SimoneS November 14, 2014 Share November 14, 2014 (edited) First interesting episode this season. Talk about a stakeout gone wrong. Poor Javy. See Huck, this is why you should only visit with your son in appropriate settings. Rowan's final speech was as pathetic as every speech he has ever had on the show. I cannot believe that Olivia sat there with tears in her eyes listening to that bullshit when she should have been telling him to fuck off. I love Joe Morgan, but I am glad that Rowan and his annoying egotistical speeches are gone. Andrew playing Mellie. Ha. Edited November 14, 2014 by SimoneS 5 Link to comment

The scenery chewing, the monologues, the icky references to his daughter's sexual prowess. I just can't with him. Simone: the reason a Olivia didn't call Cyrus out is because, with the exception of chicken-fried Mellie these characters have a such profound lack of self-awareness I'm amazed they were able to graduate elementary school, let alone obtain high powered jobs. Guest Accused Dingo November 14, 2014 Share November 14, 2014 (edited) This show is what it is and if you don't expect it to be anything else, it is a highly enjoyable show. I loved the ending with Rowan and his "I am Command" speech. You think the world is such a terrible place with me in it? Wait until you see what its like without me. That is quite chilling and the kind of speech I like from the show. I enjoyed the dick waving and pissing contest that went on between Jake and Fitz in the bunker. I just don't understand what Olivia sees in either of them. She is a boss and these two are two year olds trying to prove who has a bigger winkie. I can't help it Cyrus is my favorite character and I felt a little bad for him during the episode. I loved the scene when he spoke to Olivia about friendship and later when she told him not to go to Michael's house (which he paid for) and he said it was a good idea because if he did he'd probably kill Michael and that would make both their jobs harder. Say what you will about either Cyrus or Olivia but their friendship is probably one of the best things about the show. Poor Millie even her mistress (Mister?) cheats on her. Wait so what is Lizzie up too....is it just about sex or is power in play too. Being tied to the VP and a power play? "I am the Shiny object." That is Olivia in a nutshell. Over the top gay sex scene.....that's why I show up. Really that's not a joke. I approve. Angry sex its not just for straight people anymore. Rosen you have got to stop with the moral integrity crap. It gets you nowhere. Well there goes Huck and Javi's play time Oh and Mellie. Maybe you should try having an affair with Olivia. Why not. Everyone else is. And you might have more luck with the ladies anyway. You have no luck at all with men. Edited November 14, 2014 by Accused Dingo 9 Link to comment
Tetraneutron November 14, 2014 Share November 14, 2014 Olivia should have stabbed her father, just to shut him the fuck up. To just sit there and let him ramble on and on while she's working the watery eyes and wobbly lip again? Feh. Stab him, then fix it. It's what you do, lady. I have to ask - what in God's name is Eli's problem? He goes to absurd lengths, runs a covert ops, basically terrorist organization, kills children jest to win elections, is the evilest evil that ever eviled (and on this show that's really saying something), just because he doesn't approve of his daughter's boyfriends? And what's wrong with them? Sure, there was that big "You are a boy" speech last year where we learn he hates Fitz because Fitz isn't a self-made man and is married, but then what's his problem with Jake? Jake's a self-made man. He's single. Jake has the exact same job as Eli, even. If it bothers you that much, Eli, get Olivia an eHarmony account and stop undermining democracy. Also, it's starting to really come off as sexist. He loses all credibility when he doesn't trust his brilliant, accomplished, powerful daughter, who can get any legislation passed at will and can write her own ticket, to run her own life and make her own decisions. He should leave and let Olivia go back to choosing which guy will be her boyfriend. The murderer or the other murderer. 13 Link to comment
Happytobehere November 14, 2014 Share November 14, 2014 (edited) I guess when the truth comes out about her boyfriend we will be in for another round of drunk, smelly Mellie or will somehow be Fitz and Olivia's fault that she continues to suck at life choices. I hate Fitz. I would actually love Rowan if he managed to take Mr. Privilege out as his last act. Loved Jake's verbal bitch-slap of the one Rowan tightly pegged as a boy. Let him know that you are Captain Jake Ballard and you have not and will not forget the low-life coward Fitz revealed himself to be. Olivia said that the sun is just for her and Jake. So Fitz hasn't won just yet. Javi seeing who his dad is was heart-breaking. You mean to tell me that neither super-spy noticed they were blown (yeah TNT, you still get the FU for canceling Leverage). Cyrus is vile on so many levels. Liv, if you think that's a friend, you are even more blinded and lost tha Rowan thinks. Edited November 14, 2014 by Happytobehere 3 Link to comment

Blakeston November 14, 2014 Share November 14, 2014 I actually laughed out loud when Cyrus said he compromised his integrity..... The idea that he thinks he has any integrity to compromise is beyond laughable. The only way I can make sense of that line is that for Cyrus, integrity = getting your job done and supporting your candidate/party, no matter what. He knows it was hugely unethical to have Amanda Tanner killed, and to rig an election, etc. etc. - but he doesn't view them as lapses of integrity, because he did those things for the greater good. Whereas with the prostitute, Cyrus wasn't helping Fitz, and he has no "good of the country" excuse to fall back on. He was leaving the administration at risk solely so that he could have the companionship of a hot man. By all means, though, Olivia should have called him out just for using the word "integrity." But as we've seen over and over again this season, Olivia's ability to argue with people tends to disappear completely. I swear Olivia could lose an argument with a 4-year-old. The kid would say she has cooties, and she would just sit there looking stunned, holding back tears, and quivering. 8 Link to comment

Olivia was a moron. I can't take the whole Jake's a good guy he stands in the sun crap, especially when he's putting on a show to David. lunastartron November 14, 2014 Share November 14, 2014 So I tuned out for a couple of weeks and returned only to find that the characters on this show are even more despicable yet. Capitalizing on your son's death to literally torture your sexual rivals, it seems, is not the basement for moral hypocrisy on this series. Olivia is every bit as vile as Fitz. She's fully aware of the bizarre Guantanamo-as-a-proxy-for-penis-measuring gambit the President's got going on, and she's effectively tacitly condoning it. "We don't live in the darkness, we live in the sun," where she rigs elections and covers up the murder of feeble old ladies on their deathbeds. Olivia to Portia de Rossi, "I don't like you because . . . you LIE!" You know, about two minutes before she betrays the ethics of the client-attorney relationship to run interference for Cyrus. The only plus was that Cyrus, for once, did not bull-china shop his way into a pissing contest of angsty oneupsmanship, like when he felt compelled to whine to Fitz about how his sexuality precluded him from becoming President himself or when he made Mellie's grief all about how no one was paying adequate attention to him. I know Joe Morton is a laureled actor, but, wow, he is just so consistently terrible in this, though, in all fairness, I've yet to see an actor not sink like a stone under Shonda's writing. 3 Link to comment

Eolivet November 14, 2014 Share November 14, 2014 Wow, who knew I'd grow to hate "in the sun" as much as I hate "Vermont." In terms of tortured relationship analogies, Charlie has stripped the sun and Vermont both naked, duct-taped their mouths, wrapped them in plastic and is working on them with a power drill. I did enjoy Rowan saying Olivia had been "blinded" by the sun. The sun is not "the light" -- it's far more powerful and potent, and it can hurt you if you look at it too long. And now I'm thinking how odd it is the Olivia and Fitz's theme is "The Light." White hat, light, sun, darkness, black -- and all the meanings of those words. For a show that is so completely about shades of gray, they do love to paint themselves in moral absolutes. 3 Link to comment
SimoneS November 14, 2014 Share November 14, 2014 Except Olivia is not blinded by Fitz or even Jake. If anyone is blinded it is Rowan who is unable to comprehend that his daughter is a grown woman who must make her own choices even if they are huge mistakes. Besides, having controlling manipulative ass wipe like Rowan for a father explains Olivia's attraction to Fitz. Rowan wants to own and control Olivia as much as or even more than Fitz does. Olivia has the same tug of war relationship with both men. For now she has escaped Rowan's grasp, but he is addicted to his need to control her so he won't stay out of her life for very long. 1 Link to comment
PrincessTT November 14, 2014 Share November 14, 2014 As soon as Olivia made the phone call to Rowan I knew he would figure out it was a set-up... An emotional phone-call totally outside of the usual dynamics of their relationship was always going to rouse his suspicions, plus she made the mistake of letting on that she had been with Fitz and Jake together. Given what happened with Tom you'd think that they would realise that there are B613 agents everywhere. It wouldn't surprise me if one of the people moving the files was B613. Link to comment

I do like how they mentioned Ella and how Ella freaks out with Cyrus because he's a stranger because obvs.. He's too busy doing other stuff than bonding with his child. Like his male Julia Roberts. Olivia is beyondest of the stupid. If Jake is in SuperMax, she's not really allowed to see him at all, right? which means that she had to get special permission to go see him in the first place. If they are both fighting over Olivia at the same time, this means it's obvious that the special permission came from Fitz, and they were there together. Which means if both were there and she were there, other than fighting , they had to be doing other things together. Dumbass. wait that made it sound dirty. but i didn't because I am so over their relationship. Shonda is a lazy lazy writer. she just has everyone say "In the sun!" (or "Hope!" or " Vermont with Jam!" and that's 1/2 her work done). Huckleberry Quinn: whatever. Huck as damaged as you are, the hell? bringing Javi to your job? whatever. MsC November 14, 2014 Share November 14, 2014 What the shit was that!? Did Papa Pope use cheat codes or something to get away with what he just did!? That's the only explanation! Daddy Pope was and is the head of the USA's MI6/KGB super secret spy organization. He's got operatives everywhere and a personal army. The show actually spent quite a bit of time establishing this in earlier seasons. Which is why it makes the Wonder Triplets even dumber than usual to think they could pull this off. I realize this is TV so sometimes realism doesn't apply - but how many people are invested in B613 and Rowan? How many other guys, strategically placed in powerful positions, could be hurt by what was in Jake's files? It's not like they can really take down Papa Pope without collateral damage. gazebo November 14, 2014 Share November 14, 2014 Well, that was the first gay hate/sex I've ever seen on TV! Wow! I thought Cyrus was going to kill Michael and then get Olivia to get rid of the body! I am unhappy with the way how Rowan left. He's like some evil god you can't defeat no matter what you do. Maybe Jake was right, just go and shoot him in the head! I was so angry that Olivia just sat there and let Rowan justify himself for all the evil deeds that he's done is because he wanted to protect Olivia. It was an impressive speech but I found myself just rolling my eyes. Yeah, sure, without Olivia's big strong bad daddy, she won't be able to survive relationships with men! Rowan reduced Olivia into a child by saying all this bullshit, he doesn't seem to realize that Olivia is a grown, intelligent woman capable of making her own choices. When Rowan left the restaurant and got into his car, I was so hoping that the sniper on the roof would shoot him and take him out! Now Mellie wants to be just like her husband. She wants to be President, make decisions and have a nice piece on the side! I almost felt sorry for Mellie when it was revealed that the VP also had someone on the side too. I think when Mellie finds out she will be devastated but it won't stop her wanting to grab for power. Oh Huck! How can you be so foolish as to take your young son to a stake-out! I felt bad at how traumatized Javie looked when he saw the dead, bloody body flop out from the window of the van and onto the ground. Not a good time to bond with your son, Huck! Link to comment

They've both torpedoed their lives for her. They sacrifice everythint they have. Fitz attempted suicide when he thought Liv was gone. They defer to her on important decisions. They do what Liv tells them, even when it runs counter to their own interests or goals. And even if they do leave her, Olivia can go back to being one of the most powerful people in Washington, getting the President elected and getting whatever legislation she wants passed. What would make Rowan happy? What boyfriend or career could Olivia have that would satisfy him? For that matter, what are HIS goals? He wants to be the ultimate power, sure, but to do what with it? To be what? It's not about "protecting the Republic", not given the insane decisions he's made. Not given he gave his daughter the President she wanted, like he was buying her a pony. And killed a teenager to do it. The monologues are great and all, but it's getting to a Lex Luthor place, where he's a supervillain for the sake of being a supervillain.
