No they haven't. The IBLP seems to be trying to skew younger with speakers like David Waller. It was convenient that the FF got arrested and convicted during this phase.

A very, very quick scroll through the Family Conference IG...

The last time JB&M were speakers was in March of 2021. I believe this year Michaela Bates' husband spoke. Some guy named Caleb Reed seems to be a new consistent face, along with a handful of varying old white guys.

Pecan and Gill show up a couple of times on the IG in the years 2022/23.

I just finished a book about DV survivors. The story mentioned repeatedly about women wearing long sleeves and dark stockings (and make-up) to cover up bruises. I thought of Michelle. I mean, I know her dark stockings are probably support hose or an attempt to cover up varicose veins. But I thought  how JB holds on to her in every pic to show his ownership. I do believe Gothard probably thinks the all powerful husband has the right to beat his wife and his children. I hope JB doesn't "encourage" Michelle through violence. But they believe in blanket training babies, so these are not gentle, loving people!

Bringing this over from the Dillards topic. It refers to a meeting described in an excerpt from Jill's book published the other day in People magazine. In that meeting, with a moderator/mediator present, JB got angry, came out of his seat and stood over Jill while berating her.

I had that thought when JB behaved so arrogantly and inappropriately when on the witness stand in federal court, in a pretrial hearing in Josh's case.

He didn't like being shown the police report and asked about it, and said "I'm not going to allow it" and, turning to the judge, "Are you going to allow that?"

He was told by the judge that "if there is an objection to be made, someone will make it, but it won't be you." Heh.

I mean, who has the hubris to sit in federal court, sworn in as a witness, and act like HE's the one who's large and in charge? 

Someone who is very used to calling ALL the shots on the daily in their life, IMO. Lord knows what he gets up to and what kind of heavy handed control he exercises over people.

The same person who forced two of his daughters aka victims of his son to give an interview downplaying what happened to them and that their parents' did everything right and insisted in the same interview that he and Michelle did everything right in dealing with Josh when we know everything they did was wrong. Half of the outrage was at Josh and the other half was at JB and Michelle for doing nothing while four girls including three of their daughter's were molested and when they finally had to do something sent him to do construction or whatever for three months, put locks on the daughters' door, forced their daughters to forgive him and continued to cook and clean for him and took Josh to talk to a cop who later was convicted of the same thing Josh was would be convicted of years later. The same person or people who put their family on TV sprouting "Christian" values and holding up Josh as an example afterwards. The same man who brainwashes his kids that everything outside their bubble is evil. Any criticizm of him is just the evil media, Satan, etc. The same man who must control everything his kids do and don't do even after they are married. He thinks he's all that but he's really just a tiny, tiny pathetic man who can't handle being told he's wrong or not doing as he says.

You know, I always wondered, WHAT was the logic behind taking Josh to see THAT particular cop. I know that people who view CSA is larger than I would like to think, but I don’t think it’s common or typical. What about this man made JB think that he would have anything WISE to say to Josh to keep him from bringing shame upon the family??!!!

AFAIK, he was a buddy of JB's. I guess JB felt the guy would give FF a stern IBLP talking to. Coming from someone not directly involved with their insular church might have more of an impact than being talked to by Jim Holt. 

Of course, that guy had his own dirty secrets.

Yes I get that it was a “scared straight” attempt, but what are the statistical chances that this cop was a viewer of CSA and would end up convicted and sentenced just like Josh. Did JB and Michelle see similarities between this man and Josh, and thought this man had “over come” or “become sly”(let me vomit now) or was it a strange coincidence? Or they thought this man wouldn’t be horrified and tell them to seek professional help for their son like another person outside of IBLP would?

I believe he was still employed as a state trooper when JB hauled the FF in for their talk. He was busted after the fact.

Hmmm, the odds, IMO, were likely fair to middling. I don't think the Duggars, and more specifically JB, have friends of high caliber. I don't think JB knew the cop was a bad guy though.

Yes, I am aware he was busted after the fact (several years later). But this man they took to Josh to be “scared straight” was the same type of criminal Josh grew up to be. What are the chances? Did they KNOW or strongly suspect this man and their son had anything in common? Was it just a strange happen stance? Hindsight being 20/20.

I go back and forth on whether JB knew his friend CSA or not. The odds out of all the cops on the force at the time he took Josh to one who was into CSA. It's entirely possible he didn't know. But JB has surrounded him by so many terrible people. Josh tried to blame it on a friend and employee who sexually assulted a minor, the head of their organization sexually harassed women and minors, which no one cared about until he became a liability, Jill's incompetent midwife Theresa who lost her license because a baby died, I can't remember if it was her or another incompetent midwife's husband was an addict or something else. Erin Bates' sister-in-law was arranged to marry a convicted rapist, I'm probably forgetting others. But there's been a lot of shady people around the family so did he really not know about his friend?

It was Teresa's husband who was the pill addict. He lost his medical license because of it. The Fedoskys were tight with JB/Meech. 

But I was thinking the same thing today. JB surrounds himself with sketchy yes men.

It seems everyone in the Duggar circle is involved in some kind of scandal, big or small, including the Holts and IIRC the guy who wrote some money budget book.

No, it was the SOS missionary guy (name forgotten, Mike Schadt?) who married Ben and Jessa. Of course, we saw how sketchy his operation was when Jill and Derick went down to work for him.

I'm putting this here because it's about JB in general, not limited to Jill. We know that he did Jill a bad turn re taxes and money, and I think he did it to all the kids, so it's more about him than about Jill. The deets about Jill are discussed in the Jill/Derick topic.

I have now found a few clues in Jill's book, that support my belief that JB pulled the same tax trick on all the kids as he did with Jill, i.e., through the CPA, filing income tax returns showing the individual had received $X income, which was never actually paid to that person.

After much dispute and unpleasantness from JB, Jill and Derick finally got a copy of the contract documents that she had signed the day before her wedding. She said this, mentioning what the "Compensation" section of the contract contained:

It stated that for each half hour episode, Mad Family Inc. would be paid $50,000, and for each one-hour episode $65,000, with the numbers rising to $58,000 and $73,000 if the show hit a fourth season.

Pops later determined somehow that each child would receive 3 percent on their tax return each year. However, even this was a phantom payment, seemingly just reported on paper for tax purposes with no apparent intention to actually pay out this amount. We would later be told that this previously reported income was an investment or inheritance that we could only have access to upon my parents’ death.

Also, she quoted JB's nasty itemization of what he'd spent on Jill, that he sent them when they were pushing to get copies of the contract and other relevant documents. I found it so distasteful that I skimmed it. But I read it again. Someone has posted a screenshot of it, either in the Jill/Derick topic or the TLC/media one, I don't remember, sorry.

Before he lays out the numbers, JB says:

This confirms what many of us speculated was the reason for all the LLC’s. Moving income around but no cash ever went to anyone but JBoob. Very shifty CPA to assist/facilitate and my guess is tax returns were signed by kids who had no clue. Except to bow down to the patriarch without question. Disgusting. The CPA should be reported to the IRS and state licensing board (not sure what it’s called in Arkansas)

I wish the IRS would also investigate JB but that will probably never happen.

If I were one of JB's kids still dependent on him for my job and shelter (what a horrible thought), I think I would really start to worry.  The gravy train may be stopping soon, especially if the IRS should decide to look into things.  We're talking taxes of 19 people knowingly being filed incorrectly for years.  No education, no savings, no income except that which is provided by JB (if you toe the line), and possible questions from the IRS.  Even the sons in real estate and construction still have daddy's involvement. What a mess JB has created for his children just to amass property and money.

Good lord, Jana could very possibly have 15 years of fraudulent tax filings lurking behind her. On the other hand, if the empire folds, it's only Jill and Derrick, Jinger and Jeremy, Joy and Austin and Justin and Claire who aren't totally screwed, right? Are there any other kids who don't work for Daddy, at least indirectly?
