If Kirsten is going to be evicted for saying the N word then they might as well have her stay on the block and get voted out.

Perhaps, if there's no eviction, the HOH comp will be bumped forward and we.can see the whole thing instead of the first few minutes of it.

Pure speculation on my part, but I suspect if Luke were a more dynamic person who was all in about playing the game, he would have been given "counseling" in the diary room and would still be in the house.

Wasn't Luke the one who wasn't even pretending to "hang on" during the Nether Region comp?  I'll bet that chapped some production hides.  I wonder if maybe he's not all that cooperative in the diary room either, won't play the producers little games of "Say that louder, make enthusiastic arm gestures, jump on the couch!"  so they're ditching him at the first opportunity.

I know production is hyper aware of all the scrutiny this current season will be under based on the online reactions to the rampant racism in the house the last several seasons.  They can't hide it anymore, but I have no doubt if Luke were a more intense player like Jackson Michie or Cody Calafiore, they'd figure out a way to keep him, zero tolerance policy or not.

My other thought is he was cast on purpose, knowing he'd do or say something they could "get" him on, thus could CBS publicly demonstrate how well their anti-racism protections are working.

I'm sure the hamsters sign pretty draconian NDAs prior to being cast on the show.  We'll see how well Luke adheres to that....

There was another clip I saw that happened a few minutes after Luke said the n-word last night, and it just makes me even happier he's gone.

Cory came back into the room and Luke interrupted Jared in order to passive-aggressively note that Cory seemed mad at him (Luke) and had "stormed out" earlier after he said the n-word. Luke then said that this hurt his feelings!   He must be a lot of work IRL.

I don't know if I see Grodner playing that kind of 3D chess. I think it's more of an Occam's Razor situation: trash show casts trash person who says trash thing because: trash, and trash producers boot him so they can say, "See? We're totally not trash."

Kirsten is just as much dead weight as Luke in terms of the overall cast so I think it’s a good thing they’ll both be out of the game. I doubt Kirsten will get to do a buy back into the house with this “new” video surfacing.

Huh. Big Brother actually did something when a HG did something wrong. Maybe I should take more time off from the show, things actually happen then.

... has anyone checked the temperature in Hell right now? Now that I live in the mountains again, I've got a garage full of rock salt if they need it. I don't mind. I'll lend you a cup of sugar, I am your neighbour.

Side note: is there really supposed to be another surprise HG coming in this season? I feel so disconnected from the BB world right now, I don't even know what the obvious fake rumours are anymore.

Yea, honestly it was everything afterwards that made Luke look even worse. Joking that he was gonna say 'narwhal.'

It was going around a lot there for a few days but it seemed to die down so I'm not sure. Plus, now with this ejection, who knows.

Also, the statement posted here about someone else being ejected was fake. Likely made up by someone on Twitter who didn't think Luke should be ejected.

I turn on the feeds to see two big gray and white rabbits, so my guess is feeds are down until after the show tonight. I think they don't want us to hear any conversation about the Luke fiasco.

My guess (again, totally a guess) is that someone saw that clip of Kirsten and assumed that she would be ejected, too. Although her saying it is completely different from Luke saying it, which probably why CBS let that one slide. But now that they’ve given Luke the boot, they’re probably very happy that Kirsten is also on her way out, so they don’t have to deal with people tweeting about unfair, inconsistent application of rules.

I see that feeds are still down. I assume they will stay down until at least after the live show. Any bets on whether they’ll just say we’ve had it with this shit, no more peeking behind the curtain?

I'm glad the Kristen ejection rumor is fake. I would not look forward to people not getting the difference between her and Luke using the n-word. (Although I suppose there could still be some grumbling from the bigots that it's "unfair.")

They won't. They make money from the feeds and that's all they care about. They also have the feeds on Pluto now for the first time, so more revenue.

Exactly. I feel pretty confident that rumor (which honestly I never even saw anywhere but here, like no one else even entertained it lol) was started by someone who just thinks it's wrong for Luke to be ejected so they wanted to pretend like they don't know why Kirsten wouldn't be also.

I think it's from the pressure of being HOH, wanting to be friends with everyone, and realizing that everyone isn't going to like you when yore HOH.  Cirie was consoling her earlier, and now she's explaining to Hisam that if one her son's were hurting that she would hope someone would look out for them.  Cirie wants Hisam to talk to Reilly tomorrow, although Reilly seems to be in better spirits now.

Yesterday, Felicia had to coach Hisam on how to say Cirie's name, and they're in the same alliance.  He keeps saying something like "Siri".

I really missed you guys and gals! Just returned to work this week and haven't had much time to post - I really am glad I found this place! BB Twitterverse is just all over the place and too many political/racist trolls for my liking. It's too big of a platform for me to enjoy.

My "mom" feelers were there (like Cirie) when Reilly broke down and had that big cry fest. I started tearing up, thinking what if that was my son or step-daughter put into that situation and I was watching from home? Mind you, I have been watching BB long before they came into my life, so I was not as empathetic watching these feeds as I am now. (I took a BB break for a couple of years and realize that I am watching with a completely different mindset now). But holy hell, after listening to her cry for three days straight, I am over it now.

Would they give her the boot because of this?

I've read that the broadcast tonight will address the incident; likely just showing the clip and explaining his boot, then moving on to some low-key hamster humour.

I can't imagine how exhausting it is for people of colour having to address this all the time, because it is exhausting for me (as a caucasion) trying to point this out (usually to younger people) in RL.

Cirie and Meme are getting annoyed with everyone. They can’t deal with the constant small talk about nothing. They don’t care what your favorite circular object is.

Cirie repeats this sentiment later with Jared and Izzy. On Survivor, it took much longer to get annoyed with everyone. Maybe it’s because the group is smaller? Even Bowie is getting on her nerves.

Cirie spoke about this at some length either last night, or night before last. In Survivor, contestants are apparently spread out all over the place - gathering food or firewood, hunting for idols, rinsing off in the surf, etc. - pretty much constantly; the only times they stay congregated together in a close pack is when they’re sleeping (and conversation is at an absolute minimum), or huddling under their shelter during storms.

So this constantly being surrounded by other people who (a) you cannot get away from and (b) are constantly talking about anything and EVERYTHING…? It’s royally rubbing Cirie the wrong way.  The BB environment is 180 degrees apart from Cirie’s Survivor experience, and the constant barrage of babble is driving her nuts.

I don't think not booting Kirsten is "unfair" but I agree with Candice (black woman) from Floribama Shore on this topic. Black folks shouldn't say it either, because it normalizes the word.

Then again, I'm so pale I'm basically transparent, so I acknowledge that my opinion on this topic doesn't mean much.

I don't watch the feeds, but do follow the discussion.  I just wanted to say how glad I am that CBS followed through on their policies and booted/evicted Luke.  I think for too many seasons they (the producers) were afraid to come down too hard on the houseguests, but I think it is really important to follow through and demonstrate that specific behaviors/talk/actions will not be tolerated.

I doubt they will show the incident. I think they will just show them being summoned in the living room by Alison who will inform them that Luke has used a word in the house that is not acceptable and he is removed from the game. Then we may see some HGs commenting against this behavior and we will go on.

She did, although I agree it was difficult to hear. And then made an expression like “whoops, shouldn’t have said that”. My pale skin totally disqualifies me from any discussion over whether she should use that word at all, but I don’t think anyone can deny that her saying it and Luke saying it are two ENTIRELY different things.

I’m glad Luke is gone. I really didn’t want to watch any more teachable moment bullshit, with the Black houseguests put in the uncomfortable position of telling the white racist assholes why they should not be white racist assholes.

I expect Julie will announce at the top of the show that Luke was removed from the house for violating show policies, or some such vagueness, and that will be that. Any mention of him, or scenes he’s in, will have been excised or cropped.

Jared almost blew it earlier. He was telling a story about his coaching yelling at him, saying “Fields! Fields!” But he quickly covered by saying “can you believe? He calls ‘yards’, ‘fields’!” Cirie doesn’t know whether to be horrified or laugh.

I, for one, think that small talk is very important. For the most part, BB is a social event and you can’t be social without talking to your fellow hamsters and engaging them in conversation. For me, there is too much game talk.  The thing that I dislike the most is when hamsters target other hamsters by making up lies about them.  I know that’s a big part of some hamsters game but I don’t appreciate it.  If Cirie and Meme even watch an hour of past BB seasons, they would know that small talk is a big part of the game and basically you are living in a cage where the only place you can get complete privacy is on the toilet.

I actually don't think so.

To give SOME credit to the show, lately when problematic things are said that need to be addressed, they ARE actually showing them in the episodes. Last season, they surprisingly showed all of Kyle's comments. And in past seasons, like with BB21 Jack and even going back to BB15 Aaryn, they did show theirs in their exits.

And they have no choice here; they 100% have to show the episode viewers why he's being booted. They'll show it, and probably show the other comments Luke has made off feeds (ie the sexist comments toward Reilly) to show why he had to be ejected from the show. I actually feel confident that they'll handle this without hiding anything...ok, without hiding much.

I am wondering what Cirie's reaction will be if/when she finds out that Luke's racism was directed towards Jared.  I love Cirie and I love that she wanted to play this game with her son, but this isn't what anyone signed up for.  And they are only on day 8 of a potential 100 days.

Luke did get kind of a "derpa-derp" edit on last night's show.  Lots of apparent awkward glances around from other hamsters while he was talking.  I can infer from that maybe it wasn't just his dropping the N-word in the house that has has him being awkward and weird and "off."  He may be that kind of person who is so far up their own butt they don't really know how to interact with others.  He's gonna regret that swaggering pose in that promo photo really fast.  Or not.  He may not care how he appears to others.

In the event TPTB actually stumbled into doing the right thing and launched Luke off the set, would that ejection give Felicia and Kirsten a pass for the week?

Given the current unfolding of circumstance, I withdraw this question; within the confines of this particular context, Production has painted itself into an uncomfortably small corner of its own making with its publicly stated (and IMHO overly simplistic) zero tolerance” policy.  Any action which could conceivably be interpreted as “bailing out” Kirsten would almost certainly subject TPTB to a veritable barrage of “double standard” questions, warranted or not - and I think we all know JUST HOW WELL this Production crew deals with such.

So I fully expect any such questions will be met with something like, “Well… if we’d known about Kirsten’s remarks beforehand then of course we would’ve taken appropriate action, whatever that may have been adjudicated to be - but we didn’t find out about THAT sound bite until too late, and Kirsten has already been evicted, so….”   🙄

While I agree that Kirsten saying it and Luke saying it are two completely different things, I think from a "legal" standpoint, if it is their policy then they need to treat it equally across the board.

That being said, I am very disturbed by the judgement that Jared is getting regarding his reaction to Luke (on other boards and twitter).  His reaction is HIS reaction.  He is entitled to feel how he wants to feel about it, and he can treat it how HE wants to treat it.  That is not our call to make.

What, you’re saying people are jumping to judgey conclusions? That is so … not shocking.

I actually think Jared’s chuckle and comment of “I don’t give a fuck” could be read two different ways. It could mean “that doesn’t bother me”, OR it could mean “I see who you are now, but I’ve dealt with this crap all my life and you are not worth dealing with right now.”

I had the second interpretation, but either way, as you say, nobody has the right to tell him how to feel. (Except maybe his mama, lol.)

Was it, though?  Because watching the vid clip I had the distinct impression Luke’s comment was directed towards Cory - in the sort of offhand hey-ain’t-I-cool demonstration of culture-appropriating behavior so often displayed by the DoucheBro Dragoons.

Jared was definitely in the room, no question - on the bed off (IIRC) Luke’s right shoulder - but it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if, in directing his comments towards a fellow fratbro, Luke slipped up and forgot this wasn’t a safely-cloistered frat house convo.  Luke has never struck me as the sharpest knife in the drawer, in any case.

(And no, in no way am I trying to excuse Luke’s bullshit - just trying to figure some way to explain such a colossally boneheaded blunder.  It totally defies logic.)

And P. S.: I could be totally wrong in my recollection of who was where - in which case, ignore this entirely.

Lots of TV conflicts tonight--Project Runway, Big Brother, The Challenge USA, and Vikings football. So the plan was to watch Bog Brother and The Challenge. So what do I do at 8:00? This 1st week has been a massive fail. Let’s count the ways. They had Frankie et al perform a poorly acted skit of scrambling the house. This was followed by some pretty bad opening challenges. Then they introduce Cirie into the game without having her go through the same playing field as the other 16. Then there’s Luke. Then the live episode just left us hanging clueless. But most importantly, there’s been more down feeds than live action, so how are we supposed to engage with this season. I doubt their live feeds subscription has gone up even with more viewing channels. Not good business or entertainment, BB.

Feeds are back - I'm not sure how long they've been back up, I was just checking between loads of laundry.

Reddit is reporting Hisam as the HoH who is currently basketless and roomless and Jared went to Grod's office the Nether Regions. The HGs were told by Production to stay awake for something.

The HGs seem to think noms are tomorrow.

Sounds like Cameron got really pissy because it was the Professors and Jared who were the F6 (I think that's Cirie, Felicia, Hisam, Bowie, Izzy, and Mecole?) and America rolled her eyes so now Izzy or someone is annoyed at her.

Also Cameron was talking to Reilly and decided that they should push Cory and America's names (oh, I guess America isn't part of their group lol) so Hisam puts them up instead. I think he also threw out Felicia as another pawn, just as Hisam was telling Felicia she's safe.

Jared's in the nether; he was in the final round with Hisam (I guess the comp was looking at clues and opening the right door?) and he was gone all night.
