Lisette is so odd to me.  Who is thrilled that the previous owner left their bras behind?  Even if you admire their fashion sense, not sure that would extend to envying someone's bras?

Me, after she squealed (again with the squealing on this show, what the hell?) after seeing those bras:

Right? Like, okay, I get you aren't going to go all Babette's Feast but you could, you know, give us something to look at it.

Seeing Kim Catrall as Samantha felt great. She deserves better than this mess but it was a good nod to the fans.

Im still pissed about the pregnancy storyline for LTW.

Everyone looked amazing at the dinner. The clothes are always A+.

I think Carrie going to see Aidan (rather than vice versa) would’ve been a good compromise once Wyatt is more stable. The way Aidan was speaking to her, felt like he was PUNKING her. As if he was glad to give a BS excuse as to why the were over.

Charlotte and Harry setting up the phone together was precious. Don’t care about Che and Toby at all. Care about Nya and Toussiant a LOT🤣

Cats go to bed when you do (if they like you). You turn the light off, crawl under the sheets and a few minutes later, you feel the thump at the foot of the bed and then the padding of the feet towards you. (And then the heaviness against your head--or your face!--if you're lucky.)

They don't have a "bedtime," although it was sweet that Carrie seemed so attached.

It's a kitten, it was probably extremely over-stimulated by the preparations and needed to go to a quiet, calm space to take a long nap.

Actually, the only thing I find implausible about the cat with Carrie is she could deal with a kitten. I have now raised both a puppy and two kittens, all three were living nightmares the first few months of their lives.

We have two cats, both from the same litter, both given the same love, same enrichment, same freedom, completely bonded pair, one is always on high alert, very strong prey drive, very energetic, very communicative and curious, often demands a ton of attention on demand. Or other cat, just a lump, the dogs can step on him and he isn't even annoyed, you pick him up and he turns into jello, he has never shown signs of stress, while our other cat is playing cat parkour, he can be found laying on the living room floor, on his back completely splayed out. He is also a very large cat, last time I took him to the vet they asked me if I needed them to get him out with protection, then thought he was very ill because I just removed him from his crate, plopped him on the table and he was just like, whatever. He is also the sweetest thing in the world, wants nothing more than to crawl up with you in bed.

Long way of saying, (Knowing that this isn't real), I hope the kitten works out for Carrie, if she had gone to a shelter they could have easily matched her with a cat with a fully baked personality that fit her lifestyle, a short hair, low energy, petite cat that want's nothing more out of life than to sit in a bed in a window, crawl up with you and a book and occasionally play with a string.

Yes. I’ve had cats most of my life and I’ve never wanted a kitten. My two cats now are the most rambunctious cats I’ve ever had, they get into everything and adore human food (not something I learned at the shelter), that sort of cat wouldn’t be a good fit for Carrie.

I'm glad I was willing to sit through some terribly cringe writing/dialogue (i.e. "impenetrable", "lick the spoon after the black olive", etc.) to get to what was a surprisingly poignant and satisfying end. I'm loving this friendship between Seema and Carrie; the two have great chemistry. And it's so refreshing to see the show finally circle back to and reaffirm what it was originally always supposed to be about - female friendships above all else.

Side-note - Seema, Carrie, and Lizzy were all gorgeous at the dinner party. SJP is making 50+ look damn good.

ETA - Samantha's cameo was literally just that - a cameo. I almost forgot it even happened. Silly me, thinking the writers would think of something clever and thoughtful; to make use of her appearance in order to contribute to the plot in some meaningful way. Would she really make such an effort to show up to a dinner party when she didn't even make the effort for Big's funeral?

How it should have ended. With real emotions.

"Aidan kneels down and puts his head on Carrie's lap. He starts to cry softly, while she caresses his hair. "Easy, baby. It's going to be ok." "No it's not", he says. " I can't. I just can't be with you right now, and it's killing me. But my boy needs me, and he comes first. God, Carrie, what are we going to do?"

She looks into his eyes and says: "We'll find a way. I'll go visit you, or you will take one day off to see me. Or we'll meet in the middle." Aidan smiles through the tears. 'Will you really do that for me? When I can't promise you anything? I love you so much." She kisses him." Just promise you won't give up on me. You will keep trying, no matter what." "Always", he says.

And just like that, I  wasn't worried anymore."

Charlotte and Harry are both busy, but they're also rich.  Hire a housekeeper to help out.

Aiden is blowing Carrie off for five years and she's okay with that?  His son needs a therapist, not a helicopter father.  I agree with the poster who said that the boy has played his father to break up with Carrie.  Even if he felt that he needed to spend more time with Wyatt, if he REALLY cared about Carrie, he would have tried to work out a schedule where they could have kept seeing each other - BEFORE five years (snap!) passed.

The cat is perfect, I've always been a dog person, in fact, brought two dogs with me in to the relationship with my now husband. There was an outdoor cat that he took care of, she just showed up in his backyard one day very hungry and then stuck around for 16 more years until she passed. She was offered many chances to move into the house full-time, particularly in her later years, but she was an outdoor cat through and through.

Well, shortly after her passing his mother told him that a cat had shown up at their house with a litter of kittens and were we interested. Long story short, we now have 2 1 year old 100% indoor cats that I was very unsure about but are just charming, you can just ignore them and they just kind of do their cat activities with not a care in the world. Perfect pet for Carrie, an object of attention when she wants it, otherwise they just kind of do their cat things.

♥️♥️♥️

I had to put down my black cat last summer. She was 19.5 years old. I still miss her, so Shoe puts me in my feels.

Carrie is the perfect cat person for the reasons you listed.

Also I loved her Last Supper dress.

So Aiden just walked right in with Lisette downstairs having let him in....

He said nothing in response when Carrie said "You're in the apartment, you said you'd never set foot in the apartment."

After having her schlep back and forth to hotels for months, and shopping  for and trying  to conceal the whole Airbnbing Che's apartment thing...

Makes a speech about how he has to be there in Va. for his kids without Carrie as a distraction... until Wyatt is 20. FIVE YEARS!

Snaps his fingers and says 5 years will go by just like that.

...and she has him stay over one last night?

Couldn't be me.

Seema's comment struck me as did Carrie's reaction to it.

I'm wondering if they'll be truly single next season.

I wouldn't wait 5-6 years for anyone to get it together. Sorry. I don't care who it is.

Aidan bugs the shit out of me. He's been obsessed with Carrie all these years, despite marrying another woman and having three sons with her. Weird.

Miranda, remember  those words Che said to you? That's called an a-p-o-l-o-g-y. You still owe Steve one.

Also, Steve was happily with Debbie. You made the move to get him back.

That said, it's really nice to have a recognizable Miranda back. See, writers? It wasn't her new sexuality we didn't like; it was her new personality.

You are not a freaking war widow, Carrie, you do not have to wait five years for your man to return from the front.  He’s not at war, he’s in Virginia, for Christ’s Sake.  If any one of your friends proposed waiting *five years* for a man, they’d be deemed insane.

as a gay man, I am  pissed  as to how they handled the Anthony/Giuseppe storyline.  Letting down your emotional barriers because your ex is now a Shinto monk or whatever doesn’t mean you should let down your physical boundaries.  Giuseppe is a terrible lay if he couldn’t pick up on  Anthony’s physical discomfort which was exceedingly  obvious to the audience.  I did wonder if the placement of the Boy Butter  lube was actually product  placement.

also, please warn me in advance if my RSVP to your dinner party includes “fun” emotional games.  Because I don’t care if there’s a Michelin Starred chef, I am not coming.  (Also, you are so hard up for friends that you invite annoying Jackie?). This is not ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf,’ I did NOT consent to an evening of fun and games with George and Martha.

All I thought with Che and Lisette’s interaction was Demi’s “get a job, stay away from her:”

Perhaps it's because I'm currently in the post-production stage of TV producing myself, but the shot of Miranda hailing the cab on the way to the BBC felt like superfluous filler.

It also felt unrealistic. She’s barely out the door, not down on the sidewalk, and a cab miraculously not only happens by right away but stops for her too?

I'm just gonna have to set y'all straight (and that ain't easy, given that I'm a very gay man, but, anyway...)

For everyone asking why is Che still around and why is Jackie there at the party, etc., you all know why. MPK rightfully took aaaaaalllll of the not-diverse-enough-original-show criticism to heart. But, did he think long and hard about how he could avoid vulgar tokenism and work to organically create real, deep, heartfelt diversity with quality characters that make sense? No he did not! He made himself a little checklist and by god and the Easter Bunny he's gonna fill it! He has several Black characters. Seema fills the South Asian spot, and of course the not-straight spots are filled by Che as non-binary, Rose/Rock as trans, Anthony as gay and Miranda as a lesbian (Miranda could also fill the "questioning" spot, were it needed). Che even does double duty, as Che also fills the Latinx roll. And Jackie is the East Asian. I suppose Lily could fill that spot, but she's not really a friend of Carrie per se, so I don't think MPK would accept that.

You don't like any of those characters I just listed? Tough! 'Cause they're not going aaaaanywhere. So, buckle up, buttercups, they're here for the long haul.

Yes, we've written about MPK and his typists' checklist designed to correct past sins of omission many, many times.

It was  Lily who answered and hung up  Carrie's phone when Big was urgently trying to call her right before their N.Y. Public Library nuptials in  shitty movie #1.  I think she then  tucked Carrie's phone into her fancy little cupcake  shaped flower girl purse. She was little, like 4 or 5.

Lili had a piano recital that coincided with a trip Carrie +  Big had planned. Under pressure from Charlotte   to attend, Carrie postponed it and went to the recital, leaving Big at home with the dreaded Peloton.

Also, when Carrie moved back to her apartment after Big died in S1 she had Lily come over and help her sort through her clothes and she ended up sleeping over due to  some teen drama with her mum. She may have given her some things.

So yes, Lili is an Asian person who has been in Carrie's life. Don't Charlotte's girls call her aunt Carrie? I'm sure it's a much closer relationship than she has with Jackie the podcast guy. Why not have her and Rock at the last supper over virtual strangers?

Did I miss something about the 5 year pause for Aidan and Carrie - why can't she go to Virginia for a while, she hasn't anything else on, does she? Yes, Wyatt isn't too fond of her, but if they work with a therapist on his issues he could come round. She makes his Dad happy after all.

I don't mind Samantha not sounding like the 'old' Samantha. If she's lived in London for a few years its normal that her speech and accent would change and not snap fully back to her US style for a short phone call like that.
The cameo itself, meh, underwhelming. Its far bigger that SJP finally got her kit off for that final humping montage - she was the one who always left her bra on during sex scenes. Was that an attempt to make this a bigger story than the Samantha cameo?

One more thing: The chef explains that they should start with the green olive, than move on to the black - insert innuendo banter with Nya - and then lick the spoon. And then everyone goes and starts with the black olive and the tiny spoon?

Aidan dove way too fast into his relationship with Carrie as far as his kids are concerned. Wyatt is only 13 and clearly not in a good place. Aidan should really have waited 6 months to a year before even making him aware that he was in a relationship. Especially when he was getting back into a relationship that had imploded twice already. Odds are he and Carrie wouldn't work out, so why make his kid even have to think about it until he was absolutely sure it was something that could last? Especially as Carrie and Aidan live far apart in very different environments. They had an awful lot to work through as a couple to see if they could make it long term successful. Because I don't believe that Aidan would have continued to be happy spending every second week in New York once the excitement of a new relationship ended. Maybe he'd have been ok with one week a month if they took turns but I don't think Carrie would have coped with a week a month in rural Virginia. Their best bet, seeing as how they are both super rich, would be for one of them to buy a house somewhere like a fashionable coastal Delaware town and regularly meet in the middle. But with Aidan only being a few hours drive from home which would be quicker than having to rely on flights if there is an emergency.

Even if it was working out once it gets more mundane, it would still be a good idea to keep Carrie and his kids reasonably separate. As in Wyatt could know his dad has a partner but without Carrie trying to be a meaningful part of his life. Because even if Carrie and Aidan made the 5 years of Wyatt's remaining teens work as a long distance, see each other twice a month type relationship. Then what? Long term, I think that a week on/off suits Carrie if Aidan keeps coming to her. I think she'd have happily done that for the rest of her life. But Aidan wouldn't. Once Wyatt was grown up Aidan would want his partner to live with him full-time and he wouldn't want to be in NYC full time. But Carrie won't live anywhere but Manhattan. These two are so unlikely to work out that Aidan really should be keeping his relationship with her and his children very separate because the likelihood of Carrie and Wyatt ever being important to each other is really slim.

Not just you. To me, she’s always unlikeable in different ways. In SATC, she’s unlikeable in the whiny, annoying, “can you please just shut up” way (which is understandable, she’s younger then). In AJLT, it’s the quieter, but equally oblivious to everyone else kind of unlikeable.

The one act of selflessness that I remember of Carrie was when she braved the NYE winter to get to Miranda’s when Miranda was feeling shitty about being alone in NYE.

Oh, no, T Summer, I completely agree that Lily is a big part of Carrie's life. I just don't think she counts a part of the 'friend group" and therefore doesn't fill the assigned role that Jackie does. At least Miranda is making me happy now. Back to her old self. Bless.

Message to MPK: I don't care about anyone not named Carrie, Shoe, Miranda, Charlotte, Richard Burton, Steve and Harry. The rest is a blur. And I absolutely hate Che. Please send her away.

So Aidan needs to put his relationship on hold because of Wyatt. Does his ex wife have to put her relationship on hold?  The way they are writing the story Kathy wasn't/isn't as hands on as Aidan.  I feel like the show missed an opportunity not showing Carrie in Virginia with Aidan.  We could have seen the kids and how they and Carrie interacted with another. As with much of this show there have been things missing that would have served the storyline.

I'm not someone who believes Carrie needs paired up. Or any woman for that matter.  But this really does feel like they brought Aidan back because it was the easy thing to do.  And it was such a poorly written story. The whole five years thing is stupid.  What is MPK thinking?  That Max will renew it just to see what happens in five years?  What was the plan before Wyatt's accident?  They would continue to see each other every other week? Or was Carrie going to go to Virginia on Aidan's weeks with the kids?

Can you imagine the living hell that boy is going to go through?  Aiden in his face all the time?  If this were any other show, I’d think Aiden was just coming up with an excuse to break up. Because what’s he going to do that he can’t ever go away for a weekend or have his girlfriend over?  His ex, who had shown herself to be concerned enough about her boys to meet with the new/old girlfriend and ask her to protect their privacy, is now a negligent mom. Is Aiden planning on spending Wyatt’s weeks with her just standing outside her house ready to jump in if Wyatt leaves the house?   Is he going to follow him to school, on school trips?  If Wyatt goes to university or gets a job before the 5 years are up, is Aiden going to follow him there?  I could buy cooling it off and staying close to home for a bit, but no contact for five years is the most ridiculous idea ever conceived and I can’t believe Carrie fell for it.

You know what else I don't get, why invite Che and Jackie and his wife and not Franklyn, the podcast producer? He and Carrie didn't leave off on bad terms when they ended their  Thursday thing. He was just looking for a heavier involvement than Carrie was at the time.

She doesn't know Guiseppi, hardly knows Nya or LTW + Herbert. She had friends  over the SATC years. It's strange she'd have to resort to these brand new "friends" who are hardly more than acquaintances yet,  but yeah... she invited a bunch of beautiful people and a couple  of the people from the podcast.

Who gives a banquet just because they're moving? And in all those years she was married, did she live there or with Big? It's all so damned stupid. Why would her new friends give a rat's ass about her silly feels for her apartment?

I really don't see what's so weird about any of it. While I have never done this particular thing, I can say with 100% confidence that my friends would indeed indulge me if I did, and the same goes for the other way around. Friends, on behalf of friends, often give a rat's ass about a lot of random stuff -- in my experience, at least.

That ending of everyone having sex was cringe-inducing. Also, I was worried that we were going to witness a kitten escape attempt. Losing a pet to the outdoors is fear of mine and, even just on TV, it makes me tense. I don't generally love Carrie, but I did like that she realized that she digs having a kitten.

IIRC it's the way Aidan remembered Kathy, was that she wasn't as hands-on as Aidan. What we saw was that Kathy flew to New York to have a quiet conversation about drawing boundaries around her boys, which greatly impressed me.

The old feminist phrase "A woman Needs a Man Like a Fish Needs a Bicycle" comes back to me every time I hear somebody like Nya bleating about not having a MAN to share things with.  So many won't give you the validation you need for your accomplishments, honey.  Find folks that will.

And I heard an actual Michelin star chef once say "If you have to tell people how to eat it, your dish is a failure".  (May have been Marco Pierre-White, he says stuff like that....Or Anthony Bourdain....)

I also think Carrie just paid lip service to Aiden's grand 5 year plan.  She knows it has that romantic hook she craves, like moving to Paris for love (the Russian) or eloping in a vintage dress (Big).  But also knows it's never going to happen.

And WTF happened to "Aiden won't fail a 3rd time" bullshit?  HE FAILED.  SPECTACULARLY.  He went in the apartment and he ditched Carrie.  He's a fail all around.

did I miss the part on who's watching Shoe whilst Carrie is in Greece?

I imagine Shoe is at Lisette's, or that Che or Lisette are checking in on her. Or a pet service. I refuse to believe any harm is going to come to that gorgeous little floof.

The one act of selflessness that I remember of Carrie was when she braved the NYE winter to get to Miranda’s when Miranda was feeling shitty about being alone in NYE.

I find myself being a Carrie apologist here, tho I absolutely think she's self centered and self absorbed. But I can think of plenty of other instances where Carrie showed up for her friends. She went with Miranda for her abortion appointment. She went to her place, armed  with Oreos, in the middle of the might when Miranda thought she was hearing ghosts in the apartment above. When Samantha had the flu, she went over and made Sam's mom's gross remedy of orange soda and cough syrup for her. When Charlotte was freaking out on her wedding day, she told her she'd get them a cab and get the hell out of there if Charlotte had changed her mind.

These are just off the top of my head, and maybe they're all what any friend could be expected to do, but she did them. I just don't hate Carrie, never did, and actually like her most of the time in this incarnation.

I still can't figure out her and Aidan's ending tho. Wtf was MPK thinking? How does anyone believe that was "not a fail" for both Carrie and Aidan?

IIRC it's the way Aidan remembered Kathy, was that she wasn't as hands-on as Aidan. What we saw was that Kathy flew to New York to have a quiet conversation about drawing boundaries around her boys, which greatly impressed me.

And this is another problem with the show.  They have Aidan saying he was around more than Kathy IMO implying he was the better parent and yet we see with our own eyes Kathy being a concerned parent and ex wife.  My opinion is the writers want us to think Aidan was always carrying a torch for Carrie and he was just about to get his happily ever after with her but his kid needs him. That we are supposed to think this is like some Affair to Remember crap and in five years they will meet up on the Empire State Building.

The old feminist phrase "A woman Needs a Man Like a Fish Needs a Bicycle" comes back to me every time I hear somebody like Nya bleating about not having a MAN to share things with.  So many won't give you the validation you need for your accomplishments, honey.  Find folks that will.

This all day every day.  There is nothing wrong with wanting a partner to share your accomplishments with.  But if there isn't a partner it doesn't mean your accomplishments are not as important.  I keep saying I want to see one, just one happily single person on this show.  They do exist you know.

And add me to the list of those who were confused by Aidan’s 5 year plan.  I completely understand having your kids as your absolute first priority, but they don’t need to be your only priority.  It’s unreasonable for a parent of teens to literally never leave town/the house just because they might need you (and I say this as a mom of a son almost exactly Wyatt’s age).  Surely there was some middle ground between Aidan constantly running back and forth from NY and essentially chaining himself to the farmhouse?   So they’re just on old for the next 5 years, or…?

I saw that stupid scene as a breakup and I think Carrie did too even though Aidan didn't make a lot of sense.  SJP doing a nude scene (after all these years of not) during the farewell sex was more of a surprise.

Aidan,  in his tighty whiteys, was never going to be a good fit for Carrie.  Good riddance Country Lurch.

I think I'm going to go out on a limb as to what everyone is asking, the snap your fingers 5 years will happen so fast you won't believe it is pretty transparent foreshadowing that yes, just like that, we will be 5 years in the future. Wouldn't that put all the kids in college and allow a bit of a series reboot, Miranda and Charlotte would be established in their careers at that point, Seema could be settled down with the love of her life and the show would be about new empty nesters deciding what to do now.

Another one--when she and Charlotte were at that forum where the speaker was all "If you're just positive, you will find yourself in a relationship" and when Charlotte tried to voice her doubts, the speaker kind of shamed her by saying you're being negative, you're not putting yourself out there. Blaming Charlotte for why she hadn't found the right relationship yet. And Carrie stood up and firmly refuted what the speaker was saying. "No. She's putting herself out there." I always liked that moment.

I like Carrie too. Stuff like Carrie expecting Miranda to show up at the dinner after Che crapped on her--I'm going to blame that on the typists, who clearly do NOT understand these characters the way we do.

Oh, but 5 yrs. is nothing according to Aiden. Just snap your fingers and 5 yrs have gone by! In the meantime, don't come to my house, I don't have time to come to yours and my kid isn't going to know you exist until I think he can handle it (like in 5 yrs).  The kicker for me is that Carrie is ok with it!

She always did which is why it was hard for me to accept they didn't like each other IRL. KC always played that part so professionally! I wonder how much they had to pay her to come back for 10 seconds.

The writers on this show are either 60 year old men who think this is what women do, or they're secretly trying to tank the show.

Aidan you are rewarding bad behavior.  You will never win this fight as long as you think you have to be Wyatt's friend. The kid needs a swift kick in the ass.

If you let your kid hold you hostage to his spoiled brat behavior, you are in for a lifetime of bailing this little shit out of trouble and dealing with his nonsense.

Maybe Carrie didn't make a mistake after all. Aidan is such a mess he can't walk into an apartment he hasn't been in for 15 years or so, and he can't deal with his son doing three illegal things, drugs, drinking and stealing a truck and crashing it, without crying like a baby. What did he break a leg or something?  He's lucky that's all that happened to him. As soon as my leg healed my parents would have grounded me for the next year.

That half ass break up scene was so poorly written.

After Aiden walks in to her apartment:

Carrie: Where's your luggage?

Aiden: Oh, I can't stay. I have to get back home

Cue to them sexing it up the rest of the night, laughing it up and having great sex and pillow talk. Aiden staying all night, gets up in the morning with no change of clothes or toothbrush (guess Carrie had a spare). What are we in high school? He wasn't in that much of a rush to get home. How ever did he explain to his boss Wyatt where he was all night?

MPK is 68 years old.  I don't think he is a fan of women so subconsciously (or consciously for all I know) he writes shitty stories.

In all my years watching SATC and now AJLT this storyline and in particular everything that was said and done after Aidan walked into her apartment might just be the worst I have ever seen.

Because I want to be Nya when I grow up, I am going to be a Nya apologist.

Nya was married a LONG TIME (and they were together a while before that), it’s been less than a year since she and Andre broke up, I could see how if you’ve been used to having someone, NOT having a partner would stick out a lot in your head or how you experience things. Nya has to grieve the breakdown of her and Andre’s relationship, which will take time. So in the totality of the circumstances her comment didn’t bother me. Seema on the other hand was weird, probably because we have barely seen this relationship and she could’ve headed to Egypt for a few weeks for a vacation with the guy and it not been an issue.

But I loved her and Carrie in Greece. That felt authentic. Charlotte still has kids at home, and Miranda is pursuing a new career path.
