I agree! Although (unlike Miss Spears's notorious case of parental greed and exploitaiton), I do think it's likely that Mr. Wilson has needed someone to ensure that his basic needs are being met and that he's well cared for despite his aging and galloping dementia. Poor Mr. Wilson had had a rough start then got badly exploited by a live-in shrink by the name of Landry for too many years. I only hope he got to have some peaceful years with his recently deceased last spouse Melinda Ledbetter Wilson before she became his caretaker. What's especially tragic here is that, no doubt, she left this world unsure of what was to become of her tormented spouse in his twilight  that she'd spent so much time and effort advocating for.

P.S. Does anyone else wonder why his managers and not his adult children by his first wife  filed for the Conservatorship?

Yep, ol Dr Landy. He’s been through the wringer already. I was lucky enough to see him perform “Pet Sounds” in 2015, and it was amazing!

RIP Wilhelmina Wiggins Fernandez.  I'm not an opera person, but "Diva" was one of my favorite movies.

Diva was the first foreign language movie I ever watched. So sad about Wilhelmina Wiggins Fernandez. She was brilliant in Diva, probably one of the reasons I kept watching foreign language films.

Another far-too-young loss - Canadian actor Chris Gauthier has passed at age 48. I remember him best as Vincent, the cafe proprietor on Eureka and Smee from Once Upon A Time, but he has a long list of roles on (mainly Vancouver-based) shows like Smallville (as the Toyman), Supernatural, Harper's Island, Reaper and many more. #RIP

I didn't recognize his name but as some as I saw the picture I knew him from Harper's Island. Although I really didn't like the ending to that show, I did enjoy it up til that point. 48 is really young to pass away :(

Dan Wilcox, writer for MASH passed away. Any recent MASH documentary, you saw him being interviewed.  Loved his writing for MASH. He got his start on Sesame Street. He was 82.

It's weird. I watch MASH so often that the names on those credits become almost friends.

Thanks for the laughter Dan.

Charles Dierkop was a real 'Hey it's that guy!' actor in the 70's and 80's.  He appeared in so many TV shows and films that it's hard to not know his face.  He often played gangsters and thugs due to his 4 times broken nose.  Notably, he was a regular on Police Woman with Angie Dickenson for a while and did  both The Sting and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid with Newman and Redford.

I'm so happy for them!

The goofy sweet caption in the second picture, about giving their cats some responsibility so they're giving them each a baby?  That's the kind of silly thing that says a lot about what kind of people they are, and I totally love them for it.  Wishing all the best to them, the cats, and the babies on the way.

I'm not familiar with either of them (I know she was a breakout star with Precious, but I somehow never got around to watching that), so I just scrolled past; I'm glad you posted this, because I went back and read that caption -- cute!

I liked him and Jamie Lee Curtis in the series but mostly associate him with the utterly silly caper Once Upon a Crime that I have watched far too many times.

I loved that series with him and Jamie Lee. I didn't catch it until the early 90's when Lifetime aired it for awhile even though there weren't enough episodes for syndication. I wasn't even a teen yet but there was something about it I really enjoyed. Looking back I think it may have been that even though Richard's character was eccentric like he was IRL Jamie Lee's character and others accepted him in what felt like a more organic way then what would happen in other TV shows at the time.

Richard always came across like he was a nice guy IRL too.

Something is tugging at my memory about him being ill during ABL, maybe?

It was during that time he was hospitalized following an overdose, which scared him into sobriety.  Maybe that's what you're remembering?

This article (People) has Jamie Lee Curtis's Instagram post about his death; here's the text of it:

Quote

I've just read that my friend Richard Lewis has died. I remember exactly where I was when I saw a billboard of him about a stand up special on Sunset Boulevard when we were casting the ABC pilot Anything But Love and asked the casting people to bring him in to audition to play my best friend/maybe boyfriend, Marty Gold. I thought he was handsome. He made me laugh, which is the one thing that a strong, capable woman, can't really do for herself. He got the part when I snort laughed when he mispronounced the word Bundt cake. He blew everyone else away It was a love triangle show and they didn't pick up that pilot but they came back to me and said that the chemistry with Richard was so great and could we revamp the original pilot which is the show we ended up making for a couple years. He was also a stand-up comic and hated the live audience, where I, who had never done a play, loved it. He used to hide his lines everywhere on the set, on props, door frames, on my face in a close up and was always carrying a clipboard with his lines on them. It turns out he was a wonderful actor. Deep and so freaking funny.

We went through the death of our friend and costar, Richard Frank, together and grieved the loss of our producer and friend, John Ritter. Richard's last text to me, was hoping that I could convince ABC/Disney to put out another boxed set of episodes of the show.
He also is the reason I am sober. He helped me. I am forever grateful for him for that act of grace alone. He found love with Joyce and that, of course, besides his sobriety, is what mattered most to him. I'm weeping as I write this. Strange way of saying thank you to a sweet and funny man. Rest in laughter, Richard. My Marty, I love you, Hannah!

As an aficionado of the original Perry Mason TV series, I recognize Anne Whitfield from a favorite episode: The Case of the Crafty Kidnapper (with an appearance by Cloris Leachman too!) May Ms. Whitfield rest in peace.

She really had an amazing life.  To hike the Dolomite Mountains of the Italian Alps to celebrate her 85th birthday was quite the feat.

The Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers has died aged 66. He'd been treated for cancer over the past couple of years, and recorded the last season of the show while undergoing treatment.

I never really watched The Hairy Bikers because I couldn't access it, but I knew of the show and loved what little I saw of them.

I'm currently watching The Hairy Bikers: Coming Home for Christmas, filmed after Dave finished treatment.  It's just lovely and such a tribute to both men and to their friendship, and also a celebration of his very genuine gratitude and admiration for the nurses and physios of the NHS .  I'm shedding an awful lot of tears though, knowing of his recent death.

I loved Richard Lewis. I first saw him in Anything but Love. He had so many great roles but especially in Robin Hood Men in Tights. He was so hilarious as Prince John. I love when he makes Sheriff of Nottingham tell him the bad news in a good way so it doesn't sound so bad. The poor sheriff tries only to get yelled for it.

Man.

My nerdy black ass used to watch him in the projects of tough North Philadelphia when he was on the Carol Burnett Show, and I had such a crush on him.

Mr. Yogi has shared many a time how him, his sister and mother were in a restaurant when they were teens when all of a sudden, Steve and Eydie walked by them.  Mr. Yogi's mother (who apparently did not have a filter) yelled out "STEVE AND EYDIE!", embarrassing both him and his sister.

The funny thing was, they not only came to their table but spoke with his mother for a good bit, appreciating the fact that she was such a huge fan of theirs.

And now they're reunited at long last....rest well, sir!

What's interesting is that while Steve (Sidney Liebowitz) and Eydie (Edith Gorme/Gormezano) were both Jewish, they had a somewhat unusual union in that he was of an Ashkenazic (or Eastern European) background while she had been Sephardic ( Spanish via  the Mediterranean and  Middle East) though both were born in NYC!

More importantly, they had great affection for each other and mutual admiration for each other's talent to the end.

Hopefully, his mind is restored and they're now reunited! RIP, Mr. Lawrence.

P.S. On a shallow note they each were quick striking in their day!
