Did anyone see that Cooper, aka the poor man’s Truman Capote, is charging to join his Facebook page? Subscribers get access to his SC recaps. I used to like Cooper but find him to be flat out mean on social media so I’m not giving him any of my money. Also, two of my favorite writers, Brian Moylan at New York Magazine and Dustin Waters at Charleston City Paper, write hysterical, well-written recaps that you can access for free. In fact, there are at least a half dozen free recaps floating around. He’s not close enough to any cast member to have real insider information so I’m not sure how long or why he thinks he can sustain this venture.

I don't begrudge anyone for making money on social media or by another avenue the show provides (so long as it's legal and doesn't hurt anyone).

This is a once-in-lifetime opportunity.  If it were me, I'd capitalize on it in every way possible - but with strategy in mind.  It's all about branding and image.  The young people on Bravo shows are learning that lesson as they go.

Naomie confirms her new boyfriend Metul Shah:

Craig's quote is LOL:

Quote

Conover, who dated Olindo for three years before their September breakup, echoed her sentiment. “As long as she stays out of my life, then I’m happy for her,” he told PEOPLE at NBC’s Summer Press Day last week. “I just don’t want her getting involved with anything I’m doing.”

Hmm, then it might affect either or both their status for next season.

Because what do either have going besides their relationship, on the show that is?

Craig is OG so he'll probably be kept.

Natalie is going to have to find a role as what, shit-stirrer and lead mean girl?

Oh please. Let’s hope not. I can do without her constant criticism.

Craig has always been Craig and has a spot on the show.  Naomie is doing the Cameran thing with my man will not be on the show.  Nico's better become the show hang out for her to stay on the show.

I really hope Bravo severs ties with him. Honestly, the more time marches on the more it seems like the show shouldn't even be on the air anymore - all white, rich cast in the South, all the not-Craig men are varying degrees of absolute creeps - but at least get Thomas out of there. They could maybe, maybe, do a spin-off of just the ladies like a JV housewives squad, but I don't think that would really work either.

I don't know what to say about the Kathryn of it all. I think it's been clear that he's got substance abuse issues too - he is at the very least a former cokehead and current drunk, and it's infuriating how his castmates just shrug it all off - and in a perfect world something like this coming to light would swing custody in her favor, but it's just an absolute mess on both sides. Poor kids.

Have you've ever seen the sizzle reel? It's only the guys excluding Craig being gross dickbags. It would have been a shitshow.

I've seen you mention it before so I've been vaguely aware that Whitney was pitching some tone-deaf "who would ever want to air this, you dumbass mama's boy with no self-awareness" show that was then retooled into Southern Charm, never watched any of it myself, but I just found and watched what appears to be the sizzle reel on vimeo.

I got until TRav started bragging about the Ravenal's plantation holdings and now I want to Kool Aid man myself through a wall in pure rage.

Literally the only reason I ever check in on this show anymore is to talk about it with all of you lovelies, and because it is so oddly compelling, but I've come to a point in my life where this show feels actually unconscionable.

I'll probably watch it tonight anyway.

The more this is spread in media and social media, the harder it's going to be for Bravo to ignore, especially in the age of #MeToo.

If Thomas was a GOP officeholder of some kind, they'd just sweep it under the rug.  But I don't see how Bravo could ignore it.

As for the cast, I guess they just want to secure their place on the show.

Bravo now needs to find another rich guy who has relationship problems maybe.

Or maybe the show's time is over.

If Bravo isn't careful, there could be some organized boycott unless they dump him

Totally agree with all you said. Thomas has been the “star” of the show since the beginning, Whitney knew casting him would be a big draw. But now? No.

Is anyone else bothered that they don’t do the usual opening credits, showing the cast, with the theme song?

Another article that talks about show direction this season, slightly spoilerish, unless you follow the cast on social media.

Seriously, I wish those two could hook up for good. She’d get to make Patricia an instant grandmother and get to live the swanky party life with Whit. Unfortunately, I think she’s way too demanding and high-strung for Whitney. Insert closet gay Whitney joke here.

Whitney reuniting with the woman he called a “hillbilly femme fatale”! That would be interesting...

Craig & Kathryn are on WWHL tonight, May 21st, and are making the NYC media rounds today.

Appears they've been asked not comment on the allegations against Thomas.

There are other allegations about TRav out there as well. Go onto AGC Blind Items (May 2018) and read numbers 196 and 226. TRav is a hot mess.

Bingo. A paid escort to try and make him look good on TV and in the media so he can keep his children and beat any allegations of bad boy behavior.

Edited to add: What galls me the most is how much he subjected his children to this woman. I mean she might have been perfectly nice and good to them but he knew that she was only a limited player.

I know this is the allegation, but Jenna from season 1 was a kept woman and she wasn't this desperate to land her dude. Unless the allegation is that Ashley is a hooker in the middle of a long term girlfriend experience where she's playing the lovestruck desperate girl.

  • Love 2

I don’t think that Ashley is a hooker as in look up “escort services” in the yellow pages and have her sent to your seedy motel room...based on old movies (shrug). We saw her nursing license registration, so I do think she really is a regular person he met in a bar. However, I do think it’s likely that T-Rav told her if she moved out to Charleston to date him, he’d get her set up in her own apartment and take care of her financially for a year—because that’s the exact scenario we’re seeing on TV. She apparently moved out immediately without really knowing him, she has her own place that he pays for, he pays for Gwynn’s shopping sprees, and she has no intention of getting her SC nursing license or any other type of a job. But although October is a year since filming, she moved out in June, right? So maybe he’s trying to get rid of her based on her actual year move in date and she’s pushing it to a year since filming. OR, the whole thing is made up and that’s why the dates don’t line up.

  • Love 7

Yeah I also don't buy that Ashley is in some weird long-term "girlfriend experience" situation. I do think, though, that her and Thomas's scenes have felt shockingly contrived from the jump, even by reality tv standards. I wouldn't be at all surprised if these two dummies put their heads together and plotted out their vision of this season together and had no idea how it would actually come across. I think it's way more likely that she's with him to be a kept woman and most importantly a reality tv character.

I don't think it was damage control, really, because I don't think TRav had any idea or fear that his past assaults would come to light (because he is a dumb, drunken monster of a man)...I think he just wanted to "win" a season again, and bait Kathryn into looking like the crazy one yet again. The whole deal with Ashley is just an escalation of the shit he was pulling with Landon...but even dolphin-giggle McGee had a couple moments of clarity where she realized she was just a pawn in antagonizing the baby mama.

A good interview of Naomie. She did admit that she was unnecessarily mean to Craig this past season and she cringes at it, watching back. Also clears up that it's not Craig's sewing that drove her crazy but his procrastination:

http://www.bravotv.com/the-daily-dish/southern-charms-naomie-olindo-wants-to-clear-some-things-up-about-her-breakup-with

Quote

But now as Naomie relives the months following her breakup with Craig as this season of Southern Charm airs, she recently told The Daily Dish that she now wishes she hadn't been "so mean to Craig." "Oh my gosh, I think that's probably my biggest regret. It's funny because now I'm in such a different headspace than I was eight or nine months ago, and so watching back how angry I was all the time, and I'm like, 'Why did you let this drag out so long? Why didn't you just get over it and act like a nice human being?'"

Quote

"The reason I had a problem with it was Craig is a procrastinator, and he was using sewing as a way to procrastinate doing things that he actually needed to do, you know, important things. ... Instead of doing something that he had a deadline on or whatever, he'd just sit and sew all night, not the actual fact that he sewed."

I read that she is working at a home care agency in Charleston that looks after terminal patients.  I’m not sure if that requires a SC nursing license or not though.

There are many opportunities to work in a place like that which do not require a RN (or is she working as a LPN). She could be working as a nurses aide, for instance.

Hospice has positions which you can volunteer for that require no formal medical knowledge. A lot of those families need support. Someone to sit with their loved one while they go shopping, even taking the client to medical appointments  or sometimes just to give a break to the family or primary caretaker. It’s a very rewarding thing to do but can be depressing and sadly you know that you are going to lose this person in your life as an end result.

Both her California license and her South Carolina one have been posted online. The California one is I think in Cameron’s thread. She is a RN.
