When they were discussing the comments Trump made about punishing women who had abortions, WTF was with Candace, babbling, "He was just flustered! He only sleeps 3 hours a night so he got flustered!"

WHAT?!!! So we are supposed to excuse this incredibly boorish, insensitive, utterly stupid statement BECAUSE HE WAS TIRED AND FLUSTERED?!!!! Candace? You are so clueless it's scary. Flustered is when you're at the ATM, there's a huge line up and you've forgotten your PIN. Hopefully, this will put Trump's foot so firmly in his mouth that it won't come out.

A statement like this could very well cost him the election, fingers crossed.

Why does Raven have a pile of yarn on her head? And why do I keep watching this garbage?

CCB is an idiot - getting mad at Tweety for hammering at tRump - I guess she's mad because since Sykes finally made tRump answer questions (and the NYT Editorial Board) other folks in the media are beginning to as well.  Poor tRump, being made to answer for his assertions and so-called policies.  Paula making excuses for him was ridiculous as well.

Yeah, it was a little ridiculous.  CCB's defense of Trump was based on one thing - he is PRO-LIFE.   Which, in itself is stupid.  EVERYBODY is "pro-life".  Nobody is ANTI-LIFE, because that makes no sense.

Trump deflecting the question back to the interviewer, asking "you're catholic, what does your religion say?"   was a strategy that didn't work.   Abortion is legal.  Women have choices, women have the rights to make those choices - regardless of what CCB's or Trump's or Chris Matthews' religious beliefs are.

Trump was not successful at dodging the question, and he said something stupid.   Yes, he was probably flustered.  But he wants to have a job which entails running on little sleep, being asked tough questions, and being able to not say stupid shit that his "handlers"  have to re-interpret and take back later.  We dont' need a president that says stupid crap and then has to say the next day that he didn't mean it.

The point is not whether Trump can or will make abortion illegal (he can't actually do that), it's about whether or not he has the skill set that the job of president requires.   He proved  that he doesn't, because he wasn't able to give more than a canned answer  to a tough question.  The job of president requires that you have the ability to think on your feet.   But people like PAula and CCB latch onto the "pro-life"  label and cant' see past that.

Trump's other answers - to audience questions in that same interview, were "canned answers".   What's your thinking on student loans?  on veterans benefits?   he answers that's a very good question, it's an important topic, it's terrible what's been happening, blah, blah, blah, my administration will come up with a good plan to address that issue.   That same canned response didn't work as he was pressed to say something of SUBSTANCE.   CCB and Paula need to look at a transcript of what he says, and see that he actually says very little beyond tooting his own horn and talking about how popular he is.

Someone has said that every week since he threw his hat into the ring.  It won't cost him a thing.  The subject that nobody is talking about is that approx. 1/3 of Republican primary voters love this guy and every little misogynistic, homophobic, racist, xenophobic little thing he says.  Some have blamed the Republican party while others have blamed the media, while nobody is blaming the knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing cretins for voting for this asshole in the first place.

One more thing: Whoopie, you are not Maya Angelou, the masses are  not waiting  with bated breath for your sage advice and approval..

Hahahaha!   Nailed it!   Except for today when she imagines herself to be so hot, she's on "many many people's celebrity hook up wish list" or as we peons call it "celebrity free pass list" - something I first heard about TWENTY years ago on Friends, lol and like someone else posted here - makes no sense for actual celebrities to play.

I don't like the way Paula brushed off Kasich signing the bill defunding PP as no big deal, saying that there are other clinics to take up the slack. That's not necessarily true. PP is located in areas that best service some of the most needy women. Making them travel to other clinics is burdensome in many cases and totally unnecessary. And also cruel, vengeful and short-sighted. Yeah, like the way to make the abortion rate go down is to make it harder for women to access birth control.

I didn't see the show yesterday, but I'm going out on a limb here and guessing thanks to the show's crack fact-checking staff and Paula herself, she probably didn't mention the list of "other women's health centers" included dentist offices, elementary school nurse's offices, senior centers, and a food bank.  I would love to ask Paula how college students are supposed to get birth control from the elementary school in their neighborhood.

Words cannot express how much I despise how Whoopi opens the show. Why the need to bellow, "WELCOME TO THE VIEW WELCOME TO THE VIEW WELCOME TO THE VIEW WELCOME TO THE VIEW", replete with finger pointing?

First she started saying it twice - once to the audience seated behind her back, once to the audience facing her (and us) but I think someone told her to stop it and so now she just ramps it up - as her 'signature' or something equally dumb.  Kind of like how she changed the closing line of "Take a little time to enjoy the view" to "Enjoy whatever view you happen upon."  She stopped that for a while (maybe at a producer's suggestion?) but now says it in a way thatI get the feeling she's being defiant.   Lame.

Two are on the panel of the View.  I don't have to tell you who, it's the ones who don't understand what it means to be transgender, who thinks the man in the family is the natural born leader, who values the life of the fetus over the life of the mother, who don't consider themselves feminists, who think other religions and non-believers are going to hell.  The two who want America to be great again!

Why does Michelle keep saying she is hairy because she is of Eastern European heritage?   That is nonsense!  Ii wish she would just shut up - she's not funny or entertaining!

I don't think it's nonsense. I am of Eastern European heritage myself and it's true that I/we have more facial hair (and body hair in general)  than say someone of Norwegian decent. Also women of Middle Eastern heritage; didn't Paula say she had laser hair removal on her legs for a birthday gift?  Lasers, threading, waxing, etc. are all familiar terms for the women in my family.

I thought Born Again/Bible Barbie wrinkling her nose and making faces like she's never heard of women having facial (gasp!) (or just being hairier in general) was ridiculous.  Of course, the whole topic was ridiculous but that's not unusual.

Count me in as hairy. Share the ethnicity. But as I age it has diminished somewhat. Still tweeze and shave though.

I think she does it as a holdover from her teenage sitcom days. The extreme facial expressions, jumping out of her seat, and OTT reactions to situations that are rarely (or barely) humorous is her bread and butter shtick. It's like she knows she's struggling on the show and is diving into her bag of tricks to see if what once worked for her "in the industry" will help her now. Sad really. And also annoying as hell.

When Whoopi was looking her best, I can see men wanting to hook up with her, I bet she's freaky deaky in the sheets and they've heard stories.

I don't see how women trying to get an abortion if it is illegal aren't criminals.  It's just taking the GOP's position to the next logical step.  You think they are murderers but then they face no consequences?  What about women who try to do it themselves then?  Won't they face prosecution?  And WTF was Paula talking about.   I think most people's positions on abortion are very complicated.

I agree the woman seeking an illegal abortion for whatever reason is also guilty of a criminal offence which is why abortion should not be illegal to those making that choice.  Anything that is illegal to purchase is also illegal to buy, same difference.

What on earth are they doing to Michelle's eyes?  Every time she is on she has a different "slant" of eyeliner making her eyes look friggin' weird!  One more Joyless day......

You know I was thinking about CCB saying her husband rules the roost. Hasn't Paula more or less said the same thing?  And we all know in the Hasselbeck home Tim was the decider.  So  then I guess those three husbands decided it was OK for their wives to go out and be the major breadwinners in their family.  How very thoughtful of them.  Blech.

And as far as Whoopi being on a lot of wishful hookup lists.  Yeah I'm not ever going to believe that.  We live in a shallow world and Whoopi isn't an attractive woman.

And I agree with Loveisjoy. I think Raven's over exaggerated facial expressions are her thinking she is still playing the role she played on That's So Raven.  Which begs the question is the Raven we see the real her or is she playing a character.

So Candace was upset Trump was asked hard questions.  Funny I haven't seen her upset about Hillary being grilled for oh the last 20some years.

You know, that's the THING with fundamental, conservative, uber-Christian (or Mormon) people---CONTRADICTION (!) to every "family value" or Bible teaching that they profess to keep a death grip on in PUBLIC. Aaarrgg

So, pardon the crudeness, are these women-- Butsy, CCB, and Paula-- whores for the dollars that being on tv brings? Or are they fooling themselves that they can preach the Word at these jobs?

No doubt, I m sure they get fan tweets from other like minded women-- happy to work their asses off (for alot less money and perks), while letting their huzzbins make decisions... kinda. Contradicting their "beliefs" that raising kids (full-time) is the most important woman's role.

While I m at it., the view that these types--conservatives, et al, are victims, fighting bravely against the secular libralls to hang onto their family values, like the Duggars or Cruz, is nauseating. ....nuff said. Get off my tv, CCB, and go home to your children.

Where is Joy when I need her to keep me sane?

"shop lifting is an illness"- oh Raven.

She's supposed to the 'young one' representing my views, but she is not the brightest crayon is she?

Kleptomania is a mental illness - a compulsion to steal things you don't even need.  And it's not a legit defense, because it's not insanity.

But stealing stuff because you want it?    Not a mental illness. Kids stealing toys or candy is NOT a mental illness.

Sunni said if her kid was a murderer - she'd hide the body?   But that is also a crime!!!

They are usually live on Friday's. Here's the ticket site The View/ABC's site connects people to when they click on tickets. They have at least one Friday available. It looks like after next week the show will be off for a week according to the ticket site anyway.

http://1iota.com/Show/385/The-View

Maybe they have or will be taping a week's worth of pre-taped shows? I don't really think they will but it's a thought.

I usually love Joy, but through the years she has always acted as if shoplifting is something everyone does and it's no big deal. I think she said once that her mother shoplifted too. Shoplifting is stealing, and there is no excuse for it. I may be extra sensitive to this topic since I owned a retail store for twenty six years, and shoplifting is a damaging crime and should never be laughed away as a minor thing.

Because it [Enjoy whatever view you happen upon] changes the show's 20 year tagline - and makes it The Whoopi Goldberg Hour.   I really want Whoopi to have her own show with her own name on it and see how long it lasts.

Exactly.  Trump just said out loud what so many anti-choice activists have been promoting for decades.  Ted Cruz has been endorsed by groups that 100% support the criminalization of the medical procedure.  Trump didn't say anything the anti-choice people don't already believe - they  aren't upset at what he said, just that he actually said it out loud.    Because in a country where abortions are illegal -  a woman's pregnancy becomes an interest of the state.

ETA:  I understood Paula to mean that whatever a person's private [religious or otherwise] positions on abortion may be  most people's positions on choice [abortion] are pretty clear cut politically.  Either someone is for choice or they are not.  And that's been my experience as well.   Sunny said something similar a few weeks ago when she said that her own religious beliefs did not allow for abortion she has no desire to apply those beliefs to every other woman although she called herself "pro-life".   I was disappointed she didn't seem to understand that it's not about "life" but about choice.
