Popular Post slf April 23, 2018 Popular Post Share April 23, 2018 (edited) Bill was so delightful this episode I began to suspect that he was going to die. I thought "they'd better not kill him" just before he and Eve got to the subway station. I then convinced myself the show wasn't going to go there until Villanelle turned around and smiled at him. Poor Bill. Goddamn. To be honest, I wish the show had kept him. Sandra Oh/David Haig played wonderfully off each other and Bill/Eve was one of the three relationships on this show I cared about. I will say that I appreciate that this show both implied that there's some kind of sexual component to Eve's fascination with Villanelle while at the same time having Villanelle kill the person Eve trusted the most. catrice2 April 23, 2018 Share April 23, 2018 The previews where she bumped into him sealed his fate for me. I pretty much knew someone close to Eve was going to have to die, and she would savor killing the husband after she had tortured her with some other people, so Bill was the logical choice. I was sure after they had the talk on the bed, and when he saw her at the station it became a matter of when and how, not if. 7 Link to comment
walnutqueen April 23, 2018 Share April 23, 2018 SUCH a good show! Villanelle totally wants to fuck'n'kill Eve, but not before some prolonged psychotic foreplay. Poor Bill. Poor Bill's baby. :-( 15 Link to comment

slf April 23, 2018 Share April 23, 2018 (edited) Bill's baby girl was adorable. I have to say, as sad as Bill's death was the setup was really good. Starting in the station when he sees Villanelle watching Eve and he casually circles to follow behind her, and then stops her from boarding the subway just in time. Though it was obvious that Villanelle knew he was tailing her - she even waits for him on the other side of the road after the bus cuts him off - I think he was so alarmed for Eve that he simply missed a lot of those cues. (When he earlier asked Eve why she thought Villanelle had used her name it was obvious what he was thinking. Especially given Eve's description of Villanelle, which he remarked on later. Then seeing Villanelle at the station and realizing she had been following them all day and had likely been the one to steal the suitcase. Bill cottoned on quickly that she isn't just a threat in general but very specifically a threat to Eve.) And finally her leading him deep into the overpacked club, again waiting for him since he had to stand in line while she was able to just walk in. I liked the energy shift from her slow turn and smile - as poor Bill realizes he's trapped and she's going to kill him - to her swift, anticipatory charge through the crowd to him. Loved Eve using her bra as a cell phone holder while she changed, shaving her pits at the sink, having toilet paper stuck under her arm, Bill slapping his own ass, and Bill carrying his baby at a 20 degree angle. It's the little things with this show. Edited April 23, 2018 by slf 21 Link to comment

ElectricBoogaloo April 23, 2018 Share April 23, 2018 Niko: All chickens lay eggs out of their arseholes. Eve: I love how you say that. Bill: Let me guess. You think it was a woman. Eve: Well, she was found in the ladies', so yes. Eve: Please don't take me off the team. Carolyn: I can't take you off a team that doesn't exist. Villanelle: I like Berlin. Have you been before? Konstantin: Yes. Villanelle: Have you seen the wall? Konstantin: Yes. Villanelle: The Jewish museum? That is massively poignant. Bill: Kinks are totally specific. It's not just about pain. It's a contract. It's about someone else taking control. A spankifier wouldn't just spank himself, would he? I mean, what would be the point in that? Eve: You got him all hot with that no kink stuff. Bill: It's an important distinction. Eve: That you know so much about because... Bill: I lived [in Berlin] for eight years. Eve: And? Bill: I said yes to everything for five of them. Dark horse, aren't I? Eve: Should I pick up some fetish gear? Bill: Only if they have rubber chaps. Bill: You can't wear a bra with that dress. Whip it off. This is an important meeting. Eve: Oh, and important meetings require women to go braless? Bill: No, dresses like that require women to go braless. A monkey could tell you that. Bill: How's Niko? Eve: I think he's jealous, which I like but also find annoying. Bill: Jealous of me? Gosh, what does he think I'm doing here? Skulking to your hotel room and convincing you to take off your bra? Eve: Have you ever fancied me? Bill: Uhhh, no. Eve: Hmm. Bill: You me? Eve: No. Bill: Hmm. Eve: Well, that's a relief. Eve: Tell me what happened in Charlottenberg. Bill: Everything happened. Eve: Men? Bill: Yes. Eve: Were you gay? Bill: I just fall in love with whoever I fall in love with. Eve: How many men have you been in love with? Bill: Hundreds. Eve: Does Keiko know? Bill: She's got her own thing going on. Eve: Wait, so you guys- Bill: Well, I really wanted a baby and she was rich and ovulating. Bill: You want to hear something really freaky? The conditions have to be just right, but sometimes we have sex. Eve: You dirty perverts. Bill: Have you ever been interested in women? Eve: Not like that. Bill: Not even ones with delicate features, sort of catlike eyes that are completely inaccessible? Eve: That is horribly unprofessional. You want to hear about her tits? Eve: Why did you want to see me? What do you know? Jin: Okay, this information might make you uncomfortable. You have a bit of tissue stuck under your armpit. 8 Link to comment
ElectricBoogaloo April 23, 2018 Share April 23, 2018 Awwwww, Bill! I loved his relationship with Eve from the first episode and I really loved seeing them have so much one on one time together this week. I enjoyed their conversation back at the hotel but I was a little creeped out knowing that Villanelle was listening to all of that. I knew it was just a matter of time before Villanelle killed someone close to Eve but DAMN IT. As soon as Bill spotted Villanelle at the train station, I was chanting, "Don't get killed, Bill! Don't get killed!" I thought it was weird that Eve assumed Niko was jealous of Bill. I think he's glad her new job makes her happy but that he's a little jealous that it's taking her away from him. It just seemed so strange that Eve was been working with Bill for however long at her previous job and she thinks that Niko is suddenly jealous of her older married coworker because they went on a business trip together. 8 Link to comment

attica April 23, 2018 Share April 23, 2018 Apparently, fetish-surgery is a real thing. Which shouldn't surprise me, given, well, people, but there you go. tennisgurl April 23, 2018 Share April 23, 2018 No, Bill! Damn it no! I saw it coming as soon as he was doing his whole "daddy's gonna die" thing with his baby, but I hoped I was wrong! I loved his relationship with Eve, they play off each other so well, and him dying is going to be devastating for Eve. Although, maybe now it will finally sink in with Eve that she`s playing with fire. I think she`s deeply attracted to danger (and yes, there is a sexual attraction with Villanelle) but hasn't experienced very much of it, so its only now that its hitting her that this is real, and that she, herself is in danger of this crazy murderous person. The shift in Villanelles face when she saw Bill was so creepy. It wasn't a scary expression, it was more like excited and ready to pounce. You could tell the second she went in for the kill, as did poor Bill. The actress plays the part really interestingly. She can at first come off as quirky and cute, but then you see moments where something slips, and theres this off quality to her. She kind of reminds me of resident serial killer Andrew in The Assassination of Gianni Versache. A person who can be superficially charming, but as you see them more, its like they're wearing a human mask, and sometimes it falls off and reveals this weird void where normal human emotions are. It wouldn't surprise me to find out she was some kind of serial killer, or a thrill killer before she was recruited by this agency, and they just convinced her to kill people for them so she could kill people for money. Bill!!!! 15 Link to comment
Zoe April 23, 2018 Share April 23, 2018 I'm a little disappointed that they telegraphed his death so hard in this episode. Maybe if the baby had been in the previous episode or something it wouldn't have felt so sudden to humanize him a great deal before killing him. 10 Link to comment

Right up until she stabbed him I didn't think he would actually die. I knew she was luring him into a trap but I though Eve would get there in time and Villanelle would vanish in the crowd, just a very close call. He seemed really important to keeping Eve grounded so it's interesting to see what happens without him. Maybe he isn't actually dead though, the previews only showed Eve very mad but that could have just been in relation to the attempted killing. Right? AuntiePam April 24, 2018 Share April 24, 2018 In case anyone's wondering about the translation of "scheisse" (uttered by Bill in the club as he sees Villanelle coming for him) -- it's "f***". I don't watch previews and am sad to see there appears to be a funeral. Could he have survived? She stabs him in the upper chest -- which was surprising, because it's easy to see what she's doing. I'd expect her to go lower, which would be less noticeable. My only nitpick was that there wasn't enough showing of Eve's scarf for Bill to recognize it. So he must have recognized Villanelle, and used the scarf as an excuse to accost her. ?? 1 Link to comment

Wouldn't an agent know not to get caught in the crowded club where he can't control his environment? And shouldn't Eve have security about her now that they all know the killer knows her? What did the supervisor say, "but this is a department that doesn't exist." Fine, but then be more careful with Eve considering she has a target on her back. (And if the department does not exist, then either Villanelle's employers have someone in British Intelligence telling them about it anyway, or their knowing about it is a plot fail.) For those who did not see Bill's attack coming, please tell me you did see the suitcase being stolen, putting together the "you lost your last suitcase" and "Bill, watch my suitcase" lines. I agree, somewhat. I never watched Dexter beyond the first couple of episodes because it made me feel sick. I tuned in here for Sandra Oh and have been caught by the characters and the presentation. The hairpin in the eye was a lot; Bill's death may be too much. I'm still in for now. Side note: I watch Good Behavior with Michelle Dockery, where there is also a contract killer, and I love that show. They've done it in a way that is watchable yet makes very clear how bad it is... and you still root for the guy, himself, if not for his profession. There's only been one death, really, that was unwatchable. Others are "just" uncomfortable. Heh. Back on topic: I'm hoping for some sort of twist that changes the dynamic here. If it's ongoing pursuit, near misses, and people around Eve dying, continuing into another season, I'll be disappointed. The fact that they've already shifted the dynamic is encouraging. The performances are so good too. So, I'm still in for now. 4 Link to comment

ShannaB April 25, 2018 Share April 25, 2018 I read an article a month ago about new shows starting and I noticed Sandra Oh and KILLING EVE. I immediately set my DVR to record the series because I seem to have the memory of a gnat lately. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw 2 episodes taped (yep, I forgot ). Got to say that I am loving this series so far and I WILL NOT forget to watch on Sundays from now on. I am truly sorry about Bill because I enjoyed the dynamic between him and Eve. He was a good partner for her but the hunt had to become REAL real for Eve. It had to have consequences slammed into her on a personal level. I bet we see a very different Eve from now on - focused and deadly. Bubbly Eve is gone and the new Eve will be inching her way into a Carolyn type character who seems brilliant but weary from seeing too much with MI6. Just my musings. I am pleased that so many others like Sandra Oh. I watched her on GREY'S ANATOMY but the first time I saw her was in a series called ARLISS. Guess it was on HBO, same as DREAM ON. I was young and I blushed a lot because it was raunchy. Oh my young eyes!!!! :) Richard Whul played a conniving sports agent and Sandra Oh was his very out upon secretary. She was amazing! I do have to say that my parents thought ARLISS was a comedy and so they dismissed it as harmless for me to watch. If they only knew. I know Jodie Comer (Villanelle) from THE WHITE PRINCESS. I didn't particularly care for that short series but I am a sucker for British history. I have to say that I am impressed with Comer's acting in KILLING EVE. The way she focuses on her victims as they are dying is quite chilling. 4 Link to comment
