  1. Okay, I know that I can't let this go, but how does the daily stress of finding enough money to run the estate end up being less taxing than leaving when her visa expired and reapplying for another work visa? And, Higgins taking the repo job because she needs the money? What would Magnum get out of it or since he has a free room does she expect to keep all of the money they earn in their partnership? And, I think that the two trees they hid behind this episode were the same ones they hid behind during the last episode. Higgins sure has magical healing abilities.
  2. Yes, many of the younger generation are that careless. One reason is they expect everyone else to help/pay and another is that there is a rejection of knowledge/experience of those who are older. Sigh. However, there are also many who are very responsible.
  3. She told him he was wrong about EVERYTHING and then pouted and acted out about their problems. I think it's totally about the green card as she was so insistent about him having to change everything, yet still married him. Sadly I don't think very many of these couples realize that the beginning of a romance is usually the most happy time, so if one is miserable at that point there's not much hope of an improvement in the relationship.
  4. Although I really like Pillow Talk, I find that I have become less interested in watching it due to some of the cast members they have started including in the show. I'm also getting annoyed with some of the things they do to show that they are just like us watching the show (i.e. facial masks, clipping toe nails, all of the eating, etc.). Just get back to engaging cast members who let loose with the snark and comments while watching.
  5. I also found it interesting that Lori is trying to take Kevin's story-telling persona. Do you know how diamonds are made? Geesch, that is a very common bit of knowledge-Kevin often talks about more obscure stories/facts.
  6. The toy thing is symbolic of what I think has undermined education-people with little or no actual educational experience start writing curriculum without understanding the nuances and challenges involved in teaching and learning. It was only when trying to find out more that the one guy taught kindergarten for two years. The presenters were very self-impressed with where they went to school that they thought they had all of the answers and insights necessary to create an electronic learning toy. I thought the sharks made a lot of good points and was really surprised that Robert went back in and made an offer. I think the carry-all woman will drive Barbara and Mark crazy as her 'nervous' energy seemed to be more than nervous energy. Ice cream woman really had no intention of accepting an offer. I like Mark's rule number two - if you're already planning an exit strategy, you don't have passion for your product. I agree with above posters that the high fat/high sugar in the ice cream masks the vegetables. I also agree that one is not teaching children to eat vegetables if the vegetables are hidden. Did any of the sharks ask about cost/price? I don't remember. I did like seeing what some of the companies are doing to adjust to shut-downs during COVID.
  7. I wasn't suggesting that the LAPD would understand him, rather than he would understand how to work within that institution. It would be getting the confessions that would take figuring out.
  8. Actually, he demonstrated many times during the series how very smart and capable he was, so I don't think the police department would present obstacles to him, I think it would be very much a story of how he figured out to best get suspects to underestimate him. Kind of trial and error about how to get suspects to slip up.
  9. I am over Lori and her "I'm an inventor..." as far as I can remember (and I'm probably wrong), she designed a jewelry case and other items-she didn't invent them. Jewelry cases have existed for centuries, she redesigned one. She highlights how many patents she owns, but I believe that part of her details include her gaining the patent rights that others were awarded. She is very successful (vast understatement), but her self-portrayal is a bit different than what she has done. At least in her most recent info-commercial she admits that she "found" a handy purse that she loves. And, I guess it does improve sales when she appears in the commercials.
  10. Although I love the scenery and enjoy the show, it really bothered me for the entire episode that Robin gave Higgins the estate. What about gift taxes? An estate like that would incur ongoing costs of at least one million dollars a year (upkeep, insurance, property taxes, etc.). Why was that the better option than Higgins going back to the U.K. (which they all treat as equivilent to a death sentence...[she would have to go back-oh, the horror!]) and reapplying for her visa. And, if she is such a super smart special agent, why did she overstay her visa in the first place? Charging "five figures" for rent in the guest house covers maybe only the dog food. Would Robin really want to see his property going into foreclosure (I have no idea if there's a mortgage or not) or being run down to the point that it would be extremely expensive to repair? None of this story line makes any kind of sense to me and it lessens my enjoyment of the scenery and escapism. Sorry for the long rant, but sometimes there are stories that I just can't wave away. What to me would have made more sense is that he donate the estate to a cultural/heritage organization but provides that only Higgins can perform a certain task which would make getting a work visa easier as she would be deemed essential to the running of the cultural site. Okay, I'll end. But, I will add (in order to have a positive comment) that I just loved all of the opening shots that showed the beauty of the island.
  11. Or even a "rival" from the season in which they appeared. One of Will/James with one of Leo/Aparna or one of the blonde sisters... Could be interesting to watch them going from targets to partners.
  12. Yes, but I would still watch those episodes (and do) over almost everything produced today (and, in fact there are a couple of the newer episodes that rank among my favorites).
  13. Wow, Gary must have worked really hard to keep DeAngelo from quitting if DeAngelo wanted to leave after the first leg. I wonder why Gary chose DeAngelo as a partner in the first place.
  14. In my opinion, there was a significant factor in Gary and DeAngelo deciding to take a penalty versus other teams that continue racing even knowing they are in last place and that is the fact that the pit stop was there in the same square. There would be no bad taxi incident, getting lost, etc., that would allow someone in last place to pass someone else in getting to the pit stop. Having written that, I really did not enjoy the last part of this episode once the gang of three decided to work together. Do I think that DeAngelo was a poor sport at the mat? Yes. But, I also think the other three gloated a bit too much. I was actually enjoying the episode when Hung and Chee were behind the other teams as I thought there was a possibility of breaking up the gang of three. On a personal note-I would have hated the high-heel challenge as one wrong move and there goes an ankle (and, yes, when I was younger I wore heels but no more...).
  15. I miss seeing Robert as he truly gets excited about many of the products. I would have liked to see one of the Sharks try those boots, and Robert is the one most likely to try something. I was surprised that the presenter did not ask any of them to come up and try the boots. Makes me wonder if they're not quite as easy to use as he said they were...
  16. Ever since the season that Adam didn't have anyone in the finale, the producers have certainly ensured that all of the coaches are represented because the coaches are obviously the stars, not the contestants... I think Blake's chances of winning are actually hurt when he has more than one contestant in the finale as it would split the votes.
  17. According to my watching several versions of this show, I feel that I am qualified to state that the contestants who claim they have high emotional intelligence actually don't...
  18. Have started rewatching this series and am impressed with how good it is. On second watch I really appreciate the seeds they planted in the first season that developed during the series (not always how I wish they had developed). I actually like the character of Juliette better with the rewatch. I, too, would like a sequel with the children.
  19. What Aparna is missing is that u-turning them ended up being the right decision as Gary and DeAngelo did not beat them by much at the end. Although it sounds good to try to eliminate a stronger team, it may not always be a smart choice as a stronger team most likely would have finished ahead of DeGangelo at the tile task and thus Gary and DeAngelo would have been eliminated. The choice to u-turn a stronger team does not always work out that way (i.e. Will and James u-turning Leo and his team mate [am forgetting her name right now]). The decision to u-turn Aparna and her brother ended up being the exact right decision for Gary and DeAngelo. I could only hope to have patience that is 10% of what Hung and Gary demonstrated at the tile task. They were amazing in not becoming anxious and frustrated about their team mates' performances at that challenge. And, on another note, I do think that Will and James mug for the cameras and in no way do I use that word as "code" for anything. Sometimes an observation/opinion is just that, an observation/opinion. I have had the same opinion of many teams throughout the season that has encompassed many different teams of many different relationships.
  20. I really enjoyed this episode. I hope they start an annual tradition. The only performance I didn't care for was Sia as I'm not a fan of hiding one's face (especially as facial expressions are, in my opinion, a part of the performance). I had previously seen some of these performances although not all of them. I do enjoy holiday specials and miss Michael Buble's Christmas specials (he was on this episode so I felt that comment was related to the episode [I know it's a super weak connection...]).
  21. I just LOVED this finale! I did NOT see that twist coming, but when it did it was delicious. What I really liked was how suddenly everyone knew exactly who Eugene was. The filter was gone, the fond memories were over and his children saw him for who he was. I also really liked that Eric was all about protecting his mother, and the four children standing with her as they watched the house burn. I so wish there was going to be a second season and perhaps there will be. I think it would be even more outrageous than this season as we now know these characters. I would guess that the Mark character is gone and it would be the four adult children siding with Margaret. This was so very satisfying and sad at the same time (due to the cancellation). I was hoping for this type of twist and plot development from other season finales (Fargo), and just savored every moment of this episode.
  22. Nothing was surprising or unexpected in my view. I actually have found this season to be boring (and deleted the episode as soon as the credits started so I missed the scene that many are talking about of Mike Milligan). Mayflower's quirks were annoying to me. I don't know if we were supposed to have empathy for any of the characters, and, if so, I certainly didn't. In the previous seasons there were characters for whom I had concerns about their futures. In this season, I'm glad that Satchel/Mike and his dog made it home, but that's about all. I agree with an above poster that there were too many characters for me to get to know or care about.
  23. So here is my positive thought-all of the American women look lovely when they wear the traditional clothing of the region in which they (very temporarily) live. I also think Deaven looked lovely in her wedding dress. I would imagine that a lot of the fighting between Jihoon and Deaven was about disciplining Druscilla or teaching her some manners. I did notice that the puppy was not at their apartment. Also, I would never believe in a million years the statement "I need to go to another country for a month in order to save our marriage..." Maybe Deaven realized that after the marriage episode there was no more story for them, so off to start another love story for the ages... Jenny sure presented a one-sided perspective about her time staying with father and mother Sumit (more of the real story is in their couple's thread). She sure went quickly from 'I'm leaving' to angrily intervening in the argument. The delusion is strong as Sumit clearly stated that the ring was not an engagement ring to Jenny presenting the idea that the ring meant they would be together forever. Brittany just needs to go home and leave Yazan alone. She still won't commit to him and instead is "we'll see what happens..." She also blamed Yazan during the episode so is shifting any responsibility away from herself.
  24. Sumit had some nerve to tell his parents they weren't there for him and were not on his side when they had to BORROW money to pay off HIS debt to his former father-in-law. And, I am probably in the minority on this, I don't ever want Sumit to be able to come to the U.S. as he started as a catfish and we have far too many scammers already here. If they really want to be together, they can figure it out elsewhere.
  25. Just watched this episode and am so not happy that TLC continues to reward Angela's blatant ignorance. Thinking Jordan is part of Israel and not knowing what Judaism is, yet she is paid to be on t.v.and featured on several versions of this show. She also continues to talk about hitting/ beating people which, in my opinion, is NOT funny. I'm also getting tired of David's "knowing" how everyone should react and/or do in every scenario "they should..." He thinks his opinion should override cultural traditions and the opinions of others. Alexi seems to have his own views/opinions that differ from what the other 90 Dayers say/promote. I did like that Loren admitted that she can be kind of 'extra'-I do appreciate self-awareness in some of the 90 Dayers.
