entitled ass. Born into money. Now I dislike her plastic ass even more knowing she hates cats. So don't meet your cat loving client at a cat cafe if you are going to bitch about being with cats.

And I can do without plastic Tracy talking about Pussy Eating Sundays. She is so trashy.  Nobody cares about your old, recycled pussy. Your new boy toy is going to dump you when those "Sundays" start to stink.

When did it become acceptable for real estate agents to expose their gigantic fake breasts and/or their belly buttons while meeting clients or showing a listing? I get that they have nice bodies but why not save the exhibition factor for the beach? Or your SO? Or a photo shoot? I wouldn't care how beautiful I am, I would be very annoyed if my realtor showed up with their tits falling out of their halter top.

Am I becoming that "old" person who doesn't "get it?"

Nah. It would seem LA Realtors are a whole separate breed who take flaunting their bods to an absurd degree. There is a way to look attractive and professional, but a lot of the TV realtors dress like they're headed to a porn shoot in the valley.

I think the porn stars are dressed more appropriate than the Million Dollar LA Listing actors.

I used to like Josh Flagg back when his grandma was mentoring him on everything ln life. Now he is a big asshole with no moral direction in life. Money , hot young men and his feeling of superiority seems what is important to him. Nobody on this show is likeable.

Watching Josh and his fawning boytoy was just embarrassing. To go from Bobby to that kid is so sad.

Josh can shut up with his constantly telling his boy toy how miserable he was with Bobby. Maybe he should have gotten to know him more before being so eager to get married. I'm not impressed with boy toy at all. He's working hard on getting Josh and his money in his pocket.

Whoever told Tracy long face that she should part her hair straight down the middle and wear those long extensions should be fired. I know middle parts are the trend but I hate them. Nobody looks good with a middle part. There were a couple of shots with her hair parted on the side and a bit shorter and she looked so much better.

Tracy is supposed to be so classy and rich yet she has her daughter greeting realtors outside the front door of that beautiful multi million dollar home with jeans, sneakers and a crop top. How impressive. Maybe she should teach her kid how to dress for success.

Tracy got her "first job" when she was 16? More like millionaire Daddy allowed her to hang out at the office and paid her for it. I doubt her pay got docked if she was late or decided to duck out to go hang with her friends. And her daughter wearing sloppy jeans and sneakers for the showing? Although I realize that was a staged showing for the show and not a real one.

I don't resent the extremely wealthy for their wealth. I just get annoyed when some of them pretend they got their money from working hard and not because they were born into a multi millionaire family.

I am interested to see how they portray the downturn in the real estate market. Properties are not flying off the market like they were in 2021 and early 2022.

I loved your entire post but this ^^^ is the brutal, honest truth of Tracy and Flagg. I could be wrong but IIRC Altman is the only one who really worked his way into the upper echelon of realtors.

Agree. I think although Tracy was born in to wealth she still worked hard in the real estate industry. She could have laid around all day at the pool drinking margueritas and smoking dope but chose to work instead. Josh has admitted that if not for his parents and grandma knowing everybody in town he would not have the connections he has and he has also admitted he doesn't work very hard at all. Altman, on the other hand, although his dad is a Dr. and he grew up in an upper  class world he resented Flagg for his wealthy Beverly Hills lineage. Hated him for it, in fact. Now of course they are besties.

It also bugged me when Tracy said she would not tolerate lateness but when her daughter pointed out she is frequently late she said "Well, I'm the boss so I can be late". Yeah, that doesn't fly with me. I do not subscribe to the "do as I say, not as I do" mindset. It also negates the illusion she tries to create of how hard working she is. Many true hard workers are the first ones in and the last ones to leave. They don't stroll in late.

But of course if she shows up late she's not going to risk getting fired and being unable to pay her power bill.

Tracy's horrible sense of style and wearing appropriate clothing for the situation have been passed on to her daughter. The jean outfit undermined Juliette's selling ability. They both need to do away with the middle hair part and overly long hair that hangs into their face. It makes Tracy look haggard.

Weirdly enough, I was watching YouTube on Montjaro face while watching this program. Looking at you, Tracy. Heather Altman looks so unhealthy.

Juliette has good selling abilities compared to Alexa Mauricio. She has a future in real estate if she wants it.

I enjoy the friendship between the two Josh's and Tracy. The golden doodles must make an appearance on all MDLLA episodes.

I agree with Josh Flagg on the condo price. Hold out for the right buyer. That is a unique listing and deserves some time.

Unfortunately, women still feel the need to fall back on sex to sell. Even sadder is that they probably have to. The whole situation makes me want to hit someone ad scream.

Bobby felt he was an equal partner to Josh.  He could stand up to Josh and tell him when he was wrong, as any good partner would do.  Josh should appreciate this in a spouse, but of course he'd rather be with somebody he can control.

Flagg is starting to remind me of the Lesley Jordan character on Will and Grace.  it "funny" for a sitcom, not so much in real life.

I think Flagg looks at the Hollywood celebrities who were considered "eccentric" yet well liked.  Think of Paul Lynde and Charles Nelson Reilly.  Flagg thinks he can do the same.

The difference is that Paul, Charles, and the Leslie Jordan character had a playful relationship with the audience.  It was a fun case of,  "We know.  But he knows we know.  And we know that he knows that we know."

Perfect examples were Charles Nelson Reilly acting overly masculine and calling himself "Chuck".   And Leslie Jordan introducing his partner as "Benjie, my business associate."

Flagg doesn't have the subtlety to pull it off.  He doesn't appear eccentric.  He appears to be a jerk.

Altman's father is a physician and author, so I'm sure he and Matt never wanted for anything.

That said Altman's parents probably didn't have the wealth of Tracy's and of Flagg's families. So, yeah, he and Matt had to hustle for their careers since they didn't have/know people in the business.

Please erase what I said about "no drama" from last week. Flagg is going to suck up more airtime for how awful being married to Bobby was. 🙄

Sure, Flagg.

I used to like him more, but he's turned into a joke. I think Juliet's comments and facial expressions about Flagg are very telling, and she's only a teen. It's obvious she can't stand him. At all.

I am right there with you,  Tracy's daughter is darling because she hasn't yet jacked her face.  I hope Tracy doesn't shame into changing her natural self.  I can barely look at these artificial faces,  its so distracting.  And Tracy is a terrible dresser, her outfits are ridiculous.

on the other hand he keeps saying that 13 years is no big deal and people should stop bringing it up.

It depends on the ages of the two people.  30 and 43 isn't as big a deal as 23 and 36.  23 is so young!  Regardless, they haven't been together that long and that's more of a red flag (heh) for me.  I agree with Altman that he should take things slower (and I RARELY agree with Altman!).

I was rolling my eyes at Tracy and Heather discussing how their client made them take that stupid video down within hours.  No, ladies, they wreen't "jealous" they weren't in the video--it was super unprofessional.   Of course, so is the way they dress, so not all that shocking.

Juliet was pretty impressive with her showing of that house considering she's only 15.  It was nice to see her taking the internship seriously.

I think it's more disturbing how Flagg keeps saying that he's known his boyfriend "for years," like they have a long, rich history. Really Josh, tell me what you had in common with an 18 year old when you were a married millionaire in your early 30s.

This reminds me of how Madison used to be my favorite but then he really changed (or his real personality was revealed, not sure which). And now it feels like the same thing is starting to happen with Flagg.

No, ladies.

The reasons the Hazen seller did not like your video is because it was a joke; it didn’t feature the property; and it was all about you two. It was tacky and beneath everybody involved.

That property was going to be a tough sell no matter what. Why make it harder on yourselves, and  to say the reason the seller didn’t like it was. because he wasn’t in it? You’re joking, right? If I were the seller, contract cancelled when the listing time expires.

I really used to like Flagg, and I still have a great deal of respect for his knowledge of local history and architecture, but I agree with everyone else's assessment that he's looking for a lap-dog who won't challenge him. I was genuinely sad when he and Bobby split, because Bobby was capable of calling him out and going toe-to-toe with him. Bobby was GOOD for him. Not only is Flagg's new boy-toy thirteen years younger, but he looks like he's about thirteen! *Sigh* I hope Bobby finds success and contentment wherever he winds up.

Tracy does look ridiculous all the time, and I'm tired of hearing her crass boasting about her sex-life. I did love the home featured in her (poorly attended) broker's open. If I had tons of money to drop in L.A., Sunset Square is a neighborhood I'd love to live in.
