There were comments discussing Caryn's adult son's drug recovery over on the Episode thread, and I wanted to respond, but, felt this was the proper place, since, there have not been anything about that topic on the Episode as of date.

It appears that Caryn's son admits that he gave his mom quite a time (nightmare) with his addiction behavior and that he is very grateful to her for all that she did to help him.  It seems to me that she was not a person to blame, but, to thank.  It's a real ordeal to have a child who suffers with substance abuse and addiction.  I bet Caryn is thrilled and thankful that her son is still alive.

Little People, Big World star Jacob Roloff’s fiancée Isabel Sofia announced the date of the couple’s upcoming wedding in an emotional Instagram post over the weekend.

Sofia revealed that she and Roloff will tie the knot on Sept. 7, 2019.

It's usually the first October weekend.

Yeah, it's just that those in my community open much earlier.  Of course, Florence has caused some to close recently, until further notice.  Also, I noticed that Roloff Farm is only open from Friday-Sunday weekly.  That cuts out a lot of days they could have school groups coming in.  Man, they must really rake in the money to be able to make a profit on only 3 days per week.  That salsa and other products must really be hot items.

Thanks, @Rap541... that link led to me spending 45 minutes going down a Gypsy Sisters rabbit hole, ha

FYI it turns out Mellie is as big a thief as her mother, albeit a far less slick one.  She's been busted twice for scamming ToysRUs out of thousands in a fake coupon scheme ("allegedly").  That Apple sure didn't fall far from the tree. What a surprise.

Heheheh, the Gypsy shows always amused me because my dad's English mother managed to reveal before the dementia kicked in that we weren't really just Cockneys (think, the poor people on Call the Midwife - and no joke, the nicest thing my dad said about England was that it was a third world country he was glad to never see again) but that her father was <gasp> not origanlly a Baker, but a Tuck and was Irish Traveler who had married a Rominischal girl, her mother, and they left the clan because you know... ONLY WHORES AND SLUTS MIX.

But Hellie Mellie and her ilk remind me why being white bread middle class isn't the worst choice my family could have made.

OMG.....April 2 starts the new season.  It looks like it's going to be VERY interesting.  I got a preview video in bottom right corner of screen, when I clicked on this article, but, I can't find a separate link for it.

In the article there are photos and everyone looks quite happy, though, the one of Zach, Tori and Jackson was taken a while ago.

Spoiler

So, it looks like there will be some challenges for Zach and Tori this season. Zach's back is really bothering him AND there's money trouble.

Who will stay and who will go?  What if neither of them concedes?  Are they stuck there forever together?  I would think the divorce papers covered how they could proceed if living both on the farm fails.

They should just do what would make them happy.  Don't stay there just to spite one another.

Possibly.  I have a relative who is a family law specialist and with the level of contention Matt and Amy seemed to have it's quite likely they only managed to get through the actual settlement without attempting to lock in any future plans.  Plus there are differing state laws about what you can put in a decree.   Did someone find the decree online at one time?

I just watched the preview. They are definitely teasing big decisions about the farm. Both couples are very serious. Caryn even teased marriage. Blech. I hope Matt and Amy aren't playing a "who will get remarried first?" race.

Best part about the preview: No Jer or Auj!

It is almost like crying wolf about selling the farm. Matt has been talking about selling the farm since Jacob was around 14-15 and he was still married to Amy.. There have been so many, this could be the last pumpkin season, or Jeremy saying how sad he would be if he can't take his kids to the farm. Are they really selling it his time?

Is it kind of weird if they both marry the first person they dated after their divorce? I always thought after a 20+ year marriage you should date at least a few different people. Amy has said how she jumped into marriage after only spending a short time with Matt. I was divorced years ago, I took over a year just for me, then I dated a variety of people and found "forever" husband who was very different then what I thought I needed or wanted.

Yeah, really sick of Matt pulling the old, tired “I’m thinking about selling the farm” line out of his ass.  Really old, really tired.  Here’s why I don’t think that will happen.  The farm, at this point, is the show.  That doesn’t mean it needs to be, it just is.  They could retool the whole thing to be the Zak and Tory show, focusing in on how they are raising the next generation of little people and comparing and contrasting it with what we saw as issues in Matt and Amy, or even Zak’s generation.  I would watch that and probably enjoy it.  It may be more like the original idea for this show, before it became the Amy vs. Matt show.  And for that reason, I would not like to see either one of them buy the other out and effectively be pushed out of the show.

Of course we know a total sale will NEVER happen, as it will cut off Matt and Amy’s revenue stream and that won’t work.  I doubt that Amy can make a sustainable living off of cakes, and Caryn would flat out leave Matt if there were no money for real estate, nice trips and what not.  Don’t forget, she would lose her “job” too.  OTOH, maybe Matt and Amy may have invested wisely and be ready for this . . .

I don't think Zack and Tori alone can carry this show.

This season it will be just Matt and Amy, Zack, Tori and little guy.  All the rest have exited left.

It will be a watch and see season.

I'm not sure if Jer and Auj left by their own choice.  I suspect TLC said, "You're not little, and neither is your child.  We're gonna focus on Little People . . . like the title of the show indicates.  We don't need to keep you on the payroll."

I would suspect them leaving was mutual or more TLC. Not only are they an average size family, They do not live on the farm. That is a production cost to have their home set up for filming and have a crew travel to other locations. I wonder if they wanted air time for their books or beliefs and TLC wants to stay out of that side of their lives?

I agree no way they sell the whole farm. It is a money maker. I am moving back to New England and looked at a cape cod house that had acres on a road that people drive to see the tree change in the fall, and there was a small pumpkin patch and a few barns and out buildings , I thought about it for a minute, plant more pumpkins, turn the barn into a little store, not saying it is not work but it is just 6-8 weeks a year. Matt and Amy are lucky to have such a business, fools to give it up. Our local pumpkin patch and corn maze made 7 figures last year and it is nothing compared to Matt and Amy's set up.

I think Jer and Aug decided to leave last season!  They have a 3 book deal to write about their marriage!  I can hardly stand to listen to them for a paragraph let alone three books!

Didn't they have a lot of social media fallout around the time flame was born!D

Like him or not Matt is the salesman and idea person that keeps them all profitable.  I suspect he's also pretty bossy with everybody!

I think you hit the nail on the head with them wanting to push their stuff and beliefs for free exposure.

Her legs are really heavy too though. I wonder if dwarfs have more trouble with gaining weight than normal sized people? They have the same stomach as others, but the short limbs? Does that make them gain easier?

Yes apparently they have to be very careful because they gain weight so easily.

I'm basing this on different comments on other "little people" shows... Dr. Jen Arnold from the "little couple" has mentioned it and the "Johnstons" on that other show have discussed it as well..... And IIRC Amy might have mentioned it in the past.

Amy leads an active lifestyle and the meals she posts seem healthy lots of salads etc... I'm surprised that she's packed on the lbs.....  maybe she's a stress eater?

  • Useful 2

That actually looked interesting..

So Zach wants to buy his mom out and become more involved with the farm.

I wonder if they'll move into Amy's old house or do something else for housing, good luck selling the house of a million stairs.

I'm still wondering why Amy left her home if it was so difficult emotionally, maybe she couldn't afford to buy Matt out of the farmhouse side and do all the ongoing upkeep, it's kind of a huge rambling house, with a large in ground pool etc. that would be expensive to keep going but why didn't Chris move in.. certainly they could have afforded it if they took it on together?

I remember months ago tori was stressing about Lilah and Lilah was fussing and crying a lot but in the last few months she's smiling and seems like a happy baby, I wonder if she had a procedure for the hydrocephalus?

Chris got his nose snapped when he dared to say that it was 5 months and that Amy needed to pick up the pace... I wonder what she did with all the junk that was bogging her down, did she finally realize it was garbage or did she pack it all up and drag it to her new place.

Jmo but it looked more interesting than last season which was just Lilahs birth and Amy trying to make up her mind and move.

The season that’s about to start are 5 episodes that had been filmed before they shut down, and weren’t aired last season  due to Covid.

That didn’t make sense to me, why couldn’t they show the last 5 episodes, what has Covid got to do with airing the show?  I think maybe that didn’t film the last 5 episodes because they had to shut down production.  They filmed them now and they will air starting 9/29.  They are also filming the new season for next year.

Production shut down, which includes editing.

Wow, I noticed how Amy jumped on Chris too when he suggested (politely) that she get her act and crap together and finally move out of that house. She can be quite nasty and hateful towards him. If I were Chris, I would run for the hills and not look back. Doesn't this grown man see the writing on the wall? This is a preview of what his life will be with her after they are married and Amy 'relaxes' her company manners when she's around him. I hope his real friends have advised him to move on.

  • Love 8

I mean, I'll be honest, I just rewatched that clip in case I missed Amy screaming in rage at Chris.

That didn't happen. She spoke at him with a normal tone of voice. In a relationship, a man is not so overvalued that he must always be spoken to as though he's the leader and everyone else is a submissive seeker of favors, always gentle and sweet and ready to submit to his will.

As much as I don't agree with the lengthy exit of the big house - better to just hire movers and get stuff moved instead of this car load by car load routine over months - Amy is allowed to be emotional and yet this clip was hardly "Amy screaming in rage at Chris."

I'm sure Chris has seen the show and he's shown flashes of temper so yes, Amy is allowed as well.

Frankly, I'd feel more sorry for Matt in these clips if he wasn't merrily pressing Amy's buttons and tacitly encouraging the situation by allowing the lengthy move out.

The new season looks interesting.  I hope little Lilah doesn’t have hydrocephalus. And if she does, Tori’s a damn fool for continuing to place those headbands on her daughter’s head. Those things give me a tension headache just looking at them. I can’t imagine poor little Lilah with no hair to cushion that elastic.

On a slightly superficial note, this is the best I’ve ever seen Zach. He definitely looks better scruffy than clean shaven.

I see, Matt’s still instigating crap, Amy’s still taking the bait, and Caryn is still meddling in their relationship.
