I do feel bad that Butch is continuing to use. I have family members who are addicts, but not to illegal drugs. It must be devastating.

Honestly I’m surprised Butch has made it to middle age with his addiction. April seems to have longer stretches of sobriety. 

Tyler will be devastated when Butch’s demons catch up with him. Tyler can be a douche, but he’s got a lot on his plate dealing with Butch and Catelynn (I don’t count Nova as she’s a little girl and is supposed to be emotionally dependent on him). Tyler would do better to cut ties with Butch and attend Al-Anon, but we know that’s not going to happen.

I was surprised Amber was drinking tequila because I thought she was sober and you’re not suppose to drink while you’re taking psych meds (and she was pregnant at this point of filming)! How long had she known Newmatt, two minutes? 

Ryne was either high AF or he’s got brain damage. Why is whatshername with him, is the MTV gravy train worth it? 

I feel bad for Butch. I know people who’ve been high most of their lives but somehow they manage. Addiction is a terrible thing. 

I thought Farrah got fired from this show? Gawd, she’s vile! And when does Sophia get ‘ home schooled’? The kid is weird but I blame her mother and  Deborah EMBA who talks to her like she’s one year old.

Quick impressions from this episode:

- Those scenes of them walking the carpet at the VMAs (or the Movie awards, whichever) made me sick to my stomach. This is why these girls are so effed up. They live in a fantasy world where they think they are accomplished celebrities when all most of them accomplished was getting knocked up as a teen and then continuing to make a series of bad decisions. Ugh. 

- Amber is dumb as a damned stump. This is like watching Matt: The Sequel in Plaid. How is she so stupid that she honestly thinks this guy is a good catch. Double ugh. Also leave it to Gary to once again act like the adult in the room and take the step to actually introduce Andrew to Leah. Did Amber think Leah could not see him standing there in his yellow pants? Was she just going to pretend he was an overly friendly Uber driver? And why did he have to pick her up at all? She could have totally avoided the meet the family "ambush" if she had just driven her own lazy ass to Gary's house and left Andrew home to keep an eye on the couch.

- I spent most of last season pretty frustrated with Cate and Tyler but find myself mostly feeling sad for them this season. Being Butch's kid cannot be easy and you can see it taking its toll on both of them at this point. I think they could really use some family therapy with April, Butch, Kim, Cate and Tyler together to really deal with all of the issues they have between them. 

- Farrah and Debra are lunatics. Sophia is not okay and I hope Farrah also has her in some sort of therapy. Maci and Taylor are boring as heck but kudos to them for finding a work space with a keg so they can be sure to keep their blood alcohol levels up at all times during the day - even during work!

Speaking of eating fingers, Catelynn. TyTy and Cate now sport "Tierra Reign" gear in every scene. Damn, where will I get my weekly shoutout to the "Golden Girls Collection" from Walmart?

Did you notice Rhiinne buzzing so hard at the restaurant that he was vibrating? Mac and her chins were not impressed.

I actively cringe during all of Ryan and Mackenzie's scenes. Partly because I'm skeptical of Ryan's sobriety (his demeanor seemed off at the restaurant and he appeared to be shaking in his chair) but also because all they ever do is snap at each other. I know they're in a stressful situation, but damn, I see no love between them. Say what you want about Maci and Taylor, but they at least appear relaxed in each other's company, whereas Ryan and Mackenzie can hardly carry a conversation.

Tyler tries so hard with his dad, but I don't think Butch will ever change his ways. I hate speaking in such unequivocal terms, but he's spent his life doing drugs and it's all he knows. It's sad that he's had so many opportunities to turn things around and can't escape his addiction. I give Tyler credit for supporting his dad even if it appears futile, because he obviously loves his dad and wants to maintain a relationship with him despite the tough circumstances.

I'm ignoring everything about Debra Danielsen, EMBA, because I can't tolerate her or Farrah when they're together. I will say that I think it's nice to see Farrah consistently interacting with Sophia, traveling to different places and letting her have new experiences. She seems like she enjoys spending time with her daughter and isn't just doing it for the cameras (ahem, Amber).

I'm curious about Andrew's behavior at Gary's house, because Amber asks to introduce him to Gary but he only got out of his car when Leah was with Amber and Gary wasn't in view. It felt like maybe he was trying to get Leah's attention and force a meeting between them. I'm also less than impressed at how comfortable he made himself with the alcohol backstage at the VMAs and then again at the restaurant. Andrew does seem less sleazy than Matt but I'm still wary. Dude didn't come from Malibu to Indiana just for a chance at tequila shots and Amber's gross game of footsie.

I was very uncomfortable with the way Amber talked about Leah in between the tequila shots. "She is perfect for me. She just gets me. She understands me. She just loves me." And then she added something like "And I try as hard as I can to show I love her." Um, who is the mother here? You shouldn't be relying on your 7 year old for that kind of validation and understanding like a BFF who puts up with all of your BS and still loves you anyway. Leah should be getting that FROM Amber no the other way around, at least not at 7 years old.

I have to say, I thought Cate & Tyler actually looked more put together than they normally do. While the walking Tierra Reign billboard look is annoying (looking at you too TTM), Tyler looked cutish in a normal sized baseball cap (sans "Baltierra" stitched on the side in Old English...such simpler times!), and Cate looked like she showered. 

Last week we had NewMatt's red pants of doom. This week Princess Consuela Banana Pants. Speaking as a Southern Californian, I swear we don't dress like that (back me up @GreatKazu). Is he running for president of Del Boca Vista?

Sophia looked cutish on the runway. She looks much better when her hair is tamed.

Gary & Kristina were making me lol having a serious conversation about Amber's new dude while both wearing t-shirts with funny sayings on them.

Also, my husband and I have been married for 20 years, but we want attention, so we're going to get some engagement photos, have a big bachelor/bachelorette party, buy another expensive dress, rent a venue, and spend a shit-load of money on a one night party.  I mean, it is about the wedding and not the marriage, right?

It's exhausting watching the dynamic of the Abraham family. Deb with that baby talk and long blond mane trying to make nice while Farrah talks over her and poisons her seriously disturbed granddaughter against her.  Watching this 8 year old, being (home)schooled by a drag queen on how to walk the runway (and what designer came up with those fugly clothes they were modeling?) was sad - she is obviously not going to be a runway model,so perhaps teaching her some basic skills like reading and writing might be helpful. Meanwhile, Michael and his wife suck up to their ATM and tell her everything she wants to hear. Michael is thrilled that FINALLY being a sycophant has paid off!

Amber - her eyes were extremely dilated in her tequila shot scene. Bitch was high and it had nothing to do with alcohol. 

She told Baby Huey her visitations with Leah are every Wednesday and every other weekend. That is 52 days in 2017 where she should have been with Leah at the very least, if she followed through with only the Wednesday visits. At that point, she only had TWO visits in the summer. Not sure how many before that where she actually spent time with Leah that didn't involve texting or Face-Timing. 

I hope Gary is keeping track of all of these non-visits the same way he is keeping track of non-payment of child support. 

Major eye-roll at Tyler telling Butch how he needs long-term help, not this 30 day jazz like before. Hmm...you mean the same way Cate handles her rehab?

And back to Ryan, I think he was just shaking because he was emotional in that scene. I don't think he was high there. I actually like what he had to say but something about it doesn't ring true to me yet. Just last episode, he was ranting and raving about Maci keeping Bentley from him and never doing anything for him and now it's a complete about face? I just hope he is actually going to therapy, and the therapist is helping him to realize things but just not completely buying it yet. 

 

On Farrah. I thought Sophia did a good job on the runway and was really well behaved while getting her hair and makeup done. Just nicely eating her M&Ms and being careful not mess up her lipstick. I did the think the whole drag queen thing was completely staged, and I cringed watching it. They acted like they were having Sophia practice for the runway but she only got up one time and didn't take it seriously at all yet they all praised her for her "hard work" and told her she did a good job. With that kind of false praise, Sophia will never know if she's actually doing a good job or not because she's praised no matter what.

 

 Also, wtf with Deb wanting to put a tattoo on Sophia's forehead for the fashion show?? In what world would that look good? Deb you should really stop trying to be hip and young when you are so far out of your element. 

 

On another note, I really think Farrah should completely cut off her mother. She seems to be a narcissist and only interested in hurting Farrah in whatever ways she can, like inviting Amber to the wedding and sending Farrah those passive aggressive articles.

Wow that's fucked up of them. And they just keep making Maci look better and better. Even though they addressed the wedding invite to Maci Bookout (not her married name) and Bentley only, Maci was still mature about it. Said she would just send the RSVP back letting them know she and Bentley would be there. I don't understand why they have to be such assholes to her. I see Mackenzie and Larry's handwriting all over this though. News flash Edwards family and Mackenzie, Maci is not the one that has done anything to anyone. Ryan's the one that's fucked up. Stop being assholes and, idk, try to appreciate that Maci and Taylor have taken such good care of Bentley all these years.
