I did not get Brown because I wasn't paying attention to the category.  As a horse owner of many decades, FJ! was an insta-get, even if I still can't spell it.

I'm patting myself on the back for getting FJ today.  Didn't know it but figured it out.

This is a kind of Final Jeopardy clue I really like.  With an educated guess you can get it, and it teaches you something about the world you didn't know.  I didn't know Baskin-Robbins offered discounts on the 31st.  Next Friday!

It's $1.31 for a one-scoop cone on every 31st, but I don't think it's an all day thing. Just between 6 & 10pm or something. You should check their site for exact times.

Yes, live and learn! I knew 31 was significant somehow; at first for some reason I thought 3M.  I figured it out, and I also got cones (why didn't someone ring in after "rods" proved wrong?), access, and Paisley. AT was in his glory with all those French words and names in today's categories.

Kevin is OK but I was rooting for the Classics prof Emlin.

Probably not they had a question about Wynton a month or so a go and the person just said Marsalis and despite me yelling from my couch there was no BMS.

The French was killing me!  But I was laughing at the same time, knowing what y'all were thinking!  :)

Took me a bit for FJ today -- first I focused on the year, then switched to the months and figured out they all had 31 days just in time to make the connection between 31 and Baskin Robbins to write it down, I think.  Good FJ clue.

Missing cones was silly after rods had been guessed and ruled incorrect.  It made me very sad that Friday Night Lights was a TS.  That was such a good show.  I also got Facetime, mostly because a friend recently got an iPhone and has been learning how to use it with me as a guinea pig.  I said pay phone instead of phone booth -- probably would have been ruled incorrect since it was meant to be part of a title, although it's technically correct.  Internet cafe was kind of a boneheaded guess for that one.

Did Alex write these questions himself to show off his French?  Granted he has a very nice accent, but really, a whole category in French and then some more with painters thrown in.

It might not be technically correct either, because there were still lots of pay phones in NYC long after the booths started being phased out.  The pay phones were basically out in the open, with just a kind of shielded head space to ward off ambient sounds.  The booths were structures that enclosed you totally when you made a call.  I should say enclosed both you and the overwhelming stench of urine in the later days.  They were adorable, but they became public toilets.  Couldn't agree more that Internet café was boneheaded.

I figured out Baskin-Robbins instantly, but my husband (who always gets to play the dopey boob on this forum) got the 31 part but couldn't get any further.  He did get both Oxford and Cardiff, which I just stared at blankly, so he's vindicated.

I got the 31st of the months before AT was finished reading. Then, like the two losing contestants' vein of thinking, I said "31 company" but it was still early enough for "flavors" to ring that bell in my head & B-R was my final answer before the music stopped. Somedays I do it, other days I just shrug.

Oh gosh. Me too. I couldn't help but chuckle. Also, my French is terrible -- I never studied it and only recognize a few words -- so I bombed out in that category.

I got Virginia Wolfe, Renoir, and Friday Night Lights. I didn't get FJ. I didn't even think about 31 days in those months. I was concentrated on every other month. That took me nowhere.

I got the TS of Jacques Cartier and Renoir.  Like a lot of you above I figured FJ out at the last second. I agree it was a good clue!

That French category and Alex- holy moly- or should I say Mon Deux!

He is getting insufferable.

I got FJ before Alex finished reading the clue. I just took the first month listed and, knowing that Jan has 31 days, my mind went right to BR. Being a huge ice cream lover no doubt helped ;-) Kevin lucked out again when Emlen got FJ wrong. Kevin has been a very conservative wagerer so far. 

I can never see hidden words, so did not even try in that category; Dr Toothbrush got all but Paisley. The French also cracked me up thinking of y'all!

UGH!!  I got rescheduled Jeopardy! this morning (my station put it on at 9 am to compensate for basketball, but it cut off right after the FJ category was shown.  I didn't get to see the clue or the answers, and it's driving me crazy!  Can someone who actually got the whole show post that information?

For some reason that was a REALLY difficult game for me. Was pretty much struggling in every category. Also would have never gotten Baskin Robbins but knew the "31" was significant somehow.

I answered Thirty One, because there's a purse company by the name, and everyone at work keeps having book parties for them.

I'm fine with the champ staying since he seems like a nice guy, but I have to admit that I wouldn't have minded if Emlen had won, purely for shallow reasons.

I liked the French category and ran it, but although I am an Anglophile, I did poorly in the British city category because I hate the 'word inside phrase' type clues.

I must admit, I really enjoyed the restaurant category--and Alex's mellifluent French was just le glaçage sur le gâteau.  It reminded me of my trip to the French Laundry, complete with all the obnoxious food porn Facebook photos and descriptions, followed the next day by a Giants baseball game where we gave the ballpark food the same treatment.

I accidentally turned on the TV while FJ was still going on (usually I watch on DVR, to skip commercials), so I was spoiled.  I'm not sure if I would have figured it out or not.  :(

I got Renoir, but only because I could see the signature in the corner of the photo.  I didn't know it was one of his, and I doubt the contestants would have been able to read it at that distance.

I had my worst game in a long time. I did get FJ, but the regular categories were just not my cup of tea.

I got recorder, buckwheat, Zamperini -- He grew up near me and there's an airport named for him there -- and My Own Private Idaho. I also got the DD of Lyndon Johnson.

For the clue that had 'shoe dog' in it, I guessed Hush Puppies. :D

I did not know FJ.

It was no surprise when Alex said to the contestant, "I like that name. Devereux."

I have not seen the movie or read Henry IV, so I have no idea. 

Probably kind of like Cruel Intentions claims to be "inspired by" Dangerous Liasons though. 

Did not know FJ once again, a very bad week for me. 

That Wheel of Fortune miss was classic though......A streetcar naked desire.  That same player actually missed the second puzzle as well with one letter left on a crossword puzzle, he guessed Sticky Picket instead of Sticky Wicket.  Not as bad, I've heard of a Sticky Wicket but don't even know what the phrase means. 

Pat is much more easygoing and less guilt inducing when people mess up on Wheel.  He laughed about those misses.  Can't imagine what Alex would have done.  He might have made the contestant cry and given him a 10 minute lecture about the play.

No clue about the connection, sorry. I just remember a movie starring River Phoenix & Keanu Reeves from my late teen years, and somehow my middle-aged brain was able to come up with the title.
