MMLEsq April 22, 2014 Share April 22, 2014 This is Shannon's bio from the Bravo website: Born and raised in Southern California, Shannon Beador joins the cast this season bringing her unflinching honesty and unconventional ways. She adheres to a holistic lifestyle, keeping her house a toxic free zone with a hospital grade air filtration system and no wi-fi. Her three daughters, 12-year-old Sophie and 9-year-old twins, Stella and Adeline have never eaten cheddar cheese because of the orange dyes. Shannon spends her free time with her energy specialist and a Feng Shui advisor trying to rid herself of any built up anger and resentment. Her 13-year marriage has recently hit a rough patch as she and her husband David struggle to find balance between work, the kids and each other. This is a woman with WAY too much free time. I wonder if she's ever thought of volunteering. Oh, and Shannon, news flash: you can get Chedddar cheese without any artificial coloring. 4 Link to comment
Birdee April 23, 2014 Share April 23, 2014 Ha! I love when celebrities/wannabes do stuff like that. "Oh my kids would NEVER eat cheddar cheese. The dyes! The horror!" A quick look around the cheese section at your local grocery store will show you white cheddar. It's not hard to find. Even the store in the podunk little town I live in manages to have several kinds of cheddar... 3 Link to comment
PatsyStone April 24, 2014 Share April 24, 2014 She adheres to a holistic lifestyle, keeping her house a toxic free zone with a hospital grade air filtration system and no wi-fi. Oh totally. If by holistic, we really mean, let's inject our face with toxins not even approved by the FDA and dye our hair with enough peroxide to kill a small horse. And by toxic free, we really mean, let's only eat Taco Bell supremes - without the sour cream - two times a week. And by hospital grade air filtration system, we really mean, I just got a face lift, a nose job and half of my face sandpapered off by a Stihl power saw and I need to live in a hermetically sealed cocoon in order for my skin to heal. And by no wi-fi, we really mean, BITCH IS CRAZY. Ohhhhhhhhh. Kay. 7 Link to comment
technorebel May 20, 2014 Share May 20, 2014 (edited) I thought cheddar was orange, too. Oh, well, I'm eating it anyway. How do you live these days without WiFi? They must have no laptops or smart phones. This chick is a flake. I'm thinking she's the reason their marriage is strained. Because a little of that is charming eccentricity, but years of it must be a trial. Edited May 20, 2014 by technorebel 5 Link to comment
Birdee May 20, 2014 Share May 20, 2014 (edited) I never thought I'd need the information from my dairy science classes but here it goes... The best that I remember cheddar is naturally pale yellow or creamy white color. Some of the color is/was derived from the fattiness of the raw milk. At some point people equated color in the cheese to a mark of quality since color=fat. That mutated into using dyes to color the cheese. Some are natural extracts ( I want to say paprika?) some aren't so natural. Anyhoo, we're used to colored cheddar cheese, but that's not the color of anything that leaves the moo'ers. Still tasty though. So yeah, that's the extent of my dairy nerdiness. Edited May 20, 2014 by Birdee 5 Link to comment

Giselle May 30, 2014 Share May 30, 2014 I kind of like Shannon. She's a bit of a kook and even with her wealth she is more real than Heather could ever be (if Heather ever wanted to be...she is so fake and tries too hard.) Shannon appears to harp on her husband too much but in turn he also seems to knowingly press her buttons. Don't know too much about Lizzy to have an opinion. She's seems feisty. Link to comment
KFC May 31, 2014 Share May 31, 2014 But with the new people coming on this season and Alexis and the other blonde woman gone I am giving this franchise a shot. I have to catch up, hopeless power watcher of shows here, but I kind of like Shannon's strangeness and her irksomeness. Thus far, I think it's been a pretty successful recast with the two new OC housewives. Shannon's pretty self-aware about her quirkiness, and I find her less smug than, say, other first-seasoners like Lydia (although I would have been curious to watch Lydia interact with everyone this season). And Lizzie knows how to defend herself better than Alexis or Gretchen ever did, so it's kinda fun watching her go toe-to-toe with Vicki (and later on, it appears, with Tamra). The stakes have always seemed lower on RHOC than the other franchises; there's less wealth and the fourth wall/social media aspect isn't as much of a factor the way it is on RHOBH, so watching the OC wives interactions might be less glamorous but it also feels less... dark? They are a gazillion times more interesting to watch than Gretchen and Slimey. 2 Link to comment

I don't like her and it pisses me off that she is making me like Heather. Can I get an amen? Don't make me defend Heather! Yeah. I pretty much hate Sharron at this point, but personal feelings aside...she's the one with he problem. My suspicion is that she's an all day, every day drinker. All her talk about David's drinking is slight of hand. In this I feel for Sharoon. In all honesty, I rarely give even 1 lonely little fuck how much someone drinks as long as they're not engaging in drunk driving or other shenanagins. Being the appropriate indulgence police has never been my bag. Shannon just seems so angry and unhappy though, and completely unable to express it in any reasonable way so whenever she spends a great deal of time complaining about someone's behavior I just assume it's about her. David having a shot at the hoe-down = Shannon feeling bad about starting her day with a Bloody Mary. 2 Link to comment

That's pretty big business and all government contracts. He's have to be well established to get them. My impression is that David and Sharron are like some modern day version of an Edith Wharton story. She had a good name and connections, but her money was drying up. He was making money hand over fist, but still couldn't get into the right country club. Didn't work out well in Edith Wharton's books either. 5 Link to comment
Lablover27 June 26, 2014 Share June 26, 2014 (edited) Dear Shannon, Here's your 3 step program to save your marriage: First, shut up and take one of those day after drinking pills, double it.. Second, put out the chips and salsa and a double margarita with a side shot for whatshisname. Third, put some lacy shit on, go knock boots, and go back to the computer with your vodka. Works for me! Works for him! We are both happy and go back to doing our thing. Dudes like to eat, get it on ~ or get it on then eat but definitely ~ then sleep. An afternoon delight wouldn't be such a bad idea. Your house sure is big enough! I doubt you have to worry about headboard noise. You are welcome. Edited June 26, 2014 by Lablover27 7 Link to comment
FairyDusted June 28, 2014 Share June 28, 2014 A big YES to LabLover27! Very spot on. Shannon appears to drink vodka like it is still water! My hubby has worked in the construction business all of life. And mine. He's a suit but goes out of town frequently and he is out of the house by 6:30 and is lucky to get home 12 hours later. His cell goes off in the middle of the night and his ass is on an accident site. The man is tired! I am lucky to have him awake and home 2 hours on every day. He doesn't need me bitching at him. I don't want to spend the little time I have bitching at him. My favorite time of the day is sitting on the porch while he enjoys a cigar and I enjoy a fatty. He also goes to bed by 8:30. After a nap in his lazy boy;) I go in with him. Rub his back and he is snoring in 3 minutes flat. He does this every day to support our family. 4 Link to comment
maggiemae June 29, 2014 Share June 29, 2014 I just don't get it - I thought Shannon in her own right is worth a ton (like $20M) although her husband is very successful as well. Why is she allowing her unhappiness? Can't be the kids since she is so awful being critical of his every move - in front of them. IOW - not like she is dependent on him, rather than she likes the drama and the sympathy she seems to think she deserves. 1 Link to comment

She comes from old money by SoCal standards, but sometime coming from old money means there isn't much left. I speak from experience. I'd buy that she's worth a ton in her own right. On the other hand, I wouldn't be shocked to find out that she doesn't have much personal wealth either. From what I've seen it could go either way. I will guess that judging by her expectations of how much attention she should be getting from her husband that neither of her parents ever worked. All that aside, I think you've hit on what annoys me about her. She seems to court and create misery and stress and then expects everyone to feel bad for her. She just seems like a bored, angry, spoiled rich kid. It's hard to take her seriously when she's bitching about the right number of lemons. 2 Link to comment

Lola16 July 2, 2014 Share July 2, 2014 I'm really not trying to say Shannon brought it on herself, but the report I read said he was found not guilty and all charges were dismissed. I know that happens even when people are guilty, but it doesn't prove guilt either. I'm just saying that I don't know what the story is between them but I can imagine several different scenarios. I wish I was better at accessing TWOP in the wayback machine. I can only do it if I know what page # stuff was on and yea, I don't have a Sheldon Cooper like memory. Someone (maybe Diane Chambers?) posted a link to the court case involving David & Shannon. David wasn't found not guilty. He did take a plea. He was on probation. He did go for counseling. He did community service. I think it was a term of 3 years that he had to stay out of trouble (just like Chris Brown) and the charges would be dismissed. We can all imagine a lot of things, none of us were there. However, the above doesn't sound like it would be a result of a minor or verbal dispute. Link to comment

lunastartron July 3, 2014 Share July 3, 2014 Just to clarify, David was never found not guilty on the battery charges. All articles (which began cropping up on sites like Wetpaint and Radar way back in November) I've read on the incident note that he was compelled to admit in open court that he "unlawfully and willfully used violence" against his wife. This was likely part of a plea deal, as the specific charge to which he pled was misdemeanor assault (ie, obviously preferable to a felony), and part of said pleas are public admissions of guilt. And to be clear on another point, Shannon herself has publicly stuck to the script that the altercation didn't involve physical aggression. Which means deductively that the DA had compelling enough evidence that some relatively serious transgressions of the law occurred, since uncooperative victims in domestic violence cases typically jettison any prosecution. 1 Link to comment

I would love to know the whole story behind that. What happened? Why did they stay together? Did something change in David after that (he seems so even tempered which I know doesn't mean anything, but did he get therapy or something)? Does this have anything to do with the email communication thing? Do they have a history of simple disagreements escalating? It's just so strange that Shannon seems like the tightly wound bundle of rage while David seems oblivious or worn out but it seems that may not be the truth. Such a little puzzle. Link to comment

Sampson July 15, 2014 Share July 15, 2014 Shannon is bat shit crazy. If the fact that she thinks she saved a nation in another life wasn’t enough to prove it (it was!) she has gone on in multiple ways of proving it. The weird way she has of tilting her head and bugging out her eyes during talking heads makes her look like she’s listening to the voices in her head before she repeats them. Her revisions of history may be how she’s actually viewed them, another sign that she’s unbalanced. She goes to a “doctor” several times a week to have him drag crystals? over her and she makes her children do this as well? Sounds like a bit like child abuse to me. Her mantra of “I feel so misunderstood” is so funny because the person that understands her the least is herself. You’re in real trouble when Vicki is the one that understands and relates to you. When Vicki eventually turns on her, we’re going to see Shannon’s head actually explode. 2 Link to comment

I guess she's been able to set up her life in a way in which people just placate her to avoid her hysteria. God for her, but I don't find it sympathetic and I don't think she's misunderstood so much as she freaks out whenever she's called on her BS. I mean has she gotten through a dinner without leaving the table in tears while sobbing hysterically that she's not someone who leaves the table in hysterical tears? I imagine this is how she has gotten her way her whole life. "I'm not someone who normally cries over my grades, Mr Professor *sob*" 2 Link to comment

Yeah, she's very emotionally raw and in a bad place with her marriage. However, she doesn't give me borderline insanity vibes that some other Housewives have like Danielle Staub or Taylor Armstrong. I agree with you that Shannon is not being taken advantage of by the show. I don't see the nice person who didn't realize how the show worked. I think Shannon is an extremely spoiled person who has used her temper tantrums to get her way her whole life and that's what she's doing here. When a conversation or a sceen isn't going her way she has a temper tantrum . She's done it multiple times on the show. As for why she wanted to do the show; 1. I think Shannon is a fundamentally bored person. I also think she's pretty lazy and that's why she's bored. Her kids are getting bigger and from what we've witnessed she doesn't do anything all day. It doesn't seem like she's involved in her kids school, or a charity, or a church. She doesn't seem to have any real hobbies. She doesn't really take care of the house since they have full time help. I think she's bored and the show seemed like a way to give herself a sense of importance. 2. And I think this was her main motivation. She did it to prove what a bad husband David is. I think she thought that at the end of it all she was have this video record of how right she is about everything and David would be forced to admit he's wrong. It's not really working out for her, but I think that's what she expected. 6 Link to comment
