OMG, yes! I'm dying to re-watch that David Kimble story. I was young when it first aired but I remember it was really good. I want to see if it holds up all these years later.

Wait, what? Christine had her hair parted on the side instead of the center! Looked great.

Come on, who outside of a beauty pageant contestant would wear high heels while walking around a pool? Yeesh, Cricket, Erica Kane you were not. 😑

"Abbott residence." Huh? I thought Miguel worked for the Newmans?

Were Phyllis and Tim dating? Going off to a remote Caribbean island doesn't seem to me like something mere friends would do. Not unless they were working some kind of hotel package deal for couples only.

Was that the tack house where Victoria  and Cole were living? I didn't recognize the architecture.

Ugh, Doris. So glad they haven't brought her back for any of Sharon's trials and tribulations during the past few years. I feel like I might could do a throwback round of Who Has to GTFO with Doris Collins, Mary Williams, and Lillie Belle Barber.

Lol, Phyllis trying to be incognito in a caftan and headwrap. No wonder that local woman was looking at her like, "Why are you appropriating my culture, you giant praying mantis?"

Ew, you'd think Paul and Christine would've insisted on getting moved to a different room even if the bedding was changed. Maybe the resort only had one honeymoon suite. 😛

What I remember him being was Phyllis' patsy off and on throughout the years. She was always leading him on. I looked up his history, and he had more story than I thought. Yes, they had sex. With Phyllis, it's mandatory. Tim died and Kevin helped Phyllis move the body.

Miguel worked for Nikki so she must have been Mrs. Abbott  at the time.

It sure didn't seem like Phyllis and Dr. Tim were having sexay times.

I was not watching back then but I do remember when she later essentially killed him by gently  pushing him into traffic (this was years later).  Am I misremembering that?

Heather Tom was simply stunning.

Phyllis and Dr. Tim had a very complicated history. They met when she was going through her divorce with Danny - Dr. Tim he was their court appointed psychiatrist- she ended up seducing him, videotaped them having sex, then blackmailed him into telling the judge that her marriage to Danny still had a chance. Her and Danny still ended up divorcing and she started dating Dr. Tim to make Danny jealous. I did feel bad for poor Dr. Tim back then because really did love her and I think they were even engaged at one point. She ended up dumping him for Danny. He popped back into her life a couple of times after that, but the last time was during the H&R story that MAB decided to revisit. I think this time he was blackmailing Phyllis. I remember that he collapsed and died in her apartment after taking a shitload of Viagra and wine, right before he was about to have sex with her. I think Kevin helped her get rid of the body.

IMO, Michelle Stafford and Aaron Lustig had an offbeat chemistry that worked.  I wished then and still do now upon seeing reruns, that the show had gone ahead and made them that oddball couple who stayed together.  Just my unpopular opinion I'll never let go (LOL).

I'm trying to recall how Sharon and Nick got together.  It's been years, so I need help. Was Nick dating someone else who was a friend of Sharon's and Sharon decided to take Nick for herself?  Or was it the opposite - Sharon was dating Nick and her friend wanted him?  I ask because I have a vague memory there was another woman closely involved in the whole Sharon/Nick backstory.  Or was there and I'm mixing Sharon/Nick/Unknown Woman with another storyline?  Memory isn't lighting the corners of my mind.

Now I remember that!  Thank you @peacheslatour and @ezzylin.

Did Phyllis push someone into traffic once.  It was in front of the GCAC I believe and it was kind of ambiguous whether she pushed him.  He died though. (I hope I am not imagining this whole thing.)

What is it with soaps and rug-rolling bodies? DOOL had Sonny and Will roll up Leo's [Greg R] not-quite-dead body in a rug as well.

The only ambiguous death I remember Phyllis being involved in was Sasha Green, who was found dead in her hotel after a fire. At the time I think she was blackmailing Phyllis- she wanted money or else she would tell Danny that Phyllis paid her to change Daniel's paternity results. The two of them had a heated exchange in Sasha's hotel room, but didn't actually see Phyllis set the place on fire, we only saw her freaking out after the fact.

There was a story that involved MM's Adam and Dr. Taylor. Adam blackmailed Dr. Taylor after he found out from Skye's old diary that the doctor had molested her. After Ashley fell down the stairs and lost her baby, Adam blackmailed Dr. Taylor into working as Ashley's doctor to convince her that she was still pregnant. Dr. Taylor died after he stumbled into traffic during an argument with Adam, but some people swear that Adam pushed him.

So - is there a schedule on what each week's "theme" will be?  I heard themes for Jeanne and Kristoff were a sure thing. Any word if they're rerunning key episodes from when Shelia kidnapped Lauren's baby?  And once again.  Please, please, please, Y&R.  I'm begging you on my knees!  A theme week of the delicious evilness that was David "Killer" Kimble would be much appreciated!

I read on soaps.com that next week they'll be airing "classic episodes featuring Katherine Chancellor".

I took a long break, as well, and didn't start watching regularly (via daily recordings) again until 2008 or 2009.

I can attest to a love of Gloria......only because she was Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs crazy!  I loved those looks she'd give with her eyes bulging out and her nose up in the air.....I love how she'd wear sequins to work - she was always dressed to the nines! - and I loved how she just fiercely loved and defended her sons, no matter what they did. Everything she touched turned to crap, but she soldiered on.......

I miss Gloria also. Whatever happened to the restaurant she worked at during her time on the show? I loved that set with the booths.  I also wish they would resurrect GCAC and those rooms. I still remember when they ditched the chintz bedding and curtains. I think they did it slowly, going to a solid green maybe? Then one day it was all updated, sleek and grey decor. Really miss the Chancellor and Abbott pool sets. I am debating watching the repeats and I think I will probably just look at the sets and ff through.

I did decide to not watch the last three episodes from this week. I am going to use them as a buffer for when the new episodes start.

Gloria's restaurant burned down.  I can't remember for sure, but I seem to remember that Jeffrey torched it for the insurance money.  Having Gloria back would make me very happy, too.

I miss the GCAC, too.  The Grand Phoenix is a Motel Six with delusions.

I am actually happy that our soaps are going to be showing the classic episodes instead of the absolute drivel we’ve been subjected to in the past few years. At least we won’t have to see everyone holding business meetings in the middle of restaurants, bars and hotel lobbies. That’s just so stupid on it’s face. If you don’t have an office, find one!

I've met with my attorney, realtor and my dad's elder care specialist in a bar. I won't drive on the freeway and I don't like people in my house so I buy them lunch or coffee and the local bar and grill.

The woman is Cassandra Rawlins. She was played Nina Arvesen. She was soooo pretty. Paul first saw her in a painting & then found in real life. It’s a whole other story. LOL!!! John had a stroke. Victor has always mumbled. This was a time when Paul actually had an office & a secretary.

Lynn with the goofy grin and the "yes, boss". I think her father worked for the show as a writer or something. Her real name is Laura. Cricket's real name is Lauralee. Obviously, on Y and R, Laura means nepotism.

And I'm thinking about the Jabot secretary back in the day, Carol(and the actress) had polio and had a brace on her leg and used a cane. Sadly, the actress died at 58.

I cannot stand Kyle or Summer but I like Theo even less. After what he did, he had nerve to even show his face back at Jabot to pick up his things. He has always been and still is a slime ball- perfect for Summer to f around with and Kyle to womanize with. Lola made Kyle much more likable for me, but ultimately they are all garbage people.

I'm glad we are getting vintage eps. I've only watched a couple so far. The next in queue is the Halloween party. Victor and Nikki's (first) wedding was about the time I started watching but I've forgotten so much. I liked the Brenda Epperson Ashley. Brad was a snack. Dru and Neil were a great couple. I even liked loony Phyllis back then, mostly because of her hatred of Christine. I have never been a fan Victoria or either actress. My boyfriend back in the day used to call Heather Tom pumpkin head. I completely forgot about Gina. She was such a pathetic character and I am never a fan of impromptu singing. Ahhhh, memories!

What was with DD's weird articulation in the intro?

So was that the show's first doppelgänger storyline, with Kay and Marge? YR sure loves to keep going back to that well.

Lol, all that fan-blown big hair in the opening credits. No wonder the ozone layer over LA was disintegrating. Hair spray. 😨

Goodness, Victor had shoulders like a linebacker. It only took 47 layers of clothing to achieve the effect. 😼

Nate and Amy dancing. Why? And why did the closed captioning say her name was "Ana"? Was she related to Devon's sister?

Heh, Danny was kind of full of himself. Oy, I remember when they used to play that Rock On remake almost every day. It wasn't that great of a song, IMO, at least not Danny's cover version.

Christine had bangs! And even back then her sleeves were too long. Does LLB have some kind of issue with her arms or hands that she uses her sleeves to hide?

Apparently Kay's husband was sleeping with Marge unawares? Ew. That's always going to be a form of sexual assault to me and I'll never understand why Y&R kept treating it as titillating. At least they did until fans got upset about the Marco and Phyllis situation.

Poor Esther. She was such a ditz back then. 🤗

My memory is fuzzy, but Cassandra was married to a very wealthy older man named George Rawlins.  I think George hired Paul for some reason, and Paul fell in love with Cassandra, but she had been having an affair with Adrian.  George was murdered by Adrian, but all evidence pointed to Cassandra.  Paul managed to clear her name (he was a much more competent PI than he was chief of police), but somehow she ended up married to Brad.  They were married when she died, and Brad inherited all of her money and that great house.

I don't think John is in the hospital this time because of Jack's and Jill's affair.  That had happened much earlier (with a different Jack and Jill).  I think this stroke/heart attack was related to Victor taking control of Jabot after Jack convinced John to take the company public.  That's why Jack was blaming Victor.

As much as I like the classic episodes, I wish they would choose one place to pick it up and then start showing the episodes in order instead of this random scattershot way.  The one they showed today had three really good storylines in it: Cassandra, Marge, and David Kimball (probably my favorite Y&R villain!).  The problem is that Bill Bell's stories often played out very slowly over a long time, but maybe they could pick out episodes that still told those stories in a more abbreviated way?  The Reader's Digest version of Y&R!

Bill & Brad Bell introduce their black characters pretty much the same. They are from the streets, poor and/or Illiterate and are saved by the rich white people i.e. Dru, Devon and from B&B Dayzee and Maya. It’s kind of embarrassing how they were written. I remember when Victoria Rowell (pre crazy) would mention how Dru came on the show with three braids which meant she was basically meant she had to play the poor & illiterate girl. Nothing has changed much in 2020. I don’t think B&B has any black actors on contract except for Lawrence St. Victor (off contract) who just marries people. Rant over.

Watching Phyllis moan about being a good mother to Daniel is hilarious, knowing how she sold him out to his rapist just a few short years later 🙃

Also, a "good mother" wouldn't lie about a child's paternity to trap a man that I'm 99 percent sure was never that into her. Christine can be a real pill herself, but I'm sure she wasn't entirely motivated by spite and vindictiveness. That is Phyllis' game and no one can beat her at that.

I'm assuming this Devon story they showed was way before Drucilla and Neil adopted him. I forgot that Lily and him were kinda sorta a thing and had Greg and Marcia vibes for a while even after the adoption. Also, Bryton's acting left a lot to be desired back in the day. I didn't realize how far he'd come until seeing this episode! 😮

Loved BJ's cute little doggie.

Heh, today we got a reminder of how old Grandma Phyllis the eternal sexpot really is. Today's episode was way before Daniel fathered his own kid though, right?

Eh, was not crazy about the Gordon Gekko-ish hairstyle Jack was sporting. I think he looks better with his side part and swoop.

Dru was stylin' and profilin'. VR must be thrilled to see two of her episodes have aired already. For so long it seemed verboten for the current characters to mention Dru's name.

Christine's apartment was fabulous. I guess she was a lawyer by then but where did she work? I don't think she was the DA by then, was she?

Whoa, Nikki needed a better bra. The girls were sagging.

I don't recall Lauren and Kay being close enough for Lauren to participate in an intervention. How did that come about? I'd guess it was the high society connection between the Fenmores and the Chancellors?

Jill's hair seemed a lot grayer back then, though I imagine it was supposed to be frosted.

Every party needs a pooper, Mac. 😑

How did they ever justify Lily's valley girl affectations? Lily grew up in Europe and GC so there was no apparent reason for her to talk like that. Kind of like Chance now with his Lone Star drawl.

And the fun continues tomorrow! Yay!

You didn't like Jack's look?  You're probably right, but Peter always looks good to me.  I was thinking how Peter Bergman just got better and better and better.  Loved the scene with him and John.  Those two are not only good actors, they're so good together.

I'd forgotten just how good Victoria Rowell was.   She was everything in those scenes with Bryton, just everything.  Lily, on the other hand....yikes!  Christel Khalil has gotten so much better.

Mac.  Show should have saved money and just hired a dark cloud to play the part.  Just seeing her and hearing those few lines made me want to take up day drinking.

I've always wanted Christine to wipe that smug look off Phyllis' mug and I know that feeling started decades ago.  As usual - all soaps do it - Phyllis tells Daniel a partial truth about how he was raised and then Daniel goes RIGHT to the outcome decent writers take time to build to and he runs off to attack his father and defend his mother.  The absence of Daniel asking Phyllis questions about lying to Danny and him jumping right to Christine is a MONSTER was pretty ridiculous.  But then, I'm thinking pretty much every scene that comes near Phyllis, both then and now, is ridiculous.  "Bad" characters I enjoy, "Bad" characters are needed.  Assholes, we have enough of.

I was kinda hoping Christine would have told Phyllis to hang on for one second, gone back into her apartment and come out driving a BMW down her hallway, heading right for Phyllis' big mouth.   Every now and then, Show needs a little RoadRunner vs. Coyote action.

Hey Liz!  Nice to see you and nice to see you verbally smack Katherine upside the head.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I don't think BM's Billy was ever with Mac.  It was mostly David Tom, and I think the one who looked like Val Kilmer.  There was one Mackenzie who smiled...she was the one who bought Crimson Lights with Kevin and first started dating JT (the one before Clementine Ford.)  I liked her.

Funny, my timeline is all out if whack here.  I thought MAB was the one who made Katherine and Jill mother and daughter, but I guess she was the one who un-did it.  JC was so great at playing the wealthy drunk.

Joanna, Lauren's mother, went to school with Katherine. I remember hearing that when Dina was doing the Jack's daddy storyline. I looked up Lauren's father, Neil, and he was also in the same class. I don't know if Joanna or Neil had scenes with Katherine.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I don't think BM's Billy was ever with Mac.  It was mostly David Tom,

You're right. I think I'm in the unpopular opinion category, but I liked them as a couple. The smiling Mac was brought back for the abusive JT storyline. Billy Miller was with Clementine Ford, but even he couldn't make that work.
