Keith saying that he'd want Bush over Trump was such a white washing of the horrible atrocities that Bush did. I'm glad Joy called him out on that. Trump is bad, I get that, but let's not rewrite history and praise war criminals just because Trump is so awful. I'm sure the millions of Iraqi, Afganis, Somalis, and all the other places Bush got America into would have issues with Keith's statement.

I'm no expert on the DNC, and I know there were shenanigans that were uncalled for, but as I remember, Hillary Clinton had a lot of support and money behind her back before INDEPENDENT Bernie Sanders entered the race, running as a Democrat. I think it was just accepted as a fact that Bernie was somewhat of an outsider who could disrupt the race. I'm not saying that it was fair, but it was just a political fact. I used to like Donna Brazile, but I agree that this is awful timing for the release of her book, and it could cause problems for Democratic voter turnout next week. Plus it adds fuel to the Trump daily hysterical attacks on "Crooked Hillary". Ugh. I wish I could ignore  the whole topic of politics and whistle a happy tune, much like Meghan wants to do, but wait, doesn't she get paid to talk about politics? (She's useless and not very bright, to say the least.)

I can write off the comments here between Whoopi and Sunny because Sunny never pushes back. It's just Whoopi being a cranky old lady, and I think Sunny gets that. I think theres an edge there but I don't necessarily think it's always malicious.

 

Sunny and Meghan? They really, really don't like each other. It's palpable.

As a short-waisted woman with large breasts, I have to take issue with Meghan's red pants with black top tucked into the pants.  that look does her no favors.  

And Whoopi is committed to that scarf, isn't she?  It had disappeared for a while, I thought someone might have tossed it in the trash.  But no, she rescued it from under the wherever it was hiding.

I don’t even know where to start. Joy can shut up, Sara can shut up, Sunny can shut up AND Meghan can SHUT UP. And Senator Warren can also shut up. 

All of them were acting as if this was some new and earth shattering news, what Brazile has written. It’s not. Sara had me ? when she said when this all came out, she couldn’t believe it was true, but once she saw it in print, she has an epiphany and sees it as proof that it is true? What difference does it make NOW?! 45 is in the White House- Not Hillary. I don’t claim to know how the DNC works, but my understanding is that it was virtually bankrupt and it was Hillary’s campaign that kept it running and afloat? Is the outrage how dare they want to know or have a say/interest in how it’s run? None of them had the information or were in the know. 

And Joy? I can name at least two presidents that didn’t have a “star” personality who did good for this country. Shut up about “blah blah” that Hillary talked about what she would do. Because we are where we are because 45 didn’t have ANY policies and this is something you rail about against him.

Meghan is SUCH A CHILD. Unable to differentiate between troops who serve and the wars post 9/11 were wrong and the invasion into Iraq has caused more unnecessary deaths than the attack on 9/11.

And yeah, I agree with Keith-after 9/11, this country did come together and except for a few who couldn’t tell Sikhs from Muslims and killed them in the aftermath, there wasn’t  division among ourselves as there is now.  45 has NORMALIZED racism, uncivility and a whole host of other things. There is so much More I want to say, but it might veer off topic. Meghan is just so rigid and feels her opinions are the only right opinions and everyone else is wrong and causing the rift. It wasn’t until Keith apologized to her and her father and Dubya that she calmed down and came around. I don’t believe, as she does, that if 45 fails, that means the country will  fail.  And if she finds all of this “SO EXHAUSTING!” then this show is the wrong place for her.

I'm not completely sure if I grasped Oberman's point of Iraq but 4,486 American soldiers have died from Iraq. And I am sick and tired of Meghan playing her family's service card - many of us have family members that have served in various wars so she is not special. And I have faith in our country even if (ok when) Trump fails. Even her own father does not support Trump 100%.

My husband served in Vietnam and has always maintained that it was a totally unnecessary, stupid war which killed and maimed so many people on both sides. Little Miss Meghan needs to realize that criticizing a war and the loss of life that ensues is not degrading the service of those who were in the war. I hated the way she got up on her high horse talking about her brother's and father's service and insinuating that Oberman was insulting them. She is such a sheltered, simple girl.

OOOH!  did Meghan get pissy when Sunny mentioned the republicans and the campaign finance bill, and MM says, "OK, my father was the architect of that bill, but All right"  with a snotty expression, an eyeroll, and stroking her braid.  Then she chimes in with the "both sides"  bullshit.  Having someone so closely tied to the GOP on the panel seems like a mistake, as any criticism of the GOP is taken personally by MM. 

@Kenz  I remember meeting a group of guys form VVAW (Vietnam veterans against the war)  and they were all intelligent compassionate men who came back from the service determined to make a difference.  Since the Vietnam vets were the ones who were treated so poorly when they came home from their service, the country was divided between "killer soldiers"  and "peace & love hippies".  The VVAW really crossed that divide and stood up for what they believed in.

I finally got around to watching the rest of today's show.  Keith Olbermann wrote a book, he appears on the show to talk about his book.   after a couple of minutes, Meghan tells him she's tired of the rhetoric, and accuses him of "wanting America to fail."   Yeah, they made peace later, but Meghan seems to want a show where guests come on JUST to debate with her, so she can tear them down. (and nobody else better talk!)    There was no need to get tearful, then combative with him.  INTERVIEW him.  

Meghan slipped in a comment that she and Whoopi were on the same page, with wanting to unify the country.  WTF?

In regards to MM equating being against a war with not respecting the troops, if I sat in front of her and heard her spew such a manipulative narrative such as that... my response would be as follows ' Meghan, I respect the troops enough to not want to put their lives in jeopardy, nor sacrifice their lives, for a war that shouldn't be fought.  Unlike some people in charge then and now, I respect human life not to throw it away on conflicts that don't involve us as a nation.'  I'm actually surprised she's so anti-Trump since she's cut from the same cloth... getting fame/money due to family wealth/fame then from actual merit.

With that said, I will agree it appears that Sunny/Meghan don't care for each other... and I can tell anytime Sara H and Sunny try to joke around with her, she has such a sour puss face.  Jed at least could joke around and have fun.

As much as I love Joy I have to disagree with her about Bernie Sanders.  It's easy to play the woulda coulda shoulda game but if he had been the nominee the GOP would have come after him with a vengeance.   He might have resonated with millennials but I don't believe blue collar voters in the rust belt would have voted for him any more than they voted for Hillary.

I think Joy realises that Bernie had a very strong following, very! Young people liked him, and refused to vote once things got ugly. Joy knows this, she even mentioned younger voters.

that was my pet peeve about Nicole.  I started out liking her, although I don't agree with her a lot of the time.  She could make a rational argument about her position without getting ugly or defensive.  But I think she pretended that she was too busy as the mother of a toddler to know anything about celebrity stuff.  Really, Nicole.  When I remember to watch her MSNBC show I like her a lot.  Still don't agree with everything, but, that's okay.

I think you hit the nail on the head. She sits there all silent and judgey and waits for an opportunity to spew out her political views (often deflecting from the actual discussion to go to a talking point).
