KittyQ October 14, 2021 Share October 14, 2021 I think Sunny stepped in it - not interested in understanding (Trump, anti-vaxxer, etc.) perspective. It sounds as though she only wants to hear from people who think what she thinks. That is not the way to either learn why people are passionate about positions that differ from yours OR give you an opportunity to persuade them to consider your perspective. This position she took sounds like a very closed mind to me. 5 Link to comment

Changing someone's perspectives doesn't often happen in a split second, though. It can take time for ideas to sink in and take root. Understanding why someone feels so differently from ourselves can give us insight into what in their world is missing or wrong. It can be a chance to see what changes can or should be made. I thought that Sara and Sherri (!) were willing to give people the chance to share information in a respectful way. 4 Link to comment

And people are, well human. They are allowed to have opinions or how they feel about things. And they can also, you know, evolve, when they better understand or learn about the topic. And Katie can just fuck the right off. 20 minutes ago, KittyQ said: I think Sunny stepped in it - not interested in understanding (Trump, anti-vaxxer, etc.) perspective. I understand not wanting to deal with the whackadoodle, crazies, but there are some people--otherwise sane people--who are woefully misinformed about the vaccine. I'm not going to lump them in with the conspiracy theorists, or idiots. For instance: I have an online friend (we met through our love for an author years ago), who thinks because she had Covid and survived, she doesn't need the vaccine and the vaccines don't work because now there is a third shot. And her employer is mandating she get vaccinated or retire. She's not a conspiracy theorist, but clearly she's misinformed. She's not crazy. I'm just hoping she'll listen to the science and get vaccinated. And I'm surprised that Sunny doesn't know that there are people out there, who can't get the vaccine because it's contraindicated due to their own medical conditions. Especially considering that she herself was hesitant to get the vaccine, I'm surprised at her militant stance on this. 6 Link to comment

I’m basing this on the fact that she knows the law and knows these are legitimate exceptions to even the employer mandates. (On a side note, because of my job I’m dealing with this issue now and it’s a mess!). I think she’s sick of the science denying anti-vaxxers, and I don’t blame her! No one should be subjected to that kind of thing. You have my sympathy for having to work in those conditions. I'm not in a position like yours, but I have had to tell people that if they are interested in getting me to change my mind or do what they want, the worst way to do it is to scream at me, insult me, or harass me because that will only convince me that I'm right and they are wrong. It doesn't matter what the issue is, if someone's idea of communication is yelling, I would consider the "conversation" over. If they want to talk calmly and civilly, I'm willing to at least hear them out and think about it. 1 3 Link to comment

I don't work in a hospital or doctor's office, but I am a home health aide. Just this morning, I was at a client's house when the Meals on Wheels guy came to the door. I'm really not someone who's forceful with my views, but I thought it was okay to ask this one coworker who is a work friend if he'd gotten vaccinated. He's apparently super touchy about this issue. He's someone who'll ask all sorts of personal questions-my love life, how much stuff I have costs, etc. He's also the type to get way TMI with his own shit-serious problems in his family, his addictions, sex life, etc. But no, do not ask him if he's gotten vaccinated because that's private! Thankfully she outlasted that POS. This is why the show is better for it, too, you see this nuance in the panelists. On many issues, Sunny is the most liberal one there, even further than Joy on some things, and then on others, she is one of the most conservative. I think someone joked that S.E. KittyQ October 15, 2021 Share October 15, 2021 It is probably a losing proposition for Jonah Hill (or any celebrity) to ask that people not comment on his body, good or bad. People will comment on anyone they see as having money and fame. In a way, Sherri is right, asking for that is just giving the signal that it makes a difference to you and anyone who wants to bug you is going to do that. Maybe if they don't put pictures on Instagram and other social media the attention will diminish. As for "regular people" - I think it is best not to make comments on a person's appearance, unless it is a special case (bride at a wedding, for example). Don't make a remark about something that a person can't do anything about (or can't do anything easily). Compliments can be positive, but you have to be careful not to make them sound something like, "Oh good, you are finally looking good!" :-) 2 Link to comment

Trust me, I've heard enough JR to know he can be stupid and do damage. He's the most famous podcaster, so I wish he'd be more responsible with his platform. But I don't think he's a bad person the way Sunny seems to. On another note, Patina Miller is strikingly beautiful, wow. Edited October 15, 2021 by RealHousewife 4 Link to comment

I think it’s to hang your glasses. Just kidding. I really don’t need to listen to 3 hours of the civil discussion after hearing him suggest getting the virus then the vaccine. I also don’t understand giving the number of listeners as some kind of proof of his intelligence. So what? Years and years ago someone used to say to me FoxNews was the number one news show with highest rating or viewers. So all listeners are Einsteins ? 1 6 1 Link to comment

I'm still baffled that the guy I used to watch on NewsRadio has people who look to him for political information. It's even worse when they are going to him for medical advice! 1 5 Link to comment

I don't think Sunny is a snob in conventional terms of money and class, but her education and previous job as a prosecutor. When someone doesn't have equally impressive credentials, she seems to minimize the validity of their opinions. 2 4 Link to comment

She just can't stand bigotry and ignorance. I can't stand bigotry either, but I'm more forgiving when it comes to ignorance. I just think we're all ignorant to a degree, even someone as smart and educated as Sunny. I am however less forgiving than Sunny when it comes to a stank attitude. There's no way I would have been as friendly with MM as she was. Yes, I remember that. We can all disagree with our friends, but I don't think I'd ever just be like "he's wrong" on TV like that, even if that's how I felt. For sure! Imho, and i could be waaaay off, but i think Sunny was playing a bit of the `go along to get along' game, knowing the end was near. Re: Joe Rogan, whoever mentioned News Radio, you were so spot on! Where did the geeky nerdy TINY guy go? And i love me a geeky nerd hah. Why not wrap it all in one lol. Back to Joe. Amazing what some strength training can do lol 1 1 Link to comment
