Culture Check: How can we discuss a character's or actor's appearance without objectifying them? How can we express likes or dislikes and still respect an individual's humanity or be mindful that a character represents a person someone else might relate to or identify with?

Snoozer holiday party, snoozer episode.  Once upon a time, there would have been as many people at a Q holiday party as there are at PC weddings and funerals. 

The tree in the Q's foyer was nice.  So was Ava's blouse, although one might have to be MW to pull it off.

I guess Liz taking on that extra shift will put her in the spotlight when the presumed attempted (or successful) poisoning of Dex comes about.  Was Felicia present both times, too?  

I don't see how Michael won't know that Sasha's baby is also his.  I guess she could try to make him think she's had more than one ONS, but I can't see him buying it.  Can't remember----did she tell him about Cody?

my grandma died shortly after my father died more unexpectedly. It wasn’t that I didn’t love my grandma it was just I didn’t  have any more room for it. My mom apparently started grief counseling for the same reason, and her therapist told her it was normal with two big losses like that and she wasn’t the worlds worst daughter. 
 

Lulu’s learned she’s lost 4 years with her kids, one of them is missing, and her dad is dead. Of course finding out about Bobbie was a big, “of course Bobbie is dead too” moment. 
 

My sister was so disappointed one Christmas when she acknowledged how much I’d sacrificed as caretaker for our mom and one Christmas offered to not only pay for me to go on vacation but also to come look after our mom. It was such a generous offer and my literal reaction was, “oh great what is going to ruin this”? Instead of being grateful, I literally braced for impact because every bit of good for 7 years had been superseded by something horrific.  It was my Christmas 2019 gift.  
 

 

You’re lucky anyone in your family showed any recognition.  When my dad died last spring, neither of my siblings had done much of anything to help, and barely acknowledged that I did.  Even though I had sacrificed the precious 2 years to take care of him.  Which turned into seven days a week during the last eight months.  And they barely visited too.

Yeah, that's starting to scare me. Alexa Havin has been doing a splendid job and now the writers want her to become one of the Snarlys. Maybe moving Lulu into Maxie and Tracey's (!!!!) orbit will derail that.

They’ve got to quit turning most of the hotter chicks on the show into insufferable bitches.  I will be pissed if they manage to make Alexa Havins repellent.  Which is not beyond the scope of the current writing staff.

No lawyer of Martin’s stature would ever cave as easily as he did to SLS.  Most would have dare him to go squealing to Sonny.  Now I could understand if Martin caved under actual torture.  But a threat from a little punk like Michael?  Please.

Given that Martin is a borderline senior citizen, I’m surprised SLS didn’t sucker punch him.

I thought for a minute that the sex tape was going to be streamed all over town. When Elizabeth seemed to be having computer trouble before the alarms sounded, and the video showed at the Qs, it looked like someone hacked into the system and was broadcasting it everywhere, including at the PCU stadium. Now THAT a would’ve been soapy Lol!

but I still loved that ending!

I can only imagine somewhere in Llanview, Tessica is watching all this go down at a football game while wearing a hideous outfit and can legitimately say, "wasn't me!"

The contrivance of suddenly all of Port Charles being dedicated PCU football fans cracked me up.  And what a dud of a party: 10 people, most of whom live on the property, all just wanting to watch TV.  

Is Sofia Mattson pregnant again?  Is that why there's going to be an unnecessary Corinthii spawn.

Loved Nina calling Drew that he was using Scout to be near Willow.  He's the worst.

Yes. There was a throw away line earlier this week about how Phyllis returned to Nixon Falls. So now there’s no one to mange Charlie’s.

PCU is on the verge of going to their first bowl game which means 1) PCU has a historically bad D1 football program or 2) their D1 football program is pretty new. Since this is the first time we've ever heard of Port Charles University having a football program (unlike the world class medical school, law school, undergraduate school, and music school), it's probably the latter. 

I laughed when Trina wondered if she was the reason Kai was off his game. Girl, if you yelling at him about an art history project is enough to rattle him, PCU is going to have to wait until next year to get their first bowl game. 

I also laughed when the Drew/Willow sexcapade popped up on screen. I knew it was coming and the timing of it was really funny. it was the Q Christmas version of the Heidi Game only far less wholesome.

I wonder if the show will ever tell us if PCU made it to a bowl game or it's just going to be one of those many little dangling plot threads that never get resolved.

Gio played the National Anthem for the game, yet received no complimentary tickets for family and friends to attend. Are there no bleacher set dressings lying around? Trina and Joss would have had the exact same story from the bleachers as they did watching from Joss’s phone, save for Tracy yelling at them.

Also, I actually liked Carly yesterday. It was funny seeing her completely in the dark on the Michael/Drew drama, trying to gather intel from Olivia like a gossiping high schooler.

I also think Sonny did it, maybe through Spinelli/Brick, hacking or bribing. I thought he would just try to kill her so that’s more interesting.

Rick wouldn’t stay around a poor woman unless it’s against his brother so we’ll see how long the alliance lasts.

Did we not get a Thanksgiving episode because we needed certain people to see the video and they would not be invited to a family gathering, so early Christmas party it is? 🤔

I liked the cliffhanger and hope today’s ep will be soapy, angsty, and fun and Nina gets to slap Drew again and again.

Nope. We went from Sam dying on Halloween to weeks of same day or day after of her death to it suddenly being December and Christmas is approaching.

Yeah, I'm blaming Mooby for this. After all he and Kristina had their heads together about making Ava "pay" one way or another.

I'm disappointed that Alexis just didn't continue to just walk out of Charlie's after telling Kristina the way she's acting and treating Molly is "her" choice. Kristina, after acting like a Supreme Heifer, all of a sudden whines "don't give up on MEEEEE!"

I don't have children (due to medical conditions and now I've aged out), but I wanted to snatch Kristina bald when she whined to Alexis that Molly wasn't "acting like it" regarding grief. She should be grieving and acting just like Kristina. And then to top it all off, she says she needs her sister Sam, not Molly. So Sam dying didn't make her realize how short life is and how grateful she should be to still have Molly. And yep, right on schedule, gloating about hearing that Molly and TJ broke up.

Me either! And she was sashaying around, acting like a gossiping teenager, trying to find out what was going on.

I think the two couples were having dinner at the same time, so I don't think Natalia could have done it.  Of course, time is all relative on GH.  I think it was Sonny though.  I think he had it ready to go if she got a not guilty verdict.  Others said he could have had Brick do it, which I hadn't thought of.  That makes sense.

I wish Alexis would have told Kristina that her offer to be TJ and Molly's surrogate wasn't conditional.  "I will be your surrogate only if you don't split up.   If you give the kid candy before dinner, I will take him/her back."

eta.  Keeping MY baby.   Wasn't half of the baby's DNA TJ's?

What Cassadines are there that can reverse Ava's divorce settlement? Isn't Nicholas the only one left? And I'm pretty sure she/her lawyer would be involved in any discussions about reversing them.

Carly is awful. Michael is an adult, he can handle this without his mom's help. Drew is awful.

And Dex dies. So in the dead boyfriend count,  Josslyn is up 2-1 on Trina.

I think the writers were vaguely referencing Thanksgiving when (during the Lulu/Rocco/Dante reunion scenes) Dante told Rocco to make mom a turkey sandwich.

Honestly, I would be okay with Kristina gloating about the break up to TJ's face instead of to Alexis. He was such an unrepentant asshole to her throughout the pregnancy that he kind of deserves to hear "I was right" from her.  I don't know if it's the actor or the writing (probably both) but I feel like he was way more invested in hating/putting down Kristina than he ever was in actually becoming a father. 

Drew really is the WORST. Honorable mention goes to BLQ for telling him to keep her mother's name out of his mouth when he started attacking Ned about his past. He really was a smug and unapologetic asshole through all of it. 

WK was so awesome in this episode with Ned calling out Drew while Michael silently sulked.  And JE was the second VIP. Loved how Tracy said "ugly" to Drew and stood by Ned's side to tell Drew even his father wouldn't have done something this low.

Shut UP, Gio. And Trina, you know nothing about Drew. But leaving the party to go flirt with Kai is a really weird reaction to seeing a video of her best friend's SIL having sex with her best friend's brother's uncle.

I really liked Dante saying Lulu is only a danger to herself, lol. The Dante-nuLulu scenes at Wyndemere were great!                                                                     

And Bye, Dex. Am I supposed to feel sorry for Joss? I don't. I feel sorry for Elizabeth.

I really need Weeping Willow to get what's coming to her. Shes really trying to take the kids over to Nina's after her gross affair was exposed. Leave them there and take your ass to Nina's. You cheated, you were outed, but yeah sure make it look worse bolting with the kids when you started the end of your marriage. And UGH her trying to turn it around and play victim cause Micheal had that video. Is Dex really gone? I'm shocked.

So digitalis does work on blocks of wood after all. Dex had overstayed his welcome. He was useless. He was there to have sex with Joss and tell her how amazing she is. I do feel bad for the actor, though. 

So he is going to place Cyrus on the floor right before Dex's machine started screaming? Anna? Is Felicia going to remember something from the park?

That said, Joss's body count is starting to mount. She might end up giving Michael a run for his money.

Trina and Kai have no chemistry. But it's nice that she isn't screaming at him for a change.

How can the Cassadines overturn Ava's divorce settlement? Who is left in that family besides Nikolas who is in prison? And wasn't Ava independently rich before she married Nikolas? It's not like the paintings she displays at her art gallery are on the cheap side. 

I was looking forward to Willow being on the receiving end of Carly just so that she could feel an ounce of what Nina felt when Carly was always in her face under the guise of protecting Willow. But honestly, nobody should have Snarly in their face and she's in full on Cujo mode because Michael can't tie his damn shoelaces without mommy there to do it for him. He's such a wet stinking rag. And where did Carly go when she went upstairs? Did she go to tell Monica what happened?

I don't think taking the Wylie and Amelia in the dead of the night from their home was the right call, Nina. 

Drew is an unapologetic asshole. Nothing is his fault. It was really Sam's fault for dying. Then he proceeds to hide behind women's skirts and little children, including his grieving daughter. If this was the Titanic sinking, Drew would be Billy Zane's character. Or he'd throw his name and money around, because Navy Seal Drew is brave like that.

It's SLIGHTLY possible that Michael will be a mature person for once, at least when it comes to Willow -- get Carly out of her face, refuse to have custody battles, etc. I think his conscience is genuinely bothering him about what happened with Sasha, and he mostly thinks Drew took advantage of Willow.

I can't believe how boring the Trina and Kai conversations are, especially compared to the Sprina magic.

Same! I was hoping that with the talk about Ava’s money being taken by the Cassadines (echoing @YaddaYadda, who outside of Nikolas? Stephan?), we would be treated to a brand new or oldie Cassadine, but no, it’s little Miss Eveready Bunny.

The storyline reminds how often a female character is stuck looking for their kid (ex. Nina (Nelle/Willow), Laura (Spencer and Lucky), now Lulu with Charlotte, while dads just leave them to go have their lives, apparently.

I was extremely disappointed that Nina, in wanting to protect Willow, didn’t take 5 minutes to yell at Drew. Instead, we got Carly doing all the yelling and Michael cowering in the corner. Not a good look.

I was just starting to like Dex and his newly found smile and they go axe him. It reminded me of the Brando death. Plot recycling galore.

Now it’ll be a whole month of Joss whining. Not looking forward to that.

I got a Christmas Miracle and I am seeeing the Qparty. Joss and Trina yelling at Tracy to keep it on the game. - fools go watch it at your place
 

the fact that Ned and Tracy are hackling like hyenas kill me. and then Tracy's no let it play. oh she's living for this moment. Trina being the adult. to Joss's I wanna be there for MIchael was smart. (and Joss better remember her ass cheated too so shut up in advance).

How the hell does Drew know about Katherine Bell? and Monica and Ned sleeping with each other? Also Drew. yeah don't throw stones through your glass house there boy. 

Olivia stopping Nina but holding her hand was nice. (did they become friends or somethin?)

You know. I can't even really enjoy Willow being read for filith. (shut up Carly) because Michael. you cheated. You screwed Sasha and you're hiding this so no no matter how i feel about emotional affairs and the kiss and whatever you don't get to sit there looking all hang dog like "oh no what do i do"

Okay shut up Carly. 

Sasha. shut up. you slept with Willow's husband. like shut up. 

Michael. YOU SLEPT WITH SASHA. SHUT UP. 

Carly. They are Willow's children too. So. say it with me. SHUT UP.

but omg that was so incredibly soapy. I need my soap smokes man. that was so good.
