This show is my guilty pleasure. It was fast, but I think I saw Lola fly by with Flashdance hair.

Usually I have issues with Lola, but I did like her hair in the video clip.

I cannot wait for the new season to start.

Susan's story was on again tonight. Made me realize again just how starved for physical affection most of these people are. Like when the hairdresser was touching Susan's head, Susan looked ecstatic. She was eating it up. She just couldn't stop smiling.

I think she would have sat in that chair all day had she been allowed.

It's very sad.

I found when I was over 600 lbs. that even when people did touch me, I couldn’t feel it. I was so numbed by food and my skin was so stretched. People rarely touched me unless they had to. It’s hard to explain but if your skin is stretched to twice it’s size, things like hair follicles are farther apart. I suspect nerves are too. Now I can feel the lightest touch. It must be like someone hearing for the first time in a long time. The sensation can be overwhelming or overstimulating.

I noticed the previews for the show's return, but I didn't see Dr. Now in any of the previews. I wondered if he's still practicing, since it looked like he was grooming a possible replacement last season.

Episode 2 is available now on TLC Go and he’s in there, no sign of the other guy.

I'm hoping that Dr. Now has other partners working with him, so he's only doing some of the office and hospital visits, and not all of the surgery.      Vascular surgery for the big skin removals is many hours long, and that's too much for one person.      He deserves to be able to oversee treatments, and run the program, and still have time for himself.    I'm hoping there are others that work with him, and take a lot of the load off of him.

This is the episode listed on Titan TV, for 1/2/2019, as Season 7 episode 1.   Octavia-After being bed bound for a year, Octavia must take it upon herself to change her eating habits and unhealthy lifestyle by traveling to Houston to seek Dr. Now's help, but she must ignore her best friend who is also her worst enabler.

I wish that whoever at TLC does the scheduling, and announcements of show would get their act together.      It really looks like amateur hour at that network.

Pounders,

Season 7, episode 2 Brianne's Story is available through the TLC site.  We have a thread open for that episode.  If you want to discuss Brianne, please head there.  Since the episode has not yet aired on broadcast TV, any info on it is a spoiler.

Next Wednesday they will be showing S7/E1 Octavia's Story.  On many channel listings this episode is misnumbered and may or may not show as new.  We will create threads for this when we get closer to the date.  Check your DVRs, and prepare to join us for the live chat and the after chat.

Only episode 2, Briana’s story. TLC Go apparently does preview eps of upcoming seasons, I saw a commercial for Dr Pimple Popper, whose new season starts soon too, saying one episode of that is also is available on TLC Go.

Thanks for posting this. I found it very educational. I do wonder what LB's weight was when he died. I don't think he was still super morbidly obese.

'My 600-lb life' star Lisa Fleming Dead at 50

Lisa was featured on Season 6 back in February. She revealed her struggle with weight began as a child and it got significantly worse after she witnessed her brother's murder.

Lisa's episode was heart-wrenching ... her situation was so desperate she found maggots in the folds of her skin.

When Lisa was on the show she was bedridden and unable to care for herself. Life was so cumbersome, 7 paramedics were required to remove her from her bed.

Thanks for posting. I followed her for a bit earlier this year (I think I must have been a mortician in a past life. I find this to be interesting and it doesn't bother me at all.).

He started at 642 pounds and trimmed off a whopping 316 pounds, but kept shedding the weight even after filming the show.

L.B. had posted a cryptic message  on Facebook saying, "I just want to say thank you to everyone who has shown me love and support throughout my journey...I've realized a few things over the last few days and its time that, I face my demons head on."

He went on to say, "No matter what you change or the efforts you put forth in life, sometimes you just have to take it on the chin and deal with things your own way...Again, thank y'all so much... Please don't ever let people you care about not know how you feel."

So, I often listen to this show on amazon prime at work (don't ask...). Today I was listening to Chad's story and decided to see if I could find out what has happened to him. Well, our guy has written a book that is coming out mid-January. He has a FB page under 'Chad Dean, author.'  Ayesha looks wonderful in a nice dress; so much happier and better dressed than on the show. I'm so happy for this guy.

YES! Already in the first 5 seconds you hear "I'm so scared"! Then a 5 gallon tub of ice cream and a cheese dog being in haled, doctor Now reading the riot act, someone falling out of a car...and a few OOOWWWWWWW and a lot of crying. I can;t wait!

Lord help me, if I were still Catholic, I'd have to say a ton of Hail Marys in penance for loving this stuff so much.

We're going to leave ice cream out of the discussion, though. People have to eat.

I'm very excited, as I'm fairly new to this show, and this will be the first time I can participate in the live chat.

Off topic a bit, but:

✓ Anyone seen a show called something like "Half-ton family?" Is it worth watching?

✓ Did anyone watch "Extreme Love?" I don't see a thread for it, but it was kind of awful, so I don't know if I'll continue watching it. The "feeder couple" was interesting though, in that their goal was for her to get so big (she was already over 700 lbs) that she would become immobile. How bizarre to me, I can't fathom the reasoning. But explains something I've wondered, which is how a person can keep eating to the point they become bed-bound. And keep eating to stay  bed-bound. It is a fetish to some.

Yes.  At least the show last year was.  I liked the people a lot, and was hoping they'd bring the same family  back, especially Drew, for skin surgery.
The family mostly worked, and seemed better off financially than most of the 600 lbers.
They lived in nicer homes, and weren't people you could imagine not using sheets.  Ever.

The are going to have the Dr. Now version of Family by the Ton, season 2 with another family.   However, I've also read on Starcasm (I know, not a decent source) that there will be an unpdate on the Family by the Ton family season 1, and I hope that's true.

I liked them too. The girl who was bed ridden for 2+ years (if I remember correctly) was stunning, even though she hadn't gotten out of bed in so long! Very attractive family, despite the extreme weight. And her house was immaculate and beautiful too. I was never certain how she kept/maintained such a nice house when she wasn't working but I imagine their family might have come from money or something.

I thought the Dr. Now version, was the 3 siblings at the beginning of last season.  That wasn't Family by the Ton.

Alicia (and boyfriend Tim) is was season 6 episode 3.       I didn't really remember this either, until they mentioned Tim had an addiction problem before.     They've been rerunning some classic ones today, and they say new, so they apparently added previews added.  The actual premier of season 7 starts at 7 central/8 eastern.      For some reason, I didn't recognize this one either, maybe because it was so early in season 6.   And there's a live chat listed, so get the food habit ready to go, for the proper watching, chatting experience.     I'm hoping for some great success stories this season.

Why was this entitled "Countdown to the New Season?" It was literally a two hour repeat from another season. I have seen this one a couple times already. I was hoping it would be a follow up to where she is now, but it was just the entire episode all over again. ?

I too had forgotten Alicia, until she started talking about her mother.
TLC did the same thing with the Countdown to the New Season for My Big Fat..., lows from last season with a new date.

To go to Family by the Ton, go to the F shows section of the forum, click on Other F Shows, right under the letter F, then go to Family by the Ton.

I really worry about Octavia's long term success.   I can easily see her having initial success, and then 'going her own way', as so many others have done.

I've stopped watching the Supersize episodes, because the tidbits they put on that are boring as hell.

I'm glad to see this show back though.    I know most won't do well long term, but then there are people like Diana that do so well I have to cheer for them.

If you get to the "F" list, "Other F Shows" should be at the top of the list.  Click on that.  "Family by the Ton" is the first thread on that new page.

Chad Dean is going to be on the Today Show shortly to talk about his 400 pound weight loss.

I saw him on the Today Show this morning and came here to see if anyone was talking about it. He looked pretty good--says he is down 400 pounds--and says he is happy. His wife was with him. It was a nice segment.

I'm just going to complain a little here. I'm watching Ashley D's show (home waiting for snowmageddon). As usual, she says no other doctor will help her. What does she, or any of these other obesees think he is going to do - give them the surgery when they walk in the door? I remember Janine's intro story where she finds out she's 400 lbs or so and says, "What do we do now?"  What 'we'?  This is on you, girlfriend. The show's been on for awhile, everybody has to lose weight - he may specialize in larger people, but he's not looking for a patient death - if you are 650-750 lbs, you are going to have to diet before the operation.

Why do you have to go to Houston to do that? Find a bariatric specialist in your area, work on an eating program, a lot of hospitals have them, and drop 100 lbs before you get in that van to Houston.

I think a lot of these people don't even want to try. Many say they've never dieted before. So you've gained weight continuously over the years and never once did you tell yourself you need to rethink your eating?  I've seen tons (no pun intended) of people on reddit and YT who were 400 & 500 lbs and they work hard to lose the weight right where they are. You have to start and you have to put in the effort. I have to tell this to myself right now, so I'm not just being mean, I just don't understand how nothing ever worked before for these people, and suddenly Dr. Now gives them a 1200 calorie, low carb diet and they lose 30 lbs in a munt. It must be a miracle.

There is no reason for a potential patient to show up at Dr. Now's office thinking they're getting surgery on day one, and not having dieted first according to the easily accessible 1200 calorie diet plan that's available.      The weight loss is to shrink to liver, and make surgery easier, so showing up and not losing weight before surgery will make the length of surgery longer, and harder for the surgeons.

A friend had the WLS with the open incision, and he had to lose quite a bit of weight before surgery, I think on a liquid diet.    They also removed his gall bladder at the same time, so at least that's on complication he didn't have after surgery.     Because of the open incision it was also easier to do both procedures, and the gastric bypass he had was quicker too, because there was more access.      I don't think the doctor still does the more radical surgery, but the gastric sleeve mostly.     My friend lost down to his target weight, but then started regaining through eating things he shouldn't, eating many small high calorie meals, and eating late at night.      Last I heard he had regained a lot of weight.
