  1. I hope it's funny for all of us who don't know the "New Girl" characters. I've never watched the show.
  2. Well, I became an Aly fan yesterday... she looked great and I hope to see her on the podium with an all-around medal! (and team and floor!)
  3. Young women that age just hug a lot anyway. When 2 girls meet up in the mall, they hug. So I don't think it's fake; I think it's just part of the culture of that age.
  4. Just a few differences from when I played (in the 80s-90s): Rally scoring The server can stand anywhere on the back line - they used to be relegated to the back right foot digs are allowed - when I played any time the ball touched you below the waist it was a dead ball incidental net touches are allowed net balls are allowed on serve libero position The up ref signals are different. It used to be "point to the floor to show ball down or raise hands to show out of bounds, then show point or side out." Of course that's mostly due to rally scoring. There's probably some other stuff I can't think of right now.
  5. I'm pretty ignorant in general about gymnastics, but I don't have a problem with the scoring system. I don't think it's confusing at all; a base of degree of difficulty and adjustments for execution. It's like diving or figure skating.
  6. I went to the 2nd week of the '96 Olympics. We saw track and field (saw Michael Johnson; he was so easy to pick out due to his posture running), baseball, women's basketball and volleyball (we saw Cuba and Brazil get into a fight!), the gymnastics exhibition, and synchronized swimming prelims. Actually I enjoyed the synchro best because I knew the least about it but the people around us were very knowledgeable and explained so much about it that I became a fan. Now every time I watch I try to hold my breath as long as the swimmers do, and even from my comfortable couch I can't do it.
  7. If you go to Google and enter "Olympic Games Rio 2016" some stats come up with a green header bar. If you click on the green bar you get various categories of results. I've found it useful today. Edited to add: well, now the green header bar isn't coming up. I dunno...
  8. Well, yeah. It requires an ability to control your muscles, heartbeat, breathing - your body.
  9. My favorite Big Bang Theory moment - on advice from Penny, Sheldon buys something for Amy to make up with her:
  10. One thing that bugged me about Georgette - those eyebrows! No woman who was as stylish as Georgette would have those eyebrows! Yeah, I know the Beau Bridges wasn't going to trim his eyebrows for the part, but it took me right out of the episode. But still, loved the last scene with Georgette walking away in those slingbacks.
  11. That was a really cool episode; they had 4 actors from the original Mannix episode - Mike Connors, Julie Adams, Beverly Garland, and Pernell Roberts (in his last TV appearance). The only weak spot was the actress they got to play the daughter; I wish they could have gotten the original actress, Dawn Lyn, who was a great little actress but apparently isn't acting any more.
  12. There are 2 syndication packages for Bonanza; MeTV is currently showing the "Lost episode" package. The "lost episode" package consists of episodes from these seasons: Season 6: 1 (Lothario Larkin) Season 7: 33 (all of them) Season 8: 19 out of 34 Season 9: 14 out of 34 Season 10: 16 out of 30 Season 11: 18 out of 28 Season 12: 28 (all of them) Season 13: 26 (all of them) Season 14: 15 (all of them) So if you have only seen episodes from TV Land, you will see all new episodes on MeTV - for now, anyway.
  13. I moved around a lot (within the US) as a kid, and I tend to pick up the accent of whoever I'm speaking to. Usually I don't know I'm doing it. When I was working in Mexico for a couple weeks, I learned enough Spanish to carry on simple conversations (I had some Spanish in high school); oddly enough, someone told me I spoke Spanish with a French accent.
  14. I don't see any reason to recast the part. He made a couple of indiscreet comments in an interview and apologized. Except for this forum, I haven't heard anything about it.
  15. Good hotels in Hawaii don't need a polygamous promotion. Plus, can you imagine how the other guests would react? Most would be annoyed at best with the chaos caused by the cameras, and TLC would either have to blur their faces or get permission to show them on TV, so it would be a lot more work for the film crew. Actually if my extended family could all afford to go to Hawaii, assuming this place was walking distance to the beach, this would be a great place for us. No worries about tracking in dirt/sand (it looked easy to clean), a kitchen area where we could prepare our own meals if we wanted to, and big enough where you wouldn't have be stuck in a room with everyone else at one time.
  16. Yeah, Whitney Houston knew how to sing the anthem without overdoing it. She was so amazing. Many times during the anthem I've just changed the channel for a couple minutes; sometimes when I switch back they're still singing. Don't they realize it's not about THEM? After Whitney, the best I have heard is the Dixie Chicks at Super Bowl XXXVII:
  17. A bit of an overreaction, don't you think? Killing his father? There's something wrong with that boy.
  18. Sheldon to Priya in "The Agreement Dissection", after Sheldon blackmailed Leonard into sign a new version of the roommate agreement: "You may have gone to Cambridge, but I'm an honorary graduate of Starfleet Academy."
  19. I haven't seen this discussed - the montage of Kody dancing. OMG, if nothing else this shows me that the producers must despise Kody.
  20. What did you all think of Sosie Bacon ("Charlene/Charlie")? I thought she did a great job on the show, but I did not care for her character. Do you think Charlie was added just to give Sosie a job?
  21. Just rewatched "Waivers of Extradition" - the episode with the guy who delivers cars along the interstate from El Paso to Los Angeles, murdering young women along the way, wearing a ninja costume and taking a souvenir from each murder. Boy, this was intense. The guy who played the murderer Jesse Ray Moore ("Why do they always have three names?") was so creepy! And the El Paso detective really was clever the way he manipulated Brenda, especially at the end. At the end of the chase, with the highway repair equipment tossed all around and the highway workers scattered, and Julio with a probable broken arm (Julio is such a badass!), Gabriel's first comment "Look what you did to my car!" just cracked me up.
  22. Part of the point of the "Catfish" program (the one where people discussed the phenomenon) was to show that anyone can fall for this, because it's hard to believe someone you have communicated with for weeks, months, years can be a liar. I don't blame Meri for being taken in by a con artist. I guess I blame her for lying to herself and others as to WHY she was looking for someone outside her marriage, but the show pointed out how it (catfishing) can happen.
  23. I loved Eileen and Kenny dancing at the very end. They really looked like they were having a blast!
  24. I'm not a big fan of Ken Jeong, but he was very funny in this. He and Louis in the hot tub - oh, those wigs! The "polite fight" cracked me up. Myself, I always give in after two cycles.
  25. (I believe it is a "she", but I'm going to stick with "he" for this...) They said they contacted him and spoke to him, but he refused to speak on Skype or Facetime. They did not play his actual voice, so I'm assuming he refused to give permission to tape his part of the conversation. They also did not show any pictures of him other than those on his web site. Also, Meri is sticking to the "I thought he was a friend, then it got weird and scary" story. She will NEVER admit that she was hoping for a way out of her horrible "marriage" and that she was emotionally attached to him.
