  1. Last night my local station played season 3's "Manhunt". This is the episode where dead women were showing up on beaches in groups of 3 - they were killed after being sadistically tortured with a cattle prod, and the bottoms of their feet were branded with the Roman numeral of their sequence of being dead. Brenda accidentally stumbled upon the killer in his boat cleaning business and almost became a victim. This episode is one of my favorites for several reasons: - The team was in full "let's get the guy before he kills again" action; everyone got a chance to contribute (except for Daniels who was "in MDC training"). - The killer was really an awful, scary guy, but we didn't catch on to who he was until Brenda did. She barely escaped by shooting him multiple times, but between shots she was still trying to get him to confess. - Brenda was in the middle of her symptoms of early onset menopause, with full-on hot flashes. I felt for her! I don't know how old she was supposed to be in this episode, but I'm sure any woman who has suffered from hot flashes knew exactly how she felt! - And finally, we had a wonderful proposal from Fritz - on his knee and everything. "I've come to the place in my life where I can't imagine living without you." I don't know what Fritz sees in Brenda - she's a train wreck - but that was a sweet, sweet moment. -
  2. I don't understand the technical scores either, but I enjoyed watching Adam Rippon's and Grant Hochstein's programs more than the others. When I first started watching figure skating I didn't really enjoy the dance, but now that I'm older I find that I appreciate the artistry more and more.
  3. Did anyone else find it odd that the children were expected to pay for preparing the will? I mean, free or not, it's the parents' responsibility to take care of that.
  4. It's discussed starting here: http://forums.previously.tv/topic/3425-small-talk-the-polygamous-cul-de-sac/page-3#entry1888017
  5. I think it's great that there are special dating sites out there - for Christians, for Jews, for farmers, for older people... I know several successful couples that have met on Christian and "mature people" dating sites. I'm not a Christian myself, but not all Christians are racist or repressed or homophobes - at least not the ones I know. Just want to get that out there.
  6. I'm glad Christy broke up with Fred - after that dinner with Christy and his daughter, I disliked him too. But my goodness, Harry Hamlin is looking gooooood these days! Sara Rue did a great job bringing some sympathy to her character too. And, just fyi for anyone out there - don't eat with bleaching cream on your face. And don't sleep in it, either; you will get a bad chemical burn.
  7. I guess the father found out Amy's last name? Because otherwise how could someone do a background check on her? I thought this episode was meh, but Jane Lynch is just so charming in it.
  8. Wow, small world - my mother (in western NC) always made that for Christmas too (without the bacon; I'll have to try that)! She just called it "hash brown casserole"; I have no idea where she got the recipe from.
  9. I'm not sure she was out of character. They keep surprising me with this character; at first she was "smart capable black woman who does all the work", but we're seeing her flaws.
  10. They were pushing it back a few weeks ago when they played the first couple episodes back to back, but come to think, I haven't seen any promos for it lately.
  11. I understand Kelly being put out, but yeah, it really wasn't Allison's fault. (Although putting down the boyfriend is never a safe thing to do until the 2 are DEFINITELY broken up!) I think if Allison wasn't just lonely she would have just moved on without the 2nd attempt. I mean, who needs a friend who walks away after you put your foot in your mouth? Regardless - this show is manic, but I really enjoy it!
  12. I noticed this too - he looked pretty buff there! I mean, for a scientist ;-)
  13. Huh. Try being from the South. If you believe popular culture, we're stupid, fat and bigoted, marry our cousins, don't have any teeth, and speak something other than English. If a character has a Southern accent, they're automatically stupid. (This also applies to New Jersey accents.) Anyway: I liked the episode. At the beginning, I was thinking "hey, you're allowed to be grumpy when you have the flu," but then Sheldon went waaaay over the line to horrible. But then... surprise! He learned something! He realized that he was being an ass and sincerely apologized. The scene where Amy coached him into feeling empathy was brilliant.
  14. Oh, "Alien Nation" - I forgot about that. It WAS good; maybe it was too expensive to produce.
  15. I think that was Phil's idea of what adults (non-students) wear at that college. That was great!
  16. Kirstie Alley isn't one of my favorite people, but I applaud anyone who can lose weight, even if they can't keep it off. It's HARD to lose weight, and HARD to keep it off! If it was easy, everyone would be slender.
  17. I hate them so much that I actually get a bit nauseous when they come on - I have to mute the TV and look away. They're making me hate the Statue of Liberty. If I'm ever in New York and I see them filming one of those commercials, I swear I'm gonna tackle them.
  18. With Caller ID it's usually unnecessary to identify yourself, but I guess you gotta say something. A couple of my sisters always say "what are you doing?" when I answer the phone, which has always annoyed me. The other day I asked one "why do you always ask me that?" and she said "that's what you say!"
  19. The rival cast was perfect! And I'm glad Ana and Xavi "won" in the end; even though they're no longer a couple, they seem to get along well as exes. After all, he did protect her "whiteness"! (Well, until the very end; who didn't see THAT coming? )
  20. Lots of little girls have crushes on adult men. Ask any male kindergarten teacher.
  21. I think shows from before the "hippie" era age better than those during this period - for a couple reasons. First, the clothes and hair were SO extreme (what were we thinking!), and second, because they spent so much time convincing their audience that they were "hip" and "mod". For example, on "Bewitched", I like the older black/white episodes so much better than those where Samantha is wearing her hair long and straight and wearing love beads, tight striped mini skirts and go-go boots.
  22. On "Everybody Loves Raymond", Robert got gored by a bull in the butt. Everybody was making fun of him and how he was milking sympathy until Raymond had to change the bandage and saw the wound. There was a nice moment of realization of how bad the injury was, and Raymond - for a change - showed some compassion.
  23. Yeah, I agree with that. Although I would have loved to see Mitch meet Barbra!
  24. I just watched the episode with Linda Lavine - she is still great! I thought it was a good episode; I'm glad to see the episode centered on Christy; Bonnie was starting to get on my nerves. Christy making a "Jewish" meal was a gutsy move. I would never try to make a new recipe (much less several!) for the first time for a guest, especially ethnic food. I also liked the way the episode ended, where Linda L's character recognized how hard Christy is working to be a good person.
