I have probably seen her episode at least five times but feel compelled to watch every time it re-airs.   She is that train wreck that you shouldn't stare at but you just have to.  I wonder how Liam is doing these days.  Poor child..stuck with that dreadful mother.

I've been watching re-runs on Hulu and before I got Hulu, I paid for a number of episodes on amazon. I can.not watch Penny. I can watch James K all day and Robert half the day, but Penny makes me angry and nuts at the same time.

I miss you guys. When is the show coming back? Surely there are some poundees who wound up on the cutting room floor that they can show during COVID?

It was Joe Wexler, the one who moved to Houston from Tennessee, then where his girlfriend Sarah lived, and he lived with her, her mother (in the mother's house), and his fiance/wife's little girl by some long departed man.    Girlfriend was also pregnant at the wedding, but the baby wasn't his.   That baby didn't live.

That was the wedding where his mother who supported him for years, was told he couldn't afford to bring her to the wedding, or even pick her up at the airport.   Some relative came with the mother.

Then not too much later, the couple divorced, and he moved back to Tennessee.     I think he had a Gofundme for the wedding, and maybe something else later, like moving back to Tennessee.    But he moved back to Tennessee, had a great job, and bought a house.   Also, a new girlfriend.    He said he did start cheating on his eating program, but did get back on track.

I ran across something, and it said that Angie G. is thinking about becoming the 11th poundticipant to join the lawsuit against the producers.

He's not alone in doing a Gofundme, a large number of other poundticipants have done them also.

Apparently Samantha (the Season 9 premiere episode on Wednesday) is one that was in the intro at the front of the episodes in Season 8.    So apparently her episode was filmed for last season, and was moved to this January.

The producers have moved episodes to the next season before.

Spoiler

I know some of the WATN's moved from one year to the next year, so the Assante final episode (please let it be the final one ever) was filmed about two years before it aired.

I have missed my Wed night peeps, but thanks to @CrazyInAlabama  I know there will be a show Wed night.  Thank heavens I did the live chat for the 90 day show or I might have missed it.   After reading that, I had a dream about Dr Now;  he had come in my back door and was looking at my veggie garden (that I do not have).  Anyway, he was not there as a bariatric doc but he was my pulmonary specialist.

I am stuffed tonight.  We had one of my favorite meals---bbq chicken, mashed potatoes, and asparagus.  I am drinking eggnog liberally laced with bourbon for dessert while Mr TWopper finishes off the banana pudding I made yesterday.  At least I think it was yesterday as I have lost track of time due to COVID and the holidays.

We used to get to plan our meals in grade school two or three times a year.  We almost always chose the bbq chicken, mashed potatoes, and peas or beans.  All the meals came with the best homemade --or rather school made--rolls.   This was years before the food pyramid.  It was a meat or fish with 2 veggies if I recall correctly.    I still use that as a guide.

Bless you for getting this right.   If it is not made in a home, it is not "homemade", and restaurants who advertise "homemade" food make me stabby.  At best, it is "made from scratch" or "made in house".

I watched a rerun of Joe, from 2016, and noticed that at this time, Dr. Now didn't have the large double-sized chair in the consulting room yet.
At almost 800 lbs, Joe was sitting on one the regular chairs.

Mr TWoPPER is temporarily using a walker  so I have been able to accompany him to dr appts recently that I normally would not have gone to with him.  There are several oversized chairs in the waiting room at the ophthalmologist now which weren't there a few years ago when I went with him due to an eye infection.   I haven't noticed them at his regular doctor.  The dermatologist has regular chairs but they are on the roomy side, and the dentist just has living room type furniture  including a love seat which would probably not hold an 800 pounder but would be okay for maybe 600.

What is the top weight of the heaviest Male and Female Poundticipants?

I guess Sean after he came to the first appointment at 919 lbs. and his mother fed him up to 1,003 or so by second appointment.

For the women so far: Roshonda Perrio (Family show) was about 800, and Teretha about the same, and Marla about 800.   I guess they couldn't really weight the three top weights so far.   This is off of the Wikipedia page on 600 lbs, so the accuracy isn't always there.

So Samantha at 900+ (was her top weight 970?), now weighed more than any other woman on the show previously.

Since Samantha's episode was a left over from last season, then I'm betting there are a few more that were in progress for last season (season 8), that we'll see this season.    I'm wondering what will happen after that, because of lockdowns?

I wouldn't be surprised if Dr. Now only does the appointments for the show, and I bet his surgery is with others doing the surgery under his supervision.     He's over 70, and especially during the pandemic, I bet he's almost retired, except for the show.      I think he has several doctors that work for him, and do the actual work.      I would be terrified for him if he was actually working around the clock doing surgeries, especially with people who are so unhealthy, like the poundticipants.

After last weeks train wreck with Samantha, I'm hoping Thederick is a total success, and does so well.

Today, they're rerunning Gina (of the naughty videos) from 3 to 5 pm Central, followed by Samantha (of the naughty videos, but not as bad as Gina's videos) from 5 to 7 pm Central.

Taking this over from the episode thread.  There are medical reasons to ask people to do a liquid diet prior to the surgery.  It may reduce the size of the liver if the person has a fatty liver (which is common among super obese people).  That allows more space in the abdomen for the surgeon to maneuver.  It also helps clear the amount of material in the digestive track.  While it does show that they are willing to adhere to a protocol, there are these reasons for it that are more about surgical preparation.  Dr. Now did not used to demand that people lose XX pounds prior to surgery. That came about during the show.  I am sure there are some programs that like to see that people can lose some weight.  It is, however, a major change in Dr. Now's protocol that I feel happened because the show felt it led to more drama.

So glad that we are going to have another season.  I kept thinking around New YEar's that I should check to see if there is a new season and of course I forgot, but I haven't had time anyway while visiting Mom.  I am back at home now, so I plan on catching up with the episodes I missed and re-joining live chats on Wednesday.  Some semblance of normalcy! 🙂

I'm loving TLC showing reruns during the day. I enjoy watching snippets as I indulge in my afternoon salad. Today I had the ultimate pleasure of listening to Penny declare that she had to have lost weight because she can now reach her vagina and clean it herself! 🤮 Salad time will never be the same again.

At least I'd try to be more interesting. I'm always taken aback by the scenes they always have of enablers/family watching them eat. At least with me you could find some long lost scroll in my butt crack.

If you could add some purse tacos and potato chip bags in your folds, we would have a trifecta.  We'll all chip in on quality tupperware for you to bath in and use as a toilet. Only the best for you! No cheap plastic bins. 🙂

Are you trying to get your bingo card full? Laughing, only the best plastic bins.

How about if I add an "owe, my leg?"

I realize I wrote then in English and not poundicipent speak.

I'm beginning to wonder whether they are pre-screening for applicants who they know won't go through with the surgery.  In Arizona, only emergency surgeries are being performed at this time.  At our hospitals, NO surgeries are being performed if they can be postponed.  You can barely be admitted unless you're actively having a heart attack.

I just started a thread for her.  I agree that it's easier for those of us who don't get to join live chat to discuss episodes in these separate threads.  Besides, Live Chat is sometimes locked.!

Thanks. I wanted to join live chat last evening. But. I've switched from cable TV to YouTube TV, which does include TLC. But for some reason the live stream I was seeing on YTTV, wasn't the new Melissa M. episode. (It was scheduled to begin in the next upcoming time slot.) I'm going to check my YTTV settings next week to see if something is wrong and I'm getting TLC shows on some oddball timing. Sigh.

Thank you.  I like to read the live chat thread, but I don't know how those folks can watch and type at the same time!

The watching, and typing issue is why I miss so much sometimes.

I try to watch, then type during commercials.  Doesn't always work so well.

I see tonight there is a one hour program about Justin the 685 pound teen.  I am sure it is  the same guy that Dr Now had as a patient a couple of seasons ago.   He wanted a career as a singer.   I hope this has new material, and it isn't a total rehash.

I usually mostly read/type and listen to the show, only look up at the TV when something interesting is happening. 🙂  Though I usually watch TV in this mostly-listen mode as I also read or play a game or eat or cook... it's not often that something is gripping enough that I avoid distractions instead of needing them so I don't get completely bored.

So many say we need a vomit emoji.  I want a "WHA....?" emoji expressing awe and envy.

I recently heard someone say in an interview her family had decided in the last year to only watch programs with subtitles.  Why? you ask.  So they would be forced to actually focus on what they were watching, rather than multi-tasking.  That's one of the reasons I am becoming so annoyed with Unexpected; they need subtitles so viewers can understand the mush mouth teens who are speaking English, their mother tongue.  And I can't be bothered to look at the screen.

As far as I've been able to determine, Kenae's episode was the last left over from last year, when filming was shut down by Covid.   Next week's new poundticipant, Krystal, is the real first episode for this season (season 9).
