Since when is Jim Gaffigan Canadian?  He was born in Indiana and lives in New York.  I expect more from J! fact checkers.

Did they say he's Canadian? I didn't hear that.  I heard "comedian" which could be misheard as Canadian.

Same as so many of you, Fred Mertz was my only ts.  Also sad he was a ts.

Oscar Wilde flitted through my mind first for FJ but the mathematician part led me fairly quickly to Lewis Carroll.

Jon reminds me somewhat of Hal Linden.

I thought Annapolis was a bad guess for FJ. Are the academies considered "state schools?" When I think of a state school, I think of a school run by state employees, like my alma maters, Penn State and the Univ. of Arizona. I wouldn't choose a military academy.

Other than the bad FJ guess, I liked Jon and will miss him. The new champ has a weird vocal tic at the end of her statements (is it vocal fry?) She also had a habit of reading full category names, which drives me crazy. I did like her story about how she met her hubby on a train. I once got stuck on a slow-ass train, the first and last time I traveled via Amtrak, and the only thing I got out of it was a backache.

Method of Modern Love is one of my karaoke jams. It's a favorite of the Hall & Oates catalog for me, but I often have people come up to me after I sing it and ask about it because they never heard it.

I also got D-I-V-O-R-C-E.

I don't think "Fenway" is enough of an answer.  The stadium is named Fenway Park not just "Fenway."  Just because "baseball park" is in the clue doesn't mean "Fenway" is enough.  Just seems incomplete to me.  I think the answer needs the full name.  If the question were Yankee Stadium, is Yankee enough of a response?   Wrigley would be wrong for Wrigley Field, as would Dodger for Dodger Stadium.  And, no, I don't think I am nitpicking.

Took an instant dislike to Rand.  Glad he didn't win.  My adverse reaction to him might influence why I think Fenway was wrong.

I was rooting for Rand, as he's from Decatur, GA, where I live.  Nothing like being geo-centric. Jon, however, while having a slight resemblance to Hal Linden, *really* looks like the husband of a friend of mine. I kept referring to him as Greg.

Color me completely surprised at AT's lack of French exaggeration during the category "From the French" - when I saw that, I groaned, but he did remarkably well not using his accent.

Being the huge Jefferson fan that I am, I'm embarrassed that I didn't get FJ. I just didn't think that in the 40-odd years of its existence, UVA would've been that large. (And would "UVA" have been an acceptable response?)

Jon's doing great!

Quoting myself after Monday's game. Evidently my J! superpower is to jinx contestants that I like. Sorry Jon! We never did find out why you are a former lawyer.

Of the 3, new champ was my least favorite, and I just knew she was going to answer Rachel for the biblical DD.

TS I got were Phoebe (DD), Avril Lavigne, Hall & Oates, Hyundai. Both Dr. Toothbrush & I guessed West Point at first for FJ, but then I changed to UVA because I did not think West Point was a state school. I was waiting for R-E-S-P-E-C-T in the lyrical spelling category.

This makes me sad.

Same thoughts & groans regarding the French category in the Toothbrush house. I also wondered if UVA would have been acceptable.

I got UVA as a lucky guess.

I got it, too, but I prefer to think of it as an *educated* guess!

"Method of Modern Love" was a big hit. How quickly they forget.

Was waiting for a BMS on 'Fenway'. It definitely needed it.

The new champ has a bit of a vocal fry, as well as somewhat of a swaying thing going on. Doesn't annoy me too much yet. We'll see what happens today...

...for this ginormous M*A*S*H fan

I promise I'm not blatantly promoting my books, but I can't resist a cue line :)

The protagonist in my Diet Club Mystery series is a ginormous M*A*S*H fan (also a Kevin Bacon 6% separation fan, LOL) and the second book in the series revolves around someone murdering Hot Lips and Frank Burns look-alikes. The killer is called 'The Masher' (heh!) and there's a group that gets together once a week to watch M*A*S*H reruns. Could one of the members be the perp...?

I thought Lewis Carroll was easy - surprised by the wrong guesses.  Swift was wrong century and not a math guy.  Wilde was a humorist, I suppose, but I'd be surprised if he wrote limericks.  Math and logic = Lewis Carroll.

All I know about Lewis Carroll is that his relationship with the little girl who inspired Alice was highly suspect.  I said Swift, but didn't really think it was correct.

I can't believe "D-I-V-O-R-C-E" and Hall & Oates were TS.

For FJ I said "Georgia Maryland Tennessee Alabama Ole Miss ok Georgia" and did not get to Virginia.  I feel like my choices were way better guesses than Annapolis.

I've never heard that Hall & Oates song, but D-I-V-O-R-C-E as a TS was unforgivable.  And yes, I spelled it out.

For FJ, I said West Point first, then realized that wasn't a state school and said UVA in plenty of time to write it down.

It is not, however, William and Mary.

Not even close!  Although Jefferson probably got a lot of his ideas for UVA when he was a student at W&M, so there's that.  And while W&M is not a land-grant type state school, it is a state (i.e. not private) school, though it has never and will never be the largest state school in Virginia.

As far as Lisette's FJ wager - I just don't know what goes through some people's heads.

That was mighty boneheaded of her.  She was a slow picker though, so I can't get too worked up about her loss.  Not a big fan of Joe, either, but I guess somebody had to win.

Good grief on FJ -- I don't even use the bloody things, and it was an instaget for me.

What a meh bunch of contestants and a weird game.  Swaying Kerry, Slumping Lisette and Slurring Joe.  I didn't want any of them to win.  Joe looked like he wanted to punch Alex at the end when he erroneously announced Lisette was the winner.  That would have been the most exciting part of that dull-ass game.

I got wind, Herbert Hoover, and Okinawa (Ernie Pyle was my Granddad's cousin).

I'm ashamed to admit that I actually had to think about FJ before I got it.

It was all bad.  And you could hear chatter behind her Louis & Vuitton response and then she fixed it and I don't think she should have been allowed to.

I would have marked that wrong too.

Lisette bet against Kerry going all in to win by a $1, but forgot about Joe. Oh well.

I wouldn't be. It took me about 10 seconds before I realized it too. I wasn't thinking about pictorial communication to start with.

I had to wait until they showed the category again before I got FJ.

How did they miss Hoover????

I guess the former champ can't go home since she missed a history DD. That pre-game chatter put me in a sour mood.  If I married a heart surgeon, no one would expect me to be able to perform bypass surgery!

It was a bad game culminated by bad wagering. Boo hiss indeed.

I was so glad they finally ruled against Joe's half-hearted pronunciation of 'primer.' He was just hunting for some other way to pronounce the letters. Pree-mer?

I did like the clue about Swarovski -- "It's crystals!" Alex even said it the way the women on the SNL porn stars do.

I had no idea that the school book "primer" was pronounced differently! I'm guessing I've only read it in novels.

I am surprised no one has mentioned Lisette's comment about her age. Talking about how long she's played the French horn, she said she "doesn't look" 49, right? Was it a conceited remark, or a failed attempt at self-deprecating humor?

I don't know, but it struck me negatively. I thought it was odd, though I think it was probably a clumsy attempt at self-deprecating humor.

I could never be on this show because I hate attention, but there is no telling what stupid, inane things would blurt out of my mouth during the interview. I'm happy just showing off my Jeopardy skills for friends and family.

Is that what she said?  This game didn't hold my interest for some reason, so I really wasn't paying close attention, but I couldn't tell why there was the pause and clarification.  I thought maybe her Vuitton wasn't French enough for Alex.

I said emoticons for FJ.  Apparently they are not the same as emojis so I would have lost.

Prim-er and prime-er.  But I hate prim-er so say prime-er.  Anywho, we should start a thread of "things every Jeopardy! contestant should know."

I hate it too.  If they wanted it pronounced that way they should have spelled it "primmer".  I did not realize they ruled against his pronunciation but I'm glad they did.

I said Wilson instead of Hoover.

My only ts was paratroopers.

I thought the woman who said Louis & Vuitton should have been ruled incorrect right away.  But they let it go because she corrected it in time.  One of our cats is named Louie and her favourite spot to sleep is on the futon so, of course, it is known as the Louie Futon:).

She said "Louis & Vuitton" but there's no 'and.' It's just Louis Vuitton.
