Aw...I like having  the ep descriptions!  I guess we shouldn't be surprised there is none, I was hoping maybe just a vague one!  I supposed they think they've dragged this mystery out this far, why not keep it going to the bitter end!

This season better be damn good!

No description provided because for some reason everything about this stupid season has to be a giant goddamn secret.

Dolls. Gaga. Children of the corn. Crop circles. MNight Shamalamadingdong.

ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

I'm not entirely convinced Ryan Murphy even knows what the hell this is. In my house we're calling it AHS: Clusterfuck until they give us a reason to think otherwise. (And I actually like AHS! It's just that the weak spots are becoming more evident each season.)

I know what it is, I got it!  It's a season full of past clips! Season of the clips! Now that's horrific!

AHS is actually one of my favorite shows.  I'll follow it no matter what.   I think.

As a decent viewer of American Horror Story, I can understand why this season is kept under wraps. Perhaps we, as a human race, can already predict the plot (or I guess clusterf**k) of the season, which will consist of a hot mess Ryan Murphy has in his scripts and characters. I'm no business major, but the teasers is just a way to build hype for new watchers intrigued by the mystery. I just think AHS viewers get overly spoiled and speculative with the teasers, but like reality, there are moments in which we must face the inevitable and unknown. And sure, TWD has pulled that strategy for their promotions, but with AHS' following, who are already familiar with the show and its teasers, this builds up the anticipation. And it fits too with their mystery subgenre.

To those watching AHS tonight, watch the show with very, VERY low expectations. We know we've been duped, and many have speculated what the season will be about, but the only way to discover the truth, for better or worse, is to watch the premiere.

I have a fire stick and I took one for the team and checked to see if the episode was available. It did look like I could watch S6E1, but alas, it was just a 12 second promo.

The one with the creepy house and the smoke that makes a 6.

My cable has this episode called The Mist. Does anyone else have that?

Well, I don't understand why they have 2 actors per character, for a start.  We are 35 minutes in and it is boring as hell.  This better get WAY better real quick.

To make it look like a real documentary. In shows like Paranormal Witness you have the real people telling the story and the reenactors reenacting the story.

I never saw Paranormal Witness.  And all the actors so far are famous people, not real unknowns as I imagine they had in that show.

My friend texted me the same question and I also added that they were also just trying kind of storytelling.

It's different, that's for sure. I'll give it a chance, but my first thought when I realized it was a reenactment was, oh man, that's kind of a waste of Lily Rabe's talent.  And also we know she lives....  unless they continue Shelby and Matt's story after the reenactment filming is over.

Paranormal Witness, and A Haunting, tells real stories. This is NOT a real story. It is fiction, pretending to be a real docuseries. Hence the double actors. Not any different than famous people starring in found footage films-movies pretending to be real documentaries.

"Those zz top wannabes" ??
The irony in my life is my mom is going on vacation to Roanoke soon.
I like the quirk that the people in the testimonials / talking heads are played by diff/less attractive actors than in the 'tv dramatization'.
I watched this in a theater and the sound effects of wind and booms and whooshes constantly were distracting.

In the first hillbilly scene, did anyone say, holy shit is that's Chaz Bono?! Was he in the end credits? I wasn't looking.

I also saw

Evan Peters and Denis O'Hare

in the creds, but didn't notice them in the ep, were they there?

I must be the only one who actually likes this show and who isn't hate watching it.  This is one of my favorite shows on television.  I don't understand all the hate.  I think the show is genuinely awesome.

The episode itself was fun.  It took me a little while to get into it and the dual actors were a little confusing but once I got use to it I enjoyed it.  I thought it was kinda funny that the the actress who played Marcia Clark and the Actor who played OJ on the People vs OJ played a married couple,

I like haunted house stories and this one worked.  I like all the parts so far.  All the characters are meshing for me.  I think I am going to enjoy this season,

I love this show too. I admit it.

I kind of feel like this season is called "AHS6: A Response To Y'all Telling Ryan Murphy He Loses The Plot In Episode 5 Every Season."

Not much of Denis this episode and don't know if Evan was around or not. They were the better actors and characters in S5 so I will wait to see what they bring to the table.

I thought Cuba was the weak link in American Crime Story so I am not thrilled yet he is on this season.

I don't know what to make of this yet. I will give a few episodes or at least wait till Evan or Denis show.

Thrilled to see Lily Rabe though.

Psyched to see Angela Basset !!

This, so far, is right up my alley. I found it creepy and spooky as hell. Very Blair witch. @luna1122 agree! I get creeped out by things that could actually happen - lost in the woods , creepy hillbillies terrorizing you

It was a a creepy start but it usually is. I don't hate watch this or anything, but I feel let down most seasons when the story becomes so jumbled it makes no sense. Hotel was way too much torture porn for me. I love scary things that don't rely on gore for the scare. So this is supposed to be about Roanoke? But it is set in North Carolina. It seems like a combo of The Blair Witch Project, those haunting shows on TV and The Amityville Horror. Which would be OK if he doesn't add in ten million other things like space ships, voodoo, talking dolls, etc.

I was surprised to see Cuba Gooding Jr in the cast. I do have to give it credit for scaring me a bit and I'm not easily scared. I'm all alone in the house because my husband is working a double shift tonight and my son is away at college. I must say I will never, ever, stay alone in a house in the middle of deserted woods. It would be creepy under any circumstances. And how is that huge house a three bedroom house? It looks like 6 or 7 bedrooms at least.

Oh, AMS. Just when I think I`m out, you pull me back in. I love this show, God help me.

This show just pushed all my good buttons, with the creepy woods, stick figures, and the Roanoke mystery, which is one of my favorite historical mysteries. I am really into this already. I think it was a smart idea to pull out a historical mystery, as AMS is at its best when it deals with real bits of Americana, and mysteries and horror that is unique to the American mythology. Now, what do I have to do to get a Jersey Devil season?

Has there ever, in the entire history of ever, been no one there when someone asks "whos there"?

So it's about Roanoke in some sort of way....the creepy stick figures were uber creepy.

points for Shelby actually leaving the house. Negative a TRILLION points for following a shady lady into the woods

Yes, I loved when she said we have to leave this house now, but then running into the creepy woods, oh hell no. Bad, bad move.

I don't know or remember anything about this  Roanoke story, Should I not look it up and be surprised how it plays out on AHS?

I kind of love seeing these actors we all know pop into this story.  At first I thought the woman Shelby hit would turn out to be some kind of gypsy woman who'd then put a curse on her...then when I got a better look I smiled and said, hey...it's Kathy Bates! Check off that actor!

I'm having a hard time reconciling OJ and Marcia Clark being married, myself.

Ha, I really didn't even think about that until you said that Mya Stone.

At first I was thinking, I'd want a dog with me if I was alone a lot of the time in this house,  but then again....I'd fear for the dog around the crazy hillbillies.

THANK YOU! That was bugging the hell out of me. "Roanoke Haunting" in...North Carolina? Roanoke is in Virginia. That was weird.

When I saw the interior clips of the house right before the show started I thought it was going to be set in Shaker Village. I am a HUGE fan of the Shakers-even written a book about them. The pegs on the wall are a dead giveaway, as are the streamlined architectural features. I was disappointed to see that it was just a house, though fascinating house it was. I wonder if some of those scenes were actually shot at one of the Shakertowns in Kentucky or New York.

I watch way too much Investigation Discovery, so I understood the format right away. But André Holland is more attractive (and younger) than Cuba Gooding Jr.—the opposite of what usually happens on true crime TV reenactments.

Yes, the season 6 premiere was way less rapey than season 5.

Pretty sure Kathy Bates was who Shelby hit and Wes Bentley was in the woods.

I thought it was also KB who held her under water, too. I paused it and thought it looked like her. Then, when she hit her later, it was definitely her. Always good to see Kathy.

Huh.  So far, so good!  I actually enjoyed this and was genuinely scared during the Blair witch and video scenes.  I'm pessimistically hopeful for this season! While I don't exactly hate watch this show, there's been some heavy eye rolling action during past seasons.

I'm excited to see Lily Rabe back, and Sarah Poulson is always phenomenal.  I look forward to see what Evan Peters and Dennis O'Hare will be doing.  I'm sort of meh on Kathy Bates and Gaga...

Going to give this 3 episodes and see what happens. If this is RM's challenge back to us then I'm here to see what he has planned, but I won't be holding my breath.

This was a solid start for me though. It has the creepy aspects and I like that he's trying a new technique.
