stealinghome September 29, 2014 Share September 29, 2014 I think Parrilla is very good as Regina (though she was better in S1 than she is now), but imo it's clear Robert Carlyle is absolutely head and shoulders above the rest of the cast. (When he wants to be, at least.) 2 Link to comment
FurryFury September 29, 2014 Share September 29, 2014 Yeah, I think Parrilla has a lot of screen presence, which is, for some characters, more important than actual three-dimensional portrayal of their emotions. She was great as a full-on villain in s1, and the real root of the problem that is Regina now is the writing. Even Meryl Streep wouldn't make this whiny hypocrite of a character worthy of rooting for (at least for me). 3 Link to comment

The actual tweet should be the tagline of the show. "This book is why I'm suffering!" It sounds like Regina ran out of people to blame, so she started turning to inanimate objects now. FurryFury September 29, 2014 Share September 29, 2014 Some time ago, there was a show on ABCFamily called "Twisted". I didn't watch it, but apparently, there was a certain character that was really, really beloved by the writers, and they were constantly trying to make the viewers like her and feel sorry for her (sounds familiar?) to the point of showing Twitter hashtags #PoorJo in the corner of the screen during the show. I really, really wouldn't be surprised to see something like that for Regina if ABC practised hashtagging. Hmm, and now I wonder what would the other hashtags be... 1 Link to comment

I'll go now before the speeding train of Regina hate and disdain for all who consider themselves fans headed through here hits me. I'm not saying she is a bad actress (the only truly bad are Emilie de Ravin and Jared Gilmore), but I don't think she is that good either. Carlyle is way better than the rest, and I think that O'Donoghue, Morrison and Goodwin are really good. But Parrilla and Dallas, even if they have good moment, are not as good as the rest. Not bad, but not as good. But this is just my opinion. Edited September 29, 2014 by RadioGirl27 2 Link to comment
TheGreenKnight September 29, 2014 Share September 29, 2014 Personally, I don't see Carlyle as that much better than Parrilla. I think both of them and Morrison are on the same level. Everyone else is a step down for me, but not too bad. Ravin, Gilmore, and Raymond-James are the worst actors of the series for me. Link to comment
Crimson Belle September 29, 2014 Share September 29, 2014 If Parilla is supposed to be playing her character to make us sympathetic, then she's worse than Gilmore. 3 Link to comment

Mari October 1, 2014 Share October 1, 2014 It was beyond ridiculous. I feel the same way. I watched it before I watched Sunday's episode, and found myself dreading season 4. Usually, the characters and themes they feature in the clip shows are what they're planning on focusing on in the coming episodes. It was Regina! Regina! Regina! Oh, we have some other characters. Regina! Regina! Regina! Oh, and Emma causes a lot of problems. Sometimes there's a pirate. Regina! Regina! Belle can see into people's hearts and see who they truly are. Regina! It was so disassociated from what I've actually seen on the screen that I've started wondering if one of us--A,E, or me, is delusional. I'm truly hoping it isn't me. 2 Link to comment

retrograde October 8, 2014 Share October 8, 2014 (edited) I think the iO9 review is well written and funny. It's just written for a different audience -- namely, people who hate-watch the show. Which is cool, I have hate-watched many shows, and loved reading recaps from reviewers who were doing the same. Smash, for instance, inspired some fantastic hate-recapping. In what version of the show is "only Regina held responsible for her crimes because she's a woman"? My favourite gem from those recaps was when she was lamenting that two "criminals" like Emma and Neal were considered Henry's parents instead of a "single working mother" like Regina. Like literally, she said Regina was a better mother because Emma and Neal were criminals who went to prison. That broke my WTF-meter. When your insult to Neal is so over-the-top that it makes even me, who likes to call him Douchefire, want to defend him, you know you've lost all perspective. The same way I discount Belle's opinion. Also, ha, they think if it's done because the show's ratings needed a boost is even worse than the thought that Adam and Eddy ran out of ideas. I would find the latter more disturbing, because a) shows with low ratings get cancelled, trying to raise them isn't that bad a thing b) the majority of the public does not know any of the fairy tales Disney hasn't done and they won't care. And you can't really delve into Hans Christian Anderson for things to make DARKER. Have they not realized all the depressing death he wrote? Meanwhile, turns out Dairy Queen did more than retweet, they must've been following the OUAT tag, or at least William Shatner. https://twitter.com/DairyQueen/status/521712432440684544 @WilliamShatner a BLIZZARD Treat is a delicious distraction to anyone, even the Snow Queen! :) 1 Link to comment

retrograde October 19, 2014 Share October 19, 2014 This IGN interview with Georgina Haig (not spoilery) has a cute anecdote: Question: Have you tried going to lunch around here in costume? [Editor's Note: Haig was in the full Elsa costume during our conversation with her] Haig: I know, I wouldn’t dare! When we film in Steveston, we’re in an actual town and often there are people that come to watch or just townsfolk. One time I was standing in the street doing a scene and this little girl was going to the dentist and she looked so upset. Obviously kids don’t particularly like going to the dentist. She looked up and I was just sort of staring at her because I was like maybe if I wave, she’ll feel better. She got my eye and I was like, “Hi!” and she was just [mimes gasping “Elsa!”] 2 Link to comment
