I had not read the speculation that Ari would die.  While I wouldn't put it past Josh Griffith to write it, or Ken Corday to approve it, I would think they would both be smart enough not to actually film and air it.  It's bad enough they killed off Will instead of recasting with a different actor, but to kill his child is beyond the pale.

But as some other smart soul asked here, is Chase also an impostor? Because if not, I cannot see this working since Aiden's son raped Hope's daughter! Or would A/H expect them to just say "bygones!"?!

And, really, I'm sorry, but even IF the other guy was a fake, he had Aiden's face. I could not look at him without remembering that he tried to kill me if I were Hope. (GH had a similar story with Nikolas/evil doppelganger Connor, who raped his then-wife, Emily. Also a huge clusterfuck. And in that case, it did lead to their end, so...)

Do these "writers" (I use that term loosely and generously) even think here? Don't answer that.

I can't imagine Aiden's return will be anything but temporary, a weak attempt to appease his fans and play out the conclusion to his royally wrecked storyline....and possibly further prop Rafe.

I liked the guy, but I am bracing myself for a really unsatisfying return.

Exactly.   If these writers remotely try the "Oh, Ciara, Chase is sorry he raped you.   Let's try and move forward with our lives as one big happy family" via Hope.   Or god forbidden they have Ciara be like, "Mom, your happiness means more to me.   Chase raped me but you go be with Aiden.   It was the fake one who tried to kill you."  Like wtf it would defy so much logic!   I mean, in all honesty,  this is a spin on rapemance if they rekindle Haiden and it would feel like Ciara is being raped again if her mother betrays her like that!  

Then the writers would be single handily ruining the Hope character by sending her down a path a Sami or Kate would do -  chose a man regardless of every bad thing he has done.  For example, Aiden has lied to Hope,  cried like a little bitch in Portland when he and Hope covered up Chase accidentally killing his mother,  he lied that he had debt with the Dimeras, he possibly tried to kill Hope to escape his problems,  abandoned his son,  and son goes darker rapes Ciara -   FUCKING DREAMBOAT OF A GUY RIGHT THERE! In terms of propping,  I think Aiden will be the one who's propped.   Like someone said,  they are looking for the "hero" angle the writers will make good in classic Days or Josh Griffith/SB style of story telling the hero - Rafe -  will triump in this.   The writers, at least one can hope,  will hit beats before they go down the captain save Hope route with Rafe.   Plus I need Julie to be involved this storyline too!!   How could she not!   That's her sister and niece.   Julie would be perfect since she's the no bullshit type of the Horton women.   I would love to see Julie read Hope down if Hope gets into her head that possibly choosing Aiden is the right way to go.

I can blame Dena for something but I won't exclude Josh.  It's him who's been sending this show down a very dark path.  Higley is responsible for the Ava stuff sure but everything else reeks of Josh's twisted gothic vision especially the Ciara left field rape.  The virus outbreak most definitely sounds more like Beth Milstein's continuing work of the DingALing storyline revolving Paul.

Bringing closure to John's heritage was a good story idea and gave Mar some good beats, and now also Paul (hopefully, if this next storyline is a good one).

The stuff that's airing right now is all down to Griffith and Milstein. Higley's been out for two and a half months at this point. Don't get me wrong; I'm sure that when her material starts airing it will dreck, too, but for now she's off the hook. Everything that's happened since mid-February until late August is the handiwork of Griffith and Milstein. Dena's legacy is such that she's become the scapegoat for everything wrong with the show (which happened when she wasn't actually involved) while Josh Griffith gets the credit for everything went well (which was during their joint tenure). Josh really needs to get down on his hands and knees to praise the soap gods for giving him a writing partner that would be raked over the coals for all the crap he is actually responsible for. The Ciara rape story (along with the character assassination of Chase) - Griffith's idea. Apparently he believes the Ciara actress is phenomenal and that's why he keeps throwing her sexual assault plots to showcase her "talent". (And in the process he in fact destroyed a promising character (Chase) who was actually played by a capable actor.) Ava's murder, turning Steve and Kayla's teenage son into a cold-blooded killer - pretty sure it wasn't Dena who signed off on killing her pet character. Victor revealed to have let his innocent younger brother rot in prison for THIRTY years for the murder Victor committed (I am sensing a trend here) - another gem from Griffith. Paul perpetually on the sidelines, along with token gay teen Henry whose sole purpose is to fawn over Claire's (similarly non-existent) singing talent. The only non-white female revealed as a psycho nymphomaniac; the African-American teen boy depicted as having violent tendencies. The endless cycle of death and misery since the golden anniversary, now set to continue with the possible deaths of Will's only child and the sole surviving gay character (barely-there Henry whose last name we don't know doesn't count). There is really not a SINGLE moment of levity or hope.

God help me, but I'm actually looking forward to Dena Higley's return, if this is what Josh Griffith gives us.

I think Lani is a possible victim, as when they announced Shawn and Belle were leaving, they also mentioned that Lani had been gone since before the new year. So the timing is right.  Summer also is gone soon too, though I suspect there's more story to come before her exit.

Rushing Shawn and Belle back together is dumb. I like Belle/MM but since all we've seen the last few months is her in bed with Philip, I'm finding it hard to believe she was pining for Shawn. That scene with her, Shawn and Claire in the pub post jail is what has been missing this whole story to me. Too late now. Not to mention they've left 90% of Shawn/Lani's relationship on the cutting floor. So definitely not attached to them. Wanted to like Lani but they gave her nothing. And now she's probably a goner.

They probably think it's okay to kill off Tate because he's the spawn of an unpopular couple and they probably figure no one would care if he died. Maybe they want Brady (and maybe Theresa, unless she'll have another child with someone else), to be free from the responsibilities of parenthood so they won't have any reason to have them together anymore and Brady can continue boinking every woman he meets. Maybe there's a reason why he hasn't had a first birthday yet. This kid is not long for this world. I can't see Thrady having a wedding at all when their son is basically dead and I'm sure Brady will dump Theresa right after Tate's funeral because he has no reason to be with her or even marry her. Oh well, looks like the Donovan family line may die with Theresa & Andrew, and perhaps that's what the writers want all along.
