Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events

Maybe he didn't get online until they moved to the TTH.  I think he was around 16 then.  And he had that little nook to work on his "video business" with "no rug rats allowed".

What baffles me is that he supposedly frequented strip clubs in NW Arkansas.  I'm surprised no one recognized him and went public with that info.  I was under the impression that the Duggars were fairly well-known in their part of the state.  But then again strip club patrons probably were not fans of the show.

They also have their Internet and smartphones password protected, which makes me wonder when they started doing that. Sometime before 2009, from what I can find online. The kids also need to have a buddy sitting next to them when they are on the internet to make sure they're not looking at anything inappropriate. Only Michelle and the older girls (are supposed to) know what the password is.

Josh got married in 2008, so he has had open access since then.  Maybe he is the reason for the password and phone protection rules?  Or maybe he did his porn surfing on the computer at Duggar Motors.  I think he started working at the car lot before he got married.

Or maybe the porn was a vice he picked up after he got married?

All the timelines are just so confusing.

Josh could've had old fashion "porn" like Playboy.

I think Anna trusted josh 110% and it never crossed her mind to wonder what he was doing late at night alone.

I think Anna really is that naive.  It is unreal to the rest of us, but Anna was incredibly sheltered growing up.  I am assuming she believe two things wholeheartedly: 1. that Josh had completely repented from his past "sins" and that he was now a good and Godly man and that 2: watching porn is something that only sinful people do, and since Josh is no longer sinful, there is no way he is looking at porn.

Finally, Anna also completely believed that if she was a good wife then her husband would not stray, and of course she was a good wife.

I don't get why Anna is not back in FL. Most people would want to be home with their Mom when things fall apart. I think there are only 2 of Anna's siblings living there. Even though the Keller home is small, you'd think she would want to be with her parents.

They were at Gil Bates' mall church the Sunday before Joshgate II broke. There are pictures of the Duggars standing in front of the congregation with Joshie holding Marcus all over the internet.

So that explains how they met up with the young blogger who described the service. She was at the wedding, too, according to her Twitter. I was thinking she must have been from Arkansas, but of course there were people at the wedding from all over.

She posted excitedly on her Twitter about meeting Michelle. "Ran into Michelle Duggar yesterday (and today.) So great to meet her!" But looking at the picture, all I can think is, Oh, honey, can you not see that this woman is nuts? .... Her family must not be as far into the soup as the Duggars, since she attends a Christian college in Indiana, Huntington University, a United Brethren in Christ school that appears to be pretty creditable, as these things go. People, don't send your daughter to college and simultaneously encourage her to worship the education-loathing Duggars. Geez.

Just read the entire RU application.  There is no way that Jesus would have been accepted.  There is no way Jesus would conform to their brainwashing labor camp. They claim to follow Christ, but they are very anti-Christ.

As bad as it sounds, I don't think the Keller's want her (except for her brother). They fully believe Anna belongs to Josh no matter what and therefore belongs to JB while Josh is unavailable. Since in their minds Anna isn't weighing her options or deciding what to do she doesn't need Mom. After all they don't believe she has a right to leave him. Josh is just on vacation.

Yeah, that sounds bad all right. One of the most depressing things I've read in a while. Unfortunately, it also sounds plausible. What kind of hell must she be living in right now? And how is that translating to those four innocent little kids, those little sponges soaking up whatever emotions are around them? What an environment.

I had a family medical issue for 2 days, come back and there's a dozen more pages!  Holy smokes.  So perhaps this has already been stated, but I just read the People article and in a sidebar it stated that in Anna's family each child was given one 15 minute session with their mother each week to discuss feelings and issues.  Well, right away - THAT'S SICK!  But it could explain why Anna ISN'T going to her parents for support.

JB is so controlling.  I have to wonder how well he knows how to use and gain satisfaction from a computer if you know what I mean.

Considering the inordinate amount of time he spends yammering against it, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to learn, at some point, that Boob has been a regular viewer of porn himself. It's always been this way. The more someone decries an evil, the greater the likelihood he himself is an active participant. Did Josh just chalk one up in that column himself?

Well said.  Me thinks JB protests too much as the saying goes.

I agree that's sick.  However, I strongly suspect it's more time than any of the Duggar's had alone with their mother each week.

Some of RU's rules for fools among many.  No talking about the sins that people have.  No questioning or arguing with authority.  No conversation with the opposite sex.  No complaining.  No facial hair.  No outside influences. Extremely limited and monitored phone calls of no more than 10 minutes.

Jesus would not last a day there before they kicked him out.  I bring that up because they claim to follow Jesus. He would not have even been allowed entrance,

Also - the idea of salvation through labor.  Where have I had that disturbing philosophy before?  It's frightening, distorted and sick.

Next - there are no accredited counselors there with the knowledge or experience to help these people.  The people there are not allowed to talk about their particular problem with anyone.  They simply work most of the day.  For RU without pay.   Their every minute is scrutinized and they are forbidden to 'cause discord' by complaining in any way.  If they go against any rule they are given an extra month or more before they can complete the program.  They have no trained medical staff or social workers or counselors.

As for Josh, JB & Mechelle tried the labor and pray away the behavior before - without success, yet they feel this will work this time?  They are so blind they can not see how blind they are.  If they are praying for a miracle that this labor camp program will work they will find themselves yet again sorely mistaken.

Michelle always looks like an alien who assumed human form and was told "This is what humans do to look friendly, it's called 'smile'."

If Jim Bob and Michelle were capable of admitting to themselves that they're never going to get their show back, I wonder how much their attitude toward Josh and Anna would change. I wonder if they'd even bother with the Christian labor camps or the TV appearances or the tone-deaf public statements.

"Work will set you free".  It was popular in Germany in the 1930's & 1940's.  It didn't end well for millions of people.

Oh my gosh, LOVESTODANCE, how in the world did you find that out? Doesn't seem like it would come up in normal conversation. (From your almost twin name, Love2dance)

If I told you, you likely wouldn't believe me---but when I say I have been watching that type of thing since I was in diapers I mean just that. It was so secret; nor was it a secret that my parents were apart of that world, nor did they hide it in any which way. So...well, I've seen her work. As an adult, I pretty much stay as far away from porn as humanly possible. I don't judge it; but please don't put it on as background music for your kids. Just a friendly PSA.

I believe it's 'Arbeit Macht Frei' in the original german.

He's probably living under an alias somewhere.  Any new Joe Smithson's checked into town lately?  A secret love nest somewhere perhaps?  He does apparently have friends that may aide and abet him.  Or abed him.

Where's Waldo really has turned into Where's Josh.  I'm actually happy about this.  Another secret mystery unfolds. Maybe they forced him into taking Anna on vacation in the Caribbean to make it up to her or something.  Who knows.

I think its GREAT if Josh Duggar flees. Honestly I am not surprised. Your going to put him against his will (basically) in a ridiculous prayer church..yeah....color me not surprised. He was free and realizes that he is a grown ass adult and can walk out at any time. He knows he doesn't have to deal with this shit. And he doesn't want to!

He needs to get the eff away from this lifestyle and live the way he wants with *consenting, adult* partners. Then he can disappear into the world and we will never have to hear from him again he will just be an anonymous creepazoid trolling the internet for sex .

The more he tries to stay in the Gothard lifestyle the more he is hurting his family. He really would be doing Anna a favor by divorcing her, sending her back to FL and paying child support and alimony for forever.

Sounds like Josh isn't ready for rehab. Honestly, he's a POS, but I can't blame him. His family's non-help is not needed now.

JB need to sell that plane. The Cessna of Secrets is giving the media all kids of stories!

Edit: Just when the Duggars can't fumble this stuff any more, they do. It's weirdly fascinating.

I don't disagree, but the problem is that Josh has always been 100% dependent on his father and his status as a TV reality star of the rightwing Fundie Christian sort, for income. His job with FRC was totally based on his having a base of fans from the TV show, who would donate money to FRC.

How could Josh earn a living without being part of the Duggar Family? He's got no education and apparently no skills. I can't see him getting an entry level job at Home Depot or any other corporation, and working his way up the ladder.

He may break away but it's likely to be the end of affluence for him. Where will his next iPhone and data plan come from if he does?

Tell all book! I would 100% read.

ETA: I think thie gravy train has come to a halt anyway...How much is boob worth? He also has a shit ton of minor kids and grown adult children to pay for. I think the nearly 30 yo son who brought down the family empire multiple times is going to get cut off first. So less incentive for him to stay and do labor camp in Rockford lol

Yes, that's exactly what her parents believe and have espoused. Per Pa Keller, when Josh and Anna got married, he transferred authority over Anna to Josh. Josh is her headship which means Josh is an extension of God in their cult.

This wouldn't surprise me at all since everything they freak out about seems to have spawned directly from something that happened (not from the Bible like they want us to believe). Michele has a miscarriage so birth control is evil. Michele is embarrassed that she mowed the lawn in a bathing suit so girls have to cover up and can't go swimming. Josh molests his sisters so the girls all sleep together with locks on the doors. Josh gets caught on the Internet so the family goes on Internet lock-down. They are one seriously reactionary family. If something goes wrong it must be because there aren't enough rules. Guess that's why they like this "re-hab" place.

They'd honestly get more attention from their parents if they got sent to prison.

The Duggars just got 100% more interesting. I'm glad the show was canceled, but watching this crap unfold every week would have been the greatest ratings boost ever.

That is very true! TLC may be kicking themselves right now for not gimping it a lot through the end of the year.

So I wonder if this means he bailed or if he was never there in the first place.

I foresee the 3 apology versions followed by 3 treatment versions.  My bet is he's in a vacation hideaway somewhere with Anna and the M's.  Somewhere tropical and excluded.  After all he had to work on his marriage, keep it together, make sure Anna didn't leave him and get out of the spotlight.
