I have no idea who that Black guy wearing glasses and black shirt/tie is who was standing next to salmon jacket, but hokey smokes, HOT! He's my pick for First Impression Rose because this is the first time I've seen him.

Bye Doctor Joe. We hardly knew ye.

Has Spencer ever spoken? He’s good looking. I hope he gets some screen time next week so we can see what his deal is.

How is it that NO ONE spoke up and told Tayshia that Noah made the whole thing up?! I thought someone would pipe up before the RC started—and FOR SURE someone would blow it up on the way out the door! Seriously?! Tayshia must have really terrified them.

I think it is NO coincidence that Tayshia sent Joe home immediately after we see him in a mid head man bun. Bye Joe!

I don’t see Tayshia with Riley. He just seems too serious.

Apparnetly “emotionally intelligent”  Bennet needs paired with “emotionally intelligent” Taylor on the next Bachelor in Paradise.

Actually, next Tuesday IS my birthday. For real!

Not looking forward to the Bennett/Noah showdown. I have no interest in that, since that also means Bennett is toast.

Is Becca still with that lunkhead, Garrett?

You have got to be kidding me? She kept Ed and let boy band guy, joe and Jordan go? Geez. What an idiot.

How was Bennett robbed of a one on one date, exactly? I hope he and Noah go home next week. He’s starting to show his ass more and I don’t like it.

Well, if Blake doesn’t make it here, he can probably get a job with Vivid entertainment or whatever that porn company is.

Nope. Garrett is flaunting his new GF on SM already. I'm sure they will live a lovely racist life together.

Good! I couldn’t understand for the life of me what she saw in that shit head. She’d be good on BIP, plus the guys that left tonight. I miss that trashy show.

I am sure my opinion will be unpopular, but I lost some respect for Tayshia after tonight.

I didn't care for the truth and dare stuff. Drinking those smoothies reminded me of early years on Survivor. I didn't care for her constantly saying "let's cheers to that" and whichever guy she said "so and so's and I's relationship." I didn't care for her responses to Ivan's deep questions by saying " I don't know, it's like a lot," I didn't care for her believing Noah without inquiring of the men if what he said was true. I didn't care for her sending home my Dr. Joe, and also Jordan.

Dr. Joe works in the hospital where I gave birth 39 years ago yesterday and then had ulcer surgery eight days later. I'm coming to say "hi" to you, Dr. Joe, even though you weren't yet born when I was there.

Bennett was just on Jimmy Kimmel, taking a quiz via Zoom to make up for his "disaster" during this show's Junior High spelling/math quiz. He was SO cute and smart and funny. I'm really crushing on this guy now. The clip should be online tomorrow.

Now T is surprised Ivan is Filipino and says she's never met a Filipino before.

She said she had Filipino friends in high school, she'd just never met anyone who was Filipino and Black before. Which I haven't, either, so it didn't strike me as odd.

4 hours ago, thehepburn said:

I think Ivan has a lot of depth. T is not in his league. But the producers are obviously making them talk about #BLM.

It was so jarring how Ivan brought that into the conversation. One minute he's talking about his brother's struggles, which sounded genuine and heartfelt, then he's suddenly comparing his brother to George Floyd, and it sounded like he was reciting a speech he had memorized. I'm not saying that Ivan doesn't have genuine feelings about George Floyd/BLM, but I don't think he would have brought it up as part of that conversation if he hadn't been prompted.

Okay, I just checked in and I don’t like this guy — the one who came to her room late at night and then brought room service.  Then scoops her away at a thing where all the guys are.  Too controlling.  But then I’m fairly new to this show.

That's Ben. I know some of the posters here were already saying last week that he seems creepy and controlling, but I didn't pick up on it until this episode. The way he talks gives me chills, and not in a good way.

Ed is saved by the magic salmon blazer.  I’ll miss the doc most of all.

I'm so sad she didn't keep Joe! I know she doesn't have chemistry with him, but she seems to have even less chemistry with resident idiot Ed, so why not throw us viewers a bone and keep the handsome, well-spoken, self-deprecating doctor for another week?!

I was looking forward to seeing Sydney because I remember her being striking with a very distinct look, but she seems to be morphing into Ashley I with the plumped-up lips and caked-on makeup.

And I thought that entire date with Sydney and Becca was horrible. The smoothies were obviously fake - there's no way TPTB would have raw animal ingredients sitting out in the desert heat for any length of time and risk sending everyone to the hospital - and the phone orgasms followed by the habanero proposals were humiliating like so many of the other dates this season.

Noah is either not very bright or he doesn't really care about Tayshia (not mutually exclusive, I know) and is just there to stir things up.

Has a rose ever been revoked?

I think the closest thing that ever happened to a rose being revoked was when Jesse Palmer was the Bachelor back in 2004.  In the very first rose ceremony he called a woman named Katie's name and gave her a rose. Then he pulled CH aside to reveal that he had meant to say Karen instead.   The producers let him hand out an extra rose, but I doubt that made Katie feel any better about it.  He cut her in week 3, and cut Karen in week 4.

Ivan:  Long serious talk about BLM, the riots, his life trying to set a good example for his little brother, his parents' expectations, his brother going down the wrong path and going to prison, then getting beat up in prison by the guards the way George Floyd was killed by police officers and how Ivan learned that it doesn't matter what his brother or George did, the authority figures were wrong, but now his brother is home  with his daughter and seeing them together makes Ivan cry.

.... pause...

Tayshia:  "It's a lot."

I like Tayshia but I don't think she's a good match for Ivan.  She just wants to kiss Brendan and I can't really blame her for that.

Exactly what I'm wondering.  I was going for the giggle, but she did actually go on to cry a little and say sympathetic things, so she may just not have had a speech ready.  In her shoes, I would have been so afraid of saying the wrong thing I would have frozen like a deer in headlights.

No Joe? Boooooo

Tennisgurl, sorry for jamming your notifications by liking basically ALL of your posts but we must ride the exact same wavelength. I swear you are reading my mind every episode, haha. (PS I would also dig a ghost hunting birthday date)

Glad more people are picking up on Ben's creepiness.

What the hell was Tayshia thinking this rose ceremony? Joe (JOE!), Jordan, and Kenny all gone in the same episode? Not cool! I can't believe she isn't giving Demar more credit either and expect him (as my other favorite) to get cut shortly even though he's ridiculously hot and articulate and sweet. He should've won the song challenge. I'm sure Tayshia picked out her winner before they even competed.

I actually doubt the BLM talk was producer motivated or Tayshia would have been more prepared. It's really not uncommon to come up naturally in the current climate. I've done a lot of app dating this year (10/10 do not recommend, ugh) and I've had a lot of conversations about it as well, even on first dates. It's at the forefront of a lot of people's minds and seemed like a natural progression from Ivan talking about his brother. I was very impressed with how well he expressed himself but was equally UNimpressed with Tayshia. I feel like she had nothing to contribute and started crying to mask how little thought she had on the topic. Ivan is great though, I think he needs someone with more depth (and I say that as someone who does like Tayshia). It has been great to see so many real life conversations this season though- not just this one but talks with the other guys that seemed relevant and glaringly lacking in Bachelor cliches.

Overall this is the most fun season I've watched in a long time though! Tayshia is definitely my favorite b'ette since Emily in how well they handle the guys (I'm going to ignore Tayshia's rose ceremony chastising for now). Plus these guys are just awesome, genuinely enjoyable to watch and I'd have a beer with almost all of them. Aside from the smoothies, I actually loved the truth or dare date. The phone orgasms and Chris with his crab legs had me cracking up.

Jam away @jade.black! Join me for a ghost hunting birthday date! Great minds truly do think alike!

I agree with your thoughts as well, the show has greatly improved since Tayshia took over, everyone seems to actually be having fun, even with the pointless bickering over Noah. I know that this show loves its drama and thinks that its what everyone wants, but I find seasons where everyone seems to be pissed off and crying all of the time, a lot of times due to obvious producer manipulation to be a real pain to get through.

Tayshia seemed to be pretty thrown by Ivan getting into BLM and how it has affected him personally, it clearly wasn't something she expected to be talking about, and has probably not thought a whole lot about to the point where she can talk about her thoughts or how it has or hasn't affected her. I like Tayshia and I think she was a good choice for Bachelorette (aside from getting rid of great catches like Joe and keeping weirdos like Ben and Noah) but I don't expect to see a lot of deep talks about societal issues from her.

I also noticed Kenny light up when Becca walked up.  Maybe there is a future meeting for them.

I saw Bennet on Jimmy Kimmel.  I was interested to see the bureau in the background of his place is the same one we have in our bedroom.  I know that is boring but I found it interesting.

Noah really screwed up.  It appeared he told Tayshia what he assumed the guys were thinking.  But he said it as fact when I don't think it was ever said.  The confused looks on the men's faces should have told Tayshia that maybe Noah was not correct.  Of course Noah never named who had said it.  So all the guys were painted with the guilty brush.

We both had crushes on Arie from back when Emily's season aired and there was much discussion about joining up to compete, including planning ridiculous limo entrances for him. I think Tayshia is doing a great job at taking over from Clare. She put the show right back on track.

She might not have wanted to say much about BLM on The Bachelorette. These days, anything you say could be the wrong thing and you would never know it, until you say something that turns out to be wrong then the world hates you.

I will say this, in many ways she is a very good bachlorette, she is good at getting the guys to talk and she doesnt come off needy or desperate. I confess, I did not know how much I depended on the helicopter rides, walking down a European city street scenes, the screaming jumping on the beds at the "amazing" new hotel, etc. etc., until this season. How I could go for a visit to a hand-made puppet shop, circa Emily & Jef, or a dinner in a glass igloo, ala Sean and Catherine, or a quick helicopter departure as the dumpee from the 2 on 1 is left on the island, sobbing alone, ala Olivia Caridi on Ben's season. I swear I can feel sweat droplets running down my forehead just looking at the steamy, outdoor scenes in this season. I can feel the heat shimmering off all that concrete as the sun bakes down on them.  But now we have poor Tayisha having to resort to pretending the floor is lava for entertainment.  SIgh.  All I really got out of this episode is light interest in getting the real story on Bennet's pre-wedding breakdown. I expect the jilted fiancee will be surfacing and telling her story on People or Us soon enough.

I dont. She's probably Old Money and raised to think that one should have one's pic in print only 3 times in one's life -- birth, marriage, and death. That's probably why Mummy and Daddy are pissed that Bennett missed the (Mayflower) boat.

I know, right? (TM Emily) I'm stumped as to why they couldn't ride those horses somewhere other than around the resort sidewalks. And what's up with taking a dune buggy out into the blasting-hot desert to sit under some Arabian Nights tent. A helicopter ride is pretty COVID safe. But I guess the Entertainment Director this season thinks Lava Floor and Fake Pillow Fight is so hee-larious we don't need a puppet show, food trucks, tchotchke shopping, hiking, rappelling, bike riding ...

It's like that resort is such an isolated hotbed bubble of COVID, those people aren't allowed to set foot off the property.

Speaking of, I wish the room-service guy had been wearing a mask. Poor guy, if all the resort workers were quarantined there too. The show crew is all masked when we get a glimpse of them.

I don't blame her either.  I also suspect that given what she went on to say to Ivan about feeling different, being the only black/mixed race person at her school, living in the OC, she is probably not used to having conversations about race with people like her who do get it.  So it was a new and scary but also possibly liberating conversation for her.  Her staying on script so well as a rule probably has a lot to do with having grown up being different and feeling she had to fit in.

So, my two cents.  A criticism that many of us had of Tayshia from Colton's season, was that she was always smiling and trying to be the great girlfriend, and we never got a sense that she was being genuinely Tayshia.  Judging from what she said about how she grew up, that's probably been the story of her life.  She mentioned about having heard other people saying "Black Lives Matter", and I think that threw her for a huge loop, and caused her to re-evaluate everything about herself and how she had been living her life.  She may have even tried to suppress those feelings because they were so huge and confusing.  And then we get Ivan bringing it all to the forefront, on camera, and all she knew was a giant bundle of very strong but un-sorted out feelings...and I think it overwhelmed the crap out of her.

Alexander Pope and LuvMyShows, I agree about Tayshia's reaction. It has been a lot. I think she was taken aback by the turn of the conversation. But you could tell from her uncontrollable tears when she started to express herself that her emotions were just below the surface. She, like many of us over the years, have done a lot of compartmentalizing and flattening of our race around people and situations that were less than welcoming or unconcerned about knowing us deeply or fully. To hear Black Lives Matter shouted so simply, strongly, and full of pride and righteous anger had to have been stirring for a biracial girl from the OC--one of very few minorities in her orbit at least. And on the flipside, to likely see friends and neighbors have an equally strong but negative reaction to that same statement. It's like, "ok, so I see how you really feel about me and people who look like me." It is has been deeply hurtful, and it feels like a betrayal. Processing that change in both deep and superficial friendships and relationships has likely been *a lot.*

I'm sure Ivan bringing it up in relation to his brother was genuine. But I bet he also wanted to know how what was happening had affected her because that would be important to him.

I haven't watched a Bachelor/Bachelorette show in years. Years! I'm more in the Bravo sphere. I am glad my daughter made me watch. Clare/Dale! Bro-ships! Bennett! Smokeshow! It's been a gift, I tell ya!
