MD is best described as: You have a mason jar of 100 marbles. Each time you overexert your muscles, you lose a marble.  Most people's jars will replenish but if you have MD you jar doesn't refill. 100 marbles is all you get. Do you want to use these marbles now or later?

This is such a good and easy to understand description of MD. I wish you could go visit Ali's families and explain it this way (with visuals - the jar and marbles).

Everyone break out your finest paper plates, Mountain Dew and a fresh batch of cheetos on the floor... it's leah dawns bday! No, I'm not a teen mom creeper Who keeps track of their bdays, she is the only one whose bday I know because it also happens to be mine. I'm like 10 yrs older with no kids and no ex husbands, so I guess I did something really right, or really wrong in her book.

Happy belated birthday!

Should we ask to have someone change the thread title to reflect Leah's current age?

Actually, I think this is over a year out of date. I think Leah was born in 1992, so she's actually 25. We missed the change to 24.

IF they aren't doing this to seek attention and are back together then I'll root for them if they are mature about their relationship this time.

I always like to see kids get their parents back together as long as the reunion isn't going to be a toxic one to the family, which means, I hope Jeremy agrees to marriage counseling that Leah begged for and that Leah continues to work on herself (that's IF she's been truthful about her life change that is and isn't on drugs).

I agree if they are back together BUT I kinda hope they're not because I doubt they can be mature about it or that Leah won't go runnnng to pills and Robbie. My friend and her husband (who have a handful of kids together) have played the separate, get back together, file for divorce, reconcile game again and again. (Granted, hubby was an emotionally abusive, gas lighting cheater in her case.) The last time they separated, her counselor finally told her - you're doing more damage to the kids by modeling this unhealthy break-up-get-back-together-break-up cycle then you'd ever do to them by just divorcing finally and never letting the door to a romantic reconciliation happen. She told her that her kids will think that even committed relationships have to be all drama and constantly on and on/off cycle. That helped my friend never take him back again and forge her own single life.

The twins at least have Corey and Miranda to look at, but this getting back together and breaking up over and over when there are kids involved doesn't seem very healthy for the kids.

Also, HOLY HAIR EXTENSIONS, LEAH!

P.S. If Jeremy is naive enough to get back with her, I don't wanna hear any complaining the first time she drains their bank account for pills or she gets caught on the deer cam with Robbie. Your eyes are completely open, WV Lance Bass.

Your PS is SPOT ON!!! I could see him swooping in to be the white night again, now that the reality of his breakup is probably setting in. I'm sure Leah swears she's changed, and is okay with him being away all week, because she's so lonely now. She also has likely dropped out of school, and has no plans of how to support herself. I really hope this doesn't happen though, because Lance Bass had no interest in Leah until she started looking like she did when they met again.

I just don't think Leah is ready for marriage at all. She just doesn't bring anything to the table. She isn't capable of sticking with a job or schooling program, and is a terrible SAHM. She doesn't realize she needs to put effort into one of the other, and also always complains about what she doesn't have. When she's at home, she wants a job because she's "bored," but if she gets a job she can't handle it. She also complains nonstop about all the material items she feels she deserves.

Jeremy is also not ready for marriage because I'm pretty sure he's a serial cheater (as is Leah).

both are also incredibly immature.

Recipe for disaster!

Did she have like a reverse nose job or something? I don't remember it looking this much like Princess Vespa's "before" pic in Spaceballs. Maybe it's just the dumb faces she keeps making.

It's the way she wears her make-up which is hardly any. Back in the days she wore it like it was Bondo. She has really toned it down. Some of us have mocked her witch's nose. The visual snark thread has some great images of her.  At least Leah can look good when she applies herself, unlike Maci who is nothing to write home about no matter what she does to her face.

I think she's been telling lies and her nose is growing.

My nose swelled up in pregnancy and never went down.  Maybe it was the twins?

This reminds me of an In Touch or Us Weekly cover from several years ago with a beaming Leah on the cover with the tagline- Ali beats the odds! or something like that. I can't remember the whole article, but the gist was that Ali had maintained the use of her legs longer than the specialist had predicted she would, so therefore perhaps her prognosis was not so dire. Something to that effect. Leah and Corey and their extended families are adamant that Ali's continued ability to walk and run is clear evidence that the doctors are wrong in their insistence that Ali be confined to a wheelchair.

Which is so dumb- the doctors never said she physically couldn't run- he said she shouldn't be. The Messer/Sims clan are intentionally misinterpreting the doctor's orders.

In a way I sort of understand. I think Corey and Leah see it like this- eventually Ali's mobility will be limited to a wheelchair. She can go longer at half power, or she can go full throttle for a short period of time, and have no time left for half power. So, she's 90% now for the next five years, then wheelchair bound for the rest of her life. Or, she could be 50% for the next ten years, and then be wheelchair bound for the rest of her life. Is that extra 5 years at 50% worth giving up her 90% for 5 years? I mean, I'm making up numbers here, but if this was accurate, I could see some people (intelligent, educated people, that is) thinking 5 years at 90% beats 10 years at 50%.

This of course assumes the only affected outcome is the use of her legs. If overexerting herself now leads to further complications, besides just depleted mobility, then I withdraw my above comment.

I think part of the problem is how they think about a wheelchair. Most wheelchair users in healthy situations don't think of themselves as "bound" or "confined" to one. It gives them more mobility. More freedom, more of a life. Ali already doesn't have good mobility when she walks and runs. She could do much more, much faster in a chair. She seems happy in it when she's in it. When she's not, she falls a lot and can't keep up. Her parents are training her (even if unconsciously) to think of it as a punishment and a negative because of how THEY think of it, when actually she could have a longer, much more fun and adventurous life using one. The "90%" would be in a wheelchair. She could go everywhere, not get injured and not be nearly as tired as she likely is. Her being pushed to walk and run unsteadily and dangerously is what's at 50%, because she's constantly reminded of her difference in a negative way rather than learning to be cool with her disability. It's selfish of them and I don't think it will change. It's been years.

And yeah, they're definitely willing to harm their child in hopes of a "miracle." They know full well they're directly ignoring the specialist that they're wildly lucky to see.

I also think part of the issue is that they don't seem to value non-physical activities as much. Cheer and sports are all they seem to be familiar with. Are there no other clubs a kid could join?!

sorry for the dumb question but I seem to not be able to read what was written about Leah and Jeremy reuniting. I used to be able to read spoilers. What am I doing wrong? Or how can I read it? I really enjoy your comments everyone!

Thanks .

Nothing was said about them reuniting. It was just a photo Leah posted and her followers are assuming they are hooking up or getting back together.

The nose always looks bigger when the face gets thinner. She desperately needs some weight. She was a very cute girl - queen of the holler, in fact! Now she's so witchy looking. The new stupid heavy eyebrow trend isn't doing anything for her either.

Oh my God, I just want to cuddle up with Ali and do some art projects or something. She wouldn't be left out ... she'd just have different interests. Lots of kids aren't athletic (raising hand), let it GO.

Well Jeremy was just live on Instagram chatting about her is absolutely NOT with Leah. He mentioned she has brought a guy in to stay with her. He wants to know how he's the cheater as he is single and she has a side guy.

Very true. I guess Leah and Corey have failed to consider that while they themselves may be horrified to wake up one morning finding themselves unable to walk on their own, for Ali, walking and running isn't the holy grail they consider it to be. Sure, she may wish she could run effortlessly like Gracie, but in practice, it probably is slow, painful, and frustrating.

What they really need is someone to break it down for them from a mental, not physical, standpoint. That wheelchair does not equal horrible life, and if Ali's eventually going to be 100% reliant on one, rather than stave that off for as long as possible at the expense of Ali's comfort and safety, they need to embrace it so Ali doesn't fear for that time to come. They need to have a positive association with the chair. But they won't.

I suppose Leah probably values cheerleading because she feels it's the passport to a better life (the cheerleaders are popular girls. Popular girls get married and supported by their men. Unpopular girls have to work 40 hours a week on their feet at the Piggly Wiggly. The difference between being the Lady of the Trailer Park and being the one who serves eggs and grits to the Ladies of the Trailer Park is which one of them cheered in high school).

O.M.G. Yes!!!! I used to watch Toddlers and Tiaras and it would feature all these white trash Southern families spending thousands of dollars they clearly didn't have to stick their daughters in useless beauty pageants. I always wondered, what the hell's the point? Now it makes sense. I can absolutely see that line of thinking playing out amongst Leah's demographic and in a weird way, Leah's own life has reinforced it.

I don't understand why they waste time and money traveling to doctors appointments and then do the opposite of what the doctor says? Just stay home then and don't see any doctors.

Poor kid is getting so much pressure to keep walking/doing active things all the time. I wonder if her doctor watches this show. I know I would if I was her doctor (just out of curiosity - I wouldn't be able to help myself).

It is too hard for me to watch them continue to willfully disregard one of the top specialists in the country.  If participation in sports is so important for this family, they can easily find the child another role on the team (manager, fundraiser, hydration specialist, etc.).  This is a car slowly crashing into a brick wall.

Right? I adore Ali, but I'm sure Dr. Tsao has a packed schedule. I'd rather see her appointment slot go to a child whose parents are going to take his directives seriously.

Just as that clip ends it looks like someone takes her hand to assist her to first. It is entirely possible they then have a designated runner. Ali clearly seems to be at a point where they can no longer try to make her do everything just as all the other kids do but a little slower. Her limitations go beyond that now. I tend to think however her interventions are still most likely the ideas of other adults - not her parents. Leah and Corey are pretty fucked up. Perhaps a grown up Ali could sue for damages. May be the only way she gets some of the teen mom money.

There is a photo Leah posted of Ali on second base. She has no designated runner.

Leah mentions her lip shit more than anything. I guess college is just a memory.
