ByTor April 4, 2020 Share April 4, 2020 A technical glitch happened when merging a discussion into the main Y&R topic, which sadly poofed it into the ether. This is your new main show discussion. Just a reminder, snark on the show all you want, just not each other. And, as always, this is a politics-free zone; there are plenty of places for political discussions, this is an escape from it all. To all of you, I offer my sincerest apologies...as well as a peace bunny. 5 18 Link to comment

KLovestoShop April 4, 2020 Share April 4, 2020 (edited) That wedding brought back all the memories of the excess of the 1980’s. Huge hair, over the top clothes and wayyyyy too much makeup, especially blush. Who was the character that kept trying to kill Nikki? I wasn’t into this soap at that time. Apparently, CBS is going to play one or two Classic episodes a week. They need to stretch their new shows because Y&R doesn’t tape that far ahead. One of the soaps, I think GH, tapes months in advance, so they are supposed to have new shows until October. Edited April 4, 2020 by KLovestoShop 3 9 Link to comment

Joimiaroxeu April 6, 2020 Share April 6, 2020 Sure, Chelsea is well-known in the fashion industry all right. Well-known as a common joke. I dunno, it's a little disturbing to me to see Phyllis displaying concern and sympathy for Sharon. It almost seems to me like she's mostly doing it to impress Nick. So now Tessa's a saint apparently. KMN. Are we to assume Victor really did kill Alyssa's father? Nah, I bet there's another shoe to drop. What if Victor paid the coroner to lie as part of a bigger plan to undermine Adam once and for all? (And I'm still thinking Adam and Alyssa are siblings.) Um, Adam. Victor could just have you killed. Then where would you be? 🤔 Well who would've expected Summer to behave with such class? I will take back everything bad I ever said about her. Offer good for the past hour only. 😉 Leave it to Phyllis to DTR by claiming she doesn't want to DTR. And Nick is like, "Duh, okay?" Geesh, she should just put a collar and leash on Nick and train him to respond to commands like "sit" and "stay" and "come." 🐕🐩 10 3 Link to comment
Waldo13 April 7, 2020 Share April 7, 2020 Adam maybe a bastard and a low some person but Olive Oyl really doesn’t have a leg to stand on. Like Banana Breath, Victor has handed them everything. Especially 2nd 3rd and even 4th chances. Of all Victor’s children, Adam is the only one who actually earned a business degree from The Harvard Business School. Olive oil studied art but I don’t know if she has any degree as with Banana Breath. I don’t know why Victor would kill to protect Hope when he could have just as easy paid off the loan. Victor gave Adam NE but I still think he’s covering for someone. Nice scene with Mariah, Tessa, Faith, Sharon, and even Summer. As far as Sharon’s cancer is concerned, there is still time for minimally evasive techniques to be used. I don’t know why TIIC didn’t write radiation treatments into the story line. My wife received chemo and radiation treatments at the same time for pancreatic cancer and in her chemo group, they received both for breast cancer. Radical surgery is now being replaced by more minimally evasive surgeries. 3 8 Link to comment

There was a level of realism - now, just a touch! - that got me in a way this storyline hasn't, so far. There was a lot less St. Sharon adulation and a lot more ease and caring interaction. I liked it. The opposite was true with the Chlesea/Chloe scenes. I don't mind Chelsea all that much, to be honest, but Chloe is like a constant claw on a chalkboard to me. "Natural" hasn't come close to her in decades. And all this constant proclaiming of their friendship doesn't make the reality of it any less labored. There's the difference - I believed the interactions I saw taking place at Sharon's, didn't believe Chloe/Chelsea for one minute. Josh Morrow is probably an affable guy in real life but an actor, he's not. You can practically see him hitching up his pants when he has to switch from "aren't I charming" mode to "now I'm dwaaaamatic" mode. He furrows a brow, speaks a little more slowly than usual and that's his Emmy reel, folks. Of course that was overshadowed by the perennial overacting nutzoid of Genoa City, huffing and puffing her affection for Sharon as she, per usual, took over the conversation and said every line twice. Phyllis and Nick continue to be perfect for each other. Oh please, Adam, go suck on a lemon. And stop walking like you learned your motor skills from John Wayne movies. Your balls aren't so big you have to walk like ButtBiscuit after a waxing accident. Victor is playing you and it's so obvious. I bet that curly haired woman - can't remember her name - is in on the whole thing. Face it, Adam, even your childhood friends hate you. This is one time I wish Victor WOULD pull another doppleganger switch and replace Adam with It would be an improvement. Edited April 7, 2020 by boes 13 7 Link to comment

Joimiaroxeu April 7, 2020 Share April 7, 2020 Oh Adam, houseflies have a longer lifespan than NE CEOs. Don't get too comfortable in daddy's chair. You'll likely be out before your fancy new business cards come back from the printers. Three days in row with Phyllis in that horrific rag she probably calls a blouse. Yo, Y&R wardrobe people, give us a break, huh? 😩 Theo is a good grandson to Dina. It's amazing given how crappy he is about most other things. And is he living at Abbott Manor now? He sure makes himself at home there. Victoria stomping her stilettos and throwing a hissy fit because Victor gave Adam what he wanted--for the moment anyway. This is my surprised face. Yo, MWTs. You're working on a soap opera not Shakespearean theatre. Spare me Adam's agonized soliloquies about how he's more like Victor than Victor himself. The actor two recasts back already ran that shtick into the ground, IMO. Loyal to a fault. A fault. There's your problem, Ms. Newman. Victor doesn't place a high value on his children's loyalty. He knows that no matter what he does to you, you all keep coming back for his approval. Your insecurity is what he counts on. Lol, once Kyle showed up Dina looked at Theo like, "Oh you're still here?" Wonder if AJ Montalvo was connected to a Midwestern branch of the mafia? If he was a made guy Victor definitely doesn't want his involvement in Montalvo's death to get out. Seems to me things were going fine with Dina until Kyle showed up. Maybe Jack should give Kyle a spanking. 🙄 1 12 Link to comment

Joimiaroxeu April 8, 2020 Share April 8, 2020 I liked Traci's curly hairdo. What about that gift basket she gave Lily though? The black netting didn't seem very celebratory to me. Kyle, when you're getting career and family relationships advice from the likes of Summer you know you're in trouble. You might as well be getting financial consulting from Colin Atkinson. See a big difference between Jack and Victor made evident. Victor encourages his kids to fight each other for his approval and the right to the NE throne. Jack lays down the law with his family's third generation and tells them he is not having their infighting b.s. Even if Amanda wasn't in on Colin's scheme wrt Devon's inheritance IMO she displayed poor ability to do due diligence. And she's steadfastly refused to admit it. Meh. Ugh, Kyle is such a suckup. Waldo13 April 9, 2020 Share April 9, 2020 I’m sorry to beat a dead horse but when did Elena finish her residency, pass the MD boards, and become licensed to practice medicine in Wisconsin. Wow! 4 years passed so quickly. Elena, as a resident, could not be left alone without Nate’s supervision but she is alone and writing prescriptions. Elena seams to be content also practicing general medicine; but if I remember correctly, Elena wanted to be a surgeon and was in a surgical residency program. I guess working in the clinic became more important for her than receiving additional surgical training via a fellowship program. Although not required, its recommend for a general surgeon to get specialized training in a sub specialty. To use Sharon as an example, Elena could do her surgery but it would be more advantageous for a doctor that specializes as an oncologist surgeon. With Lola, Elena could do the surgery but a specialized a transplant surgeon would be more advantageous. Sounds to me that Jack wants to take Jabot back to the dark ages. Unless TIIC want to put Kyle in his place, Kyle should win the competition. I would be surprised if Theo can do traditional and Kyle, good or bad has Summer. Amanda and Nate. Joimiaroxeu April 9, 2020 Share April 9, 2020 (edited) What is with this Alyssa chick just showing up at Adam's unannounced, whenever she wants? Kinda rude to me because they don't know her like that. Adam, twisting the knife into Victoria--while she's still recovering from getting actually shivved--is bad juju. Meanwhile, I guess Victoria is no longer on painkillers if she can freely knock back the booze now. "Victoria." Uh, sweetie, you weren't named after daddy Victor. Adam was. Namesake entitlement to the Newman throne is not really the card you want to play here. Sharon is a wealthy woman. I'm thinking she doesn't need her kids doing household chores. 🤔 Chancellor Communications. CC. Wonder if their logo will be something similar to the Chanel or Gucci logos? Those poor NE employees. It's only Thursday and they're on their third boss this week. That company is a bad joke. Alyssa, you're not getting the run around, you're getting conned. Maybe you should've investigated your old friend and his grifter baby mama before you decided to work with them. They are well-known for their shadiness. Google it. Abby, in the words of a famous hip hop song, these bros ain't loyal. Their heaux either. 😒 Okay then, Alyssa is about to get schooled on the Newman facts of life the old-fashioned way. Waldo13 April 9, 2020 Share April 9, 2020 This whole construction debacle is so dumb. Abby had to have the architectural plans approved in order to receive work permits from the building department of GC before construction can start. Furthermore, construction just started, so how can Phyllis claim that Abby’s construction crew is cutting corners. It seems like Abby’s Hotel is a new build and not a renovation so the excavation is all that’s being done right now. I really don’t think that Phyllis has more clout with the GC building department than Abby so Abby would rebound from this bogus shutdown. Alyssa can’t say that her father is not a murderer when he set Cliff’s demise in motion. Alyssa only has circumstantial evidence that Victor killed A.J. Without an eye witness there is no definitive proof. I don’t understand why, if Alyssa is so determined to get her story out, why doesn’t she go to a tabloid or find another conspiracy web site to publish it. Olive Oyl, in her rant to Adam about being ruthless and other things could just have been describing Victor. Olive Oyl, in her grandeur, doesn’t remember how quickly she ran Brash and Sassy into the ground. With NE being a conglomerate, her failures can be sustained by other divisions of NE. The brightest part of the episode is team Sharon. You notice Banana Breath only volunteered to run the business end of CL. I guess the profit in Banana Bread will go way way down. Nothing was mentioned about Mariah and Tessa taking care of Faith but I would think that TIIC would of had Mariah and Tessa help running the day to day business of serving customers. I’m glad that TIIC decided on Sharon having a lumpectomy instead of radical surgery, but you never know what they have in store for Sharon. I’m wondering if Jason Thompson plays pocket pool even when he’s not playing Nostrils. Jason seems quite natural in doing so. Banana Breath seems a natural at it also. PA, I should have thought of that. Thanks JASONCC for bring that up. That would be a better course of action for Elena and more believable in the time it actually takes to be a PA instead of a doctor. Basically Elena is really nothing more than a PA working at the clinic. Even though Elena actually finishing medical school and quit as an intern to take care of Jett, there was no mention of the fact that Elena received training to obtained her certificate to be an EMT before entering medical school. Being an EMT can give you a leg up to get into medical school but being a Paramedic, which requires a bit more training, is even a bigger advantage. Graduating from med school doesn’t automatically make you eligible to be an EMT. So if Elena didn’t receive her certificate before, when did she have the time to get her certificate when she became an EMT, at Memorial, after Jett went back on the road. 1 10 Link to comment

Actually, Chelsea might have been even more repellent today. Luckily, Wardrobe was doing a good job of punishing her by dressing her in what appeared to be castoffs from the Howdy Doody show. She sorta looked like a squashed package of liverwurst. I don't know what the purpose was of Victoria's visit to see ButtBiscuit, but I'm always up for her yelling at him. I hope that this time, Victoria is allowed to take out the trash without any help from anyone, especially ButtBiscuit. I FF'd through any and all things Phyllis, but I did catch her and Nick defiling the elevator. Can't somebody just cut the cable and do us all a favor? I agree with you about Chelsea. I didn't particularly like her, especially when she went back to Adam, but I could take her or leave her. She's become smug, unwatchable and vile. I hope she gets what's coming to her. And speaking of smug, how about Chelsea saying to Adam today (I think it was today? This stay at home stuff has my days all turned around!) "I can handle Nick" when Adam asked her if she was going to be o.k. around Victor's kids, especially Nick. There's entirely too much drama between Chelsea and Adam centered around "What are we going to do with Victor's kids?" or "how are we gonna handle being around them?" You just blackmailed their father! You got what you wanted! You lied to your little childhood friend to help you get what you wanted and you continue to lie to her.......Nick and Victoria are the least of your problems, at this point! It's not like anyone wants to have Sunday dinner with them, so what are they so worried about being with Nick and Victoria, anyway? Ugh...and don't get me started on that "sex" scene between Phyllis and Nick at the hotel. They are still....not hot....at all. 15 Link to comment

Anna Yolei April 10, 2020 Share April 10, 2020 Today's episode was a rerun where Jill first found out she was pregnant with Buttbiscuit and all I could think about is how I wished John Abbott had gotten snipped three months sooner 🤷♀️ I'm glad John is not here having to raised this petulant 40 year old man-child. I'm being snarky but it was nice to see some old familiar faces in Brad and the newly-married Winterses on their honeymoon. Victor sucked as usual, but young Jack...dayum, what a beautiful man ❤️❤️❤️❤️ 5 14 Link to comment

lovemesomejoolery April 11, 2020 Share April 11, 2020 I enjoyed this old episode, which I almost missed because our governor had a press conference. Luckily, I get Baltimore and Washington, DC news channels, so I quickly recorded the Washington, DC version, which wasn't pre-empted. Boy, times sure have changed, haven't they? When Jill, upon telling John she is pregnant, I was shocked a bit by John's response: "What? You knew how I felt about this and you didn't do something to make sure this wouldn't happen?" I'm paraphrasing........but, wow. All of that was probably a fairly groundbreaking discussion to have on the tv screen at the time, though. It was fun, yet bittersweet, to see Dru and Neil.......did you all check out that cell phone? I remember those humongous things when they came out! And Nikki....always so good at crying on the spot, sometimes just one perfect tear rolling down her cheek, but still looking beautiful all the while. These old episodes have been a joy. 1 14 Link to comment
Joimiaroxeu April 11, 2020 Share April 11, 2020 Wow, how callous was Victor? "Now that that stupid JackAbbott baby is out of the way you must come back to me now, Nikki!" And those baggy pleated pants he had on! Was he an extra in a MC Hammer video? Well, that likely explains why VR started going nuts on social media again recently. She must've known this episode would be airing. But I thought she and CBS had mended fences? This Dru and Neil-heavy episode seems to have provoked her old demons. Whee, all the big hair! Even on some of the guys. Boy am I glad Jack has stopped being a fool for Nikki. As long as Victor's still around that's always going to be a nonstarter. Sure hope Neil's watch was waterproof--or cheap. He was wearing a lot of jewelry to be going swimming in the ocean. The wardrobe people didn't think that through. How did Brad the pool boy magically become Brad the architect? What was he doing remodeling Neil's apartment? I'm confused by some of the sets. Were Jack and Nikki living at the ranch? If so, where was that place Victor was living? Miguel was a snitch, ha ha. Wonder if Billy's problems stem back to his knowing deep down inside that John didn't want him. Maybe his damage started in utero. 🤔 2 9 Link to comment
boes April 11, 2020 Share April 11, 2020 (edited) What a bastion of equal rights Genoa City was back in the day, wasn't it? After all, what's more equal than Victor being impatient with Nikki for not doing exactly what he wants, right now, and getting over the baby she lost when she fell down the stairs during an argument with him over - you guessed it - her not giving him exactly what he wanted. Then there's John, mad at Jill because she didn't do the work to avoid pregnancy to his satisfaction before he got snipped because his desires come before hers. I think both women had the equal right to kick both of those boneheads RIGHT in their respective ButtBiscuits. And then do it again. I hadn't forgotten exactly what a sociopathic, self-centered, manipulative emotional abuser Victor was back then, but how nice to know it's just as infuriating to watch again as it was the first time. Genoa City hasn't had nearly enough premature burials IMO. How exciting for us to have a "We Were There" at the moment when Jill realized she was carrying ButtBiscuit! I wish we'd gotten to see the episode where Jill saw the first ultrasound of her lil' bundle of joy. I remember the image was particularly clear. Oh joy, I found that image! It's not hard to understand Jill's happiness at impending motherhood, is it? I enjoyed this blast from the past. The only thing that would have made it better would have been an out-of-control accident with the Neuter Scooter taking down Victor and side-swiping John. jewel21 April 11, 2020 Share April 11, 2020 So what ever happened to Douglas? Seems he was on for quite a few years, at least since the wedding of Nikki and Victor and up to the episode they aired today. Weird that he's gone and never gets a mention. And what happened to Eve? She wrnt from trying to kill Nikki at her wedding to hopping on a plane to GC to visit Victor with a picture of his supposed 'son.' Aww, Miguel. I always loved you for some reason. It was nice to see him again. 1 1 10 Link to comment
