S07.E05: Some Strange Eruption

Recommended Posts

Yeah just shoot her Juice and run far, far away. You are a dead man anyway if Jax ever finds you.

Seriously right now this show is just a flimsy excuse for Jax to kill anyone that opposes him.

I am continuously amazed by the repeated "shock" of the people on this show at others dying. "Oh my god.....how could this happen, who would have guessed!" Uh, anyone that has had anything to do with this group for 5 minutes and sees people associated with them killed every week for the past 5 years.

This last season is becoming "How I met your mother" bad. Except this time I fully expect eveyrone to die and I won't be all that upset about it.

  • Love 4

Gemma dying this way, without having to answer for all the deaths her machinations have caused, not to mention her direct involvement in Tara's murder, would be wholely unsatisfying. At this point, the piling up of bodies due to lies and/or misunderstandings is so ludicrous that I actually laughed out loud at juice killing the manager. (Oh, and I'm pretty sure both Nero and Unser saw through Gemma' story about Tara's Chinese take out.)

  • Love 1

Well at least I had one pay-off tonight.  I've been very conscious of the fact that Gemma didn't know exactly why the club was after Juice and she didn't know that she had Juice to blame for Nero ditching her last season.  If she had known, she wouldn't have gotten tripped up tonight.  Mostly because she would have killed Juice herself long ago.

So, when Jax was telling little Damien, I mean Abel, that it was his job to protect everybody, did anyone else yell "And a sorry-ass job you're doing of it too!"

On the bright side, Kim Dickens got an opening credit for playing a dead body for 15 seconds so there's that.

BTW, can anyone explain the second-to-last scene?  If Lin brought all his men to the warehouse who were those Asian guys that the Jax & Co gunned down during the drive-by?  And why were they just standing around outside so conveniently?

I doubt Juice will kill her, that'd be rather anticlimactic. Telling Chibs or Jax that Gemma is the one who killed Tara...that's a better possibility. And far more effective revenge.

It's doubtful they'd believe him, but it would plant a seed that would bring the truth to light eventually. Nobody would find it hard to believe Gemma would make up some bullshit story, and start a war that's piled up bodies on both sides just to protect herself.

  • Love 1
So, when Jax was telling little Damien, I mean Able, that it was his job to protect everybody, did anyone else yell "And a sorry-ass job you're doing of it too!"

"And I am awful at it, son. I am TERRIBLE. Seriously, I have no idea why anybody here is still here, if they had any brains they'd have fled the country years ago."

Gemma cowering in the dirt was satisfying but since it's crystal clear she's not going out like this I'm not worried at all. That said, the scene in the car was genuinely tense. "That's how I know you're lying to me, Gem. Nero would never help me." Did wonder why the airbags didn't deploy and break both their noses, though.

I felt so bad for that hotel manager. It's easy to forget that some people out there are just regular people at work and not bloodthirsty/rock stupid gangsters.

Okay, so let's get straight who knows what:

Juice obviously knows the real truth but I believe Gemma also told him the cover story about the Chinese.

Nero knows that Jax is making war on the Chinese because of Tara and that's why half the people he knows are dead but he's going along with it? Because Gemma? God, what an idiot.

Peter Weller's character (who said "chink" tonight so no on the No Casual Racism thing) knows all this too.

I can't remember what Marks knows or if he cares.

Sheriff Whats Her Name knows because Unser called her.

So basically EVERYBODY knows that Jax is out for vengeance and the only question is who's going to be able to prove to him that it wasn't Lin, because that's the only thing that's going to set the endgame in motion against Gemma.

  • Love 4

Of all the stoopidities, the worst was Unser and Gemma's conscious refusal to pay fro the hotel room in advance.

Wendy is getting her desires fulfilled.  Just a matter of time before she pays.  Large.

Juice is the worst of all worlds - smart/cagey enough to get things, unlike the famous Fredo Corleone, but without the core conviction to act out as necessary.

So, he lashes out as a child to horrific result.  There is no saving of such a person, short of divine providence, in my opinion.  I can scarcely wait to learn how Gemma talked her way out of this one - and how gullible and moronic Juice will be.

Lin is but the latest film/tv villain who had everything he needed to take care of his need.  He had Jax and Chibs literally dead to rights.  And let him live.  zzzzzzzzzzzzz, Sutter.  So, why didn;t Lin have the rest of his boys go to Red Woody and just blow it up at the time of the meet with Jax?  As we have all seen, it is easy to blow up anything if you do not care about the blowback.  Well, as I have written before, who will now seek revenge for SAMCRO?   Which reminds me....

Total and complete BS that the MC's Jax named would join him at this point.  Not after Indian Hills.  No way.  Also, August got his signature.  He doesn't have to lay low any more.  He knows he can't trust Jax and that he needs yellow to stop warring.  He is just standing back and watching?  Nuh uh.

I do love me some Barosky.  Of all the characters, his is the most pure and deep evil.

I'm with the board: No WAY is Gemma dead. Plus, right on the heels of Juice killing an innocent man, (and killing isn't exactly something he enjoys anyway) Juice isn't giving Gemma a lead facial just yet.

Yeah, Able...it's Daddy's job to 'protect these people.' Bang up job he did with Mom, Uncle Opie....

Hmmm....Chinese going to prison. The same one where Nazi Marilyn Manson is staying, perhaps? (I thought there was a 'throw away' line of 'We'll get them inside.' That's immediately where my mind went.)

Nero...Oh, Nero. Gemma must give epic blowies or something...because Nero seems too smart not to see where all this Gemma love has gotten him. And maybe it's just me....but does it seem like Wendy and Nero are exchanging 'looks' at each other? Seriously, you two...take the kids and leave a vapor trail outta Charming!!!!!!

  • Love 2

Katey Sagal's gait when she was running away from Juice was one third Gemma, one third Peg Bundy and one third Harlette.

...but does it seem like Wendy and Nero are exchanging 'looks' at each other?

I hope this means they're being set up as the survivors and possible caretakers of Thomas and Abel.  My second choice for Thomas and Abel's new parents would be Tig and Venus.

I was also yelling at my TV "Kill her now Juice", of course that couldn't happen. If nothing else, Juice is realizing he cannot trust Gemma or anyone connected to SAMCRO. So Nero is just going to forgive Gemma that his son is in danger and must now live in a porn factory where his care will be given by porn actresses and Chucky rather than by qualified people? Sure, he loves Gemma that much.

Don't understand Lin not just blowing Jax away, Jax is taking everything away from him and he lets him walk. OK. And poor little Abel always looks traumatized. I guess it's because the actor is really young and is a little scared, but that kid really looks out of it.

  • Love 1

They haven't figured out Jury turned them into the Chinese yet.

I really hope this is true.  I also think that Bronsky offed the guy in the pawn shop because he was innocent but Bronsky needed a scape-goat because HE told Lin where the guns were (maybe Jury went to Lin and started the ball rolling but Bronsky supplied the final details because we know he's not loyal to anyone.)

What exactly was Jax's plan at the warehouse?  Beat Lin to death and then execute each of the guys zip-tied to the fence and then, what?  The dirty copy said "They can't fall here" and Jax said "We'll take care of it."  So the plan was to beat a man to death and execute a dozen others in broad daylight outside and leave a dozen pools of blood but no bodies, WTF? Does he really think there are no security cameras in a warehouse area, no random witnesses wandering around doing actual, law-abiding work?  Sloppy.

I predict a scene with Jax and Lin in a room, where Gemma is forced to confess that she killed Tara and lied about the Chinese, starting the whole war.  Jax kills her in retribution in front of Lin as means of bringing peace.  August Marks probably sets it up -- maybe Marks and the Irish together because this gang war is bad for business.  I haven't figured out who kills Jax though and damn, the man needs killing.  Maybe Abel.

  • Love 1

Just a few thoughts:

1.  Agreed, no way Gemma is dead this early, if ever.  Juice won't kill her but she may end up killing him out of fear that he'll cave and tell the club the truth about Tara.

2.  The kid actor playing Abel -- is that the best they could do? Seriously, that actor is absolutely awful.

3. Twice Jax was around Thomas, including when he said goodbye to everyone, and did not even acknowledge him. Odd.

4.  The scene with Lin and his gang had the potential to be epic. Too bad the real cops showed up and ruined it all

5.  Yeah, who were the ramdom Chinese guys that were shot on the sidewalk?

6. On a totally shallow note, Angry Jax is hot!

OMG sugarbaker design I noticed that 'gait'. as Gemma was running from Juice and thought the same thing! I was laughing, in fact I have been cracking up throughout this whole season, this last epi. especially. These guys are foolishly following along with Jax whose turned into a complete fool destroying all in his path. I never saw such devotion! And as far as all the destruction happening in poor 'Charming' it would certainly be on all major news channels and declared a state of emergency by now! I suppose when some shows have made it to a final season without being shut down, they just turn lazy, and tired and just seem to make up as the show goes along, or they all just get sick of each other and become anxious to be done with it because Sutter can't think this is quality! Can he!?

We don't know that she actually died, do we?  Juice is not exactly competent and then there's his wee Mommy fetish regarding Gemma.   I think he left her bony rear in the desert.

I'm surprised that no one in the Sons thought that Indian Hills might be the weak point.  I'm also surprised that Nero didn't question Gemma's sighting of "a couple of Chinese guys".

And a surprise to no one, Abel is the Sons official littlest psychopath.

Could Juice for once do something useful and kill Gemma then commit suicide?  Even better if Unser shows up out of nowhere Juice kills Gemma and Unser then commits suicide.

Happy and Tig are hilarious together.

Chibbs and Cop Lady were meh this episode.  They were hotter holding hands last episode.

Nero gets dumber and dumber, and Wendy just lost all functioning brain cells for cuddling up to Nero.

....Next time on How To Raise a SocioPath...

Thoughts from this week's very special episode....

  • Robocop, aka Barosky was the one who hipped Lin's crew to the port.  He set up the Pawn Shop Owner
  • Lila might be the world's worst actress. Why does this always happen, indeed?
  • Venus love must be some powerful stuff, because Tig seemed to be moving around pretty well
  • I laughed out loud at Gemma running through the woods and begging for her life.  The dead eyes behind the Botoxed and juvederm'ed face just didn't sell it for me.
  • Tig has clearly been to band camp.
  • I'm wondering how much more effective the end montage would've been had they used "The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow" from Annie, instead of "Age of Aquarius/Let the Sun shine in..."

Febgirl, lol. I am loving all this snark! At this point that's all there is to do is laugh and snark.

Thank You!  I live to snark!

I'm in it for the long haul at this point.  This show is my guilty pleasure.  There are times I feel like I'm watching two shows at once.  a) The serious drama ( Jimmy Smits, Kim Coates Walton Goggins who elevate things enormously) and then b) the pulpy, soap opera it's become ( Katey Sagal, juice, and everything else...)

  • Love 4

I can't believe this is the same show from a few seasons ago. I just can't believe that Bobby and Chibs would just blindly follow Jax as he careens toward self destruction and not even try to stop him. It feels like these characters are a shadow of their former selves. Does Jax even care that Tara, the supposed love of his life and mother of his kids is dead? Has he even spent any real time with his kids who just lost their mom? Also, I dont buy that Chibs would be attracted to the sheriff, it just feels so forced. I'll stick around to the end, but its been a disappointing season thus far.

  • Love 6

Bobby especially took off and gave up his VP role because he wasn't team Jax on how he was running things, now he's blindly doing everything.

3. Twice Jax was around Thomas, including when he said goodbye to everyone, and did not even acknowledge him. Odd.

I think this is something subtly has been shown through the seasons. Jax always seems to favor or go to Abel first. Like when he thinks Tara or someone has taken the boys, he runs to Abel's room first. He passes Thomas's room and goes to Abel's.

Makes sense, when you consider that Jax was in jail for the whole of Tara's pregnancy, and a portion of Thomas's infancy. No instant bond there.

So the plan was to beat a man to death and execute a dozen others in broad daylight outside and leave a dozen pools of blood but no bodies,

All in a day's work before lunch for SAMCRO!

I don't care about Abel.  Please, no more about how fucked up he is.  No shit.  How could he be any different?

I have no use for Juice either.  He's dangerous to basically everyone.  Yeah, it's not conspicious AT ALL to go outside completely covered in black to get your Butterfinger and Coke.  Whatever.  He should kill Gemma while he has the chance but of course he won't.  If he's going to trade secrets, why not let someone - - ANYONE - - in on the fact that Gemma killed Tara?   He knows he's on borrowed time so take Gemma with him.

Chibs and the Sheriff?  No.  Just no.

  • Love 6

Nero gets dumber and dumber, and Wendy just lost all functioning brain cells for cuddling up to Nero.

Because of Gemma and Jax, Nero's son has been threatened and is now hiding with him and the various family members and hookers in warehouse somewhere.  That's really two more things he's lost as a direct result of his relationship with Gemma and Jax:  his freedom and the safety of his son in the special school he was in.   Nero, honestly, Gemma's magic hoo-haw can't be THAT amazing.

The Nero-Wendy stuff reinforces my feeling that Nero and Wendy end up with the various kids (including the little psychopath).  I'm still pulling hard for Chibs and Althea to somehow ride off into the sunset together, as well.

Edited to add one last comment.   We learned in this episode that Chibs' personal hygiene is directly related to whether or not he's getting any.  Greasy looking = he's in the middle of a long dry spell.

That's true and since he met Thomas as an infant and Thomas is still an infant because of the timeline of the show, he barely knows Thomas or has interacted with him.  Where as with Abel, Jax was a constant from the start. Abel wore SAMCRO clothes all the time and there was that first born bond. I also think  it's possible because of how it all happened he thought of Abel's as "his" and Thomas more as Tara's.

Another factor may be that little kids like Abel are much more interactive than infants.  You can play catch with Abel, or teach him how to threaten someone with a ball peen hammer, for instance.  With an infant, interactions (other than feeding, changing, etc) tend to be limted to cuddling, peekaboo, etc.

Bronsky's loyalties begin and end at Bronsky. I agree that he shot the guy to keep his part of the dirtiness quiet and is simply biding his time and waiting for these morons to kill each other off.

Even better if Unser shows up out of nowhere Juice kills Gemma and Unser then commits suicide.

Unser's cancer would probably throw itself in front of the bullet, shrieking "HE'S MINE!"

  • Love 8

Bronsky's loyalties begin and end at Bronsky. I agree that he shot the guy to keep his part of the dirtiness quiet and is simply biding his time and waiting for these morons to kill each other off.

The question is who called the pawn shop guy and offered him the money to stay away from the warehouse?   Someone who could get his cell phone number for a start.   Would Bronsky go to that much trouble?  Or would he just tell the guy to stay away?   Plausible deniability, I guess.   Still, it COULD be someone other than Bronsky.

I had the feeling that it might have been Barosky, too, because he had a fairly nice, tidy, quiet little empire going before he got tangled up with the Sons. He probably doesn't like the Chinese either, but he just wants one group to wipe out the other, and he doesn't care which is which. Then whoever is left standing can go off to prison, because he would probably drop the dime on them, too. However, it still leaves the question of whether Uncle Jury initially told the Chinese that the Sons stole their drugs. Good grief. Also, Barosky really didn't seem tearful over the loss of Blonde Madam. He said, "She was a good girl." Whoop-de-do.

I also didn't understand why Lin didn't just blow Jax away when he could have, but then it seemed it was because he still wanted to get his drugs back.

I, too, was rooting for Juice to blow Gemma away, but dh said no he won't because, remember,

That girl from Glee is supposed to have a cameo role as a waitress in a diner or truck stop, and she's supposed to interact with Gemma. So shit, then I knew Gemma wasn't going down.

Oh Nero, you Cardigan wearing Cat Daddy that makes the word mama sound hot and dirty.

Yes.  He could just call me mama all night long and I'd be satisfied.  Almost.

I swear, Gemma's broke down in the hips like an old war horse.  She cracks me up, strutting around in those jeans, trying (without much success) to be sexy.  Even though I doubt that Juice shot her, I enjoyed watching her losing her shit, begging him not to shoot.

Filip and the sheriff - no way is this gonna work out.  I know he's sexy but is she really that desperate, shagging a shady character?  And is he really that desperate?  She's got a tight mouth.

When Nero was sitting next to Wendy on the sofa, I was thinking that he must be pretty ripe under the armpits by now in that funky mom sweater.  How much time has passed?  Seems like he should have changed clothes.  Then again, they're all pretty funky-looking so I guess it doesn't much matter.

Speaking of Wendy, she seems to be acting like the queen now, what with taking care of the boys and all, but I guess Gemma has been too preoccupied to notice.

At this point I don't know what's going on.  I don't know if Jax is trying to double, triple, or quadruple-cross his enemies.  All I know is that, typically, the more convoluted your schemings become, the more likely it is that you will fuck your own self up.

Why would the Chinese believe anything that Jax or Nero said? Nero saying "bring all your men" should have been a huge red flag. Why not shoot Jax in the head and get it over with? Thought they were smarter than that.

Chibs and the Sheriff... don't get it. Don't get why she would willingly get in bed literally with a criminal. Also don't understand why she would warn the Sons as well. If her goal is truly a safe Charming... why not arrest them all? Perfect opportunity.

Nothing makes sense... it is as if everybody conveniently acts stupid or illogical to further the plot.

Off course, Gemma's gonna live. Juice is gonna act illogically and let her go.
