That was Adrian Pasdar (villain Nathan Petrelli in Heroes) playing the chief CIA off-book villain, right?

I wouldn't know where to begin if I were inclined to comment further.

It was all crazy and super unrealistic, even for a TV show.
Simone and Nolan were going to "first" go get drunk? No IA interviews after firing weapons?

This Simone character is SO annoying... SO annoying. It is not just her voice, it is her whole persona. "I am not doing this, I am not doing that, I know better than all of you", does she even understand how low enforcement works? Except if she has watched a lot of Hawaii 5-0 and thinks that's the normal.
Hell, she even makes Bailey look nice. Btw, great disappointment, since this week we only saw Bailey just as a firefighter.. of course automatically appearing when Nolan is in trouble. She must be tracking his phone, right? right? Right!

So I dunno if there will be a Simone show but there is no way I would watch this, except maybe if they tone her down a lot. A LOT.

You've never heard of a joke? A humorous comment made in jest to relieve a stressful situation.

Thank God that's over.  I hated it.  I would never watch that spin off ..even if I was paid.  I laughed when I saw Bailey.  I also think it's her with tons of makeup on some Dance Show.  I think she's a judge.

I cannot stand the Simone character's voice.  Just for that I could never watch.

I laugh at the idea that the FBI would be all in on her.  If she was on the FBI show on CBS she would have been fired.

Yes, as soon as I saw his name in the credits, I was like, what type of villain is he playing this time?, lol.

Yes, that's her.  Which is probably why we haven't seen her as much as we could on The Rookie.

I also like Niecy Nash but this is beyond suspending disbelief.  If they've shot a pilot already for this, I hope they took serious notes and readjusted.  Otherwise, I'm not sure what they are hoping to do with this.

As for getting back to normal on The Rookie, eh, I am not looking forward to anymore Lucy/Tim drama...

  • Love 6

I enjoyed it and as with the first episode the beefed up FBI office seemed to be okay. I am with Simone not wanting to sit at a computer screen while a Jubal yelled at the floor. Another version of The Rookie with a different cast being no different than a different city's CSI or 9-1-1. Especially since tThe Rookie has dropped the LAPD seemingly real cultural touches along the way.

The CIA being so concerned about something while bombs were going off on people they joined up to protect never rang true. As well as MId_Wilshire's watch commander is seemingly the Sheriff, the Chief of Police. I was hoping for an appearance by the Postal Police that the Special Agent in Charge called in.

Of course while soldiers spent their deployments without a hint of love a young Tim was able to hook up with a hot young CIA officer who also just happens to be in Los Angeles while in Afghanistan. Now that she is burned at the CIA I guess she joins the FBI. And Simone's dad happened to be acquainted with the detectives husbands

CBS Come Dance With Me, the NCIS:LA partners LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell brought to us with parents dancing with their child. She is the only person I recognize. It has replaced Undercover Boss in the death timeslot.

Except I was sure Baley would be the bomb specialist.

Oh man.  Me too!  But when they finally showed her face, I was like....wait?....what?  That's not her?  The writers are slipping....  She could have even legit been National Guard's version of the Bomb Squad as part of her MP duties, and plausibly called out for this.

Except............she wasn't still on her National Guard duty at that time.  Somehow Bailey went from the day before being "on National Guard duty all week" per Nolan to being on shift at her fire department job just so she could be in the responding unit to Nolan and Simone's crash.  That is the writers messing with us.  They're not even trying anymore.

Competent Smitty.  Oh my stars!  Even Sergeant Grey was surprised.

I liked the conversation between Simone and the kid, even though it was highly suspect and not OK.  I liked the conversation between Simone and her dad when he broke the Russian snack bar clue.  I liked the conversation between Simone and the other FBI agent in the car.  That other agent clearly set up the premise for the new show: a very special FBI team that can be all touchie-feelie and use Simone's great emphathic insights.  Sigh.  Maybe it won't be as bad as it sounds?

My favorite part was when Nolan and Bradford doubled down on the CIA by bringing bigger guns to the knife fight.  They sure screwed over that CIA agent, they totally burned her.  Even though that was in the direction of goodness and light, it was still kind of rough on the agent.  Oh well, maybe she'll find her place of healing in the new very special FBI team.

Of course Simone was James' first crush. Ugh.

At least James said she was a few years ahead of him in high school, but IRL, Arjay Smith (James) is 38, and on the show Simone is 48, right?
I know. I know. Just handwave. Sprinkle my keyboard with Forgettium.

More interesting(?), I noticed one of the extras (I think a bad guy/CIA) is played by an actor with the name of Sam Pancake.
Apparently that's his real name.

I usually like this show, but is it really popular enough to merit a spin-off?

Regardless, I really disliked these last two episodes and won't be watching the spin-off if it gets picked up, which it probably will.

It is the trend. We have Chicago night, FBI night, Law & Order night, NCIS night, 9-1-1 night.. With Shonda night getting old ABC must be looking for a replacement franchise.

Wow. That was bad in an epic way.  This new pilot character is so obnoxious she's almost punchable.  She does what she wants when she wants to and lectures everyone who comes in contact with her about how she and only she knows best and sees the big picture.  I can't even with her.

And then the plot itself was dumb. The interagency shenanigans and chest puffing was ridiculously old school.

Can you imagine the number of people who had to sign off on this thing to get it to where we saw it last night?  It boggles. That's a whole lotta way over paid people out of their freakin' minds.

My husband who is a cop says Smitty is the only realistic thing on this show; every station has a Smitty. I like Niecy but I get tired of people who are trainees and yet insist they know more than everyone else. Being a former guidance counselor doesn’t prepare you for every situation.

No that should be reserved for former general building contractors 😄

Nope. Nope, nope, nope!

I said I'd give it a chance to improve in part two, but sadly, it didn't. The character of Simone is terrible, the concept of her super-power being that she once counseled some kids, and the suggestion that any one of her shenanigans would have been tolerated by the FBI trainee program is simply beyond even suspended disbelief.  NN may have a great part somewhere in her near future and I hope she finds it soon, but this isn't it.

I pray this is not green-lit due to some notion of optics, or about a new "rookie" being needed now Nolan is not so much a "rookie" any more, or any crap like that.

And just in passing, the FBI trainee who has a father that is leader of the local chapter of the "Defund The Police" movement? Sorry, not even the talents of Frankie Faison could make that work as anything other than sad!

You know, when I saw the robot withdrawing and the bomb disposal woman going forward, I thought "So, did Bailey learn that in the mysterious orient?"

But I wasn't too wrong, because when Nolan & Simone crashed the car, Bailey appeared like magic!

Is she the only firefighter in L.A.? It reminds me of Nolan's last girlfriend who was seemingly the only doctor in L.A.

I didn't mind Niecy Nash's character as much as some of you but her total disregard for the chain of command seemed way over the top even for this show, which is saying a lot.

🤷‍♂️ Just like Sergeant Grey is the only police supervisor and Detective Lopez's Lieutenant has disappeared.

must be stalking her cop boyfriend to end up at every scene he is at?

I haven't been watching this show for a while, but still visits this sub for the comments.

To me, it seems Bailey has been turned into some sort of stalker who follows Nolan everywhere. That's pretty ridiculous.

Also, was it ever mentioned that she's now divorced, or is she still married to her nutty ex?

I think it might've been mentioned that the divorce went through?

Villain or not, he has some mighty fine bone structure. Still a handsome guy.

Is it just me, or is the actor looking better, more trim and kind of good looking? Or is it just the competence making him look better?

I’d love to know who the hell thought we needed to be browbeaten with two hours of such an insufferable character . If there is a god that show will not be made. If it is made, we’ll be subjected to crossover eps, ugh.

I like Niecy Nash, but in extremely small doses. As for cross-overs, I never watch cross-over shows. None. They are always with shows I don't watch, and I resent being forced to watch two shows to get the whole story. Kinda like I resented two shows about this story.

That being said, Nolan did want to learn, and though he had life experience that helped, he didn't think everyone else was an idiot who wouldn't listen to him. I suppose he did go off on an adventure or two - it's too long ago for me to remember. Maybe I was distracted by my affection for Fillion.

I almost didn't watch this episode, it took me this long to watch it. But, other than crossover shows, I am a completionist, so I struggled through it.
