  1. I'm in the unpopular opinion group about not being as in love with Bennett and Amelia as others are. It must be my cynical nature as I think they are both just always "on" and actively performing for the cameras and the audience. I actually believe Bennett's friend from last week who stated that he signed up for this as absurdist performance art (and, just because she may have been jealous of Amelia does not mean that she was wrong...). And, I'm probably the only one who wondered if Amelia made sure that the line activity would not hurt the trees she used for it (well, I'm also one who kind of hates modern windmills used for wind energy because of the hundreds of thousands of birds who are killed by them...). I'm always amazed by the participants who think that they are better than the spouse with whom they were paired, because, you know, you signed up for this show BECAUSE you could not find a spouse on your own. Maybe not so much a prize...
  2. I really enjoyed Jepthe's interactions with his brother. I think that Jepthe and Shawniece just have too different of ways of communicating and dealing with issues that then leads to their frustrations with each other. Jepthe seems a bit similar to Brett in the current season in that they like to make jokes/use humor throughout their days and their wives either don't get the humor, don't appreciate the humor, or just don't like their husbands enough to try to lighten up. Also, Jepthe and Brett don't want to try and diffuse the situations by lessening their joking around (not that I would want to be married to them, but, then again, I didn't sign up for this show...). And, wow, did Bobby cook up an amazing dinner! That turkey looked perfect. And the pie looked really good (my favorite pie is pumpkin pie!). Yum. Although I was put off a bit by Jessica in the original season, I just love Jessica and Austin on this show. I don't watch Jamie and Doug so can't comment on them...
  3. Just rewatched season 8 and the finale. I found it very striking that four Starks survived (including Jon) and they ended up leading in different realms-Arya with new discoveries West of Westeros, Sansa at Winterfell, Bran at King's Landing, and Jon North of the Wall. So Ned's children were the winners of the war and will lead into the next generations. Well done Ned.
  4. So, all of these house hunters who expect to be able to rent out rooms to help cover their expenses-does it ever work out that way? I often think how I would never want to rent from some of the house hunters we see (and I often think how I would never want to stay in some of the homes that are really remote).
  5. I really, really hope that Bini is able to block Ari was taking their baby out of Ethiopia. I think the "princess" needs to learn a little bit about life-especially that she is not the only one in the universe whose feelings and thoughts matter. I am so Team Bini (well, at least for now).
  6. Henry actually spoke back to Christiana and stated that he would never in 10,000 years sign up for this. Yet, he did. So, his issue is really with whomever convinced him to sign up for this show even though he never would in 10,000 years (and yet he did...). He may have stated in "1,000 years" but that's still a lot of years (and yet he did...). So, it's on him if he signed up even though he didn't want to sign up. Christina was rude in not answering what was one of her favorite childhood memories (after not being able to identify her favorite memory). And then she turned it back on Henry with how superficial that question was. There are reasons that neither one of them should have signed up for this experience. I think they both had their "perfect" somebody in mind and the reality is not matching the image. Bennett and Amelia are not getting their deposit back. They not only did not have something under the mural cloth (and the painting went to the very edge so it seems reasonable to assume the carpet or floor actually got painted as well as the mural), but they nailed good size nails into the wall. I know Bennett said that he has an immature relationship with finances, but they were not in his detached bedroom but rather someone else's property. Oh, and some of their friends actually brush their hair. And, it looked like in one interview that Amelia had cut her hair. Loved Amani and Woody and hope that doesn't change. I think that both Olivia and Brett are laying their own groundwork for why their relationship will end. In reality, they never should have been matched if he wants children and she doesn't. I don't know about Karen and Miles. It seems like she has secret "tests" that he has to pass or something.
  7. Kalani doesn't seem to want to learn about Samoa, so why would she tell others to research it? In this episode she even asked her mother if she had issues with her father due to his being Samoan. Look it up Kalani, instead of ragging on the viewers who are responding to what YOU are showing us, spend some time and do some research. It's only 5 letters...
  8. Because I record this show I am actually able to fast-forward through quite a bit of it as 1) I'm not interested in Larissa, her make-believe relationship with George Glass Eric, or the ongoing saga about more plastic surgery, 2) I don't need to watch Angela intentionally demean Michael, 3) I can't stand watching Family Libby and their sense of superior entitlement which makes absolutely no sense as THEY are the ones who have been arrested for multiple crimes [not sure about convictions though], and 4) I am so over Kalani making herself a perpetual victim when she was talking smack about Asuelo to her sister and then blamed him for the fight as well as the fact that she chose to have a sexual relationship with him while on vacation and then thought it would be an excellent idea to marry him and have two children with him. However, I did watch enough to absolutely LOVE watching Father Andrei, Eleanor, and the baby donkey. I actually really enjoyed watching everyone have fun at the old Moldovian Village, but then, of course, Family Libby had to just hold on to all of their perceived hurts and grudges and ruin the light heartedness of the visit (they did this after the fact, but it still ruined the fun memories). I really felt concern for Karine during her scenes. It almost seemed like Paul looked at the cameras and changed his reaction to be more "loving" than how he really wanted to act. NEVER force someone to accept hugs and kisses when that person clearly and repeatedly said to stop. And, he went right to "I'll prosecute..." only to intimidate Karine to stay and not take Pierre anywhere. I also wondered if he really had any rights in Brazil (I know he does in the U.S. but don't really know about Brazil). For someone who cries "victim" about his own arrests and convictions he certainly went to "prosecute" pretty quickly. My fear for Karine is when the cameras are gone (like an above poster) and the contract with TLC is over. I hope the contract is over, but the producers may have been the only people that same Karine fairly consistently). There were two times that Mother Paul showed up thinking she would see Paul, Karine, and Pierre only to be told by Paul that Karine and Pierre wouldn't be there (after Mother Paul showed up to the meeting place), so I think Paul has isolated Karine away from his mother as well as other people. I also wonder if he threatens her with the dogs in some way.
  9. I am just so livid about Jamie and Beth. It appeared to me that their self-test was taken AFTER they returned home, not before they got on the plane to come home as they were in their apartment when they announced their "negative" results and her hair throughout the scenes looked more like her at home in San Jose hair than her vacation in NC hair. If so, they recklessly endangered everyone with whom they came into contact with while returning home. They should have immediately self-quarantined in NC after hearing about her parents before ever getting on the plane. I certainly hope someone did contact them about contact tracking and they start to realize how many lives they endangered due to their selfishness. It saddened me to learn about Henry, but it seems like he was well-loved and had a history of health related issues. I'm really glad the family went to see him before he was released from this life. The producers certainly have a lot to answer for in terms of encouraging several participants to travel and have contact with multiples of people. Of course, the participants are also very responsible for their actions that could endanger others. These types of non-caring, irresponsible behaviors are why I retired in July after the school district announced that students could take their masks off once they were seated in class. Too many people think they are immune or that they do not have to be careful thereby endangering others. I think the producers added the self-testing negative results scene to lessen viewer outrage about the trip. If anyone caught COVID from Jaime and Beth's irresponsible behaviors, I hope they are able to sue them as well as the producers for exposing unsuspecting people to the antics of these two and the show.
  10. I think Olivia really wants her money to be her money and that her husband would pay for everything else. I was getting a lot of Jasmine vibes from her (I think that's the name of the woman who wanted her husband to pay for everything while she spent her own money [and he was having none of that]). It's very telling that when Pastor Cal was there Olivia said that she told them what she wanted-someone with money. Not someone who was caring, intelligent, funny, etc., but someone who made at least what she made (although she also earlier stated that she didn't care if her husband made less than she did). She cares a lot about the income level of her husband. I have come across many people who spend what they think they make and never really account for all of the deductions taken out of one's paycheck. She knows what her salary is and may expect to be able to spend that amount, but what with various types of taxes and other deductions she may way overspend. However, what shocked me the most about her statements what that she equates entertainment with living life. She mentioned more than once that she didn't want to miss out on living life and having life experiences while connecting that with travel, etc. What she doesn't understand is that living life means dealing with broken appliances, compromising with others, dealing with day-in/day-out routines and chores, etc. She seems to think that travel and expensive meals are the only way of living life. She actually seems quite immature to me (well, and selfish as she wants what she wants without consideration of her husband's ability to take on those expenses). Move over on that bench for Team Brett... Am I the only one who was bothered when everyone looked out their windows by widening the individual blinds rather than just pulling up the blinds? That's how one gets bent blinds. I think Bennett and Amelia are very aware of the cameras. There was a look Amelia had when she first entered Bennett's detached bedroom (thanks previous poster for that insightful description of where he lived) which quickly changed to "I looooooove this..." I continue to really like Amani and am glad that Pastor Cal helped them work through their communication. I'm also glad that he tried to help Amelia and Bennett understand that there may be future disagreements. I think that both Christina and Henry are showing their negative attributes because neither one of them is happy with the match. Overall, I thought Pastor Cal did well with the couples.
  11. When the couple in Ecuador were making their decision the wife pointed out that they would have to hire someone to clean the pool and the husband responded that in the condo they would have to pay HOA to which she responded it wouldn't be as much as paying a pool person. What? HOAs for condos can be crazy expensive. I so wanted to hear what the HOA was going to be for the condo. Of course, they probably plan to rent out the condo and there's probably an on-site office that takes care of that. I really wish we would hear more about HOAs in general as they can really impact housing costs.
  12. I found it revealing that Tammy only lunged after Kalani as Kalani was walking away. Yep-trying a total blindside. Probably because she knew that if Kalani knew Tammy was coming after her, Tammy would end up in the water or on the ground. Want to clarify that I don't condone violence, but if someone is going after someone else, that person has every right to defend his/her self. And, I would have totally supported Kalani showing Tammy just who was in charge.
  13. Stacey and Florian: trying to compete with Darcey and Jesse Tom Georgie!
  14. I thought that Deaven looked beautiful (as did Druscilla) in the traditional clothing. I do wish that people would understand that just because one dresses modestly doesn't mean they won't look beautiful. Jihoon's family seemed very nice and were welcoming to Deaven. Just because I'm superficial-I'd love to know how much money was given to Deaven and Jihoon during the celebration. Deaven and Jihoon would stand a much better chance of learning how to live with each other if her mother would leave. Elicia not betting rid of her anger is teaching Deaven to hang on to hers. Life happens and sometimes people just need to move on. Ari is so very, very special. She really looked like she was going to have a break down. At least she acknowledged that she felt like she was on vacation while her mother was in Ethiopia with her. Maybe the romance of falling in "lust" and becoming pregnant while on vacation is turning out to be not so romantic. Tim and his girlfriend? Really don't care. And, if this is supposed to be "90 Day" why does he refer to her as his girlfriend and not fiance? Kenny-I have seen and used much worst toilet facilities than the one that you created a scene about. Not every country is like the U.S. And to not like guacamole? I can't even imagine... At least his daughter grabbed up the taco he wouldn't eat (she knows good food!). This is where I think age can become an issue. One gets used to what one likes and accepts and sometimes as we age, we don't want to change our standards (of course, there are many young people like this as well). Kenny and Armando have had very different life experiences. Actually, I view them as I view some of the other couples-what do you really have in common other than physical desire and "feelings" of love? Ever since Brittany told us that she was still married I haven't really cared about them. There's no potential future because she's STILL MARRIED.
  15. The show could have sent a strong positive message about appropriate behaviors related to COVID, but instead chose to show many participants ignoring science and government advice and policies. Interestingly, it was not that many episodes ago that both Keith/Kristine and Jessica/Austin were expressing concerns about working in health care and the precautions that they were taking. Jessica was crying in her car. Yet, in this episode all of that seems to be forgotten. I certainly hope that the producers aren't behind the change in tone as that would indicate that the participants are willing to expose themselves, their loved ones, and their friends in order to be on the show and gain whatever financial or social media rewards that are attached to being on the show.
  16. Has anyone found Miles' instagram stories that upset Karen? I don't have an instagram account and am not sure how to find his account. I think we would have a much better idea of Karen's expectations and Miles' behavior if we saw his stories. Anyone? Bueller?
  17. I think Pao is really trying to change her image. She referenced online comments being made about their relationship and appeared to try to be nicer to Russ. Maybe she realized that viewers have new "favorite" couples. I liked her pink hair, but wish she would either wear longer shorts, or would sit in a way that that it doesn't look like there will be a slip up and her "hoohah" might make an appearance. I've only watched the Pillow Talk from Sunday at this point, and agree with other posters that I'm glad the PTers called out Angela's behavior. They also agreed with me about Tania and Syngin. I only wish they had been shown the segment when Family Libby called the food that Andrei's mother prepared "peasant food" as I think the PTers would not have any patience for that level of disrespect.
  18. Andrei's family was just lovely to Libby's family who were just horrid and insulting. Calling the food "peasant" food after stating that the family lived in the "projects" is just beyond any kind of normal human reaction to people who are preparing feasts and welcoming one to their country and their home. Oh, and Jenn "I wish I was in Paris" well, guess what-it starts getting dark there early in the late fall and winter just like Moldova about which you are complaining. Tania and Syngin both want to be a free spirit while their spouse works in order to provide the income upon which to live. It's so rich to hear Tania complain about Syngin's lack of direction and career choice after leaving for 30 out of the 90 days they had to get married. And, who blows up like that while staying at their in-laws? She really believes that she has to be right about everything even when trying to convince her in-laws to support her over Syngin. And, this was supposed to be about Dylan (?) and his recovery. However, having written all that, I could never be "Team" anyone who had feet as dirty as Syngin's (ewwwwwww). I fast-forward Angela as I can't stand her. Have never liked her as I can't stand the abuse she has demonstrated towards Michael ever since early in their first season. Larissa and Eric are just too much. I still don't understand why she hasn't been deported. THREE domestic violence charges!!! Oh, and Coltee wants us to believe that he's a "good guy" while continuing to lie to Jess. Debbie looked excited about the fight she is anticipating once Jess gets to Vegas and finds out about Colt's lies.
  19. You're right about the writing. I remember an article about Peter Falk having a hard time finding scripts he liked when they rebooted the series. With all of the reboots we are seeing for both t.v. shows and movies, I think it's best to just leave some shows/movies alone as it is so very difficult to recreate the "magic" of what made something work in the first place.
  20. I really hope this is true. However, I was really surprised when reading the above article that the producers thought Tyra would bring in young, cool stars. Does she have far-reaching demographic appeal? I would love it if the producers had to crawl back to Tom and offer him double his previous salary...
  21. Whether or not events are "scripted," the show chose to show us Beth and Jamie acting irresponsibly regarding COVID. That's the story they're showing and that's the story I'm judging. The producers, as well as Beth and Jamie, showed us why there continue to be COVID spikes in that many people are acting irresponsibly and continue the COVID cycles. I certainly hope the producers tested Jamie and Beth before allowing them to interact with Greg and Deonna. Perhaps the parents' infection came after that as I am a bit confused by the timeline.
  22. That's really true. I also don't know who they would get for all of the villains as they were cast so well (generally) during the original run. Also-there really is only ONE Columbo! When they tried to make it work with Mrs. Columbo, we learned that even being closely related to him doesn't work...
  23. When Amelia spoke about how wonderful her childhood was, she used the example of asking her father if she could go over to a friend's house and he basically responded 'I don't care' I thought that might have been the genesis of her quirkiness. It's as if she is 'quirky' as a way to get attention. An ideal childhood in which one's parents don't care what one does? More likely she really wanted parental attention and developed a personal that guarantees attention as an adult. Anyone who has ever watched this show would know to respond with "10" whenever asked to rate their marriage, spouse, spouse's income, etc... We all learned that via Dave and Amber. I guess a rating of "9" also works (with the explanation that there is still so much to learn...). And, I am totally amazed that I am now on "Team Brett." How did that happen? I guess it's because Olivia shows that she wants things her way when she wants them. If it's clear the other person doesn't want to talk about something at that moment, give them some time. But, she kept pushing at him and when he did answer she basically told him he was wrong. No, just no. I also agree with numerous posters that her indication that she wasn't going to change anything about her schedule and social activities, it indicated that she wasn't willing to blend her life with Brett or compromise any of her preferred activities in order to accommodate Brett. I love Amani. I like her humor and how she interacts with others. I'm still mixed on Christina and Henry. I believe that the couples have specific producers that work with them. I would probably also be frustrated if the producer assigned to me kept getting my name wrong and kept referring to me with the name of a very questionable close friend of my new spouse for whom he may be carrying a torch. I also saw Henry's temper during the paddle board excursion and his inability to steer the paddle board. Yes, once he got the hang of it he started having a good time, but there was some temper first. I think they both have issues (as do we all...) but I also think they are a huge mismatch and for whatever reason the producers put them together, it's not enough to justify this match.
  24. I really hope he gets another show. I would say Jeopardy, but I don't want to see Alex leave in the near future and I really think Tom is best when he is free to ad lib and bring the humor.
  25. One reason that I have rarely had a negative or "bad" experience in my various travels (as well as living in Japan) is that I have dressed to respect the culture and traditions of the countries that I visited (and when I used to take students to Europe I would have various dress codes for them [i.e. appropriate clothing when visiting religious sites, etc.]). I know that, by golly, we're Americans and do whatever we want (insert eye roll), but I personally prefer to be respectful towards others-especially when a visitor to other countries. Therefore, I personally find Elicia (well, and Deaven) demonstrably being disrespectful towards the culture in which they find themselves. The short shorts are out of place. Want to know how to dress when visiting another nation? Look at how people dress there. When my mother came to visit me in Japan (many years ago), I told her what to bring and what to wear. She was so happy that I did so as while I was working and she was exploring and experiencing the city (Kitakyushu), she had an extremely wonderful experience and was respectful towards others at the same time. Yes, people can wear what they want. However, I do think that sometimes one should demonstrate respect towards other traditions and cultures. This does not mean one has to practice religious practices that do not ally with one's own religious views, but to respect the modesty and other aspects of the culture. Sorry this was so long-winded.
