oh I get that for sure - I'm actually 5'4 so I'm right on the cusp of petite/regular cuts, and I know lots of times things aren't as available in tall sizes.  There are some places that do have some great selection though for talls and petites both - depends on your style and whether you're willing/able to order sizes.  Skirts are the particular bane of my existence - I'm a runner so I have larger calves and unless my skirts are super short I tend to look stumpy.  Been very happy about the whole everybody-wears-boots-in-Chicago thing...makes it much easier to hide them ?

I wonder if Kelli is particularly tall?  I have an idea she's about 5'6 or 5'7, but that's just a guess.  I don't have her pretty legs but the bane of my existence getting dressed is similar to hers - I have to be really careful about the cut of my tops if I want to avoid looking pornographic.  My boyfriend likes it but I have to really watch it when I pick out my work clothes.

I'm 5'6 but I have very short limbs so I have short big/muscular legs (or as my high school bullies like to say "honey ham thighs").  Petites would be perfect for my leg length but too small for my waist/hip/size.  Sigh

yeah, that is super aggravating ?  jeans shopping in particular was always the worst.  I finally found some that worked well for me - if you get the chance, try the Joe's Jeans Honey curvy fit - they were always a really perfect fit, and super comfortable

this is by far the best thing I have read all day ?

not like super short, but just short enough to show off her legs, especially if she balances it with a body-skimming, silky top with longer sleeves.  I think given that she's in entertainment as well as business she has a lot more leeway there, especially if she was to pair it with a pretty tailored jacket.  I found her a dress in a cut and color she would absolutely rock - she could pair it with a white jacket and pretty earrings and call it a day.  I even went to Belk to find it for her.

I just turned 37, and my style is much softer than Kelli's (I never met a shade of soft muted blue I could walk away from, especially if it's silk - I would feel very self-conscious in some of the bright colors she loves), but I think she looks great.  I hate the idea that there are certain lengths or cuts or anything that would preclude someone from wearing something because of age - I know what you're getting at about things being age-appropriate but I already think Kelli does that.  I don't like the idea of anyone trying to appropriate a woman's body and telling her what to wear or not because it doesn't suit their prejudices (I know this is NOT what you were doing - I'm just metaphorically shaking my fist at the patriarchy lol).

Kelli's dress.jpg

This is an outfit that makes me dislike my DDD's...so darling but not big bust friendly! Agreed this type of styling (esp the skirt) would be cute on Kelli, particularly with a strap that accommodates a real bra. I've seen her do a one shoulder with her bustline, but those types of bras are for limited engagements ?

I like the color, too. My hair is similar to Kelli's and I can do orange. Green or eggplant would be better, but it's not a train wreck. Red tends to be my worst, but that's more from fair, pink skin than hair. Or maybe I'm good at lying to myself ?

hahaha I feel at least a third of your pain ?  that said, I have found that ballet style necklines are really nice - something about it balances out having a full bust.  Just as long as it's not also a blousy cut....I got a very pretty sweater like that and was happy because it was modest enough to be work-appropriate, but still pretty.  Unfortunately I didn't realize that looser cuts on tops with ballet necklines gape when you lean over....I found that out the hard way when I was still teaching English classes.  Apparently, I was giving students an eyeful all semester ?

I completely agree. I'm big busted and there's no way I could get away with spaghetti straps!  It's very hard to find tops that are flattering.  I understand why Kelly wears more clingy type clothing.  When you're big busted, loose & flow-y tends to translate in to looking 7 months pregnant in photos because your bust is making the bottom of your shirt or dress stick out.  So, you end up wearing more fitted styles to avoid the unintended preggo look.  It's hard to find tops that fit properly.  Forget about anything with buttons!!!

No more of the ridiculous fashion shows!  They are pointless and should not be a consiration when picking a cheerleading squad.  Show more dancing!

God, I couldn’t agree more.  How f#@&%* STOOPID is the Belk fashion show?  So if the TCC is given a bad outfit, that reflects on her chances to be a DCC???  Really?????

Well if you put it that way, sure. Because if she can't walk down a runway in a dress she hates with a smile and grace, how will she survive an appearance with a stinky, half drunk Cowboys fan that tattoos DCC on his arm and tells her he wants to marry her and impregnate her with the fruit from his loins?

These ladies have to put up with some foolishness, and I don't know how they even function with social media comments. Yikes.

Maybe Judy can for once be a little kinder.  She can't stand anyone and never has anything nice to say about anyone except her daughter, and if Cassie was not her daughter I shudder to think what Judy would have said about her.

Then again I think I am asking too much from her to actually be nice.

And babydoll dresses!  In the early nineties, I LOVED that look!  But since I was of the "busty, hourglass shape" variety they did make me look pregnant.  So I had to content myself with wearing that other early nineties staple:  the choker.

Chokers are back!  My almost 16 yr old wears between 1 and 5 every day. Claire's in the malls have them.

I asked my friend who owns her own clothing boutique why chokers were back in style and she goes "No idea, I don't even like them but so many people request them." I think they look hideous.

Plaid flannel shirts, brown lipstick, chokers, it's all back. I do wish flares would come back, but grateful the super low waists are gone.

Don't mock the plaid fannel LOL that's my go to outfit in the fall.

LOVE plaid flannel, especially oversized with skinny jeans & boots...throw on a nice necklace & earrings and it looks less 90s "grunge".  In or out, I will NEVER give up my Doc Martens :)

I do have to say I really enjoy this show.  Gotta admit I live a pretty isolated life and get depressed at times.  Having it on really kind of pulls me out of that (I know, pathetic!).  The show is about beautiful, talented and accomplished women trying to make the best of the best.   What's not to like?  I know when I have it on I won't have to hear about politics or negative news stories!  Please keep it going!

Not remotely pathetic!  Or maybe it is and I'm also pathetic, although my "feel better" show is *small voice* Baywatch.  I'd look at all those perfect bodies and think that mine could be almost as good if I worked hard at it...well, as good as it can be without daily 3 hour workouts & enhanced boobs :)

You are not pathetic.  I felt the same way when I discovered it.

I had a very stressful job at the time and couldn’t take the screaming/fighting/backstabbing of reality tv. It just stressed me out more.  When I found the show I loved it for it’s positivity.  I grew up in New York in the ’60’s and ’70’s.  Dance/cheer/pageant was unheard of where I lived and I was floored that I was seeing inside this world that was completely foreign to anything I had ever seen before.  I was hooked the first time I watched. I became obsessed.

The obsession has worn off but I still love it.

OK the snippet of learning the Halloween routine on the NBC 5 live facebook from Tuesday is EXACTLY what I want to see more of. No drama, nothing scripted, just the girls actually learning a routine, Judy giving good feedback, Jenn K & Jenna teaching, etc. None of the cutting every split second so you can't tell who is doing what. No fillers, no junk, just straight up dance.

so much this - it's awesome to be inspired, and there is nothing pathetic about that.

I agree but my heart sunk when Kelli said they will be joined by 180 other dancers.  It’s just too much.

I don't think the whole routine is the same as there are aspects that are fresh and they aren't crawling out on the field like before.  The music with the kettle drum beat is different

Same costumes I believe-red jacket and then they take it off and they are wearing the black boots

I feel like we all sound very mean, and I'd hate for Sam/friends to stumble in on this debate. Without a doubt Sam is adorable and a gorgeous young girl with the world at her feet. But. DCC ready? Nup.

I think Sleepyjean hit the nail absolutely on the head. If Sam truly wanted this for herself, she'd be on point already. I hope she doesn't do a half-assed tryout. That'd be painful to watch. I already feel for her that she's publicly expressed her DCC dreams and wish her a gracious path, whatever she decides to commit to.

(And I'd so love it if she comes out and kills it in the end!)

Maybe she wants to complete college first. I think in 4 years she'll have a more womanly look to her and who knows, she might be taking dance classes on the side.

You forgot clunky.

Instead of having Melissa Rycroft as a mentor, I wish they would pair an alum to certain TCC (who needed mentoring at least) that overcame similar scenarios as them, like how Jinelle and Yuko had a little session together last season. Bring in Sydney or Holly who auditioned young for those straight out of high school girls, use Kelli or Maddie next year for those who've audition before, etc. I'd rather catch up with alums and get to see more veterans that 20 minutes each episode with Melissa who's been far removed from the team for some time now.

I wish the show would show more than just the first pre game. I would love for them to document the whole season and show how vets who want to return prepare, or at least go into some regular season games. They did a few seasons ago and I loved it. And show the all stars, I think the whole all star thing is really cool maybe they should make an episode, or at least part of an episode about them.

I totally agree. Maybe do just an episode on auditions and a couple on TC, then move on to the season, USO tours, ect.

I love this idea. It would be great, and so many of the almni are still there in TX, even just pairing with a veteran who has had to fight through the same thing. I think I remember hearing somewhere that they do a Big Sister/Little Sister thing, I'd love to know more about that too.

Yeah I'd definitely like to see more of the vets preparing for auditions, they did some this season and I really appreciated it. Maybe show some prep classes or some of their off the field appearances. I'd love to see an episode that shows at least part of their big end of the year banquet with the awarding of the pinky rings and stuff

My apologies if this has already been suggested, as I'm still on noob status.

I think it would be nice if the first episode of the season was the calendar episode to get reacquainted with all the vets who have decided to reaudition, then move to auditions. I liked the extended season 7, but they had the swimsuit episode later in the series where they pretended they went in the fall, after football season started. They had to be very careful with editing to not show the 5 vets who were cut at finals. They messed up when in the beginning Kelli said they had 20 tickets, but later in the show someone said there were 25 girls in the fashion show. Putting that episode first would eliminate that. Then it would be more dramatic if a vet gets cut at finals.

I would like another extended season where they got to a special halftime game and then maybe an end of the season special.

To be honest about it, I was not impressed with the extra after the first game Season 7 episodes. They were much like the wash, rinse, repeat of the before the squad was announced scenes they show every season. The vets scenes were painful to watch because they seemed so scripted especially the one where they go bowling, and the veterans came in with their families, and the girls had squad photos ready to be autographed. Do they expect the girls to travel with squad photos in case someone wants an autograph. Plus the continued threats by Kelli and Judy aka yes you made the team, but we can still cut you been said over and over again. The drama of everything going wrong at the last minute crap, or Judy freaking out because of the many problems with a Show Group performance. UGH!!!

I would rather see what happens before tryouts start. The possible TCC candidates and veterans returning getting ready for tryouts. The prep work the DCC organization needs to do for tryouts and TC. The prep classes taught before tryouts and TC. I also would love to see what happens during the season. I know they showed the Breast Cancer Awareness practice, but I would love to see what happens if the team makes the playoffs, or what happens when the football season is over. I could miss the Swimsuit Calendar shoot because frankly it was too much of Julia Roberts from the movie Pretty Woman and the Victoria Secret specials combined into making the All American Girl look a little too trashy in my opinion.
