That was Sam McMurray, who was the Congressman, dying of Stage 4 Lung Cancer that Drew wanted support from last Spring? And instead, McKonkey  asked Drew to take his place and run for his seat.

He BARELY knew the man-he was friends with Nina's father-so she should mourn him. But Drew? PLEASE.

And Drew didn't even tell Nina he's sorry for HER loss!  I couldn't believe that scene at the Q mansion.  Nina needs to get under a new man.  Drew is awful.

Drew needs to mourn him to justify Willow comforting him. The flimsy plot reason was that McConkey was a father figure to him that he never had before.. So stupid.

@GHScorpiosRuleI never understood the show's obsession with turning the guys into deadbeat dads, especially when the women had very young kids.

The show seems to have some weird fantasy of what an alpha male is -- a rogue (Luke), a thug (Sonny, Jason) someone who does what he wants rather than being tied to his family (Lucky). Genuinely good guys need not apply.

I was on the barge, I think, when Vaughn played Lucky.  So in my mind, all that drug addiction stuff never happened and Lucky’s always been played by JJ.

Also, I want a pony.

Fairly sure it was JJ crawling around on the floor trying to find the pill that rolled under the sofa or something. And just staring at it! He was definitely still there during the height of the addiction story because Maxie was his supplier. She was a candy striper at the hospital and stole bottles of oxy to give Lucky. I barely remember GV’s Lucky except that he was hot in scenes with KeMo. But he was never Lucky to me…

No, Maxie wasn't his pusher when JJ returned. Yes, he was crying and crying, and also staring at that PILL under the bed-but that happened after he caught Elizabeth and Nikolas FUCKING and fell off the wagon, if you will. He was sober when he returned and newly engaged to Elizabeth. The height of his addiction? They were still married.

I remember a conversation that JJ's Lucky and Maxie had, where he forgave her for her part in his addiction.

I also want to say I still like Ric, despite how they totally destroyed his character to prop the unholy trinity.

I also wonder where you can buy ice cream near the bridge, at night.

eta: Kristina left the Mickey doll on the grave, so it's kind of proof that she was there and not shooting Jagger at the Q's.   Since she seems to have a spaced out look, and doesn't remember what she did.

I was talking about before he left. When he slept with Maxie and we had pillow-gate. That was all JJ.

Right! Forgot all about Pillow-Gate! Bleached it from my brain! But I'm pretty sure that was Greg, because I don't remember Maxie and JJ's Lucky boinking. I think Shiobhan showed up shortly after...

The father figure he met two months ago. Okay, Show.

I laugh at all the handwringing over McConkey's death when he had told everyone he didn't have much time left. Everyone is acting as if it was totally unexpected, when it really wasn't.

I love Ric. Always have, always will. @jsbt described him very well upthread. It always saddens me when a good actor and character has to be totally trashed because they threaten Sonny/MB. Same thing happened with Ted King/Alcazar.

yeah. but he did that while strung out. i'm simply pointing out if he had been sober. that never would have happened so using that as a mirror to say "Lucky is abusive" is very disingenuous to me.

no. most people are.  and I mean i always respect your opinion even if we don't agree. but like for me personally i wouldn't call recasted characters "Lucky" (or "AJ" because I liked Billy Warlock in the role, even though I preferred SK's AJ myself). but then I'm never really anti re-casting either.   While I am happy Lucky is coming back for me personally it's pretty much "second coming of Luke." and I'm not... really keen on on that myself. the one thing I did like GV's Lucky is that  he wanted to grow out of the whole 'running a con, living on the run lifestyle." i think there needs to be a blend of the "there's Spencer running in my veins ie: some Bad Decisions, or you wanna be some kinda of mischievousness. but i like JJ, and he'll clearly do a great job and it will be great seeing GF & he together (and Becky and he) but like I said for me - not fond of JJ's adult Lucky. but i am really happy for those who are stupidly happy that he'd back and how they want him to be.

me too. and just like everyone else . beyond annoying

See, I know that Lucky shares a lot of Luke like qualities but Lucky was also a cop, and a good one (other than the town wide inexplicable need to white wash everything Sonny, but with Lucky, it did come from his parent's relationship with him). Him and Dante had a great relationship. I really hope we see him on the force again, and him and Dante's friendship again.

that's why i am kinda surprised that RH came back basically because they trashed is character so poorly [both times] and I remember him [and Ted King which is why he quit] - that when you're always losing to Sonny, you have to ask yourself what's the point?

yeup that will be nice to see, i agree.
Like ultimately i know really everyone loves their favourite version of the character if there is a recast. for me - Eden Riegel will always be Bianca when I think about her, Heather Tom will always be Victoria Newman and Jonathan Jackson will always be Lucky [for most people]. but in this case for me, I just really liked Greg Vaughan's. but i will give JJ a fair shake [again] :)

I don’t know. I think it’s more TR isn’t in the best of health these days. He certainly looked better in this week’s show, but he’s been looking quite frail and he hasn’t been on Twitter much either.

Yes.  That's what I meant by the writers perhaps not being able to write for him.  I hope there was an unavoidable reason that he wasn't front and center in the Anna storyline, rather than it being because the writers simply chose that direction.

The Hearst/Herbst (hee) chemistry has always been so good. I hate that Ric had to be ruined to keep Sonny as the hero.

Ric and Becky are both chemistry magnets.  I swear either one of them could have chemistry with a tree stump.

But like I said, he's the ONLY LUCKY as far as I'm concerned, and I'm really hoping he got some gaurantees-IN WRITING-that Frank, and the rest of the assholes won't FUCK with the character of Lucky. It's why he left after only a year the last time he came back.

At this point, I'm counting down until JJ and Genie reunite onscreen as well as JJ and Becky.

Unfortunately the ruination of Lucky seems to be continuing with turning him into a carbon copy of Luke, at least so far.  I’m hoping some of that JJ magic will kick in once he’s back in PC.  I’d love to see him back with Liz and I wouldn’t even be mad at a triangle between Liz, Lucky, and Jason ( ducks tomatoes).

  • LOL 2

Yeah I don't like the Luke clone stuff but I definitely don't want Lucky back on the force.  That never really worked for me, and now with Anna in charge the PCPD is an absolute train wreck.  Lucky needs to shower and wash away the Luke shit and then just focus on reconnecting with Laura, Liz and the family.  He can figure out work and all the rest later, preferably going in a new and different direction altogether.

Liz to TJ: He's not in a coma but he's not conscious. Twilight state?

So neither of you two "medical professionals" has heard of the Glasgow coma scale?

"So if you're going to speak ill of someone, you should do it while they're alive. Preferably to their face."  Tracy/JE is absolutely awesome.

I'm really not impressed with Lois and Olivia's lower class mannerisms. It doesn't make them better people. And yes, if Lois is going to be the Deception spokesman, Tracy gets to set the terms.

I didn't know that tripthongs was a thing.

"It's kind of hard to get a good night's sleep when you wake up to an accessory-to-murder charge."  Carly, you should be used to it by  now.

Sonny and Carly redux #1493934      Zzzzzzzzz

For someone who was obsessed with controlling Kristina's every move, TJ has seems to have moved on from the baby pretty quickly.

LOL that TJ says he's not experienced in "this field" (neurology?) when examining Dr. Gannon, yet he continues to try to diagnose the patient.

Also, you agreed to Sonny's idiotic demands! Gah.

Kristina, when you say you're glad someone is a worthless POS and dead, don't be shocked when someone asks you if you killed him.

I loved Diane's disgust and skepticism that Carly and Sonny slept together.

Well, when you are one of the few doctors on staff, you have to pitch in on all cases! :-)

I still think there should be a flourishing psychiatric / counseling clinic in Port Charles, because there are a lot of people who need it!

What writer thought it was a good idea to highlight TJ's ineptness? You don't lampshade something like this. It's GH, we know the infectious disease specialist is totally qualified to work in the ER on gunshot cases, so TJ not knowing what he's doing is hardly unusual at GH. Just say a neurologist (or whatever specialist is called for) will come in later.

What the almighty hell is Jordan going on about with her OTT involvement with the hit and run victim?! Why is she standing vigil outside his room, and involving the mayor's office, and pimping herself out to BRICK to find out who he is??!! Someone get her a life!

Ava and Rick could be interesting (and pretty) together as they are both (charcoal) gray characters. Then he could help parent Avery, much to Sonny's horror.

I guess I will be seeing the sports medicine doctor again for a cortisone injection to treat my trigger thumb from hitting the FF on Lois & the voice coach who never stops smiling inappropriately! Boo if this is Tracy's next story.

The first doctor who saw Gannon, the ER specialist who handed him off to TJ, that's the doctor who should have been working on him. Yes, a neurologist or even an internal medicine specialist like Portia. NOT the second year resident who has never heard of the GCS.

Isn't the dialect coach a woman from SNL? I can't recall her name at the moment. Yes, she seemed to be smiling a lot as if there's an inside joke there. Maybe she got this job because she's friends with someone on the show.

Poor TJ.  He took that whole neurology rotation when Gregory was suffering from ALS, and managed to walk away with...nothing.

The absolute gall of this show to make it seem like Tracy is some sort of uptight prude because she's disgusted by two miscreants using her bed to fuck on and then not even straightening it up.  We know it's not true and it was left that way for an alibi, but Ned/Lois/Olivia/Brooklyn/Gio don't.

I also resent that Tracy was made to look like a snob for wanting a dialect coach for Lois. Cosmetics are bought because you want to look or belike the person hawking it and in real life Lois would turn off a lot of people.

Now Tracy .... anything she was selling, I'd buy.

Nina suddenly wanting to help Ava is slapped out of nowhere writing, especially since Nina is close with Kristina.  Nina also isn't stupid, expecting Ric to be the lawyer when it was his grand neice/child?

Alexis really really didn't deserve her law licence back. Minutes after having it she's dropping a gun without asking questions off the bridge and being caught.

I hope she holds a cleansing ceremony to burn the mattress and accidentally burns down the Quatermaine Wing for College Students Who Should Live Elsewhere. Joss living on the Q estate irks me so very much. That includes Gio.

Frankly, I would not take decorum or dialect lessons from someone who is sporting a mullet that Joe Dirt himself would scoff at.

STFU and DIE, Anna.

And FUCK the writers for doing Jagger dirty.

What am I missing here about Lucky? I just see Lucky-nothing that he is channeling Luke or acting like him. What? Because he’s winning at poker? At least he’s not trying and using those horrid accents Geary was famous for using.

Best parts for me were the scenes with Robert and Mac-Robin shout outs! And Awwww, Mac offering to tell he about Jagger. At least Robert showed some regret and sadness at Jagger’s murder. And that SMILE at Mooby topping the suspect list.

And Jane Elliott is AWESOME! She had me 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 at her gagging and horror.

Personally, I love Sarah Sherman, but this storyline is stupid beyond words.

I laughed at Tracy's reaction, and Olivia's escalating offers to take care of it.

Did they show us what was done with the gun that Sonny shot Jagger with?  Because I have this suspicion that it's going to end up being recovered from where Alexis dumped the gun Kristina used. And that will convince Alexis that Kristina did kill Jagger, so she'll take the fall for her to protect her. And that fucker Sonny will let her.

I was mildly amused at how disgusted and exhausted both Carly and Diane were about Sonny's plan.

NLG has been doing such a good job showing how freaked out Alexis is over Kristina.

And Liz's reactions to Ric wanting to drag her to the PCPD to tell what they saw reminded me of how excellent Becky has always been at giving good bitchface.

And thank God he's not wearing a Luke style wig and fake glasses disguise. But how long are we going to have to wait for him to reunite with his mother and land in PC? I am so looking forward to his first scenes with Genie and Becky.

I will say this for today's episode, I legit laughed out loud more than once between Tracy and Diane reacting to Sonny and Carly.

It is past time for the show to realize Jordan, particularly this version, is pointless. Just a charisma vacuum. I skip her stuff even faster than I do Josslyn.

Speaking of whom. Spare me the drama about two exes hooking up from the girl who can't stop jumping into bed with Dex. Also Sonny and Carly have been married many times. I mean I don't really want them back together, but no one should be shocked, just grossed out.

Hiring Ric to be Ava's lawyer for the charge of killing his grandchild in utero is maybe the worst idea Nina has ever had. But it was a joy to have those three pros in a scene

Jordan indicated why in Thursday’s episode. She is obsessing on this case to distract herself from the pain of her granddaughter’s death

Honestly, in regards to the Lois thing - i sort of see it. I don't have a problem with her voice. but I see it akin to Fran Drescher. I love her, and I love the work she does in regards to fighting Cancer, but sometimes the voice can be a bit much. and all it takes is one bad day at work, or you have a headache, you turn on the television, you're ready to just buy something and the spokesperson just has this. voice. that. just. grates. and it turns you off. where like 90% of the time you'd probably be okay with it and buy/support whatever they are peddling.

so in this regards. (heavy handed as it is. per everything on this show). Lois has a phone call ripping her voice, after her hearing someone ripping her voice, and she feels self conscience. I don't blame her for wanting to sound a bit modulated. (i remember Tabyana started and a lot of people were ripping her baby voice, and I pointed out - as someone who has that kind of voice - you just can't help it. and it hurts your vocal cords if you just try to speak at a lower register) - but with a dialect that's more of just how you pronounce/speak.

Tracy as [whatever she is] at Deception does have the right to have her spokesperson present in a certain way if feedback is saying that it is not working. it would be different if everyone was happy with it and Tracy was not - but Lois isn't too happy, the customers aren't happy and Tracy is not, which means they should correct it if possible.

I have to wonder how differently these stories would've played out if Mulcahey had been allowed to stay on. The show has really hit a new low since he departed. Completely unbearable. Worse than it was at the lowest point of previous lousy headwriters' tenures. Those would at least have some other small stories that were a saving grace but here there are absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever. From Cates' murder, to Kristina's planned baby theft, to Lois' accent, to the merry runaround on Sasha and Cody, to Lucky's return, to Danny becoming Jason's follower, to Anna protecting Valentin (it was bad with Peter, but at least she believed him to be her son) ... everything is a shit-show.

Why is gio on the show? He doesn’t do anything  .

At first I assumed (as many others did) that he would be revealed to be the long-lost son of someone on canvas, but at this point I don't see what weight that reveal could have. I have to presume that he was created purely because someone liked his violin playing or so that the writers could earn something off the fact that the character's of their own creation. If not, they should just have made him a Cameron recast. They resemble each other right down to the asexual vibe. I fully expect that, when he finally falls into bed with either Joss or Trina, he'll have the sheet tucked under his chin like ex-Cameron did. What a waste killing off Rory.
