They (the Impact Team) chose not to do the same for AM's other site called Cougar Life, where the members are mostly women.

 

Josh was already outed over the molestation story.  Is it necessary to dig into every single horrible thing he has ever done in his life? I worry that this is a source of entertainment for so many. 

 

 

I suspect the hackers didn't bother with Cougar Life because it's not focused on adultery, like Ashley Madison. 

 

As for why this is a source of entertainment, well, as has been said before, Josh and his family have spent so much time calling others child molesters and such that finding out that he can't even live by the rules that he insists that everyone should live by is irresistable.  As someone else said, it's nice to know that my agnostic non-gender-typical self is more moral than he according to his own rules!  If he hadn't taken a job as a professional hate-monger, I don't think we'd have this reaction (I was thinking, what if it was John-David?  I suspect it would be pretty much a non-issue, certainly for me, since he's not (as actively/loudly?) pointing fingers at others).  Live by the sword, die by the sword, says I.

 

It's the same reason why I'm generally against outing people as gay, but if a closeted person is being loud about how gays are awful and evil and going to hell and don't deserve rights and such, then they are fair game.

 

Your opinion may differ, of course, and probably does!  But it works for me.

 Abso-freaking-lutely. Josh, his parents and every adult member of this effed-up family have been fair game ever since the first moment they got on their soapboxes and declared that they knew better, did better and were better than the rest of us, especially those who dared to disagree.  The only family members whom I feel sorry for are the kids, who have no choice whatsoever. Joshie's "allegedly" cheating on his wife and paying for the privilege are just more nails in the coffin. Once again, Josh proves that if he had practiced what he preached and "[kept] sweet," he wouldn't be in trouble in the first place. Josh is not only getting what he deserves, he brought it on himself and his family. The more they're exposed for the judgmental, sanctimonious and hypocritical scumbags that they are, the better, as far as I'm concerned.

I also hope when the Duggars come asking for money for their various projects they are told to go ask Josh for some cash. Did he ever actually mention specific people during his job at FRC or were his comment more general regarding the gay community?  I know he spoke forcefully against gay marriage, but I am unaware that he singled specific individuals out.  How is it he was 'entertained' by it?  I'm just not seeing it.  Whether you agreed with his fundamental stances or not, I think he was just expressing his opinion and that of the FRC, as was his constitutional right.  I see it as quite different from delighting in someone's fall from grace, so to speak. There are hypocrites everywhere. And I just cannot wish that more 'dirt' will come out.  To what end?  For other people's amusement?  IMO there is something wrong about rejoicing in another person's downfall or bad luck, or bad karma, or whatever you want to call it.  Again, just my opinion.

 

Sooo ... the "gay community" aren't "people" now?  He didn't have to single out specific individuals - but he did quite heavily during the election cycle in condemning candidates that supported Marriage Equality.  And he clearly enjoyed his work.  And while everyone is entitled to their own opinion, by no means is ANYONE entitled not to be called on their bullshit.  Call it entertainment all you like, but it's more like social justice for all the people he's lied to, for all the people he's insulted or made to feel like a lesser human being.

It's his constitutional right to express his opinions, but he also supported legislation that would rob entire groups of people who did nothing to him of their rights. Not constitutional. I'm not in Washington lobbying to pass bills that would legally obligate Josh Duggar to have sex with both men and women just because that's what works for me. I'm not in Washington lobbying to make Josh Duggar's marriage to Anna not recognized by the state just because I personally find them and their cult distasteful. Overall I don't agree with what the hackers did either, it's a huge invasion of privacy. But I don't have a problem with Josh specifically being outed because it really couldn't happen to a more deserving person. Nobody would be anywhere near this frenzied about it if Josh hadn't been spewing judgment in his grammatically free-jazz English  for the past ten years at every opportunity. Josh Duggar is a liar, a charlatan, a low-rent used-car salesman who uses Christianity to bolster his own ego and his own selfish needs.

What difference does it make? The sort of toxic advocacy that the Duggars espoused contributes to the hate and cloud of fear that many LGBT people continue to live under. Was it their constitutional right to say what they did? Sure. No one's advocating for legislation to take that away from them. And, see, that's the difference between the Duggars and me. They're the ones who are trying to legislate their conservative Christian morality upon the rest of us.

 

I see it as quite different from delighting in someone's fall from grace, so to speak. 

So do I. Taking schadenfreude in someone else's misfortune is much less of a big deal than actively advocating for legislation to strip a marginalized group of their civil rights.
