THIS is precisely why these people have remained single. Marriage is compromise. If you have the same morals and values and goals for family and finances, and hopefully find the other person attractive then that is what matters. They all need to grow up.

And.... to the people that find going to bed without showering nasty, I find nothing wrong with showering in the morning. I personally find waking up after 8 hrs of sleep funk on you, then going straight to work or what ever your day brings without showering is more gross. I like to be clean and shampooed before presenting myself to the world.

What is sleep funk? If I'm literally just sleeping, what funk is on me?

I do wash up before going to work. But, a full blown shower because I slept. OK. In the other hand, being in public, working out, being around other people, dealing with germs and not properly washing, to me, is gross.

Neither are bad people for feeling the way they feel but you want to feel comfortable and safe I'm the place where you live. Where you sleep. I can't knock Johnny for it. I can knock a lot of nitpicking but not this.

do wonder about Bao's three broken engagements and what went wrong with the relationships.  I'm not saying it's her fault because we don't know, but there's a seemingly fake, childlike innocence about her that's kind of off-putting, even though she seems nice on the surface.

It seems like Bao read a book on how to act and she comes across as robotic to me. I do think she’s sweet and deserves a good man, but that man isn’t Johnny. He’s too much into himself.

7 minutes of show, 12 commercials.  I counted.  Ridiculous!

Myrla is outrageous.  Designer shoes and bags .. too many in one year.  Pictures of herself all over her apartment.  Hates just about everything.  Gil might think it’s cute now, but after awhile he won’t.  She’s too materialistic.

Jose would drive me nuts with the money situation.

Johnny has to chill.  Some people shower at night, some in the morning.  That’s Byo’s prerogative.

Brett is easy to get along with.  I hope the dogs get along.

Michaelina has a bad temper.  She will be a problem.  He looks too nice for her.  I take this back.

I'm one of those heathens that showers in the morning.  A shower at night would wake me up.  I learned through Mindy and Zach's season that I'm disgusting. ;)

I would think there'd be some thought by these youngsters that showering 2-3 times every day is wasting water?  Not to mention harsh on your skin, hair?

He also held Rachel's torso while they were walking into a bedroom, like he was steering her. I don't know how she doesn't elbow him in the gut when he does that shit. Controlling her movement like that is such a red flag that he doesn't view her as an equal, autonomous individual.

Guess Jose has never heard the term “personal space.” And she’s not a kid. She doesn’t need to be steered.

@Boo Boo, I was thinking the same thing about wasting water.

Both sides are making a pretty good argument, I might switch to 2 showers a day myself! 😂

I agree with Johnny,  shower before you go to bed. In fact shower as soon as you get home.  You can't be around people all day long and not wash their germs off, especially during COVID. I believe the hygiene issue was a deal breaker for Johnny.

I feel like Gil is on the verge of blowing up at Myrla. She's too materialistic for Gil. Jose needs to understand that you can save and travel internationally. He's extremely rigid.  Rachel and Gil might have been a better match .

Michaela needs grief counseling, not a marriage.

Exactly!  If I knew anyone where I live (New Mexico) that showered 3 times a day,  I'd have something to say about it.  Completely irresponsible.

Myrla is a princess.

Michaela is a nutters who I wouldn't sleep next to for fear she might harm me in my sleep.

I can't get over Brett's lack of a bra and her mouth.

Jose is controlling and seems like he could easily become obsessed with his wife or girlfriend.  The way he kept his hand on the small of Rachel's back when they first entered (her or their) apartment was off putting.  Also, the way he insisted on five kisses in one scene.

Ryan.  Does he ever smile.  He always has a creepy look on his face.  Reminds me of guys who think it is weak to show emotion.

Johnny wants to constantly smile and often tries to hide it.  A nervous smile, it seems.

Bao is too much in her own head.

Zach seems nice enough.

Gil also seems nice enough, but I can't forgive him for the dog ear thing.  Also can't get past the way he talks.

Rachel talks soooo slooowww.  Girl, hurry up.

MichAela needs to take it down a few notches . Why couldn’t she just say to her husband , “ I’d really appreciate it if when you leave the house , just give me a heads up.” Why was she flipping out like a looney ? It’s week one of you guys being together . You shouldn’t let your crazy side come out until at least week 3.

I didn’t know Bao was engaged 3 times before Johnny . I think at that point , the common denominator for things going wrong is you. Once, okay .. twice , eh .. but three times .. oy .

Gil is attractive but his voice or way of talking turns me off . I do appreciate his willingness to go along with this charade and give us a good laugh for making fun of Myrla . Speaking of Myrla , how is she NOT Mariah Carey ? Looks, voice and personality .

Ryan looks like an actual serial killer . He is one creepy looking guy and legit never smiles .

Also, shout out to the demanding-hair, dry-skin ladies.  I know showering is not "just" a 5-minute event when you have to deal with either washing and drying long or curly hair, or putting it in a shower cap which means creases and tangles and damp edges, plus the whole moisturizing routine and waiting for the Eucerin to absorb so you're not all sticky...

So when I don’t wash my hair (Black woman, natural curly hair so washing it daily is a no-no. My hair is mid-back-length) my showers are 5 minutes. Just the washing. However, I spend at least that much time applying lotion and  sunscreen on exposed skin, which I do 365 days a year regardless of weather, and then toner, serum, eye cream, and moisturizer on my face and neck. My face skin is oily; my body skin is dry.

When I have to wash my hair? That takes much longer, and I have totally stretched out washing it because it’s more work than I feel like doing. I generally wash it twice a week but I’ve definitely been tired enough to be like “you know what, wash day can be tomorrow, I can go one more day with this bun.”

"old friends reconnect and find love," with each passing episode it's feeling more like "aging fuckboy finds himself trapped in marriage with socially awkward college acquaintance he ghosted."

And it seems like the ghosting happened within the past few years if Bao still had the texts, meaning they already had the opportunity to reconnect and Johnny wasn't interested.

Bingo!

You have hit the nail on the head on why this pairing was doomed from the start

Hopefully Maisie and Baxter will get used to each other but they’re both adorable. I like the dogs better than the cast.

There are wonderful online articles about introducing your dog to another dog.  I selected one that I thought might be helpful to these MAFS couples who all seem to genuinely love their pups.

https://www.naturaldogblog.com/blog/2007/09/dog-training-how-to-introduce-your-dog-to-another-dog-in-ten-easy-steps/

I've done some dog training over the years, and it's very rewarding when you see dogs making new friends and becoming a loving pack.  🐶🐩

P.S.  Your dog so quickly picks up YOUR vibes and energy, so try and be as "chill" as you can when introducing potential new canine buddies.

similarly Jose grew up working class, paycheck to paycheck, and he wants to  feel secure that he can provide for himself and his family if the worst happened.

Johnny has a small point. Bao seems to become very anxious in intimate situations and she seems to revert to a little girl personality. She's quite adult at other times. I see Johnny's point. Maybe Bao has to confront that in herself, Johnny was brave enough to express his feelings.

Zack was 100% in the wrong. EOS.

Johnny has issues.

As does Jose. He and fellow sensible ant Gil should live together, be thrifty, and save money.

The grasshoppers, Myrla and Rachel, should live together, spend how they like, and vacation in Europe.

I don't know -- when we get nervous about something, we can react differently than our usual selves.  I mean, this is forced intimacy -- she is still trying to get to know him and build a foundation before the mad passionate sex.

I've said before about this topic, I'm not talking about people who sweat in their sleep or engage in adult activities. I'm talking about people who just sleep and wake up. There is no funk on me I need a whole shower to wash off. Coming home from work? Yes I do.

One thing about this show is true. It shows you that you may have more dealbreakers than you think. But, it wouldn't have even dawned on me to have to worry about getting a partner who freely skips days of showering and enjoys hopping into bed, dirt be damned.

If you are going on this show, you need to be very bendable in terms of what you can take and what you can't.

Gil kissing Hype set back that kiss from Myrla about 5 light-years! Hype was charming, though, trying to give Myrla his paw. Can't see the two humans staying together, though. Money. Dog. Physical appearance.

Nobody who lives alone---even if they are 80s freaks!---should be judged too harshly on the state of their domicile. That said, Ryan, your place is awesome, but please take down that deer head! 🦌 So not an aphrodisiac.

I really don't think it's fair to assume Gil was involved in the ear cropping. I think it's most likely that whoever bred the puppies is the one who docked the ears. I doubt Gil picked up scissors and did it himself and most reputable vets won't do it. Our pit mix had docked ears (but a full tail for some reason) and people would sometimes give us ugly looks. Had they asked, I would have explained that he was a rescue and his ears were like that when we got him. I also have a lab/boxer mix with a docked tail. It's cute but we did it because the tip of her tail kept splitting and getting infected. The only really effective treatment for that is to dock the tail. It was done by a vet who put her under anesthesia, gave her appropriate pain medication and made sure she healed properly. So things aren't always as they seem when dogs have docked ears and tails.

Michaela needs some serious therapy. Not from Pepper, either. Zach, she did say she texted you. WTF? The moment she basically called him a liar was the death knell, sorry, Pastor Cal.

Jose could not be less attractive, but I’m glad he and Johnny have found each other. So, happy for Rachel and Bao, they both deserve better.

Looks like Gil may have settled for getting the good guy story and lots of dates after this train wreck.

In the previews Jose and Johnny were much closer than we have ever seen Johnny and Bao!! what an intense embrace! I was enraged when he told Pastor Cal her giddiness was a turn off!!! he is making absolutely zero effort to accept her or to please her.  He cares only about looking bad on TV,  but that ship has sailed!

No but it's a big part of why people shower!  Plus look at Bao, she looks clean all the time.  Even her hair.  So I think he's making a much bigger deal out if it than necessary.  She was responding to his over-rigidity with a "what if" situation that would probably not happen that often.  She said something like "What if I was dead tired and didn't feel up to it?"  She didn't mean she would do that all the time.  I don't blame her for reacting that way.  He's got to learn to be more flexible, and that's why she asked that question, because she knows he's being too rigid.  Is he going to be like Sheldon Cooper and put her on a bathroom schedule?  I'd tell him to GTFO.

One of the things that disturbs me about Michaela is that she lied. She told Zach that she would not leave when they had an argument. He’s gone for a couple hours and while he is gone, she packs up and leaves.

On Unfiltered Zack said that he texted her that he was going to the doggy daycare after he left in the morning and she responded, plus he had told her he was going to do it the night before.  So if we are to believe him (and I see no reason why not at this point) she was lying about that too because she said she called and texted him but got no response.

I personally find waking up after 8 hrs of sleep funk on you, then going straight to work or what ever your day brings without showering is more gross. I like to be clean and shampooed before presenting myself to the world.

I'm with you on both counts.  I think the fact that the show made a point this season to choose mostly people that are about 35 years old is part of the reason they're all so picky and unwilling to compromise.  People say it's because you get set in your ways by the time you're that age.  Well perhaps, but if they weren't so set in their ways when they were younger they would be paired up in LTRs by now.  So many of these people seem to be serial daters and have not had that many LTRs.

And I agree with you - I am a morning shower person, always have been.  Especially when you sleep for 6-8 hours with another hot sweaty person you will need a shower in the a.m.  I never felt confident at work if I didn't shower in the morning.  It helps to get me energized and fresh to face the public.  Also, washing and blow drying my hair at night doesn't work for me, especially when I was younger and my hair and scalp were oilier.  After a night sleeping on my hair it would not feel clean by morning.  My hair would look stringy and greasy for sure.  So there are good reasons to shower in the a.m. and you can't expect everyone to shower twice a day.  Showering too often is not good for the skin and will promote premature dry skin and wrinkles.  Our bodies also need the bacteria that live on our skin and washing too much will disturb the delicate balance of our skin's makeup and cause more problems for us than maybe allowing a little good bacteria to live on us.

And this is coming from someone that considers themselves a big germaphobe too!

Myrla, get your hair curled or bumped or something. Please.

Bao, wash your azz before bed. I feel like her scalp may smell. Who doesn't shower after working out?

Johnny did  in fact ghost her years ago because he wasn't digging her. That hit me last week. He's no prize either so....

Gil is just CORNY to me.  He seems to be a nice guy.

Mikaela. Girl. That's why they call us angry and claim that's why our men don't want us.  I cringed when you cursed at him. No Bueno. Also, no man needs to pay the price cuz your daddy died. My dad who was very much married to my mom and lived with and took care of all us kids died when I was a child and no man in my life has ever had to bear the brunt of his death. I know you loved him and he was the best father in the world cuz he helped you when your car broke down *insert eyeroll* but you looked a bit cuckoo carrying on and sobbing like a child last night.

Zach, you fell asleep with your dog and left out first thing in the morning? Lol, you saw her crazy off camera and you dipped. Something was left out. You are not that into her.

Brett, do you wear a bra to the gym at least?

Ryan. I like when he wears a shirt.

Rachel gets me down sometimes because she sure knows how to drop that lower lip and pout.  Also,  woman, stop it with the 4 alarms. Get your GROWN, working azz out the bed in the morning.. Jose is funny to me. I just want him to twirl one time for me like Ms. Moore.

That said if sex is on the table in the evening I'm all about a quick shower, but if not and I'm not otherwise funky it can wait until morning.  We don't always touch each other at night.

I read recently that one's body temperature goes up in the last two hours of sleep which is why we can wake up feeling warm and have broken a sweat.  Not to mention if we've had restless dreams.....

Last thing about Bao and the shower thing because I don't think I've read anything that has negated anything I've said.

From Johnny's point of view. This isn't just one thing. She's cool with not showering for days. She implied that it may be tied into depression but I wouldn't be surprised if it's not just that. She's cool with doing a full workout and not showering until the next day. This is not JUST about showering at night or in the morning.

Also, we are still dealing with covid. Vaccinated or not, this needs to be a wake up call to what we are coming across everyday. Looking at what we bring home. Its much harder to just blow off cleanliness these days.

Johnny has too many quirks but they are not all coming from a place that doesn't make sense. You may not agree but I think most could see the other side of this.

Thinking about how Johnny said his relationship is with his father makes me wonder if the reason he's so picky with females is contributed to how his father possibly treated him. I'm willing to bet that his father nitpicked everything Johnny said and did all throughout his life & his dad probably spoke and/or showed his disgust that he wasn't the 'perfect' son. Thus, Johnny does it to other people because that's what was done to him. When people become adults, they tend to treat and react to others based off of how they were treated or grew up as children.

I must have missed Gil saying he had Hype since six weeks.

I missed it too but that's also awfully early to remove a puppy from its mother.

I think he said it in last week's episode, and I thought the same thing, that it usually wasn't until 8-10 weeks that people got puppies (mine was 12 weeks when I got her). Regardless...ok, Myrla, we get it, he smells. OMG my HAND is going to smell...he smells...the apartment smells...SHUT UP!!! (I may or may not have said that out loud LOL)

Also,  woman, stop it with the 4 alarms. Get your GROWN, working azz out the bed in the morning

Right?? I get it, it's not fun to pop out of bed and get going, but if she was actually willing to do that she wouldn't need the "first alarm" to go off at 4 in order to work out by 5:30.

Re:  Deer Head.  I don't know if Brett is Vegan, and if she is, then strike everything I'm about to say, because this wouldn't imply to true vegans.  But if she does eat meat, and I think she does, then Ryan's killing of that deer is no different, as yes, he probably does eat & share the venison.  I get it, shooting Bambi & all, but there's no difference to eating a chicken, a cow, a lamb, or a fish.  I also get not wanting to stare at that deer head all day/night.  Ick, I can't stand to look at deer heads.  Ryan said he'd put it in another room, so, problem solved.

I, too, froze Jose's white board.  If all he has saved is $81K, that's not much for his age, sorry.  It can't be $81K/month, or even $8K/month.  I found it not only confusing, but kind of stupid.  Smart guy like Jose would have an Excel spreadsheet, with like, other sheets, & macros & stuff.  Not just "City of Pearland" scribbled in black marker like when he was in 3rd grade.

I'm sure he has an excel spreadsheet somewhere.  This is probably just to keep him on track or maybe to show Rachel what he's got.

But according to this article $81K is not too bad for someone his age and probable income level.  He's got most of it in investments so presumably by the time he's of retirement age it will have grown significantly.  I would also presume that as his earnings power grows so will his contributions.  He probably didn't start out with much so that's really not too shabby, IMHO.

Speaking of the chart, people were confused about the GEICO payment - It's actually split up between $94 and $194, which I presume would be homeowner's and auto insurance.

What I don't see on the chart is a mortgage payment.  Could he have paid his house off completely already?  If so he's in even better shape.

I took a photo of the chart FYI:

I'm really having trouble getting into this season because there is not a single couple to root for.

This statement made me realize I'm a "wrong reasons" watcher.  I'm not rooting for them to fail, but I often enjoy watching it when it happens.

Unless they have light sabers!

Exactly!  If I knew anyone where I live (New Mexico) that showered 3 times a day,  I'd have something to say about it.  Completely irresponsible.

To be fair, New Mexico doesn't have humidity.  In Houston, just walking from the car to the grocery store in the sun can make me break into a sweat I can live with for the rest of the day but have to wash off before I go to bed because I hate trying to sleep if I'm sticky.  In addition to my non-negotiable morning shower.

And, not every shower has to be a 30-minute spa experience.  If I'm doing a rinse-off-the-sweat-especially-from-the-back-of-my-neck shower before bed, it takes just a minute or two of water.

What is sleep funk? If I'm literally just sleeping, what funk is on me?

I've always called it "that sleeping smell."  It's musty.

Also, we are still dealing with covid. Vaccinated or not, this needs to be a wake up call to what we are coming across everyday. Looking at what we bring home. Its much harder to just blow off cleanliness these days.

But we did find out we don't need to wipe everything down with alcohol and fear surfaces.  I would think that washing one's face before retiring would be sufficient in the case of respiratory viruses.

She should get an alarm (or more than one) for deaf people that shakes instead of making noise, so it doesn't wake up Jose.  I've had one forever and having something that blares at me when I'm sleeping has come to seem extremely uncivilized.  And it's particularly uncivilized if the other person doesn't need to wake up.

I don’t know if you consider hunting and eating the meat “hunting for sport”, but I can almost guarantee Ryan and/or his family ate the venison from that deer for many months after. Many Texans hunt deer and fill our freezers for a year with venison.

My family had a deer lease and hunted, and a freezer full of venison.  I have a brother who's been a vegetarian for almost 40 years and he said the one thing that could possibly make him eat meat again would be the venison pan sausage we had when we were kids.  I once took a frozen roll of it on a plane with me to college.

I never shot one myself, and could have done without seeing the deer hanging upside down in the garage.  Actually, I did do without it, by learning not to go out there until it had been taken to the processor.  I also don't tour slaughterhouses or chicken farms because I freely admit I'm a huge hypocrite when it comes to meat.

What I've seen of Myrla and Gil so far has mostly been his comments about and to her about her extravagance. Has Myrla remarked at all about a firefighter's wherewithal to keep her in the style to which she has accustomed herself?

Because if not (and I sometimes listen with half an ear), then she is simply biding her time, being polite, but not seriously invested.

But Gil's dog will be the deal-breaker for her, just as their dogs will seal the deal for Brett and Ryan.

"Money" and "Cleanliness" seem the major motifs this season, with "Fathers" lurking.

Thank you I was going to say just that.

We all have different comfort levels with germs but that is IMHO just overkill.

I found it interesting that Gil says he doesn't allow Hype in bed or the kitchen plus he bathes him every week.  Once a month is probably typical for dog owners (especially if their dogs have longer hair and need to be groomed) and many dog owners who otherwise consider themselves ultra-clean allow their dogs in bed with them.

Meanwhile I'm a dog lover and consider myself a germaphobe from waaaaay back, but would not want my pet in my bed.  The kitchen is OK though.

No, she has not and I've been of two minds about what that means.  I've considered that she's merely being polite and biding her time but not seriously invested in Gil as you said, or that perhaps she really doesn't care about his income because she's secure in her own ability to support herself.  One thing I've noticed about Myrla is that she's never given the impression that she's looking for a sugar daddy to support her Louboutin habit.  She seems perfectly happy being able to afford them herself.  Now if she really were invested in Gil, she might sing a different tune but I really don't get that sense from her.  She seems fiercely independent and not looking for a man to support her.  We'll see.

Still have an hour left but Johnny is really a commitment phobe . I hate guys or anyone in general who think that every conversation with a disagreement in it is an argument . If someone not showering every single night before bed is the worst thing in your relationship , consider yourself lucky . I’m sure Bao knows how to keep herself clean without you telling her every 5 minutes . But in general he keeps saying all they do is argue but All I’m seeing is him finding reasons to run .

Myrla is unbearable , truly . Is there anything this witch actually likes ? Not only would I not be able to be married to her , I wouldn’t even want to be in the same room as her , ever . How does someone like that have friends ? Lighten up !! And it always annoys me like no other that she keeps saying kissing is way too soon because they’re still strangers . Then WHY sign up for a show to marry a stranger ? I really wish Gil would ask her this . Isn’t getting married to a stranger a little more crazy than kissing one ?

Yes, especially if both of them are almost 40… it sounds fake.
