Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

Does anyone know if Nathan lived in the RV prior to marrying Nurie? Nathan's parents' home is big enough to house four adults, unlike Tim and the Barndo.

I read about families living in little houses, school buses and RVs fulltime. The Influencers make it all sunshine and rainbows, but others are very honest and share the challenges.

Jessa's house and the Keller's doublewide make sense to me, but living in an RV in the parents' backyard doesn't - unless its temporary.

I get that everyone's picket fence dream is different, but the thought of being stuck inside an RV during a week of rain, or a month of scorching heat, is not a pleasant one for me. Throw in a baby, its worse.

Idk,I'm guessing that even if they do get another place, like a mobile home or build a house,it'll still be on the Keller's property, which makes good financial sense for them.I do hope they can get something bigger than the rv,esp. before more kids come along.

I guess till then, they can always visit Ma and Pa Keller,or go for a drive or to a park or something

I had baby Tender Love,I think from 1973.I still have it in storage.I also had Barbie,Ken and Dawn dolls. And her sister Skipper, and a Barbie house and camper van.Only reason I had those was because my Godmother got them for me.

My narc mom later ripped me for cutting their hair when I was little.I was 45 at the time.Sometimes you just gotta laugh.LOL

My sister had the Tommy doll from the late 50's.She marked on it and gouged the eyes out.It looked like something from a horror movie! Did my mom ever rip her for it? Nope. She was the Golden child.Even though her doll looked like it'd been thru hell.LOL

Thx to my mom,and dad too,he could be a bigger narc than her sometimes,I know exactly how Jill operates

I had baby Tender Love too. I still have her. I have clothes for her still and will change her outfit every so often. She has the movable arms and legs. I still have that yellow dress too.

I lived in an RV for 9-ish months with my brother and my dad and stepmom when I was 10 during a particularly bad spell of unemployment and family turmoil. Maybe it would be okay for one person, but it was miserable and stressful for a family of 4 and 1 parrot. I fucking hate RVs as an adult, to the point of being kind of psycho about it. No joke, but I almost noped out of early seasons of both Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead because of the prominent presence of an RV in both those shows.

All that's to say, I really hope Nathan and Nurie aren't living in an RV. I'd been under the impression they had a house, but I guess that's not true?

And meanwhile, Carlin and Evan decided to take a trip down memory lane. Evan's old job in Nashville was in a hospital. So yup, they dragged their kid and themselves through the halls of a hospital during a pandemic, for no reason at all.

I can’t believe that the hospital let them do that!  The hospitals in my area still have many restrictions.  Damn!!  If you added together the IQ’s of those two dumb asses, it would still be in the single digits. That poor child is doomed. 😡

I always wondered why we have to fear Jesus? Never understood that...

I heard once you should replace the word fear with respect,as that's what it really means. Not sure, but it makes sense 🙂

I still have my "Twist-N-Turn" Barbie from 1968 AND her 15 year old cousin, Francie in my original 1966 Barbie case...the 'big' one. Some Barbie outfits have survived from the early '60s. By 1969, the quality of those outfits went downhill and I still have some of those. I wonder if this is worth any money today?

Jill hasn’t posted anything on SM since March 11.  I wonder if she and/or her family have finally run out of luck and contracted Covid?

Nah. She's either out of data or gone quiet, she ususally has a fairly quiet spell before she goes mental again

She’s busy searching the Fingerhut catalog for more junk to buy since they’re getting the stimulus soon.

When is the overflowing Ladies' Retreat happening? Maybe Jill is busy, unlike her during her normal days.

Or maybe the family got infected on their trip. Not that I wish Covid on anyone, even Jill, but getting sick before the retreat would be a SEVERE blow to her. The show would have to go on without her there in the spotlight.

The retreat is on 3/26-3/27

Heck, she would try to run the show virtually from her hospital bed!

If she were at all able to function, she'd run the dang thing in person regardless of being sick, since Jesus wants her to be front and center  and would be protecting her (and incidentally everyone else).

Would anyone else in the world drag double digit kids, self and husband many miles and impose their boorish selves for weeks on end?

I was taught that one shouldn't wear out one's welcome.  This crazy woman has no boundaries.  Nathan better grow a pair.

Yes,the saying fish and company stink after 3 days.

We used to visit family in Fl growing up,and my dad would split the visits between relatives.I asked him why couldn't we just stay with my fav. aunt all week, and he said we don't want to wear out our welcome.I agree with that now 🙂

I think the factor limiting JillR's trips to FL, is that they are ostensibly traveling to serve Jesus by making appearances at churches along the way and isn't it a blessing that their itinerary somehow lands them in Florida? (Especially during the winter months; I suppose Jesus doesn't need to be served up in the far North then, at least not by the Rods.) I don't know much about how these traveling fundie gigs work, but I'd think that the host churches aren't in a position to bring the Rods in frequently. Although maybe if they get enough money from the stimulus checks, JillR will decide they can afford to gas up the stinkRV and go to FL without any gigs along the way.

And if anyone knows, do the churches pay the Rods for their appearances? Or do they just book them and then arrange for some "hosting" by feeding the Rods while they are in town, or a big potluck at the church when the Rods appear? Do they pass the collection basket during the Rods appearance and give that "love offering" to the Rods? Just wondered how it all works. Jill has posted on SM when they are treated to meals in restaurants, and boat trips, and visits to nice houses, on their travels. But I doubt most fundie preachers have fancy houses or nice boats, so I wonder what the usual situation is, if there is a "usual." Hope that makes sense.

What area of Florida do the Kellers live in?  I think they might be near my son and I will be there over Easter weekend.  Just wondering if the Easter Bunny might give me a Rod sighting for Easter.

I believe they live in Interlachen.

Fingerhut is too high class for Jill. She either goes to Hobby Lobby or just scoops items from the free box at people's garage sales!

And even if they don't have any church gigs lined up, Jill will lie about it. She'll make up stories about all the heathens she brought to Jesus at every rest stop. And I wouldn't put it past them to crash a few church services, uninvited and unannounced, to snap a few pictures with sweet friends that she can post online (and to score a few free meals).

I had a suitcase of old Barbies and I even had a Cher and a Marie Osmond doll, tons of clothes too. We had a sewage flood in my basement and I lost them all. My heart breaks to think about it but they couldn't be saved. Water sure, sewage, no.... it was gross.

I remember musical groups coming to our church.  The basket was passed during the event and dinner was served.  I bet that's all the Rodrigues get unless the church is rich enough to hand over a "love" offering of one or two hundred dollars.  And then of course, there is the charity offered by church members.  They probably make enough to cover the gas and get as much free food as possible.
