I guess that ancient cliche about not doing business with family or friends is being demonstrated here for our viewing enjoyment by the Winters and Newman families. Interesting now that Nick and Victoria don't have Adam in place as their whipping boy anymore, there is nowhere for all their latent hostilities to land but on each other! IMO, the actor playing Devon today gave a solid performance, with the show's overall script seeming much better than usual too. Even Billy made sense! Lily was unnecessarily harsh with Billy IMO. "It's MY company and MY family," whoa girl! Wasn't it her initial suggestion that Billy go off to "find his bliss?" She seems angry with him now for doing something she suggested in the first place. Have to wonder what the show is planning to do with the dark place Chelsea is in? She wanted to take Conor and be with her mom, Adam nixed Conor leaving. Maybe she will just go. She doesn't seem to be doing much good for Conor by sticking around.

I thought the Nate/Devon scene was well done, but Bryton really carried the bulk of it. I don’t necessarily agree that Nate owes Devon the name of the CEO (and seriously how can his mind not at least think of Victoria?)  but his parting shot of ‘why should I give you a second chance?’ Was spot on. Sure Nate said he was sorry and acknowledged his actions were reprehensible. But what’s to stop him from doing the same thing all over again if his ego got the best of him? It takes a lot more than one mea culpa to make right all of his wrongs. And Devon did acknowledge that Nate had a point about Holding tight to Neil’s ‘legacy.’

victoria can lose me with her ‘Nate will be a valuable addition because he’s shown his loyalty time and again.’ Hell if that’s all it takes to be a CEO, I should be running a company by now! I hope Nate turns her down, unless all that talk about making amends to his family was just that. Because the minute he accepts the job, Devon and Lily will know the name of the mystery CEO. OTOH, at least that should put an immediate end to any talk of an IPO. 

I enjoyed Sally and Connor today, She’s a natural with that kid and almost makes him tolerable.

Billy clearly has a warped sense of what it means to be "upstanding."

"Irma Vep." Hmmm. It may be an old movie from before Connor's time but it's also a recent, highly regarded miniseries on HBO. Interesting that a CBS show would sorta be doing advertising for a competitor's product. Whatever, Sally is going to destroy any and all competition in the costume.

Chelsea is really tiny without heels on. Adam was towering over her at her hotel room.

Didn't Sally have a three-month probation period to prove herself as CEO of NM? Guess Victoria put a reminder on her calendar because Sally is indeed a few days short of the end of the 90 days. Oh well. 😕

Mutual apologies from Nate and Devon, except Devon still isn't quite letting it go. With good reason I suppose since Nate is still acting more loyal to an outsider than his own family. Devon's head is going explode when he finds out who Nate has been protecting. Lily's too.

So I saw a commercial for the show touting the whole Diane’s Deep Dark Secrets storyline, and I thought to myself “Who cares?” followed by “You think this made up on the fly crapola is going to attract eyeballs? Eat shit!”

Jack is my favorite character, but christ almighty, I can’t with his existential angst over Diane’s machinations. Is he brand new? Stay away from Nikki, Ashley and Phyllis, man. They’re bad for you. It drives me freaking crazy when the show has me defending Billy!  Not only did Lily suggest he leave CW and do something that makes him happy, but she had to see that he wasn't all that enthused to take the position in the first place.  Just like she did with Devon, she was persistent in twisting his arm, playing on his sentiments until he gave in to what she wanted.   Yes, he's an adult and should have kept his resolve, but spoiled princesses have a certain way at wearing people down.  Then, when things don't work out the way they envisioned, they get that "fine whatever talk to the hand" attitude.  I also don't understand why she was so annoyed that Billy talked to Nate in an attempt to get everyone to make peace.  He's not forcing anyone to accept the truce, but there's no harm in trying.  So shut up Lily!

Anyone else hoping Nate is a total failure as CEO of Newman Media and somehow screws Victoria over. Devon and Lily have to figure out Victoria and NE are Nate’s collaborator once they learn where he will be working. If they don’t, they are idiots.

Even though Billy is the quintessential failson, Lily hired him despite his long history of failure, quitting and addiction. She shouldn’t be surprised when he acts true to form. Her family isn’t the only one impacted by Nate’s betrayal. Doesn’t Jill own a chunk of Chancellor part of Chancellor Winters? If so, then Billy has a familial connection to the company too.

Classics are true for a reason.

There have been times when I've actually felt for Victoria and her travails, but for quite a while now, she's got all the energy and emotional appeal of an Undead extra in the The Walking Dead - without the charm.  I hope she hires Nate Natey Nate Nate Nate and makes him work in hot pants the entire time.

I might understand the hire, then.  At least, a bit.

Wow! Today was really a master class about narcissistic, entitled, bitter women. Nikki and Victoria are insufferable. Nikki grilling her grown ass son about his personal life, with her nose pointed up towards the sky, while Nick the lump sits there not telling her it is none of her business?  Phyllis remains wretched beyond words. Sally should have told her that since she is 20 years younger, she has lots more time to work hard, and not end up like her. Wished she had let Phyllis know that the only thing they have in common, is dumping the dud known as Nick. It seems Vicki, Nikki, and Phyllis derive happiness solely by creating misery for others. Chelsea is struggling, but I don't get her, Sally, or Chloe as being actively motivated by a need to be malicious. Show can skip me with the scenes of the most boring and chemically deficient honeymooners in the world.

I found myself thinking back to the Glory Days of Soaps ( and I know I'm dating myself by doing this) when a honeymoon in Costa Rica would have meant an actual location shoot in Costa Rica. Some lovely tropical location porn, especially at this time of year as most of us in the US are on the fall/winter downslide. The production's in southern California--heck, take a remote crew to the beach at Malibu and film some scenes there as a stand-in for CR.

Instead we get fake romance, and now fake family time with Harrison in fake Costa Rica. I guess we won't see anyone in the Grand Phoenix hotel suite until they don't need the "Costa Rican villa" anymore.

Show missed a real chance for some heartwrenching drama.  I was sure there, for a second, that Nikki was going to end up swallowing her own hair but apparently her own bile prevented that from happening.  That stripper pole she has up her derriere just gets more firmly wedged with each scene.

So Sally isn't good enough to be part of the management team at Newman Saddle Shoes and Hernia Truss Inc., huh?  They've got Victoria who looks like She fell off her bike on her way to the Gale farm to confiscate Toto from Dorothy, Nikki doing a pretty poor imitation of Veronica Lake and Nick, the Olympic champion of Pocket Pool, all overseen by Victor's imitation of Jabba the Hut, but SALLY isn't good enough??

What ISN'T wrong with Phyllis?  This isn't a case of some jerk with a heart of gold or some other trope.  If that's the case, then MS and/or the writers have failed miserably.  She's a completely unimpressive, immature, vile person. 

It's nearly the same with Chelsea.  There are plenty of characters I'd feel badly for if they were in a similar story about being down on their luck or even a possible mental illness/depression bout.  But Chelsea, someone whose misfortunes are in large part due to harming other people?  No, I still don't feel sorry for her.

IMO it's just a matter of time until someone goes over the edge. Sad that the MWT's gave the kids storylines that make them more mature than their parents, and the kids are better at acting than most of the show's adults

Heh, at one point during his scene with Lily, Devon was waving his right arm around and what appeared to be a price tag or some other kind of label was visible in his jacket sleeve. Then they switched camera angles and someone outside of the shot either removed the item or stuffed it down further into the sleeve. The next time Devon raised his arm the piece of paper was no longer visible. Eagle eyes. I haz dem. (Lol, not hardly. Mr. Magoo would point and laugh at my glasses.)

One would think Abby would hire a restaurant manager so she doesn't have to keep stepping in whenever there's a problem at Society. Her random extra hours at work can't be helping her marriage any more than Chance's constant overtime.

So Katie went as a werewolf for Halloween. Too bad we didn't get to see her in her costume. But I guess the main reason for mentioning it was so someone could bring up Delia.

The Gentry Pontoon getting sued out of business, coming in 3, 2, 1...If Chelsea goes over the ledge, she could kill or critically injure other people too. It shouldn't be so easy to jump off that balcony, especially since it faces a busy street.

I get that the show is attempting to do a PSA on mental health but I wish they'd chosen someone other than Chelsea as the focus. She has a long history of issues which have either been ignored or treated in laughable ways. (Looking at you, Sharon.) AFAIC, Chelsea is not a character who tends to generate  compassion at this point and IMO isn't suitable for the intended helpful message.

Re the previews for next week: how stupid is Nate? Victoria has to be setting him up. Oh well. 🙄

The scene between Johnny and Connor makes it quite obvious how much Johnny was aged. There should be about one year between them but it seems like a little more than a 3 year difference.  Leaving them to their own devices, Johnny and Connor will continue to bond even more. 

Nostrils giving life advice to Chelsea is like the blind leading the blind. Instead of a pity party table for one, we now have a table for two.  Devon and Abby are having a separate pity party. 

The disclaimer at the beginning I thought would be the prelude to Chelsea committing suicide but it’s still a cliff hanger until next week or so.  For me the warning disclaimer should be when the episode has Rodan acting as the town cryer. To me, that’s more disturbing than anything.

It was nice to see Johnny and Connor getting along so well.  The kids acting was really good and the way they're maturely regarding each other should be a wake up call to certain adults  that they're the ones that matter here.  

As much as Chelsea is still a fool, MCE did quite well today.  

They really going to go there with Abby/Devon?  I would have thought it's just a plot point for Abby and Chance, but MM's current status makes me wonder.

I'm of the opinion that JG is going to get fired sooner rather than later. Adam is not an idiot and I was oying right along with you because it was clear the only reason Adam suggested that was to use the set.

I have never in my life seen a soap writer write plot points to use a set. I've seen sets used multiple times due to budget but it's never landed in dialog. Not to mention Chelsea is suicidal and Adam is clueless? It's very unlikely to me. This is the man that got Sharon through her psychotic episodes and into treatment and he can't identify when the mother of his child wants to end her life? Bullshit. Chelsea/Adam shippers are not going to be happy about this which is rounding back to why I think he's going to be fired.

Elena/Devon, Phyllis/Nick, Sharon/Nick, Lily/Billy, Sally/Adam, Sharon/Adam, Chelsea/Adam, Mariah/Tessa, Lauren/Michael, Nikki/Victor, Chloe/Kevin, Phyllis/Jack, Noah/Allie (please let me know if I missed any. Not one of these ships is being serviced in Josh Griffiths universe. Literally the only couple together right now that's actually being written as a couple is Summer and Kyle.

Noone wants to see Nick and Sally but people do want to to see Adam and Sally, no one wants to see suicidal Chelsea and Billy but people do want to see a healthy Chelsea with Adam or Billy and Lily. No one wants to see Sharon and a coffee pot but people do want to see Sharon with Adam or Nick or Tucker or any man that gives her a storyline. No one wants to see a non-existent plot between Noah and Audra but people do want to see Noah and Allie etc.

I'll be honest I have never seen (since Ron Carlivati) such abject failure in all my life. Literally no one is together and the stories are entirely plot and set driven. Sally looked like the dirtiest, thirstiest girl in the world having sex with both brothers on the same unwashed couch and within minutes of handshaking with Nick, a move I can almost guarantee she would never have made no matter how confused. This is a truly terrible show and for once everyone is as annoyed and agitated as we are. I have a very strong feeling that man's days are numbered.

I sure hope not. Abby and Devon have one of the few long-term friendships which hasn't crossed over into an ill-fated romance. Let them stay the way they are, I vote. What I do want however is for Chance to cheat on Abby, preferably with Sally. All that pretty together in the boudoir shouldn't be denied, though I know it would give half of GC yet another reason to hate Sally.

That was a really hard episode to watch. I have been down like that. And I’ve had people on a message board tell ne I should just kill myself. Even though she is a fictional character, I would still never advocate suicide.

Yes. Was difficult for me as well. Is she going off the show? Like, is Chelsea going to jump or is BillyBoy going to come to her rescue?
