Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

In the comments someone asked how david was. Jill"s response was this

" He is being admitted at Hamot. Please put him on your Prayer Group. He has had a rough night."

correction - i misread the comments and it is someone else's husband going into the hospital

Mr. Google tells me Hamot is a hospital in Erie, PA. That seems awfully far from where they live. Anybody have any other info?

That meal looks nasty, as usual.  I wasn’t even sure what the potatoes were.  How in the hell can you manage to screw up a boiled or baked potato to the point that it’s unidentifiable?  What was the white-looking stuff on the skin of those potatoes?  And don’t even get me started on those desserts. 🤦🏼‍♀️ SMDH

The foods looks so unappetising and it's not enough for everyone. Those brussel sprouts make me want to heave and what is that butter for? Make a proper sauce! Dry arsed potatoes and whatever that weird coloured gunk is as desert......a feast. Not.

Her cooking always looks so gross.

And a jelly BEAN hunt? Bean? As in single bean? Why would you do that? Hunting down single jelly beans?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Jill is a Monster

Cough, I recommed you look up Kelly Havens Ohio on Reddit. Her cooking/baking is......something else;-)

In the video, David instructed everyone it was for the potatoes, as he spooned it over the top of his.

On unpeeled 'tatoes? What's the point in that?

I will never understand that Fundies refuse to cook properly

Absolutely!

And, I've been known to put butter on plain cooked (peeled) potatoes, along with salt and pepper. Not a religious thing, just makes them more appetizing to me.

Also, David taking a Sunday afternoon nap is the most nearly normal thing I've seen them do. Although I assume he woke up in time to haul the herd back to church for the Sunday evening preaching.

I live in Ohio and it was cold on Easter! About 40 degrees cold and the littles are outside with no coats, short sleeves, and shoes or socks. Way to go Jill!

e

The HIGH temperature on Easter Sunday in Wooster was 39F!  And there are those poor kids, running around outside without shoes or coats.  What the he** is wrong with her?

I wonder if anyone will ask Jill if the rainbow topping on the pies was in honor of the LGBTQ community?

I was looking at the plates in the picture with the boys. They looked small. Like luncheon plates…not dinner plates. Is that to encourage the boys to eat less and save more leftovers for Mom and Dad?

Or make sure there is enough for everyone. Geez, guys that age usually put away a lot more food than what would fit on there.

I could smell the stink of that boiled Brussels sprouts!  I love them if they are roasted, not boiled!

My Mil, from Germany, used to make potato balls, served with gravy.  They were made from grated raw potatoes and mashed cooked potatoes and boiled to death.  They were very dense. I could never like them but my husband loved them.

That little bowl of canned pineapple for all those people!

My dad loved them boiled or roasted. Growing up, my mom never made them but when she ended up in the nursing home, it was easy for him to just boil them for himself. He didn't cook much.

Very little effort went in to creating that Easter Feast.  Unpeeled naked potatoes that look very dried out, Brussels sprouts that looks both over cooked on the outside and hard as rocks on the inside, Jill’s featured burnt ham that seems to be her signature dish, and an explosion of tinned pineapple.  Pineapple featuring as both a ham topping and as a separate side dish.  I get the feeling that Jill’s idea of cooking is to just shove everything into a baking dish, casserole dish or slow cooker, pressure cooker and just set and forget.  No herbs, spices seasonings or sauces.  No turning, basting or tending to the food.  The tinned pineapple is the most appetising thing there.

I made a Mississippi pot roast in the slow cooker so I can't fault on something easy but I would have done the sides differently.

Isn't Janessa 4? Why does she need a helper to search for eggs?

Because she is Jill's favorite amongst the younger kids, being a miracle and all.  This also just about guarantees she will gather the most eggs and 'win' the chocolate bunny that the other kids will watch her eat.

Since Janessa is the youngest child, and probably the last, she will be treated like a baby until she starts her period, at which time BME will start husband-shopping for her.

That meal looked disgusting. Burned ham, dry ass potatoes, brussel sprouts with no seasonings and whatever those monstrosities of a dessert are supposed to be.

I'm not surprised the malnourished big kids were excited for the jelly bean hunt. They probably hoard their find and pop them when their blood sugar gets low.

the meal was horrible looking but "Timothy brought her flowers because he is such a good son"

I swear while jill was caressing the flowers and saying that, Jonathan turned and smirked at timothy

"these days with my family are so special."   Lady when are you ever NOT with your family?    Your kids don't leave the house to go to school.   Your husband works from a room in the back.   You all travel together.    There is never any time you are not surrounded by family.

This was EXACTLY my reaction too, lol.

After seeing Jill’s Easter feast I have only 2 things to say:

1. Jill. Ham is not meant to be served charred. If it’s not link, you have gone too far. I know this and I hate ham.

2. After seeing this food I know why Jill’s kids are so skinny - nobody want’s to eat that crap!

I (sadly) watched her IG story...I know for sure I heard one or two Rodlets coughing in the background, and I swear right before the story cut out, one of the little girls said, "I'm cold."

And ewwww on the flowers from Timcel to BME.  Maybe that was the only way he'd be allowed out of the RV to partake in Jill's lovely Easter feast.

Did anyone parse out what those desserts were yet??

The plate of round things look like cake pops with out the stick and missing hunks of frosting.  No idea on the pie-shaped things.  And I would never taste them.  Personally, I don't do pot-luck meals, so there is no way I would ever eat anything served here.  The ham looks especially bad.

(I just cooked a port tenderloin in the Instant Pot, and it was great.  Moist and very good.  It it only had to cook for 3 minutes!)

my guess on the desserts is doughnut holes with frosting, made too thick, from confectioners sugar and water. The pie type things I think maybe cheesecakes(?) with what appears to be a bowl of sour cream next to it.

Both types of dessert seem to have been decorated with leftover easter egg dye and random glitter from kaylee and renee's earring making business.

Weren't the kids playing with colored sugar on the big table a while back? Some kind of kid art contest that Jill won? Maybe Jill swept up the sugar and used it on those pies.

Thin-skinned potatoes don't need to be peeled, but I cut out any eyes and blemishes. If they're large, I cut them to be roughly the same size. The same with Brussels sprouts. Trim and cut. I doubt Jill lifts a finger in the kitchen, but with so much obedient help, you'd think she'd have higher standards.

How much money did Jonathan spend for this dinner? I'm trying to gauge his willingness to support his in-laws' grift. I'm thinking he didn't shell out much for this meal.

Once again that’s not enough food for 10+ people! Did Jonathan buy the feast? (Of course he did). Why isn’t the HUNK cutting up/serving the meat?

Who was coughing in the background? COVID is in the Rod tin house?

HUNK don’t die Jill needs you!

He might have to burn a calorie or two cutting the meat, and we can't have that.  Too labor-intensive for GWE.

I want to add a few colors and make those pies REALLY gay. My guess is they’re sugar cream pies, something lusted after just to the west of Ohio and I have never understood it in my dismal years here in Indiana.
