Quintavious and Jennifer Hudon sounded great together, but I dislike the overwrought song.

Yay, Cyndi Lauper and Emily West. They seem like they're actually friends.

So, since they didn't find out until last night that they were in the final, do they only get one day to practice with their celeb choice? Or do all twelve acts have a celeb duet worked out, and half the acts (and the celebs) are thrown out?

I thought Emily had it in the bag so it was a nice surprise that Matt Franco beat her out.

At least that 12 year old that sings songs better fit for middle aged female gospel singer didn't win, he got old fast. Or Acro Army who are just glorified cheerleaders.

Acro Army was robbed! Robbed, I tell you.

However, I can be satisfied with Mat Franco winning because I just wanted the singing acts to lose. Hell, the 12 year old Quintavious sounded better to me than the pretty blond Barbie. I adored his performance with Jennifer Hudson, and I love that song to pieces. Seeing, er hearing, that boy have the pipes to keep up with her, I finally actually liked the kid.

I'm not as bitter as I thought I would be about this. I hope Acro Army goes on the road and come to my town. I'd pay money to see them. I wouldn't pay a shiny nickel for Emily West's stuff.

I guess I now know why they manipulate the show to have lots of singers. How else could they pad the two hour finale with music performances to promote upcoming albums?

Thank you, voters. So glad it was Mat.

I truly thought it would be Emily and was mentally composing an angry melodramatic diatribe about how her duet with Cyndi Lauper was staged like Cyndi was the contestant and Emily was the visiting pro.

Loved how one of AcroArmy 's leaders encouraged the kids to celebrate third place, as well they should.

What was with the booing when Quint went out? The whole live audience really thought he had it in the bag and the other acts were much worse?

Top of the world, Mat. Have a great performance in Vegas and enjoy your million.

I interpreted that as the audience being pissed off he was voted off. I think the live audience thought Ameriker made the wrong choice.

I was shocked Q went out fifth.  His duet was JHud was awesome!   How come the fifth place finisher got a free trip to Disney and no other contestant won anything ?

Really thought Emily had this in the bag (did she know Cyndi Lauper already? Why was Cyndi crying?) so was pleasantly  surprised that Nick called out Matt Franco's name : )

LOL... all the music stuff that had no relevance to AGT whatsoever got the mute button from me (Pitbull, Ed Sheeran, Train once SOS left the stage). I did like Quintavious and Jennifer Hudson. My favorite celeb though was Rosie with Mat and Howard. That was fun. The guitarist from Train looks like Howie.

Howard - "Nick's been sad all season and I think we all know why... because he's never won an Emmy." LOL. Agree with Mel that Nick's the glue that holds the show together. I honestly can't imagine the show without him.

Miguel getting 6th - heee.

They're sending Quintavious and fam on vacation - I love that. I'm guessing he got that special little prize and nobody else did because he's a kid and the show just really loves him lol. And you can tell Nick really liked that kid. Damn, the audience was really pissed that he got 5th.

I'm happy with the top 3 and it's exactly what I expected. Crazy to think AcroArmy almost got eliminated at one point and ended up in 3rd. Emily was a great sport and I hope she gets another recording contract as she really is great. Woohoo Mat! This was a nice palate cleanser after the mess that was Masterchef's finale earlier this week.

The final three were my three choices, so I was okay with any of them winning. If I had to pick I would have preferred Acro Army, but this is good.

As Jennifer Hudson proves, you don't have to win a reality show to parlay your experience on it into success.

Surprised and happy that Mat Franco won! Up till tonight, I would have bet money on Emily West winning because the judges lavish her with such praise, and the live audience always seems to love her too. But as the show went on, I noticed that Mat got the biggest applause whenever they would introduce the acts. Things that make you go hmmm. I didn't realize how popular he is. But he does have a good act and a great stage presence. He does a nice job of keeping the audience engaged, of widening out the tricks for a larger stage.

If it hadn't been Mat, I hoped for Acro Army. They are amazing, and their act is suited to the big stage.

I just couldn't get behind Emily West. I don't find her that great. She sounds pretty much the same on every song - with one exception, tonight in her duet she seemed to be imitating Cyndi Lauper. It was weird. I was kind of put off when I heard she had been on a couple of reality shows already.

When Sons of Serendip were performing, I couldn't help thinking that their singer sings everything sooooo slow. The contrast when the Train singer started in was dramatic to me.

The way Nick offered that trip to Quintavious, I halfway thought it was improvised, because he couldn't stand to see Q. disappointed.

Yay, Mat!!

Wow, that show is overlong. They could have announced the winner on Twitter and I would have been just as happy.

I don't know why, because AGT has never pretended to be about amateur talent, but I was rooting against Emily West after finding out about her recording with Keith Urban and being on other reality shows, especially The Apprentice (blerg). I still think she has a great voice and I wish good things for her, but I'm glad she didn't win.

I am shocked that Mat won. Not that he wasn't good, but some of the other acts were more talented. There were 2 times in his last few performances that I saw how a part of the trick was done. That's a no no in magic & not worth a million dollars.

STILL VERY bitter about David and Leeman going home. They had better tricks and were better showmen than Franco. Then of course there was Christian Stoinev, Scooby, & Scooby 2. They were talented and very cute. I know, I know- I need to get over it already!!

I am glad Quintavious didn't win- like I said before, I think it would've been too much pressure for a 12 year old. Let him be a kid!! Again- like I said before- if puberty doesn't kill his voice, he'll be a star one day.

AcroArmy. Honestly they probably should've won. They were (in Mel B.'s words) "Off the chain!!!" They were dangerous and very very exciting to watch and I think they woulda fit into Vegas very nicely.

I did some research on Emily West. Turns out she was signed with Capitol Records (Nashville). She did a duet with Keith Urban and was on several TV Shows (including Celebrity Apprentice). She was even in a movie starring Nicholas Cage. So how did a beautiful young country star with a voice like that get dropped from her record label? I don't know- but I would love to find out. After I found that stuff online, I was rooting for Miguel over her. People deserve second chances but that boy deserves his first one.

Needless to say-- not exactly pleased with this years show for many different reasons. I will be tuning in next Season though, there's no doubt about that. I really would love for a comedian to win now.

YAY, MAT!

The guy I was rooting for actually won!   He's the only one I've bothered to vote for in several seasons, and even then it was just for the finale.

YES!

I'm so happy a singer didn't win since there are a billion other singing shows out there already.

On a shallow note:  I'm totally shipping Lenny Kravitz's drummer and her fabulous hair with the very cute AGT house drummer.  They'd have the world's cutest drummer babies together.

If I am in Las vegas and the AGT revue is playing would I go see it?  No way.

Very pleased that  a non-singer won.  I believe Mat was the most consistent of the magicians, so it was proper that he won.  Acro Army would have also been a deserving winner.  But if I am in Vegas, I'd go see Cirque du Soleil.

Hopefully we have seen the last of Heidi on AGT, and we have NOT seen the last of Mel B.  The two Howards can go, too.

Oh, Lonesome Rhodes! Heidi would never voluntarily leave a television show!! Think of all the exposure she would miss.

They may have, they just didn't announce it.  They announced this one because they might have already bought the ticket for Mara Justine, or figured he'd place higher, and so America can go "aww, he got a consolation prize!"

I'm surprised Mat Franco won, but happy for him, and magicians everywhere are amazed that someone won a million dollars, in part, on the cups and balls trick.  It's a trick done so often it's almost a meta-trick, but he did it well.

Now I'm wondering if I was actually right in another thread--that Emily West's giant dress cost her the win, or if it was because enough people realized this is more like her third or fourth chance.  But I hope she has a resurgance either way; what she sang seems to fit her voice well.  She might like country, but sometimes you've got to go with where your strengths are.

But mostly, good luck everyone, and if I don't see you elsewhere, have a great nine months!

That was a pretty decent finale.  Maybe too many singing acts but still it was pretty good.  Lenny is hot!

Glad Matt won but did he get to say anything at the end?  I saw Emily talking and being very gracious and Nick congratulating Matt and the boom it was over.  Did I miss it?

I am pleasantly surprised that a non-singer, non-child won, but I've been thinking that whoever it was going to be, that act may have actually had only 25-30% of the vote, given how many ways the balloting was split. In fact with six finalists, you theoretically could win with only 17% of the vote if everyone split more or less evenly. In early seasons of the show didn't they cut down to two or three acts for the final vote?

Oh well, it's just a spectacle, and given the ratings success I don't think they have any reason to change.

Marketdoctor,  the red dress was hideous.   Then the rain through most of her last song was like, whaaat?    Both so distracting that it took away from her performances.  Mat, with his hail fellow well met attitude, an infectious smile  - well, I still think the most popular presidential candidate or contestant on a talent show wins.  I found Mat's tricks pedestrian but I really loved his personality.  He should maybe run for president?  <only kidding>

With that said,  I really wanted Acro Army to win, with Emily now my second choice.  I did think she had it in the bag, but I was wrong.  But second place is fine and I would have been happy with that had Acro Army won.   I just feel meh about Mat winning, but then I always feel that way about most winners of talent contests.

It was however an entertaining finale and I loved the tribute to Nick.  He is the glue who holds this show together.  He and Tom Bergeron are my two favorite hosts. So, all in all, a pretty good year for AGT.

I really hoped it was going to be Acro Army, but really so long as it wasn't Miguel I was going to be happy.  Of the top 6, Mat was my second favorite so I'm very pleased he won.  I thought SOS and Quintavious should have switched places, based on their final performances, but that's just nitpicking.

I've only watched sporadically but how old is Emily West supposed to be?  Maybe it's the makeup and the hairstyle but she looks 40ish.  I saw her parents in the audience on one show and her mother looked like her older sister.

Anyway, congratulations to Matt Franco.  I did see enough of his act to know that I liked him.  Like some others, if not Scooby, then I'm happy he won.

I seem to remember in Prince Poppycock's year, there were only four finalists, with him coming in 4th, thanks to spoilsport/part-time homophobe Piers Morgan.

So I think having so many singers in the final affected them, the votes were spread between them, so of course a non-singer won... say one less singer would have won it for Emily... so maybe the producers would learn and not have so many singers next year... yeah we know they engineering it this way...

So the winners will get to play 2 shows next week at Planet Hollywood.

Acts confirmed include:

Franco will headline "America's Got Talent Live" at The AXIS Powered by Monster at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas (Sept. 26 and 27). Additional acts confirmed to appear include AcroArmy, Emil & Dariel, Emily West, Miguel Dakota, Quintavious Johnson, Sons of Serendip and season 8 runner-up, comedian Taylor Williamson.

I was hoping for AcroArmy but like Mick Jagger said, you can't always get what you want. heh

Mat's tricks earlier in the season were very good, but I didn't like the later stuff as well.

Regardless, they all get to go do more performances for more big audiences, and I wish them well with future opportunities.

When Nick announced to Quintavious that he was getting the trip, it sounded like Nick was footing the bill.  Maybe he did like that kid so much.  If so. God bless him!

That did sound spontaneous didn't it?  I'm sure Nick can well afford it.  Nick seemed to genuinely like Quintavious.  He seems like a real nice kid with good parents.  His singing reminds me of Motown and the young singers they would put out back in Motwon's heyday.  Quintavious seems very rooted in his church.  I can see him being quite a star in the gospel and christian music market.  Maybe it wouldn't be appropriate for AGT but I really wanted to hear him do a full on gospel number.

I think Howard nailed it when at the beginning of the performance show he said that 4 singers in the finals might split the votes. Thus the 2 variety acts in the top 3. One less singer in the finals and Emily West probably would've won.

In fact, I think she might've still won, but I believe she shot herself in the foot by repeating a song she'd already advanced with. It felt safe and cowardly, like she thought she already had it won and didn't need to take the risk of singing something new. The only thing new in that performance was "the world's biggest dress," which I thought looked ridiculous and might also have cost her votes. It went along with the whole over-the-top aspect of the performance. (I admit to not liking that genre of melodramatic song. I know it's a contemporary song, but it felt dated a/la Whitney/Celine Dion. I know Emily West wants to totally change her old country singer image, but I hope she's not planning to go the diva route.)

Compared to the singers who repeated songs, I think that Mat got credit for a doing a new trick. I'm glad he won, but surprised because I didn't think it was his best night. The patter felt too rushed, and it did not help the trick that his hands twice dropped below the table. But I give him credit for trying to win it all with sleight-of-hand, instead of going for something "big." As a previous poster said, I think that this year the magic acts (or at least the successful ones) were refreshing, because they didn't go for the big, Vegas-style illusions, which have less to do with the skill of the magician than the budget for purchasing the equipment

Emily doesn't have to worry about a career now. If the marketing "geniuses" at some record label know where to place her she'll be fine. I do wonder what was going on with Cyndi Lauper. She looked like the last place she wanted to be was right there. When Emily kissed her on the cheek she wiped it off in a hurry and she looked angry. I almost thought she was ready to storm off.
