It is more than a respite. The education alone, does not go away ever. And also when  you can get the perspective and counseling for resources to help you recognize and overcome the challenges you have left behind. She has all of that now and gosh I hope she is pursuing it. But no, she wears it like a hat on RHONY that she "doesn't have parents' woe is me, poor girl, etc.

Bethenny  was largely estranged from her father. Yet, she still benefited even coasts apart then she runs her mouth to diss him and claim she did it alone. This is what drives me crazy. Doesn't have parents. HA Anytime her last name and heritage is known, I know that the starfuckers come out of the woodwork trying to get closer the game the connections, the money and the wins. I wonder if she even realizes it.  Robert Frankel was one of the most well respected and talented horse trainers that has ever walked the earth and this is undisputed. He went into the racing hall of fame the first year he was eligible,  he holds many records on wins, etc and he had  (long term) many of the wealthiest owners in the business including probably 20 30 years working for (among other rich rich rich people) Prince Khalid Bin Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms whose operation of almost 1000 horses is only a hobby.  Now remember, that her dad is a rock star in his industry- and with any industry with fame and top of the game are the clingers and groupies that follow. He's not a movie producer in Hollywood with followers,  this is LEGAL GAMBLING. Money.  In the horse business the entourage idolizes those at the top of the game and they are everywhere.  The money in racing is dependent on the whims of sensitive, delicate animals who undergo subjective conditioning, health and jockeying.  The trainer and his/her access of knowledge is priceless. Horses can't talk and racing forms can't tell you squat about a horse that is running after a night of thunderstorms who was up all night pacing, or a horse who is running without his earplugs in. Those on the backstretch can. So. Many. People. want to get closer to the trainers and Bethenny doesn't have a clue how many times her last name made people's ears perk up-especially in New York having a tremendously wealthy TB racing $$ program-- and suck up to her and help her on the chances of getting closer to that world- to get the lead on the next big horse, the pulse of the track. House of Cards with unpredictable flighty animals as the commodity.

She benefited a lot from her association to these "awful" people who never helped her as she did it "solo".   One of my biggest gripes with her is that she brags she did it on her own and she doesn't have parents, when I assure you her name alone got her more opportunity than she realized and will ever admit to.  Larry King interviewed her and you should see his face change when he found out she was Bobby Frankel's daughter!

Get yourself some great EMDR therapy Bethenny, give your parents credit for doing the best of their ability and teaching you to have tenacity and drive.  Embrace your fucked up childhood now adn shrug it off now that the victim years  on TV worked for you so well, or you'll lose all you've gained from that storyline you pitched us. The jig is up. She needs a good therapist to cut to the chase and explain to her that her dad is passed away. She can't prove anything to him anymore or earn his love by being the ball buster he was and top of your game, like he was at his. I am sure he was very proud of Bethenny when he went and  PS Bethenny you were enough for him all along. It was HIS stuff all along, not yours........................  To me her hustle is all to prove to her parents that she is lovable. Her dad's gone, and her Mom is still alive. As much as I run down Bethenny and I know that I do a lot, I feel that she and her mother can reconnect and coexist. If she can do that she can with Jason too and that benefits #1, Brynn.  She's gotta get out of her own way and see the forest thru the trees.

Imagine at the end of life what Bobby Frankel was looking at when it came to his daughter.  A woman who made $7,500.00 her first year on  a candid reality show where she used her father's connections around the race track and pretty much trashed them.  A second season where she was broke and looking for love and finally on his death bed an unmarried pregnant daughter on her third Jason.  The man did not even want to see her the first time she approached.  From all accounts Frankel was a fairly private man and treated people well.  Here is only offspring is announcing to the world she was raised by wolves.  Worse would be after his death and what she said about him, which was in direct contrast to the eulogy she gave.

I completely disagree, feelings and trauma can heal. You can't take am education away from anyone who has worked hard at it. It's yours.

Ok. So she didn't name drop or explain who he was, for MANY people she doesn't  have to. That's my point. All those rail birds sitting with her at the track on RHONY were not sitting with her because of her. It's because of him.  To horse racing people he is huge. His influence, ability and racing program was very grand.

"Can" being the operative word. Just because it does for some, that doesn't mean it holds true for all.

Ok, the people at the track...and? The horse racing people? I'm guessing maybe not much of a bonus in the food and beverage industry.

Agree with everything you've written, Mostly -- and I love Mae! -  a West primer for the NYC Housewives:

Sonja: "I've been in more laps than a napkin!"

Dorinda: "Marriage is a great institution...but I'm not ready for an institution."

Carole: "I never worry about diets. The only carrots that interest me are the number you get in a diamond."

Luann: "I've always had a weakness for foreign affairs."

Ramona: "She's the kind of girl who climbed the ladder of success wrong by wrong."

Bethenny: "I never loved another person the way I loved myself."

I give your a post a 99.

Just in case you happen to write something that is FUNNIER?

How is no one mentioning Bethenny's extreme master thespianism when she was tearlessly crying because she was so concerned that Lu was doing the wrong  marrying Tom?  It was right up there with the shaking hand holding the glass of Skinny Girl margarita!

The fuck you say!

The BEST lulu performance was on the KTLA morning show.

The absolute best were the cuts to the morons dancing to the tune and the way they ran the credits over her, as they ended the show.

Pure comedy gold.

Thank God she gave up the ghost.  At least I hope there's no more singing in Mrs. D'Agostino's future.

Um, Horse racing people are connected in MANY areas.

Check out a Daily Racing Form and google some of the names of the owners?

Many aren't household names, but they are giants in their areas of work....

I live in a "triple crown" city and when THE RACE comes to town, the paper devotes a section to all the balls/parties in town - guy ferry and booby flay are two of the well known horse owners/chefs.

I am sure beffy would LOVE to get into one of their eateries as the Official Swill?

Doesn't anyone network anymore?

If you have ever been to the track and talked to the rank and file people you would know about Bobby Frankel. My uncle and some of the other horseplayer's from the neighborhood knew him in the sixties before he moved out to Cali. It;s a small world.

The world of horse racing has changed enormously since I was a kid. It used to be what the working man followed to gamble.. The longshoreman or the factory worker would put down his two dollar bet with the local bookie. Then OTB came along and screwed everything up. The local bookie went away and the government controlled everything. Still there were a bunch of mooks who would go to the track every weekend. I would go with my uncle all the time to Aqueduct or Belmont.

None of those guys could believe that this witch on TV was Bobby Frankel's daughter.  They are mostly gone now. The institutional memory is lost so only the slanders of Bethenny remain to besmirch his memory.

It helps everywhere -- being one the greatest trainers ever of elite racehorses means you move in and out of a very tony crowd (and you don't get a lengthy obit in the New York Times, as he did, without being a person of some significance).

And when she first appeared on the tv scene, she was referred to as his daughter:

"A contestant on "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart" had a relationship with the son of one of the show's judges, the New York Post reports. Bethenny Frankel, one of 16 competing for a $250,000 job on the NBC reality TV show, dated Brian Koppelman, the newspaper reported Sunday. His father, Charles Koppelman, is chairman of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and will -- along with Stewart's daughter, Alexis -- help decide who gets fired and who keeps going each week, the Post said. (snip for space)

Frankel is the daughter of world-renowned horse trainer Bobby Frankel, the Post said."

I haven't seen anybody say it doesn't count. What I have seen people say is that Bethenny seems to dismiss the value of having had a safety net, one abused kids living in poverty don't have.

And (to bring it back to this episode) she's running from something that will overtake her, in the end; she's been devolving since she came back (and I say that as someone who defended her during her initial return to the show). These last two weeks alone have been like a b & w fifties "social issue" movie (Three Faces of Bethenny in The Snakepit)  crossed with a Frontline investigation into seventies group therapy gone wrong. First she forced some kind of bastard child of an intervention on Luann (for Luann's own good, yet) and then (when Luann didn't crack or break) Bethenny made her grande dame exit, purse in hand like Queen Elizabeth wandering the halls of Windsor ("Diana, did M15 really murder you?") Then she took to her fainting couch, sobbing and spewing "Me! Me! MEEEEEE!" attention-grabbing shit when Luann turned up, all resulting in an MGM-worthy climax of Bethenny diving in for a hug, while proclaiming herself beyond all hope of healing. (Not that Bethenny's devastated sense of self kept her from mocking Luann - and Luann's embrace -- to her own personal Renfield, Carole, a sidekick always happy to uncurl her tongue and snap Bethenny's bullshit right out of the air). For years,  Bethenny Frankel has lived in a world where nobody else's pain counts; maybe it's time the rest of the world started challenging that narcissistic fantasy.

So, you know -- that's what people have been saying, imo ; )

I disagree. Owning your past - while also seeing how financial resources gave you tools others like you didn't have - doesn't need to be done in a competitive spirit. The opposite is just as possible.

Aww, for a second I was super excited about that upcoming Frontline.

"You had sex on a waterbed," read the review of the waterbed sex scene:   http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0369540/ref_=nm_flmg_act_3

 From the review:

"The sex scene on the water bed made me sea sick just watching it, I thought the guy playing Mike was going to either puke or at least suffocate!!"

Classic Ramona that the worst part of the soft porn scene was apparently the waterbed -- the tackiness of it offending her refined sensibilities; as if she carries around in her head images of a Bob Guccione 70s porn layout,  busty blondes with long hair, their eyes bugging out...hey, wait a minute.

Wasn't there an episode of Seinfeld about a guy who was a "close talker"? Maybe Ramona is like that guy...

But so what? You're not diminishing what that person is feeling, you are basically using socio-economic status to just discount what they are allowed to feel.  It has nothing to do with perspective. And given how nasty her divorce has been and seem to be ongoing, it isn't like she can just sweep things under the rug, put on a happy face, and wish the bad away.

Nope. I'm not 'discounting' it and I used the word 'diminish' for a reason.  It has everything to do with perspective.  You have a choice in life.  You can hang on to the crap or you can look at the good.  If you're ever going to get over the crap, you have to give 'credence' to the good.  That's not discounting what has or what is going on in your life.  It's about weighing your life as a 'whole'.

It's not about putting on a happy face or 'wishing' the bad away with Beth.  With Beth, it's about 'winning'.  The only thing that would 'cost' Beth is money.  Yeah, she doesn't have full custody but that's what it is.  Two parents.  That's just reality.

Diminish and discount are two different words with two different meanings. The choice is theirs.  And that choice will in the end effect their own outcome.  And ability to move on with their lives.

Me too! I read one of her advice books from the 30's and she was very intelligent and insightful. One thing really stuck with me: She said that just like today the fashions start in Paris, but after WWI all of the women were very thin and emaciated from the war and that's how the trend for skinny models began. She made a point of stressing that one should never compare oneself to models because that is their job so don't stress about not looking that way, just be your best.

Also, by reading that book it was astounding how far the clothing sizes have changed for vanity. She was listed by a costumer as having a "perfect 36" figure (whatever that is-hips I think) and being a size...18!!!!

One of my favorite Mae West lines-Girl: Can you give me advice on catching a husband? Mae: leave the husbands alone, there are plenty of single men out there. (She never ran around with married men, and bought her apartment building when they complained about her AA boyfriend coming to see her there in the 30's or 40's).

Yes, she is "quick" but I don't think she is all that smart, she reverts to old insults time and time again. And just because some of the HWs, Luann, think before they spew hatred at another doesn't make them slow or less intelligent than Bethenny, in fact thinking before you speak is normally a sign of intelligence. LOL Oh, and Bethenny never learns from those times she messes up because she repeats the same ugly behaviors time and time again.

You would think someone who is "quick" be able to read a room?

One admirable thing in a woman is her ability to recover or face a situation she comes across.

It also works when in reverse.

It's not always the wisest or classiest to just blurt out what ever the fuck rests on your tongue, as a matter of fact?

It's kinda annoying.

A woman can have money, looks, a good work ethic and health, but if her personality sucks?

It's all on her.

There is nothing more UNATTRACTIVE than a pretty woman with a fucking ugly soul.

No amount of makeup, hair cutting or wardrobe changes gonna save THAT bitch.

I've watched this show since its inception, and I know this is rhetorical, but really, what is wrong with Ramona? She has that junior high school fight with Bethenny, and then she trashes Dorinda's house? Seriously, HOW did she make it through 60+ years without getting hands laid on her one good time? How'd she run a business? I mean, I know that it isn't impossible to be mediocre and skate through life, but good lord. Dorinda should've sent Ramona an invoice for the damages. Then again, this is the same woman whose dog shit on the rug and she didn't even bother cleaning it up. I understand why Mario bounced. I'm not saying he had to cheat on her, but I understand.

I did not miss Jill's nasally-ass self.

And what's with Bethenny insulting her employee? "I don't know how far you went in school." Listen, I can deal with sarcasm in jest if I'm around a good friend, and maybe Megan? didn't take it that way and I'm getting upset on her behalf, but that was so damn rude. She should've been like, "bitch, do I look like a lepidopterist?" But she remembered that her rent, student loans, and bills are due, so she thought about the 1st and the 15th and let Bethenny's rudeness slide.

This.  I was cringing for that poor girl.  I think she might appreciate quick wittedness so Imma need for one of these children to sharp shoot her ass every now and then.  I would've loved a well placed:  Not far, I had to drop out in my junior year to become skilled in the haberdashery arts.  I could tell you exactly what kind of insect this was if it were lodged in a Panama Hat.

Bethenny might be a user, but she didn't get those opportunities on her back or her knees. If she really fucked her way to success, she wouldn't have married Jason. She would have gotten Dennis to actually leave his wife. She would have closed the deal with Marcus Lemonis and Eric Stonestreet. Ramona making that claim is ridiculous because Bethenny's most important and memorable romantic relationship is with the brokest guy she's fucked--Jason Hoppy. If she fucked her way to success, Bethenny's acting career would have yielded more than the crappy film that Ramona continues to bring up. If Bethenny fucked her way to success, Bethenny Bakes wouldn't be footnote in the Bethenny Frankel biography. If fucking your way into money and success really bothered Ramona, she wouldn't be friends with Sonja. If she really valued building a business on your own, she wouldn't have been so nasty to Heather or Cindy.

As to Bethenny being a user when it comes to her business, yeah she probably was. She did mine connections from her crappy parents and stepfather. So fucking what? It's not like those connections were really instrumental in the success she has now. Ramona drunk and on a mad day year would try to make it seem seedy and disreputable when someone uses their connections and advantages to obtain success. For years, Ramona used her privilege on this show to advertise Ramona Pinot Grigio. LuAnn used the connections with NBC Universal to launch her Evine products. You know who hasn't really used their connections and advantages well? Sonja fucking Morgan, which is why she's broke and bitter. Ramona can step if she's going to try to make a compelling case for working harder not smarter. That's a perfect motto for a real housewife. Drunk depressed delusional dumbass.

Sunday service has concluded.

Sonja fucking Morgan.  Literally.   I'm dying.  This is how she married a billionaire ole coot and she can't use that same pussy lasso to wrangle a new house at least?  So, what, octogenarians aren't shopping 49 year olds anymore?  Ya'll remember catdaddy with the Bob Barker hair and matching gleaming teeth?  Girl isn't even trying.

He's friends with Candace Bushnell, who names him as inspiration for her style in her Sex and the City column. And when he was dating Lu, he had been named one NYC hottest bachelors by Gotham Magazine.

Sonja didn't want Connor to answer the door and accept a package for Tinsley because she was being a selfish bitch and nothing more. Sonja is jealous of Tinsley, IMO, because Tinsley comes from money and still has her own money even after her divorce, she is younger, pretty and so far she gets along with all the other HWs. Pretty much, she is everything Sonja wishes she was and is a daily reminder that she will never achieve any of it.

Using old bottles of Wesson oil to slick up Sonja when she wants to get into her old party pants from when she was partying with John John and Madonna? Towel drying her dildos? Screening Sonja's doorbell for ConEd, Duane Reade, and anyone she's weirdly hiding from?

It's not like Tinsley was getting dozens of packages a day. The weirder and bitchier she gets, the more you realize that Sonja's a sketchy shady mean loon.

Oh, mother, I'm so slow.  Of *course* Sonja jammed herself into the jammies -- it was a payback at Dorinda for Dorinda's tirade against her (the "Holland Tunnel EZPass" rant).

Like an animal peeing on its territory, or like a guy urinating on an enemy's grave.

Can't believe I didn't pick up on it til now!

Had D reacted angrily, S would've had TH points for a year:

"I keep ALL my things in zippered bags, that really doesn't signify anything"

and

"Couldn't she just have offered me a different pair? Didn't her mother bring her up better?"

and

"I surely couldn't have come downstairs naked"

and

"I'm surprised she let me sleep IN a bed! What, will she have an air mattress next time?"

and

"Well, of course:  I looked SO much better in them than she ever had!"

and

"Obviously, gracious hospitality differs from one person to the next"

and

"In Europe, it's a sign of honor to wear someone else's lingerie" (overpronouncing the word for effect, LAWWWN-zheh-reh"!)

She'd cast herself as the victim and be GLAD, glad I tell you, that she hadn't gotten an invite the year before!

I'm a bit frightened, you channelled Sonja so well.

Thanks for verifying Sonja is the idiot and not me.  Haha!  It's the fucking door!  It takes 12 seconds to answer the door!  Wtf?

She actually said she was afraid if Connor answered the door for Tinsely, he'd forget what he was supposed to be doing for Sonja. If that's the case, he probably shouldn't be ANYONE'S assistant. Or at least get him some ginko biloba.
