  1. When I was watching this episode I was thinking of how the purpose of the series was supposed to be "let's show the world that polygamy can work" and that the Brown family would be a shining example. And now... well, if I ever hear of a friend who is thinking of being in a plural family, I will just point them to this show.
  2. I watched the Russian competition ice dancing, and I noticed that many if not most of the pairs had a 1 point deduction in their final skate score. The commentators didn't say anything about it (that I heard). Anybody know what that was about?
  3. That was a beautiful bird, wasn't it? Ok, have to ask - when did "godparent" become "responsible for the kid if both parents die"? My experience is the godparent is responsible for mentoring the religious upbringing, and the "responsible if the parents die" part is a separate conversation entirely.
  4. About the ice cube trays: those looked like OXO trays to me.They're great because you can fill them up and just throw them in the freezer and they don't spill (they have a silicone cover), and the cubes come out really easily. If you don't have an ice maker (like me), these are great trays to have.
  5. The ending was a bit sad, but I loved the entire episode. I loved Howard meeting Elon Musk. I loved the "Siri" opener - "Grandma butts"? I loved Penny and Leonard's fight and how Leonard made up to Penny - that was hilarious! (And I loved how they cut off the scene when the gang walked in on him so we didn't have to see him explain it.) And I loved the way they handled Sheldon and Amy, although I was a bit surprised at the ending.
  6. I believe Mayim Bialik has stated she's Modern Orthodox.
  7. Murphy Brown would have sent that assistant packing in 30 seconds. The casting on this show is stellar!
  8. I agree with you - I liked Peter Pan. Walken wasn't very good in the part, and he should have been; I don't know what happened there! I liked "The Sound of Music" too. I love live theater!
  9. When Jimmy had to put on his reading glasses to read the text messages, I literally laughed out loud. Because that's what I have to do too!
  10. Not my favorite episode - I love seeing Jessica's sister and mother (and the subtitles of their conversations!), but the the "Thanksgiving dinner is a disaster" meme is so overdone and they didn't do anything new with it. (Really, Jessica? In 4+ hours you didn't even open the oven once to check and baste the turkey?)
  11. Question for anyone: the technical scores that NBC shows in the upper left corner during the performance: is it the actual score, including the grades of execution and deductions, or is it just an estimate based on the elements performed?
  12. One thing that bugs me is when reporters say "the alleged murder" or "the alleged crime". Ok, I know they need to cover their butts by not naming a person as a murderer, but when someone is DEAD from a BULLET, it's a MURDER. No "alleged" about it.
  13. I was wondering about this myself. She sounds more like a 3 year old than a 5 year old. One advantage of lots of older sibs around should be that her language skills should be above average.
  14. Wow. I wish they could just send the adults away and let us just watch the kids. It's a miracle that they grew up relatively normal and actually quite charming. Anyone playing the "take a slug every time Christine mentions polygamy" drinking game is probably passed out on their couch right now.
  15. That's pretty interesting. I have 3 younger sibs and I remember being astonished that one of my friends didn't know how to change a diaper, because I was changing diapers when I was 6 or 7. Come to think, of the 5 kids in my family, the oldest 2 have no kids. That's as good a reason to bring back Professor Proton as I can think of!
  16. I loved the part where they messed up Jimmy's apartment to show a kid lives there. Throwing the Cheetos in the air was a master stroke! And I think I would watch this show just to see Jimmy and Edie together. They are sooo frickin' cute!
  17. I'm pretty impressed by most of the child actors they're using. The scenes with Eddie and his friends and "girlfriends" were hilarious! I hadn't really thought about this, but you're right; this is one of those rare shows that a family with younger children can watch together.
  18. I really enjoyed the Moulin Rouge program last year. But a new outfit doesn't make the program new, Johnny. I think someone mentioned the choreography was reworked. I did agree with Johnny's comments about Adam Rippon's program. If he wants to go for a "rock and roll" program, he needs to energize his moves. I actually rewatched his skate with the sound off and in my head I was hearing classical music. (But I kinda like that hair!)
  19. Where I live, lots of parents dress up. It's fun! I always put on a witch costume to give out treats.
  20. Adam Nimoy (Leonard Nimoy's son) to appear on the November 5 episode: http://www.ew.com/article/2015/10/28/big-bang-theory-adam-nimoy-wil-wheaton-guest-star
  21. Oh, THAT would have been AWESOME! I can definitely see Amy knowing how to fence!
  22. I don't really try to think about this show; I just enjoy John Stamos and Edie. They are so stinkin' cute together!
  23. Stuart as a character can be saved. In an earlier season he mentioned being on antidepressants; maybe they can blame his descent into Creepytown on the drugs. Then his doctors can find a different medication and Voilà! He's the old Stuart again!
