I hate so many commercials because of the songs, the ridiculous over the top productions, the annoying spokespersons, etc

I think commercials should have their own awards show.

There are also the Clios.

Founded in 1959 to honor excellence in advertising, the Clio Awards today celebrates bold work that propels the advertising industry forward, inspires a competitive marketplace of ideas and fosters meaningful connections within the creative community.

Annually, The Clio Awards brings together leading creative talent for an exclusive and collaborative judging experience to select the entries that will win the coveted Grand, Gold, Silver and Bronze Clio statues.

I was thinking more along the lines of the Golden Raspberry Awards 😊

Has the infamous Jardiance ad had a slight update?  Now there’s a couple near the opening jamming to her performance, and there’s a farmers’ market vendor who looks a lot like the guy who played the postal worker previously.  It still sucks horribly, and gets stuck in my head.

Less hate but more irritate are the Tovala ads that seem to run twice during every break on Tennis Channel.  One version, repeated over and over for months it seems.

Why do advertisers run the same commercial over and over until viewers get angry enough to throw something at the tv?  Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the ad?

"The appeeeeeal of To-vah-la to meeee??"  I hate the annoying drawing out of words and uptalk ending in a question.

I remember them playing commercial awards shows (The CLIOs?) a lot on TV in the past.

I hate, hate the Burger King "you rule" commercials. I hear that stupid jingle constantly, no matter what channel or type of show I'm watching.

The only thing I dislike about the ads is that they remind me the Burger King in my 'hood closed years ago. Not only closed, but torn down and a used car business next to it bought the land and paved it over for more cars. I like their food.

Just saw (for the thousandth time) a commercial for CrownRoyal  featuring a “musician” thanking everything in the sound studio. “Thank you guitar pick, thank you, sliders…”  To be honest he sounds a lot more like he has been indulging in another type of substance (think inhaled rather than swallowed).  I know people who indulge in alcohol can be mellow, but if it’s going to turn me THAT weird, I’ll pass, thanks!

OMG.  You just called Dave Grohl a "musician" with quotation marks?!?

Have you ever heard of Nirvana and Foo Fighters?  Dave's been in 30 bands, the above the most famous.

All of the Jacuzzi Bath Remodel commercials -

The one with the woman who sounds like she's one of the porn stars in the SNL fake commercials, especially when she's naming all the remodel names:

And more recently, the screaming woman.  I hate her.

She and her ex husband did one of those HDTV flipping shows. They had a messy breakup as I recall, and now she's doing the same sort of show with her new husband. I never liked her.

Even I (a 60+ woman who couldn't name a Foo Fighters or Nirvana song if my life depended on it -- well maybe I know one Nirvana song) can recognize Dave Grohl. Mostly from his various appearances in support of good causes.

I'm not too fond of his music (too shouty for the most part) but I adore Dave Grohl.  He is truly one of the best people on the planet.

Mea culpa, folks.  I apologize to everyone- guess I’ve been living under a rock for the past fifty+ years.  I have read nice things about Dave Grohl - but I still think it’s a stupid commercial, sorry!

It's kind of weird, I grant you, but I am amused by him being so nice that he's even thanking his recording equipment.

"Thank you, faders." My husband was in several rock bands back in the day and I swear, I heard every sound man say that at one point.

She did shows with all three husbands (and probably did the same design in each one of the shows; I quickly gave up on the original because her designs were so boring and repetitive and never watched the others).  Poor HGTV executives; she moves from husband to husband so quickly, they must have dedicated staff ready to make the transition from one show to the next.

I despise that sarcastic asshole.

Fourteen years ago when I had cataract surgery, at the end the surgeon said to the team "thank you everybody". And I was still getting the Versed (intravenously) and I repeated "yes thank you everybody", and they all laughed.

I'm stealing "asportual." I feel so seen.

As for Subway, I'm wondering why they have moved to fresh sliced. If I worked there and now needed to work a slicer all day.

I was in Subway and they have a slicer, but the meat was already sliced.  It didn't look like the slicer had been used.  They are trying to compete with Jersey Mile's who slice the meat and cheese right in front of you.

Yeah, I was in a Subway a few days ago and the slicer looked like it had never been used.  I have a feeling most employees aren't too happy about having to slice meat now.

Per NBC News - Subway said Thursday that the sandwich chain will be sold to private equity firm Roark Capital which also owns Dunkin' and Arby's. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

That's Christina of Tareq and Christina that came to "fame" on HGTV flipping houses. She must have one helluva an agent to get a gig on commercials. She does not have a good tv presence. They are now divorced and she has her own HGTV shows. 🤷‍♂️

Not only that, but with the resurgence of bed bugs, a black mattress is the last thing you would want. You have to keep everything white. It is so easy to bring those creatures from hell home with you if you stay in an infected hotel room or vacation rental of some  kind.

Don't do it people!!!!

Does Allstate really pay out if you destroy your own property?

It would depend on the policy, but it's not uncommon for damage caused by your own negligent act* (rather than an act intended to cause damage, like getting mad and taking a sledgehammer to your wall) to be covered.  So, yeah, the basketball hoop scenario is plausible.

(*But it has to be a single negligent act like that; if the negligence is failure to properly maintain the property, the resulting damage is not covered.)

Maybe you meant boor?   Although I much prefer the imagery of her shoving people out of the way like a boar.

Yet incredibly he's only ever made one song worth listening to.  Two, if you count the acoustic version.

I am sick to death of Dean Winters' Mayhem schtick in the commercials.

I kind of like the one where he's playing basketball with his brother because, from what I can tell, that's really Dean Winters' brother. But I agree overall it's time for a new campaign.

Still, it's not nearly as old as Flo and her "family" for Progressive. Talk about beating a dead horse.
